Notes:

Adolph Licht immigrated to the United States from Prussia in 1881 along with his wife Ernestine and his four sons and daughter (another daughter was born in the U.S.). The family traveled from Breman, Germany on the S.S. Main, arriving in New York City on December 12, 1881. Adolph seems to have worked at various jobs relating to the lumber industry in Tonawanda, including working at H.M. Loud's Sons lumber yard. There is no record of his vocation or trade in Prussia.

Adolph Licht, eighty-one years old, died this morning at the home of his son, Herman C. Licht, No. 196 Niagara street, after a brief illness. Mr. Licht was born in Germany. He had been a resident of Tonawanda for the past forty-three years. He was a staunch Democrat. Four sons, Herman, Albert and Frank Licht of Tonawanda and Adolph Licht of Sanborn; a daughter, Esther, nineteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren survive. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. Chester W. Willis of the Broad street Baptist church officiating. Burial will be in Elmlawn.

Otto A. Licht, 71, husband of the late Anna Kurth, died yesterday at his home on the Lockport road, Sanborn. He is survived by two sons, Raymond of the Ward road and Arthur of Sanborn; 10 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two brothers, Albert and Frank of Tonawanda and a sister, Mrs. Esther Donaldson of Syracuse. TONAWANDA Albert A. Licht, 85, of 290 Franklin St., a retired public works department employee, died Wednesday (April 20, 1960) in Buffalo after several years illness. Born in Germany, he had lived in this city for the last 80 years. His wife, Margaret Acker Licht, died in 1932. He was predeceased by brothers Herman Charles Licht, Otto Adolph Licht, and Franklin A. C. Licht, and by sister Augusta Trost. Survivors include 10 sons, Arnold Licht, Eagle Harbor, N. Y.; Elmer, Walter and Floyd Licht, this city, Leroy Licht, Algonquin, Ont., Henry Licht, Riviera, Tex., John, Ralph and LeGrand Licht, North Tonawanda, and Norman Licht, Kenmore. The Rev. LaVerne S. TONAWANDA, Oct. 21 - Herman C. Licht, 64 years old, died suddenly yesterday at his home, 38 North Niagara street. He was removed from the DeGraff Memorial Hospital to his home Wednesday night, apparently well on the road to recovery from an operation. Stricken with a heart attack during the night, he succumbed a few hours later. Surviving are four sons, Reuben, Edward, Clarence, and Harold, all of Tonawanda; two daughters, Mrs. John Crowley, Zolfo, Fla., and Mrs. Henry Rebman, Tonawanda; three brothers, Otto, Sanborn, and Albert and Frank, Tonawanda and 30 grandchildren. Of North Tonawanda, NY, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, NY.  She was born in Niagara Falls, NY on June 27, 1933, a daughter of the late Raymond and Frances [Mante] Licht.
Mrs. Mowrey graduated from North Tonawanda High School in 1951.
She was a stay at home mom, and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Mrs. Mowrey crocheted lap robes for Niagara Hospice for many years.
She was a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Mowrey is survived by her husband of 69 years, James E. Mowrey, her daughter Debbie [ Michael ] Hechler, two grandchildren Christopher and Anna (Clayton) Hess, three great grandchildren Savannah, Avery and Clayton, Jr., a sister Olive Pike, also many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Patrick D. and James W. Mowrey, sister of the late Floyd, Edward Licht and Myrtle Tracy.
Her family will be present  on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at THE RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY,  where funeral  services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM , with the Rev. Meghan James officiating.

Of Wheatfield, passed away on  Tuesday, May 21, 2024, in Elderwood at Grand Island. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY on February 25, 1941, a son of the late LeGrand A. and Margaret [Western] Licht, Sr.
Mr. Licht was a machine repairman with Columbus McKinnon and later with the General Motors Tonawanda Powertrain, for over 25 years before retiring in 2006.
He was a race car enthusiast, racing cars at Ransomville and later becoming a member of a pit crew.
Mr. Licht enjoyed the outdoors, cooking, and his cabin and was an avid Bills and Sabres fan.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Donna  [Rankin] Licht, his children Melanie Ziemendorf, James, Raymond, Judith Lafler, Lee (Susan) and David, four grandchildren Lindsay, Austin, Tayla and Terrance, two great grandchildren Hollis and Hayden, his siblings Douglas (Peggy), Keith (Terri) and Timothy Licht, Jacalyn (Chuck) Staub,  Randy (Janice), Jamie ( late Maddy) and Darcy Licht.
Mr. Licht was the grandfather of the late Bryn and Nicholas Ziemendorf and brother of the late James Licht.

"Clem" Age 89, of North Tonawanda, formerly of the City of Tonawanda, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 26, 2015, under the care of Hospice, surrounded by his family and his pastor. Clem married the former Ruby I. Mueller on August 7, 1948 and they celebrated their 66th Anniversary this past year. In addition to Ruby, he is survived by three children Jeffrey (Susan) Licht, Susan Cosentino and Amy (Edward) Baker; grandchildren Kelly (Daniel) Flynn, Elizabeth (Craig) Hooftallen, Timothy Licht and Andrea (Justin) Gentzke; great-grandchildren Hannah Flynn, John Hooftallen and Aidan Flynn; brother Alan (Jean) Licht and many beloved nieces and nephews. After graduating from Tonawanda High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy at age 17 and served during WW-II abroad the USS Kennebec in the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters. Clem always enjoyed recounting his experiences in the Navy. He attended RIT for Commercial Art before starting and serving as co-owner of L&M Television Store in the Tonawandas. He went on to become the Sales Manager for Gold Star Real Estate and later worked for 19 years as a District Representative for Aid Association for Lutherans, a Fraternal Benefit Society, before retiring in 1991. He was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda for all of his adult life, serving in a variety of leadership rolls. He was also the oldest member of Rescue Fire Company No. 5. Throughout his long life, Clem enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, traveling the country and camping vacations. He was an accomplished artist and wood carver and he loved writing poetry for special occasions. He enjoyed working in his garage and basement workshops, spending time with his family and friends, and was always there to help family with home repairs and projects.

He had attended Niagara Cerebral Palsy, the Catalician Center, Buffalo, NY, and later People Inc. for several years. He was a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church, North Tonawanda, NY. Ziemendorf, 4, died Wednesday (Sept. 17; 1997) in the McMaster Medical Centre, Hamilton, Ont., after suffering injuries in an automobile accident. Bryn was born Aug. 8, 1991, in Lockport, and Nicholas was born June 24, 1993, in Lockport, the sons of David L. and Melanie L. (Licht) Ziemendorf of Slusaric Road.
Bryn was a first-grader at Starpoint Central School. Nicholas attended preschool classes at Holy Ghost Lutheran School. In addition to their parents, they are survived by a sister, Lindsay M. Services for Bryn David Ziemendorf, 6, and his brother, Nicholas Lee Ziemendorf, 4, both of Slusaric Road, will be held at 1 P.M. Saturday in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 64 Felton St., North Tonawanda. Burial will be in Wheatfield Cemetery.
The brothers died in McMaster Medical Centre, Hamilton, Ont., of injuries suffered in an automobile accident Sunday on the Queen Elizabeth Way near Grimsby, Ont.
Bryn, who died on Sunday (Sept. 14, 1997), was in the first grade at Starpoint Central School. Nicholas, who died on Wednesday (Sept. 17, 1997), attended the preschool class at Holy Ghost Lutheran School, Bergholz. The boys were born in Lockport.
Survivors include their parents, David L. and Melanie L.; a sister, Lindsay Marie; maternal grandparents, Lee and Donna Licht; paternal grandparents, Lloyd and Betty Jane Ziemendorf; and great grandparents, Harriett and Wallace Krull and LeGrand and Lanette Licht, all of North Tonawanda, and Dorothy Schoenthal of East Aurora.

WHEATFIELD - Bryn D. Ziemendorf, 6, died Sunday (Sept. 14, 1997) and Nicholas L. Ziemendorf, 4, died Wednesday (Sept. 17; 1997) in the McMaster Medical Centre, Hamilton, Ont., after suffering injuries in an automobile accident. Bryn was born Aug. 8, 1991, in Lockport, and Nicholas was born June 24, 1993, in Lockport, the sons of David L. and Melanie L. (Licht) Ziemendorf of Slusaric Road.
Bryn was a first-grader at Starpoint Central School. Nicholas attended preschool classes at Holy Ghost Lutheran School. In addition to their parents, they are survived by a sister, Lindsay M.
