John retired from Gibraltar Steel Corp. as a General Foreman of Maintenance after 32 years. He was an avid race car fan. He both built and drove race cars. He was the proud owner of a 1941 Willys which was displayed at many car shows. He was an accomplished welder, fabricator, and wood worker. He loved studying and imparting the history of the Town of Wheatfield. He was the son of the late Basil and Dorothy (Robinson) Montgomery. He was the husband of the late Donna J. (nee Troutman) Montgomery. Beloved father of Tracy (Tim) Demler of the Town of Wheatfield and John (Harlena) Montgomery of Appleton, NY; grandfather of Christopher, Daniel, Alex, and Lisa; great-grandfather of Carolina. Brother of Betty (Leonard) Jagow, Lois (late Raymond) Wesolowski, Michael (Denise) Montgomery, and the late Gary Montgomery. Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the FRETTHOLD FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd. in North Tonawanda on Thursday from 4 - 8 P.M. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home beginning at 8 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Niagara Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association of WNY.  Guest register available at frettholdfuneralhome.com.
