Proprietor of Orlando's Grill Dies

Orlando Marra, 59, of 448 Portage Rd., proprietor of Orlando's Grill, 1523 18th St. for the last four years, died in Mt. St.Mary's Hospital Wednesday (April 6, 1960).
For 30 years, Mr. Marra was a partner with his brother, Costantino Marra, in the operation of the C. and O. Marra Distributing Co.
Born in San Pier Niceto, Messina, Italy, Mr. Marra came to Pennsylvania in 191. He had resided in Niagara Falls for 40 years. He was a life member o the Elks Lodge and the Moose Lodge.
Surviving are three sons, Dr. Joseph V. Marra, Albert L. Marra and Orlando Marra Jr., and a daughter, Mrs. rank (Anna May) Rotella, all of this city' three brothers, Peter Marra and Joseph Marra, this city, and Costantino Marra, Buffalo; a sister, Mrs. Sarina Gogone, in Italy, and five grandchildren.
His wife, Santa (Micale) Marra, predeceased him.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the Spallino Funeral Home and at St. Joseph's Church at 10 a.m., with interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Orlando A. Marra Jr., DDS, 86, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on July 25, 2023 at Our Lady of Peace Health Care Facility in Lewiston, NY.  Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Orlando and Santa (Micale) Marra Sr.
Dr. Marra was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School.  He earned his Bachelors of Science specializing in Biology at St. Bonaventure University in 1959, and in 1963, graduated from Georgetown University Dental School.   Dr. Marra proudly served as a Captain in the United States Air Force from 1959 until 1965.  Dr. Marra worked as an Endodontist in Niagara Falls, working alongside his brother, Dr. Joseph V. Marra, DDS, for over 30 years.  After his brother Joseph retired, Dr. Marra continued to practice for over 20 years until his retirement.
‘Uncle Lando’, as he was affectionately known to his family and friends, devoted much of his time to be an integral part of the lives of his nieces and nephews through fishing, attending basketball games, and sharing many golf outings.   An avid golfer, he was a longtime member of Niagara Falls Country Club and Niagara Frontier Country Club.  Dr. Marra was also very active in many organizations, including the Kiwanis Club, Knights of Columbus Council #247, and the District Dental Society.  He was a longtime member of St. Peter’s Church and a member of their Holy Name Society.
Dr. Marra is survived by his sister, Anna Mae (late Frank) Rotella; his beloved nieces and nephews, Orlando (Marnie) Marra, Esq., Catherine (Dr. Duncan Grant) Marra, Esq., Dr. Edward (Deanna) Marra, Anne (Michael, Esq.) Orenstein, Joseph (Susan) Marra, Judith Marra, Michael (Laura) Marra, Maria (Erik) Jobson, JoAnne (Dr. Jeffrey) Moll, Barbara (Lou) Virelli, Diane (John Mullen) Harmon, and Susan (Jim) Flemming, as well as many great nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was predeceased by his brothers, Dr. Joseph (late Beverly) Marra, Albert L. Marra, and his nephew, Robert Marra, Esq.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 10 from 3 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304.  Dr. Marra’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 11 at 10 AM at St. Peter’s RC Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY 14092, concluding with Military Honors.  In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the ALS Foundation, https://donate.als.org/.  Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.

Age 49, died unexpectedly on Friday, February 11, 2022, from an apparent heart attack at his home in Huntersville, NC. Born in Lewiston, NY, on June 16, 1972, Robert was a devoted son to the late Dr. Joseph Vincent Marra and the late Beverly Anne (Smith) Marra. Spending much of his life in the Niagara Falls area, Robert graduated from Saint Joseph's Collegiate Institute. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Niagara University and a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Buffalo. Robert moved to Huntersville, NC in 2011 to be close to his dearest friends, Dr. Catherine Reimels and Dr. Michael Reimels, where he served as Office Manager of their Dental Practice(s). Robert was a beloved son, brother, nephew, uncle and friend. He was a devout Catholic and a wonderful role model for his 21 nephews and nieces. He exuded kindness, generosity and integrity. He had an amazing sense of humor. He dedicated much of his adult life to caring for others; most notably caring for his parents at the end of their lives. He was a favorite uncle, who often dropped everything to play with his nephews and nieces and make them gigantic ice cream cones. A great athlete, at just ten years of age, he was the calm, cool and collected catcher for his sister, JoAnne Marra-Moll, when she pitched her perfect game in the Whirlpool Little League in 1981. He later became a wonderful golfer; a sport he enjoyed playing with his brothers and his dear uncle, Dr. Orlando A. Marra, throughout his life. One of Robert's passions was to cook for his friends and family. He spent many, many years at his father's side mastering family recipes that have been passed down for generations. To his mother's chagrin, Robert shared his father's love of horse racing. He could read a racing form better than anyone, and he was the family's go-to source for tips on any race, but especially the Kentucky Derby. His specialty at the track was "exotic betting." Robert also leaves behind his longtime companion, Diana Rose Sidey and her daughter Anelle Sidey. In addition to his uncle, Orlando Albert Marra, D.D.S. of Niagara Falls, NY and his aunts, Anna Mae Rotella and Maria Crea-Smith, M.D. both of Lewiston, NY, Robert is survived by his nine siblings; Orlando A. (Marnie) Marra, Esq. of Dunwoody, GA; Catherine E. (Duncan Grant, MD) Marra, Esq. of Charleston, SC; Edward L. (Deanna) Marra, D.M.D. of Scottsdale, AZ; Anne (Michael) Orenstein, Esq. of Hollywood, FL; Joseph V. (Susan) Marra of Lewiston, NY; Judith M. Marra of New York City, NY; Michael J. (Laura) Marra of Lewiston, NY; Maria T. (Erik) Jobson of Orchard Park, NY; and JoAnne M. (Jeffrey) Moll, M.D. of Marble, PA; 21 nephews and nieces and countless cousins. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at 2 PM at JAMES FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, Huntersville, NC.
