NEWFANE—John F. Klumpp, 91, a resident in this area for 50 years, died Sunday (Oct. 2, 1966) in Niagara Lutheran Nursing Home, Buffalo, where he had been a patient briefly. For the last 10 years, Mr. Klumpp had lived with a daughter, Miss Freda Klumpp, at 24 Bell St., Buffalo. He was born in Buffalo, Jan. 24, 1875, a son of Bernhardt and Mary Gulkelberger Klumpp. He married Katherine Heck, in Buffalo, Oct. 25, 1899. She died in 1952 at Ridgewood, where they were making their home at the time. Mr. Klumpp was a farmer throughout his life, retiring in 1953. He was a life member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Ridgewood, where he served as trustee for many years. Survivors include two sons, Elmer Klumpp, Appleton, and Walter Klumpp, Lockport; five daughters, Mrs. Charles (Lillian) Heckel, Buffalo, Mrs. Hiram (Ruth) Ferguson, Newfane, Mrs. Kathleen Kaufman, Lockport, Miss Freda Klumpp, Buffalo, and Mrs. Kenneth (Alice) Berner, Gasport; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Kenneth H. Sherrie Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Rev. August Kruetz of Immanuel Lutheran Church will officiate at services at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Wrights Corners Cemetery.

Alice M. Berner, formerly of Gasport, passed away Friday, January 28, 2011 at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Medina, NY. Mrs. Berner was born in Newfane, NY on August 19, 1917, daughter of the late John and Kathleen (Heck) Klumpp. Mrs. Berner had lived in the Gasport area most of her life and was employed at W.T. Grant in Lockport, NY, and also worked in the cafeteria at the Gasport Elementary School. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Middleport and she enjoyed her family, gardening, cooking and baking. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth J. Berner in l996; and by her siblings, Lillian Heckel, Elmer Klumpp, Ruth Ferguson, Kay Kaufman, Frieda Klumpp and Walter Klumpp. She is survived by two sons and one daughter, Beverly Craig of North Tonawanda, Buddy Berner of Holley, NY and Brian (Susan) Berner of Gasport; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may all Tuesday from 3 to 7 PM at the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home, 38 State St., Middleport, and Wednesday from 10 to 11 AM at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Rt. 31, Middleport, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. David Triplett officiating. Burial will be in Orangeport Cemetery. Obituary of Jeanne Williams

The earth life of Jeanne Carol Williams of Newfane, New York, ended peacefully on November 29, 2021.  As promised by her Lord and Savior in faith she has received His gift of eternal life.  She was under the loving care of her family, assisted by the staff of Elderwood at Wheatfield and Niagara Hospice.                                        
Born September 16, 1934 in Appleton, NY she was the daughter of the late Hiram and Ruth (nee Klumpp) Ferguson and sister of the late Joan.
Jeanne was a graduate of Barker Central School Class of 1952 and St. Joseph’s Academy, Lockport Class of 1953 from the secretarial program. She was employed from 1953 until 1961 at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Niagara County.  She enjoyed working with the 4-H program with fond memories of Niagara County and NYS fairs.  She returned to work part-time in 1974 and spent 23 years as receptionist for the offices of Dr. Prayoon Prabharasuth.
A lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Ridgewood, NY, Jeanne humbly served her Lord best from the age of 14 by sharing her gift of music across generations at Immanuel.  She taught Sunday School, organized Christmas programs, and played for many weddings and funerals.  A self-taught organist she retired in 2017 after 52 years of faithful service.
While raising her family she participated in her children’s activities as well as her own.  Any outside activity became a family event, working together, each sharing their talents. Jeanne was a member of the Newfane Inter-Community Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and served as President for two years.  Other activities included being Treasurer for the hospital gift shop and volunteering to help at blood mobiles and fundraisers. She enjoyed being a traditional mom and overseeing her household.
Married June 4, 1960 to Roger A. Williams, he predeceased her on March 3, 2009.  Together they were blessed with four children.  She is the dear mother of Barbara Williams, Newfane, NY; Paul Williams, Newfane, NY; Norma Jeanne (John) Jacobs of Wheatfield, NY; and Robert (Kara) Williams of Orchard Park, NY and the loving Grandma of Siana and Mackenzie Jacobs, Carson and Olivia Williams, and Austin Hoelscher.
She is survived by her brother, James (Martha) Ferguson Lockport, NY, brother-in-law Richard (late Sharon) Williams, Lockport, NY, and sister-in-law Carol (late Rev. Edwin) Williams of Omaha, NE.  She was also the sister-in-law of the late David Rhoadhouse and Kathryn (Glenn) Rhoadhouse-Klotzbach of Medina, NY.  As an aunt, she is survived by 11 nieces and nephews; 17 great nieces and nephews; and 4 great-great nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to visitation at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, NY on Friday, December 3rd from 3-8 PM.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 10:30 a.m.  at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 7147 Ridge Road, New York with the Rev. Obituary of James H. Ferguson

James “Jim” H. Ferguson went to his eternal home January 5, 2022, surrounded by family.  Born March 20, 1930, in Newfane he was the son of Hiram and Ruth (Klumpp) Ferguson.  James proudly served in the US Air Force from 1950-1954.  He owned Willett Ferguson Concrete Construction, Synthetic Granite Vault, and served as caretaker for Wrights Corners Cemetery. He was very active in local politics and held several leadership positions in his church. He was most proud of his family and often bragged about their accomplishments. His favorite hobby was his vegetable garden and he received great joy from sharing his produce or bartering it for services.
Jim leaves behind his loving wife Martha (Willett) Ferguson, whom he married November 28th, 1957, children James, Beth, Tod, and Julia.  He was a devoted grandfather to Aaron, Meredith, Sarah, and Nate. His world revolved around his three great-grands Rhett, Emma & Tanner. Also survived by sister-in-law, Joan, nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces, and nephews.  Jim was predeceased by sisters Joan and Jeanne, brother-in-law Roger and sister-in-law Rita.

John "Jack" Klumpp, age 81, of North Tonawanda, passed away on March 6, 2020 at Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, after a long battle of Leukemia. He was born on January 27, 1939 in Lockport, NY, to the late Walter and Alice (Flint) Klumpp. Jack was a graduate of Newfane High School, class of 1957. He then served in the Army Reserves. Jack worked at Simon Steel for many years and retired from Alleghany Ludlum in Lockport, NY. Jack is survived by his loving wife, Rheta; son, Kyle (Ann) Klumpp; daughter, Tammy (Tom) Houseal; and son, Todd (Stephanie) Klumpp. He is also survived by his step-children, Laurie Grimm, Jeff (Mary) Grimm and Melissa Grimm; grandfather of 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren; brother of James (Candy) Klumpp, Phillip (Barbara) Klumpp and the late Ronald Klumpp; uncle of many nieces and nephews. Beverly Craig was called to glory December 20, 2018. Survived by her loving family: Children – Reverend Kenneth (Julie) Craig, Dawn Parker, Debora (Kenneth) Kalbfliesh; Grandchildren – Nathan, Stephen and Hannah Craig, Brittany and Mitchell Parker, Nicholas, Kirsten and Benjamin Kalbfliesh. Also survived by brothers Buddy Berner and Brian Berner. Daughter of the late Kenneth and Alice Berner. Beverly served her Lord and Savior as a teacher and organist for many years. Faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she instituted an annual Christmas Cookie Walk that draws people from throughout WNY. Beverly was an accomplished baker and knitter and enjoyed gardening and reading. She will be dearly missed, but with faith in Christ’s victory over death, we know we will see her again in heaven! Brian L. Berner passed away August 1, 2023 in Medina Memorial Hospital. Born November 28, 1946 in Medina he was the son of Kenneth and Alice (Klumpp) Berner. Brian served in the US Navy from 1967-1970 and worked for over 50 years at Harrison Radiator Div of GM in production, retiring in 2017. He was a member of the Hartland Conservation Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, especially loved spending time with his family. Brian was predeceased by his siblings Buddy Berner and Beverly Craig.
Brian is survived by his wife of 51 years Susan (Brayley) Berner; children Jeffrey (Rachel) Berner, Amy Glenn, and Kimberly (Robert Deemer) Berner; grandchildren Hayley (Michael Huntington) Berner, Rebecca Berner, Alyson Berner, Adriannah Berner, Saydee Johengen, Leighton Berner, Peyton Johengen, and Delaney Glenn; also several nieces and nephews. Born April 21, 1961 in Newfane, NY she was the daughter of the late Roger and Jeanne(nee Ferguson)Williams. She was the granddaughter of the late Hiram and Ruth(nee Klumpp) Ferguson and the late Arthur and Alvina(Wittcop) Williams. Predeceased by several aunts and uncles (James and Martha Ferguson, David Rhoadhouse, Kathryn and Glenn Klotzbach, and Sharon Williams), she is also survived by an aunt, Carol Williams of Omaha, NE and an uncle, Richard Williams, of Lockport, NY.
Barb is the protective big sister of Paul Williams, Newfane, NY; Norma Jeanne(John) Jacobs of Wheatfield, NY; and Robert(Kara) Williams of Orchard Park.  She is forever the loving and caring “Anut” of Siana and Mackenzie Jacobs, Carson and Olivia Wiliams, and Austin Hoelscher. Additionally, she is survived by several cousins.
Barbara was a graduate of Newfane Central Schools, Niagara County Community College, and 1984 graduate of Niagara University.  She was employed for twenty years as a Certified Public Accountant at Lumsden & McCormick, LLP, specializing in auditing school districts and not-for-profits, before venturing into consulting work. She also worked as the Treasurer/School Business Manager of the Lyndonville Central School District for six years, before becoming the District Treasurer for the Amherst Central School district for the past eleven years. Professionally she was a member of the Association of School Business Officials, NYS and Western NY Chapter and she was a past member of Zonta Club.
A lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Ridgewood, NY, Barb was actively involved with Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) both at the Zone and District levels.  She has served as both President and Convention Chair of the Niagara Zone and in various roles on the Board of Directors for the Eastern District, most recently as Financial Secretary.
