    Capt Joseph Frank Butler, son of
    Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Esslie, of 432
    Cedar avenue, has recently received
    an appointment as major In the
    Officers' Reserve Corps of the
    United States Army, it has been announced
    by the Public Information
    Office at Hq. Phllrycom in Manila.
    At present assigned as adjutant of
    the 66th Transportation Truck battalion
    on Okinawa, Capt Butler has
    been in the army since 1935. Ha had
    served in Europe with different
    battery units at Ft Wright New
    York, Ft Kamehameha. Camp Hulen,
    and Ft Eustls, Va.
    His wife, Betty Lou, is presently
    living with him on Okinawa
