    GRAND ISLAND. Dec. 4.-Two
    sisters, former well known residents
    of Grand Island, died Saturday
    within an hour of each other at
    their homes ln Pendleton and Kenmore.
    They were Mrs. Catherine
    Vanthoff Young, of Pendleton, and
    Mrs. Clara L. Vanthoff Block, of
    Kenmore. Both were born on Grand
    Island.
    Funeral services for Mrs. Young
    will be held from the residence of
    her daughter, Mrs. William Lewke,
    66 Henrietta street, Buffalo, tomorrow
    afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment
    will be in Maple Grove cemetery,
    Grand Island.
    Last rites for Mrs. Block will be
    held from the family residence, 58
    Somerton avenue, Kenmore, Wednesday
    afternoon at 3:30 o'clock

    Young 14. son of Mr and
    Mrs Anson Young of the Campbell
    boulevard town of Pendleton, who
    was fatally Injured yesterday when
    struck in the head bv the dipper of
    a steam shovel on the George Win-
    ter farm In the.boulevard, town of
    Amherst, was employed by Benjamin
    Donner. of the Donner road
    near lockport The boy's skull was
    crushed when the dipper struck him
    He was removed to the Wendelville
    garage in the truck and from
    there was taken to the office of Dr
    J. E. Helwig. in Martinsville. In an
    automobile driven by Carl Schoelles.
    one of the proprietors of the
    Wendelville garage Dr Helwig ordered
    the lad removed to the De-
    Graff Memorial hospital he died
    enroule.
    The youth was engaged in driving
    the truck being operated by
    Dormer m connection with the digging
    of a ditch on the Winter farm.
    The body was removed to the fu-
    neral home of Louis Nagel In Her-
    tel Avenue. Buffalo.
    The boy"s father Is employed at
    the Tonawanda plant of the Columbus
    McKlnnon Chain company.

    Mildred “Gloria” Pittler passed away on February 8, 2020 at Elderwood at Lockport. The Pendleton resident was 93. Born in Buffalo, she was the daughter of the late George Couch, Sr. and the late Maude Couch. She was the beloved wife of the late Floyd Pittler, and loving mother of Sandra (Thomas)Clawson, Brenda Pittler, and Rebecca Pittler. Dear grandmother of Elizabeth (Andrew)Miller and great grandmother of Owen Miller. She was the sister of the late June (late Walter) Riggs and the late George (Yvonne)Couch, Jr.. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was an active member of St.Paul’s United Church of Christ at Shawnee, Pendleton Historical Society, Wendelville Senior Citizens and Niagara County Historical Society. She was a member of the Creekside Bowling League for over 50 years. She will be dearly missed by her four-legged companions, Maudee and Addie. Family and friends may call at the Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home at 242 Genesee St. Lockport 14094 on Wednesday 3-7pm. The funeral service will be at her church, St. Paul UCC Shawnee, 3921 Mapleton Road, North Tonawanda, NY 14120, on Thursday at 11AM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to The Niagara County Historical Society 215 Niagara Street
