    Notes:

Christine went to meet her Lord and Savior on May 1st, 2021 after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on April 15, 1952 to Leo Paul and Mary Russ in Niagara Falls, NY where she was a lifelong resident and active member of the community.
She was predeceased by her devoted husband Michael Cavanaugh, cherished son Paul Cavanaugh and beloved siblings Paul Russ and Kathleen Russ. She is survived by her daughter Erin Cavanaugh (Ballav Borah), siblings James (late Diana) Russ, Margaret (Gary) Server, Timothy (Victoria) Russ, Patricia Russ (Carrie Fuhrmann), Ruthann (Joseph) Hoffman and Victoria Maturani (Gabor Karpati) along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Christine was a caretaker by nature so it was only fitting that she chose to dedicate her life to a career in nursing. She graduated from Niagara County Community College with an Associate’s Degree and also earned an Occupational Health Nurse certification. She began her profession at Memorial Medical Center before spending many years as a plant nurse for Goodyear, Carbide Graphite and Saint Gobain. She finished her career as a Nurse Case Manager at Travelers Insurance and retired in 2018. After retirement she continued her love for learning by auditing classes at University of Buffalo in the field of Archeology. She was so inspired by this newfound passion that she even planned a trip to Bulgaria to participate in an archeological dig which was sidelined due to recent global pandemic travel restrictions.
Christine was the heart and soul of her family and she radiated love and light. She had a unique bond with each family member, making everyone feel like the favorite in her eyes. She had a special way with children which shone through with her silly games and elaborate stories.
Dubbed “Saint Christine” by her siblings, she was a selfless humanitarian who always put others ahead of herself. She was often sought out for advice or just for a sympathetic ear and was always happy to oblige. She loved to volunteer her time to help others and could never say no when it came to donating to various charities. Anything she had; she was willing to share. She was an active member of her church and taught religious education for many years.
Christine was an avid traveler and lover of the outdoors, animals, lighthouses, mystery novels, sweet treats and fine wine. Her positivity and happiness could light up any room. For Christine, kindness was key. She was slow to pass judgement and quick to show love. She will live on forever as an example of how to live a full and beautiful life. She will be sorely missed and her memory will live on through all the lives she touched.
Family present Friday May 7 from 2-4, 7-9 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC.,  8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14304.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday May 8, 2021 at 1 PM in St. Vincent de Paul Parish, Prince of Peace site, 1055 Military Road, Niagara Falls.  The interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your favorite charity or perform an act of kindness with Christine in your heart.
