Born in the Town of Cambria, March 17, 1893, the son of Henry and Augusta Grossman Witkop, he lived all his life on the farm where he was born until the death of his wife, Veronica Gombert Witkop, two years ago. Since that time he made his home with his children. He was employed by the State Highway Department for 20 years and retired eight years ago. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, North Tonawanda, and is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Philip Martin and Mrs. William Strothman. both of this community; six sons, Wilbert, Robert, Norman and Kenneth Witkop, this community. Erwin Witkop, Niagara Falls, and James Witkop, North Tonawanda, two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Stoelting and Mrs, Lydia Eggert and a brother George Witkop, all of North Tonawanda; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She worked for 15 years as an assembly worker in the Wurlitzer Co. plant, North Tonawanda.
Mrs. Maerten was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, North Tonawanda, where she belonged to the Ladies Aid Society, the Lutheran Service Society and the Parent-Teacher League.
She was also a member of the Friendship Club in Sanborn.
Her husband of 49 years, Philip E., died in 1991.

Born in Cambria, he moved to Wheatfield in 1945.
He served in the Army during World War II.
He was employed by the Niagara County Highway Department for 351/2 years as a highway maintenance supervisor until retiring in 1984.
Witkop was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda.
He was a charter member of Wheatfield Post 1451, American Legion, and a charter member of the Shawnee Volunteer Fire Company and its Benevolent Association.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, the former Norma R. Masters; a son, Duane of North Tonawanda; two daughters, Rita Warszawski of North Tonawanda and Joan Adams of Niagara Falls; two brothers, James and Robert, both of North Tonawanda; and two sisters, Evelyn Maerten and Edith Strothmann.

She was born March 10, 1935, the daughter of the late Edward and Minnie Wittkop. She retired after 30 years from Riley Gear Corp. where she worked as an administrative assistant. A lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, she volunteered in many activities such as the annual Trash and Treasures. Other interests included traveling internationally, reading and crocheting.

MEDINA — James L. Eggert, of Middleport, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2010 at the Medina Memorial Healthcare System. Mr. Eggert was born in North Tonawanda, NY on November 8, 1930, son of the late Lester and Lydia (Witkop) Eggert.

He had lived in Middleport all of his life and was employed at Quality Markets in Lockport as a meat cutter until retirement. He and his wife, Shirley R. (Hodgins) Eggert were married July 21, 1951 in Ridgewood Lutheran Church. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and he enjoyed his family, hunting and fishing.

He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley R. Eggert on November 4, 2010; and by two siblings, Karen Mattoon and Donald Eggert.

He is survived by two children, Peg Homesberger of Wilson and Douglas (Liz) Eggert of Middleport; three grandchildren, Amy (Scott) Kassmann, Douglas Homesberger and Jonathan Eggert, all of Middleport. Also surviving are two great-grandchildren, Hope Kassmann and Jessica Kassman, both of Middleport; a brother, Edward (Barbara) Eggert of Barker; a sister, Ruth Wells of Medina and several nieces and nephews.

Wayne L. Haseley, a longtime United Auto Workers officer and member of the executive board at Cornerstone Community Federal Credit Union, died Tuesday (Jan. 20, 2004) in Lockport Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was 62. The Lockport native was a graduate of Lockport High School. He was a committeeman for UAW Local 686 at Delphi Harrison Thermal Systems for two terms. He was then elected to the Shop Committee and during his first term was elected shop chairman, serving for two more terms. Haseley was instrumental in the development of the Quality of Work Life Program in the 1980s and in 1981 became head of the Jobs Bank at Delphi. Haseley was appointed to the executive board at Cornerstone in 1991 and was elected chairman in 1995. He also served on committees for education and training, building, bylaws, personnel and delinquency/doubtful loans. He was also a Directors Educational Forum member of the Credit Union Executive Society. He received the Filene Award in the New York State Credit Union League Volunteer Achievement Program for completing all credit union educational modules for directors. Haseley served on the credit union board until retiring in 2000. He also enjoyed camping, bicycling, walking and NASCAR. Duane Carl Witkop, age 79 of North Tonawanda, NY, was called peacefully to his heavenly home, to be with his Lord and Savior, on June 10, 2024 at the Northgate Health Care Facility, Wheatfield, NY. Born in Lockport, NY on February 17, 1945; son of the late Norman and Norma (Masters) Witkop. A graduate of Starpoint High School, Erie Community College, and Niagara University, earning his Master's Degree in education. Duane taught mathematics in the Niagara Falls School District for approximately 30 years, retiring in 1999. To remain active, he then worked at Home Depot, Amherst location. Duane was a life long member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, in North Tonawanda, where he served on the finance committee nearly 50 years. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and comedian, with his outgoing personality. He had a reputation of helping others that were in need, throughout his life.Survivors include his devoted wife, Claudia (Engel) Witkop; three loving children, Darryl (Vicky) Witkop, Laurie (Thomas) Westbrook, and Bradley (Kim) Witkop; two sisters, Joan Adams and Rita Burns; six grandchildren, Ashley Bruce, Chelsea Witkop, Derek Westbrook, and Megan Westbrook; and a great-granddaughter, Everly Bruce.Friends may call at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield, on Thursday (June 13) from 4-8 p.m. Services will be conducted by the Rev. ROCHESTER —
On July 7, 2013, I passed from the land of the dying into the land of the truly living. Heaven is now my home and there is no more sorrow, no more grief, no more tears. When you read this, I will already be enjoying eternal life with my Lord and Savior Jesus. However, as I write these words I grieve about leaving my loved ones behind. They include my beloved wife of 34 years, Dawn (Henry) Witkop, who has been my rock, along with my dear son and daughter, Adam Witkop, and Kristen Witkop. I also leave behind much loved sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law along with numerous aunts and uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews.
I will skip the part where I list all of my life's accomplishments because they don't mean much after death. In fact, they don't mean much now as I type these words. Instead I will share with you something of the utmost importance.
Life is indeed short and no one knows when their time here will be up. It is my prayer that you won't face death without knowing Jesus. The Bible states that the wages of sin is death. We are all sinners and would be condemned to an eternity in Hell if it weren't for Jesus. Jesus is the Son of God and was sent to Earth to take the just punishment for our sin as our substitute. He rose from the dead to show His victory over sin and death. To be forgiven, all we have to do is accept Jesus as our Savior. Jesus did the rest. Diane Haseley (Didi) of Lockport, NY, passed away reluctantly on March 24, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. She was born July 22, 1957, the daughter of Larry and Marcia Haseley. Diane is predeceased by her mother, Marcia Haseley, and brother Robert H. (Jane) Haseley. She is survived by her brothers Dan (Debi) Haseley, Gary (Laura) Haseley, and Roger (Tammy) Haseley, nine nieces and nephews, eight great nieces and nephews, her beloved Buffalo Bills, and the Stoll family. 
Diane was a graduate of Lockport High School and worked as the CFO for KIPO Motors.   Diane loved being with family and friends, watching her beloved Bills, and an “occasional” Bud Light.  Diane was a kind, generous, loving spirit that touched so many lives deeply. She will be remembered for her strong will, keen wit, and ability to make so many people feel special and loved. Didi will be missed dearly. 
Relatives and friends may call wearing their favorite Buffalo Bills attire on Thursday, March 28th, from 4-7 p.m. at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 29th, at 10 AM. The interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Patricia Allen Fund benefiting the John R. Robert H. Haseley passed away suddenly January 8, 2018 in Buffalo General Medical Center. Born in Lockport April 1, 1959 he is the son of Laurence and Marcia (Brigham) Haseley. Robert was a gas fitter for NYSEG working there for 35 years. He was a member & past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge. He enjoyed planning bowling parties and a yearly Halloween party for the Challengers. Robert enjoyed hunting and golfing and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. Besides his parents Robert is also survived by his wife of 37 years Jane (Dayer) Haseley; daughters Megan (Ryan) Guild and Jill (Gerald) Marsillo; grandchildren Madilyn, Brayden Guild and Harrison, Bennett Marsillo; siblings Roger (Tammy) Haseley, Gary (Laura) Haseley, Daniel (Debi) Haseley, and Diane Haseley; also several nieces and nephews.
