    Niagara Gazette

    ROCHESTER —
On July 7, 2013, I passed from the land of the dying into the land of the truly living. Heaven is now my home and there is no more sorrow, no more grief, no more tears. When you read this, I will already be enjoying eternal life with my Lord and Savior Jesus. However, as I write these words I grieve about leaving my loved ones behind. They include my beloved wife of 34 years, Dawn (Henry) Witkop, who has been my rock, along with my dear son and daughter, Adam Witkop, and Kristen Witkop. I also leave behind much loved sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law along with numerous aunts and uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews.
I will skip the part where I list all of my life's accomplishments because they don't mean much after death. In fact, they don't mean much now as I type these words. Instead I will share with you something of the utmost importance.
Life is indeed short and no one knows when their time here will be up. It is my prayer that you won't face death without knowing Jesus. The Bible states that the wages of sin is death. We are all sinners and would be condemned to an eternity in Hell if it weren't for Jesus. Jesus is the Son of God and was sent to Earth to take the just punishment for our sin as our substitute. He rose from the dead to show His victory over sin and death. To be forgiven, all we have to do is accept Jesus as our Savior. Jesus did the rest.
