    MELLENTHINE – Marcus P. Mellenthine, 62, last night (Sept. 6, 1955) in his home, Ward Rd., St. Johnsburg. He is survived by his wife, Louise, nee Schaller. He was the father of Mrs. Melvin Voelcker of Bergholtz, and Ralph F. and Donald M., of the Town of Wheatfield. He is also survived by six grandchildren. He was the brother of Mrs. Elizabeth Broecker and half-brother of Edmund and Walter Williams. Services will be in the family residence at 2 p.m. Friday, and at 2:30 p.m. in St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev. J. Walter Thiemecke will officiate. Interment will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Mr. Mellenthine was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the St. Johnsburg Fire Company.

    Gladys E. Voelker, 76, a retired school bus driver, died Friday (Dec. 29, 1995) in her Niagara Road home after a lengthy illness.
    The former Gladys Mellenthine was born in North Tonawanda and had lived in Bergholz since 1941.
    Mrs. Voelker was employed by the Niagara Wheatfield School District as a bus driver for about 25 years, retiring in 1980.
    She enjoyed gardening and refinishing furniture.
    Mrs. Voelker was a member of St. James Lutheran Church.
    Her husband, Melvin Voelker, died in 1980.
    Surviving are two sons, Mark and Earl; a daughter, Lynn Blake; a brother, Ralph Mellenthine of North Tonawanda; nine
    grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
    Services will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday at St. James Church, 2437 Niagara Road. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery

    MELLENTHINE – Donald M. Mellenthine, 54, of the Town of Wheatfield, Monday (August 16, 1976) at DeGraff Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Mr. Mellenthine was a former employee of DuPont County, working there 33 years, a member of the 25 Year Club, a veteran of World War II, he was a member of Wheatfield Post 1451, American Legion and St. John Lutheran Church.

    He is survived by his wife, Sophie (nee Prohaska) Mellenthine; two daughters, Dawn Louise and Nancy Ann Mellenthine; his mother, Mrs. Louise Mellenthine of the Town of Wheatfield; a brother, Ralph Mellenthine of North Tonawanda and a sister, Mrs. Melvin (Gladys) Voelker of the Town of Wheatfield.

    The family will receive friends at the Fretthold Funeral Home, Inc., 1241 Oliver St., at Ward Rd., North Tonawanda, this evening from 7 to 9 and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held in St. John Lutheran Church, Wednesday at 1 p.m., the Rev. Albert W. Bahr will officiate. Interment in St. John Lutheran Cemetery. If so desired, memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church or DeGraff Memorial Hospital Building Fund.

    EARL E. VOELKER, age 78 of Wheatfield, NY, was called unexpectedly to his heavenly home on March 31, 2021 at his residence. Born in North Tonawanda, NY on February 17, 1943; son of the late Melvin and Gladys (Mellenthine) Voelker. Earl was a lifelong resident of Wheatfield, attended LaSalle High School for a year, then was a student at Niagara Wheatfield High School, graduating in their first graduating class of 1961. Earl served in the United States Navy from 1961-1963. He was self-employed in his home improvement business for several years, and later as a supervisor at DuPont Chemical, in Niagara Falls, retiring in 2001. A long time member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, in Bergholz, he held various positions including on the school board, boys basketball coach, and mowed lawn at the church cemetery. Earl was also a member of the Bergholz Fire Company, and the Bergholz German Band Colorguard. He enjoyed golfing with his buddies, was an avid sports fan, and in high school excelled in football, baseball, basketball and track. Earl was inducted into the Niagara Wheatfield Sports Hall of Fame, for football and basketball.Survivors include his loving wife, Ruth Elaine (Camann) Voelker, whom he married on May 29, 1965; four children, Rebecca Scherrer of Bergholz, Daniel (Christine) Voelker of Prince Frederick, Maryland, Rachel Burleigh-Voelker and Luke Voelker both of Bergholz; a brother, Mark (Jan) Voelker; grandchildren, Mitchell Scherrer, Mariah (Patrick) Noonan, Benjamin Voelker, Sophia Voelker, Ava Burleigh, Wesley Burleigh, Scarlett Burleigh; great-grandchildren, Liam and Delilah Noonan; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Lynn Voelker.Friends may call at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Denton White, on Friday, April 9 at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, corner Niagara Road and Luther Street in Bergholz. Interment with military honors will follow in Holy Ghost Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church.

    A graduate of Niagara Wheatfield HS she was employed as a health care aid with HANCI for six years and was a devoted homemaker. Lynn was a life long member of St James Lutheran Church, in Bergholz and she enjoyed doing macrame.
    Survivors include her former husband, Larry Blake, two sons, Steven Voelker and Christopher Blake, both of Bergholz, and two brothers Mark (Jan) Voelker and Earl (Ruth) Voelker both of Bergholz.
    Friends may call at the DuBois Funeral Home 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz in Wheatfield on Wednesday from 6-9 PM. Services will be conducted by the Rev. David Menz on Thursday at 11 AM in St James Ev. Lutheran Church, Bergholz. Internment in St James Lutheran Cemetery.

    EAST AURORA — Randy Dean Mellenthine, age 58, of East Aurora, formerly of North Tonawanda, unexpectedly, December 20, 2012 in Buffalo Mercy Hospital. Randy worked as a bartender and waiter for many local restaurants in Western New York. He loved music and was a triple drummer for the Hamburg K Percussion Line.

    Beloved husband of Diane (Barrie) Mellenthine; stepfather of William (Anita) Fralick, James Fralick, Michael (Kristen) Fralick and Leah Rammacher; grandfather of Riley, Tristin, Kyran, Taylor, Mikayla and Madison; brother of Douglas (Sherry) Mellenthine of Batavia. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

    Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home Inc., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd., in North Tonawanda, Thursday from 1-4 & 6-8 PM. A funeral service will begin at 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association.
