Mrs. Anna D. Ferchen, 61 years old, wife of John Ferchen of Bergholtz, died at the family home Thursday night. Mrs. Ferchen was born in Bergholtz, and lived there all her life. Besides her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Albert Haseley, Mrs. Albert Milleville, and Mrs. Albert Dubois; four sons, Henry, John, Philip and Edward Ferchen of Bergholtz; and three brothers, Henry Voelker of Bergholtz, Fred Voelker of Chicago and Philip C. Henry Voelker, 70 years old, a lifelong resident of Bergholz, died yesterday at his home on the Niagara road. He had been in ill health for the past eleven years but it was not until Tuesday, when he was stricken with paralysis, that his condition became serious. For the past 30 years Mr. Voelker had been proprietor of a general store at Bergholz. Was Born in Bergholtz; Had Lived There 70 Years.
BERGHOLTZ, July 28.-Henry Voelker, Sr., of Niagara street, who died at his home, removes one of the best known residents of Niagara county. Born in this village 70 years ago, he lived here all his life. For the past 30 years he had been proprietor of a general store on Niagara. street. Last week Tuesday he was stricken with paralysis from which he died Thursday morning. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the family home, and the St. Jacob's church, the Rev. Otto Bruss officiating. Burial was in St. Jacob's cemetery. The floral tributes were many And beautiful. He leaves a wide circle of friends, and is survived by his wife, Augusta. three sons, John of Buffalo, Charles, Niagara Falls, and Henry Jr. of this village, seven daughters, the Misses Louise and Esther Voelker, of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Leberecht Schultz and Mrs. Albert Grobengieser, of Niagara Falls, and Mrs. George Heuer, Mrs. Valerius Ferchen and Mrs. Reinhard Wienke, of this village, and 20 grandchildren.

WHEATFIELD-Mrs. Anna Christine DuBois, 2363 Niagara Road, a lifelong resident here, died today (March 6, 1965) at Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital after a short illness. She Was 76.
She was a member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Women's Missionary League.

Loretta Atwater passed away on December 31, 2012 at Good Shepherd Services in Seymour, WI. She was born on April 27, 1922 in Lyndonville, NY, the daughter of the late Fred and Vinona Voelker. She married the late Elwood Atwater April 25, 1942. He passed away on June 12, 2007.
Loretta is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Tarajos of Lockport, NY; her son, Jeffrey (Karen) Atwater of Appleton, WI; four grandchildren, Lisa (Ron) Bolt of East Amherst, NY, Deniale (Todd) Steffen of Merrill, WI, Ryan (Lisa) Atwater of Green Bay, WI and Tracy (John) Larson of Appleton, WI; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Marcia (Paul) Kenyon of Lyndonville, NY. She was predeceased by her sister, Bernice (William) Balschmiter; and her brothers, Leland and Raymond Voelker.
Loretta and Elwood lived in Somerset, NY, for many years. Loretta retired from Harrison Radiator, General Motors, May 1977. After retiring, she and Elwood moved to St. Petersburg, FL, where they lived until 2000. They then moved to Appleton, WI. Loretta and Elwood enjoyed traveling and went on 22 cruises and drove cross-country many times.

Fremont C. Ferchen, age 89, of Wheatfield, was called to his heavenly home on Sunday, January 25, 2009. Born in the Town of Wheatfield, Niagara County, NY, on May 10, 1919 to the late John and Albertine (Haseley) Ferchen. He was a lifelong resident of Wheatfield and a life long member of St. James Ev. Lutheran Church in Bergholz, where he served as President, Chairman of the Church Council and Memorial Committee, and a Sunday School teacher. Fremont was active in local politics, serving nine years as Justice of the Peace, 14 years as a Niagara County Legislator and one year as County Executive. He was a graduate of Niagara University and received his Master's Degree from the University of Illinois. Fremont was a mathematics teacher at LaSalle Senior High School for 27 years. He was a recipient of the National Science Award at Columbia University. A World War II Veteran, Fremont was a Master Sergeant in the 12th Army group and served in Iceland and Europe. He was involved in the planning of Operation Overlord (Normandy Invasion).Fremont was a member of the Wheatfield Republican Club, the American Legion Wheatfield Post 1451, Lions Club and B and E Club. He loved gardening, flowers, euchre, fishing, baseball and travel.Beloved husband of June (DeVantier) Ferchen; loving father of Colleen (Richard) Forsey and Deborah (Michael) Ciccone, both of Rochester; cherished grandfather of Jennifer Forsey of Rochester, Stephanie (Jacob) Martin of Freeport, ME and Christine Parry of Rochester. Gregory Ferchen, 34, of the Sy road, town of Wheatfield, died yesterday after a prolonged illness. A lifelong resident of the town of Wheatfield, he was a member of the Holy Ghost Lutheran church in Bergholz. He leaves his mother, Mrs. Edward Rubbert of the Old Falls boulevard, town of Niagara, and a brother, Edwin Ferchen, town of Wheatfield. Rites will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the home of his mother and at 2:30 from the Holy Ghost church. The Rev. John Kuchenbecker will officiate. Burial will be in the Holy Ghost cemetery.

LEWISTON - Norman W.G. Haseley, 89, of Saunders Settlement Road, died Monday (Oct. 7, 1996) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital.
He was born Dec. 18, 1906, in Lewiston, the son of Albert and Anna (Ferchen) Haseley.
On Nov. 16, 1932, he married Myra Haseley. She died in April 1956.
He was a produce farmer all of his life. A lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church on Walmore Road, Mr. Haseley served as trustee.
Survivors include two sons, Harold Haseley and Duane Haseley, both of Niagara Falls; a daughter, Marie LaPress of Youngstown; six brothers, Marcus Haseley, William Haseley and Benjamin Haseley, all of Sanborn, Wallace Haseley, Richard Haseley and Albert Haseley, all of Wheatfield; a sister, Lydia Stoelting of Wheatfield; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Esther Beutel and was also predeceased by a great-grandson.
Visitation Will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz. The Rev. David B. Menz will conduct services at noon Thursday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church on Walmore Road. Interment will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield.

Marcus A. W. Haseley, a life long resident of Sanborn, was called to his eternal home on Sept.10, 2010 at Fairchild Manor, Lewiston, NY. He was 101. Mr. Haseley was born in the Town of Lewiston, NY on Jan 23, 1909, He was the son of Albert and Anna (Ferchen) Haseley and attended local schools. Mr. Haseley was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Sanborn where he served as President, Trustee, School Building Committee member, Cemetery Committee Chairman, and various other positions. He was also a member of the church choir for more than 50 yrs. He was also a member of the Historical Society of North German Settlements in Western New York. In his youth, Mr. Haseley worked on the family farm until he began working at J. J. Haseley & Sons produce farm in Sanborn. He marketed and delivered produce to the Niagara Falls & Clinton-Bailey Markets for over 50 years before retiring in 1980. He was the oldest exempt member of the Sanborn Fire Company (82 yrs.). In his retirement, he enjoyed gardening, and was known for his roadside produce stand. He was an avid golfer, watched hockey, football, and baseball and enjoyed pheasant and deer hunting in his earlier years. He married his wife of 69 yrs, the former Lizzie D. Pfohl on Jan 12, 1939. Lizzie died in 2008. Survivors include sons, Rev. Ronald M.(Joanne) of Greensburg, IN; Frederick W. (Christy) of Roseville, CA; Mark J.(Marilyn) of Ransomville; sister Lydia Stoelting of Wheatfield. He is also survived by five grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. He was brother to the late Norman, Wallace, Esther Beutel, William, Richard, Benjamin, and Albert. Wallace P. Haseley, age 97, of Bergholz, was called to his heavenly home on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 after extended Hospice care, at his residence. Born in the Town of Lewiston, Niagara County, NY on August 3, 1910 to the late Albert and Anna (Ferchen) Haseley. He attended St. Peter's Lutheran School and the former Sanborn School. Wallace was employed as a millwright at General Abrasives for forty years, retiring in 1975. He was an active member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Bergholz, were he served as a former financial secretary, was involved with the building of both the church and school, and was a grounds keeper at Holy Ghost Lutheran Cemetery. He enjoyed gardening, watching sports, was a mechanical repairman and all around handyman, who always enjoyed his family and especially his grandchildren. Survivors include six children: Marlene (Bernhard) Langhart of Long Island, Lorna (Wayne) Wentzel of Michigan, Roger W. William A. Haseley, 89, a former coal delivery driver and mill foreman, died Monday (Nov. 10, 2003) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after an unexpected illness.
He was born in Lewiston and attended local schools.
Haseley was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where he was chairman of the parish Board of Education, a trustee and a member of the Call Committee and Second School Building Committee.
He attended church and Sunday school regularly until his death. He was also a member of the Historical Society of North German Settlements in Western New York.
In his youth, Haseley worked on the family farm until he began working at the Thiele family farm in North Tonawanda. He later worked as a coal delivery driver and mill foreman for Thiele Coal & Feed, North Tonawanda, from which he retired at age 65 after 48 years of service.
He enjoyed gardening, and he was known for his strawberries and produce and taking care of his lawn. He was an avid New York Yankees baseball fan, watched football and hockey and went deer hunting in his earlier years.
He was married to Irma Helene. Walck, who died in 1989.
Survivors include a daughter, Iris of Sanborn; a son, Gary of Sanborn; four brothers, Wallace of Bergholz, and Albert, Marcus and Benjamin, all of Sanborn; a sister, Lydia Stoelting of Wheatfield; and two grandsons.
Services will be held at 11 A.M. Friday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 6167 Walmore Road, Wheatfield. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.

Richard H. Haseley, a Carborundum Co. retiree who served on the board of directors of Niagara Lutheran Home, died Tuesday (Dec. 31, 2002) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston. He was 86.
A Town of Lewiston native, Haseley worked as a machinist for Carborundum's Coated Abrasives Division in Wheatfield. He retired in the early 1980s after a 42-year career.
He was an active member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bergholz and served as an elder, trustee and president of the local branch of the Aid Association for Lutherans.
Haseley was chaplain of Wheatfield Senior Citizens and served nine years as a trustee of Niagara Lutheran Home in Buffalo.
His wife, Helma DeVantier Haseley, died in 1991.
Survivors include three daughters, Eileen of Sanborn, Joyce Schultz of North Tonawanda and Sharon Arkins of Amherst; a son, Wayne of Atlanta; five brothers, Marcus, William and Benjamin, all of Sanborn, and Wallace and Albert, both of Wheatfield; a sister, Lydia Stoelting of Wheatfield; nine grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.

He was employed at the Kimberly Clark Company and Carborundum Company, retiring in 1983. Lydia was a member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Bergholz, where she had been an active member in the Ladies Aid, Alter Guild, Sunday School teacher, and Holy Ghost Seniors. She was also a member of the Wheatfield Seniors. Lydia was employed at the Carborundum Company in Niagara Falls, and later for the Niagara Wheatfield Central School District, retiring in 1986 as the head custodian. She served as a past president of the Niagara Wheatfield Non-instructional Association and a member of the Niagara Wheatfield Retirees. Lydia enjoyed doing Wonder Word Puzzles, reading, traveling and cooking.
Survivors include three children, Jane Nichols, Roy Stoelting and Larry Stoelting; grandchildren, Cheryl (Mike) Newton and Christine Stoelting; great-grandchildren, Jason (Ashley) Scarf, Justin Scarf, Nichole Newton, Nathan Newton and Jayson Newton; sister in law, Gladys Haseley; and many nieces and nephews.

Milleville, of Maple Drive, worked in the business office at the Carborundum Co. in Niagara Falls for over 40 years and retired in the mid-1980s.
He enjoyed music, playing the piano and singing in various choirs in the area, including the Western New York Lutheran Men's Choir and the St. James Choir.

Born in Wheatfield, he graduated from LaSalle High School in 1936 and married the Elizabeth Ziemendorf on July 19, 1947.
He served as a Wheatfield assessor during the 1950s and was employed at Moore Business Forms for 27 years. He also worked for Summit Park Mall for 20 years, retiring in 1991.
Mr. Milleville was a lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church in Bergholz, where he served as president of many committees. He had a great interest in Christian education and evangelism. He also enjoyed gardening and woodworking.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Nancy of Sanborn; two sons, Dan of Arnold, Md., and Jon of Wheaton, ILl.; and five grandchildren.

Woman hit by/car, killed
WHEATFIELD - A 61-year-old woman was killed Monday when she was struck by an car in front of her home.
Pronounced dead at DeGraff Memorial Hospital was Rose Milleville of 6731 Ward Road. She suffered massive head, and leg injuries in the accident. According to sheriff's deputies, the woman was hit by a car driven by Kenneth Beutel, 46, of 2427 Lockport Road, as he traveled north on the unlighted road.
Deputies reported the car had only one working headlight. An investigation into the incident was continuing.
Miss Milleville was a lifelong resident of Wheatfield and was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and the Women of the Church. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Rosina Milleville.
She is survived by two brothers, Gerhard W. and Albert E. Milleville, both of Wheatfield; five sisters, Anna Moll, Mrs. Arnold (Louise) Wendt, Sophia Schultz, all of Wheatfield, Mrs. Paul (Mabel) Klemm of Woonsacket, S.D., and Mrs. Howard (Judith) Stroble of Cardington, OH; and several nieces and nephews. Marion, OH - Judith Grace Milleville Stroble, age 94 of Marion, passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Marion General Hospital. She was born in Niagara County, New York, on August 7, 1926, the youngest child of Albert and Rosina (Ferchen) Milleville. In 1944, she graduated from LaSalle High School and became a bookkeeper and secretary in the law offices of Phelps, Gray, Mansour & Hewitt, Niagara Falls, New York. On June 15, 1952, she was married to Howard M. Stroble, whom she had met in 1949 on Mount Rainier while both were on a post-convention tour of the National Luther League convention. They moved to Muscatine, Iowa, where Howard served his intern year at Zion Lutheran Church and Judy continued with secretarial work. On their return to Columbus, she was the secretary to the Construction Engineer of the Ohio Turnpike Commission. Following Pastor Stroble's graduation from Lutheran Seminary in 1954 in Columbus, Ohio, and ordination in Zion Lutheran Church, Hartford City, Indiana, they served churches in WaKeeney, Kansas; Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada; Saginaw, Michigan; Alma and Republican City, Nebraska; Union City, Indiana; and St. John Lutheran Church (Windfall) in Cardington, Ohio. In Marion, Judy worked in the law offices of Eugene A. Yazel and Brent A. Rowland, and Pastor Stroble was the ARMS Chaplain until his passing on November 2, 2004. Thankful to be a member of the Holy Christian Church, Judy was very active in her work as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, and ACLW officer. She planned many programs for Christmas, Mother's Day, and special anniversaries. She also spent many hours on Lutheran World Relief projects, especially the quilts and layettes. At her daughter's urging, she wrote "Wasn't it amazing, Judy Grace," which included the story of her German and French-Huguenot (Protestant) background, highlights of their years in the various churches, and favorite recipes she collected along the way. Her cinnamon rolls were the best! Judy is survived by her son, Kevin Luther Stroble, of Marion and her daughter, Ruth Jeannine Roberts, of Moriarty, NM. She is also survived by a grandson, William Howard (Jacque) Roberts; a great-granddaughter, Lahna Jewel Roberts; and a granddaughter, Linden Rose (Bart) Roberts. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and their extended families, as well as special friends like Linda Ruehrmund. She was predeceased by 4 sisters, 3 brothers, 3 half-sisters, and 1 half-brother, as well as 7 nieces and 1 nephew. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 1 pm at Marion Cemetery with Deacon Kevin Kehn of Emanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow. Arthur P.J. DuBois, 93, who served for 65 years with Bergholz Fire Company, died Monday (July 28, 2003) in Elderwood Health Care Center at CrestWood after a brief illness.
He was born in the Town of Niagara and attended local schools.
DuBois was a lifelong member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, Bergholz, where he served as trustee, elder, vice chairman, chairman and treasurer of its board. He also served on the Building Committee and several other committees and boards.
He was also a former member of the Lutheran Layman's League.
A charter member of Bergholz Fire Company, DuBois served as assistant secretary, secretary, vice president and president and was a member of the Building Committee. He also played with the Bergholz German Band for more than 30 years.
He worked as maintenance superintendent at General Abrasives in Niagara Falls for 44 years, retiring in 1975.
DuBois enjoyed vegetable gardening.
His wife of 61 years, Marion Haseley-Walck DuBois, died in 1996.
Survivors include a son, Duane of Sanborn; a daughter, Jane Andrews of Sanborn; a brother, Walter of Niagara Falls; and two granddaughters.

A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of the American Legion Wheatfield Post 1451.
Mr. DuBois was employed at General Abrasives in Niagara Falls as a millwright for 41 years. He retired in 1987.
He was an exempt member of the Bergholz Volunteer Fire County, a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church on Walmore Road and a member of the Wheatfield Senior Citizens.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Emily (Walck) DuBois, who died on Feb. 3, 1980. Mr. DuBois is survived by his second wife, Ardis (Haseley) DuBois of Wheatfield; two sons, Douglas DuBois of Amherst and Calvin DuBois of Sanborn; a stepson, Gary Wolf of Wheatfield; a step-daughter, Barbara Savard of Riverside, Calif.; two brothers, Arthur DuBois of Wheatfield and Walter DuBois of Niagara Falls; two sisters, Eleanor Wienke of Wheatfield and Elizabeth Heuer of Bergholz; a granddaughter; a grandson; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Minnie Camann, Ruth Hassan, William DuBois and Edwin DuBois. Mrs. Weigand worked as a laborer at Shredded Wheat, Niagara Falls, and at Carborundum Co.
She and her husband, Adolph, enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. He died in 1986.

Kenneth E. Voelker, 86, of Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, entered into rest on Sunday, August 10, 2008 surrounded by his loving family. The son of the late Edward and Elsie (Frye) Voelker, Kenneth was born on November 20, 1921 in Bergholz, NY, where he attended a one-room schoolhouse from first through eighth grade. Ken graduated from LaSalle Senior High School in 1939 and Kelley Business Institute in 1940 where he studied Accounting and was President of his class. While serving in WWII, Ken also attended Stanford University. Kenneth was a WWII veteran, serving with the 593rd Joint Assault Signal Company, 96th Infantry Division. As a member of the 96th Infantry Division, Ken was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation in recognition of extraordinary heroism in action against the enemy in the conquest of Okinawa from April 1945 to June 1945.A resident of Niagara Falls since 1946, Mr. Voelker worked at Airco Speer Carbon, retiring in 1982 after 42 years of service. He was active in establishing the Credit Union at Airco (formerly International Graphite), was a member of the Industrial Engineer Society and a member of St. James United Methodist Church. He also enjoyed many years of playing softball for Airco and was one of the oldest pitchers in the league. He enjoyed bowling and was a sports fan, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his wife and family.Ken is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth (Dutton) Voelker; his two daughters, Bonnie (James) O’Neill, Beverly (Rick) Ponzi, five granddaughters, Holly (Robert) Gonzalez, Stacey (Gary) Lucinski, Jamie O’Neill, Jaclyn Ponzi, Andrea Ponzi (fiancé Bill Milleville), and also five great granddaughters. WHEATFIELD-Edna (Schimschack) Pfohl, 76, of Lockport Road, died. Friday (Feb. 12, 1993), in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Town of Lewiston. She was born in Wheatfield on Feb. 2, 1917, to August and Hulda (Voelker) Schimschack. After marrying Wallace "Wally" Pfohl on Oct. 19, 1942, she and her husband worked on the family's dairy farm. Mrs. Pfohl traveled with her husband and five bands, including the Bergholz German Band, throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church on Walmore Road, and an active member of the Women of the Church for several years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Carol Walck of Sanborn; a son, Harry Dickenson of Wheatfield; two sisters, Irma DeVantier and Eunice Heuer, both of Bergholz; three brothers, Alvin Schimschack and Wilbert Schimschack, both of Bergholz, and Donald Schimschack of North Tonawanda; three grandchildren; a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to. 9 p.m. Monday at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road. The . Rev. Herbert R. Maxwell will conduct services at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church on Walmore Road. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield. Alvin A. Schimschack, 78, of Schultz Street, a former inspector at the Carborundum Co. Abrasives Division in Wheatfield, died Thursday (Oct. 30, 1997) at his home.
He was a lifelong resident of Wheatfield.
Schimschack served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Wheatfield Post 1451, American Legion, and of Friedens United Church of Christ in North Tonawanda, where he served on various boards. He was the church cemetery sexton for many years.
Schimschack enjoyed woodworking and baseball.
His wife, the former Leona Jaeger, died in 1995.
Survivors include a son, William of Wheatfield; a sister, Eunice Heuer; a brother, Donald of North Tonawanda; two grandsons; and two great-grandsons.
A private grave side service will be held with the family in Friedens Cemetery, Wheatfield. A memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday in Friedens United Church of Christ, 170 Schenck St., North Tonawanda.

Schimschack, 74, of Schultz Street died Friday (Jan. 6, 1995) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a long illness.
He had worked at the former Bergholz Garage, where he was part owner, and at Bell Aircraft. He worked as a custodian for the Niagara-Wheatfield School District until retiring in 1979.
He was an exempt member of the Bergholz Volunteer Fire Department, serving more than 50 years.
Survivors include his wife, the former Helen L. Kroening; two sisters, Irma DeVantier and Eunice Heuer; and two brothers, Donald of North Tonawanda and Alvin.
The Bergholz Volunteer Fire Department will hold a memorial service at 7 P.M. today in DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road.

Eunice E. Heuer (Schimschack), age 80, of Washington Street, Bergholz, was called unexpectedly to her heavenly home on Sunday, June 15, 2008 at Mount St. Mary's Hospital. Born in the Town of Wheatfield, Niagara County, NY on August 29, 1927 to the late William and Hulda (Voelker) Schimschack. Eunice was a lifelong member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, where she was active in various organizations in the church over the years. She was a former active member of Tri-Community Ambulance Service and was a member of the Bergholz Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, Wheatfield Seniors, Wheatfield Democratic Club, an elections inspector with the Niagara County Board of Elections, enjoyed playing euchre and pinochle, baking and candy making. Eunice had been employed at the Carborundum Company, coated abrasives division, helped operate the former family store in Niagara Falls, Heuer's Market with her husband, and then at Sanger's Market.Survivors include her daughter, Kathleen (Keith) Potter of Bergholz; granddaughter, Bethany Potter; longtime friend, Beulah; great-granddog, Murphy; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Lewis N. Heuer on January 21, 1994. NIAGARA FALLS - Edgar L. Schultz, 87, of Weston Avenue, died Dec. 21, 1993, at Niagara Falls Memorial Nursing Home after a short illness. A native of Niagara Falls, Schultz was born June 17, 1906, the son of Lebrecht and Auguste (Voelker)
He was employed as an accountant for more than 30 years with various businesses in Niagara Falls and enjoyed a second career with the Maid of the Mist Corp. for 21 years.
He was a member of St. Paul Calvary Lutheran Church.
In 1990, Mr. Schultz was recognized by Channel 7 as an Outstanding Senior Citizen.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Meyer) Schultz of Niagara Falls; two sons, Peter M. Schultz of Oswego and Jonathan M. Schultz of Lewiston; a brother, Alfred Schultz of Niagara Falls; a sister, Esther Greinert of North Tonawanda; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

NORTH TONAWANDA - Alfred E. Schultz, 97, of Nash Road, North Tonawanda, died on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 in DeGraff Memorial Hospital. Born March 14, 1913 in Niagara Falls, the son of Lebrecht and Auguste (Voelker) Schultz.

A graduate of Niagara Falls High School, Al worked in the order department of the bonded division of the Carborundum Company for 33 years, retiring in 1978.

A lifelong member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Niagara Falls, he served on various church councils and committees, including treasurer for 15 years. Al was a volunteer for Meals On Wheels for 25 years; an avid gardener and was active in bowling and softball for several years.

Al’s beloved wife of 66 years, Ruth D. Schultz predeceased him in 2004. Survivors include a daughter, Linda J. (Jay) Dillinger of Tampa, FL; two sons, James A. (Connie) Schultz of Fayetteville, GA and Paul T. (Joyce) Schultz of North Tonawanda; a sister, Esther E. Greinert of North Tonawanda; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Edgar Schultz and a sister, Gertrude L. Roesener.

NIAGARA FALLS - George "Chick" Heuer, age 89, was called to his heavenly home to be with our Lord and Savior on September 19, 2010 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. He was born in the Town of Wheatfield, NY on March 20, 1921 to the late George and Christine Heuer. George was predeceased by his loving wife, Helma (DeVantier) Heuer on December 26, 1986. They were united in marriage on August 3, 1946. George served in the U.S. Army in the 28th Infantry Division as a Heavy Machine Gunner during World War II. He was wounded in battle in Normandy, France on August 11, 1944, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. George was employed for 43 years at the National Grinding Wheel in North Tonawanda, retiring in 1984. He was a longtime member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Bergholz, where he held numerous offices over the years, including elder and sang for many years in the choir. He was chairman of the Building Committee during the construction of the church. He was a member of the Bergholz Volunteer Fire Company for over 70 years and a former foreman and assistant chief. George was also a member of the Wheatfield Senior Citizens.

Survivors include two devoted daughters, Cynthia and Marcia Heuer of Wheatfield; a sister, Lillian (late Chester) Haseley of Sanborn and brother-in-law, Dennis (Doris) DeVantier of Wheatfield; and several nephews and a niece. In addition to his wife, he was also predeceased by two brothers, Martin and Arthur Heuer and a sister, Hildegarde.

NIAGARA FALLS - Edward H. Grobengieser, who operated a family grocery here for 60 years, died Wednesday in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, following a brief illness. He was 91. The Niagara Falls native attended local schools and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Grobengieser's father opened Grobengieser & Sons on the corner of 18th Street and South Avenue in 1924. Edward Grobengieser operated the store, also known as "Grobie's," alongside his father and brother for 60 years. After closing the store, Mr. Grobengieser volunteered with the Meals on Wheels program at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church for over 20 years. He enjoyed boating, airplanes, electronics and photography and the family cabin in Canisteo. A memorial service will be held at 1 P.M. Born Helen Grobengieser in Niagara Falls, she worked in the family grocery store for many years after graduating from Niagara Falls High School in 1940 with top honors. Grobengieser & Sons, the family store, was located on 18th Street and South Avenue in Niagara Falls for 65 years.
A homemaker for most of her life, she was a lifelong member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Niagara Falls. She enjoyed bowling, cooking, gardening and trips to the family cabin in Canisteo.
Her husband, Daniel, died in 1979.
She is survived by three sons, Robert of Crossville, TN., James of Wolcott and Mark of Grand Island; a brother, Edward Grobengieser of Niagara Falls; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held today in St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Niagara Falls.

NIAGARA FALLS - Robert E. Ferchen, age 82, of Bergholz, was called to his heavenly home on November 1, 2010 in Mount St. Mary's Hospital. Born in the Town of Wheatfield, NY, on January 2, 1928 to the late Valerius and Helene (Voelker) Ferchen.

A lifelong member of St. James Ev. Lutheran Church, Bergholz. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Wendt on June 3, 1950. She entered into rest December 5, 1997. Robert is a U.S. Army veteran and was a member of the American Legion- Wheatfield Post 1451 and an exempt member of the Bergholz Volunteer Fire Company. His hobbies and interests included baseball, playing euchre and gardening. He was employed at Canlake-Ashland Oil Company and NOCO in Tonawanda, retiring as a supervisor in 1990.

Survivors include two children, Cary (Laura) Ferchen and Claudia Ferchen; grandchildren, Christopher (Michelle) Ferchen, Donna (Ron) Ferchen, Tim (fiancee Franci) Ferchen and Jonathan Ferchen; step-grandchildren, Lisa (Andrew) Ferree and Erin (Michael) Jankowiak; a great-grandchild, Savannah and step-great-grandchildren, Andrew, Hannah and Madison; and several nieces and nephews. BERGHOLZ - Janice R. (Wienke) Camann, 65, of Luther Street, died Thursday (April 7, 1988) at her home. She was born in Niagara Falls and was a long-time resident of Bergholz. She was an active member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church Ladies Aid, Lutheran Women's Missonary (sic) League, Altar Guild and the Quilting Group. She was also active in the Historical Society of the North German Settlement in Western New York. Mrs. Camann is survived by her husband, Eugene W. HAROLD R. WIENKE, age 93 of Bergholz, Town of Wheatfield, NY, entered into his heavenly home on January 1, 2019 at the Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on January 12, 1925; son of the late Reinhard and Gertrude (Voelker) Wienke. Harold attended St. James Lutheran School, LaSalle High School, and Coyne Electrical College, in Chicago, IL. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943 and was assigned to the Carrier Aircraft Service Unit, where he did electrical service work on single engine fighter planes, Grumman F6F and Corsair F4U. He was honorably discharged in May 21, 1946, AEM2nd C.
Harold joined his father's business, R.E. Wienke & Son, Electrical Contractors, retiring in 1987. He was a charter member of the American Legion Wheatfield Post 1451, and was active in obtaining the Post's first home on Rohr Street, in Bergholz, a one-room schoolhouse, as a gift from the local school district. Harold served in various offices in the Legion, including Commander. He headed the grave-decorating committee for many years and often took his grandchildren with him, to place or collect flags at Niagara County cemeteries. Harold was a charter member of the Wheatfield Business Association, and served as its first treasurer. He joined the Bergholz Volunteer Fire Company, at the age of 21, and was a 72 year exempt member, serving various offices including President. Harold was a life long member of St. James Lutheran Church, in Bergholz, where he was baptized, confirmed and married by his neighbor, the Rev. Otto Bruss. During most of his life, he lived just a few steps from his beloved St. James.
Harold enjoyed family get-togethers and dinners, backyard softball, board games, cards and bowling. His bowling team consisted of seven other American Legion members, who were also all Lutherans from different area churches.
Harold enjoyed his B&E (Baseball and Euchre). The club had monthly card games, dinners and picnics, and a yearly trip to a major league ballpark for the weekend.
Baseball was Harold's favorite sport. In later years he enjoyed watching the Yankee Channel on TV. In the past, he and four friends saw the Cleveland Indians win a 1948 World Series game, where he saw center fielder Larry Doby play, who was the first Afro-American League player. Over the years, he and his wife, Peggy, visited 15 major league cities to see games.
Harold married his high school sweetheart, Peggy Lou Parris, on August 21, 1948, enjoying 70 years of marriage. She predeceased Harold just three months ago, passing away on October 1, 2018.
Also preceding him in death was his sister, Janice and brother in law, Eugene Camann. Harold's parent's both came from large families. His father, Reinhard Wienke, had 11 sisters and brothers, and his mother, Gertrude Voelker, had 10 sisters and brothers. Of the many Voelker cousins (21), Lois Milleville, is the only surviving cousin.
Harold is survived b y his two daughters, Jennifer Parris (David Hardy) and Suzanne Wienke (Christine Pyjas); grandchildren, Richard (Heather) Skorik, Andrew Skorik, Tiffany (Darren) Palmer, Lindsey Graca, and Eric (Trista) Graca; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Kristin, Drake, Serena, Nadia, Nathaniel, Autumn and Kailan. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and dear family friend, Erich Marzahl.
Private services for the immediate family will be conducted by the Rev. Dan Tabor, at DuBois Funeral Home (Bergholz) in Wheatfield. Interment will follow in St. James Lutheran Cemetery, with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to St. James Lutheran Church, Bergholz, or Niagara Hospice.

Lois J. (Voelker) Milleville, 90, of Wheatfield, NY, was carried into the loving arms of Jesus on December 13, 2019 at Niagara Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family.  Born on January 3, 1929 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Frances (Haseley) Voelker. Lois attended St. James Parochial School and LaSalle Jr./Sr. High School.

Mrs. Milleville, also known to family and friends as “Grandma Dolly,” and the “matriarch” of her large, growing family, had a standard; love of God, love of family and working diligently.  She was selfless and leaves behind a legacy of service and love for others.  Lois’ spiritual journey began as a young child, being baptized at St. James Lutheran Church, and she practiced her faith in her daily walk as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She stayed faithful to God as an active member of St. James, serving as president of Women of the Church, a leader of Lutheran World Relief Quilter Group (producing over 100 quilts per year) and sang in their choir. She and her husband Wilbert were destined to find love. Born one day apart, growing up only a mile away from each other, attending their entire schooling together, both coming from a deep German/Lutheran heritage and being raised in the same church.  Lois and Wilbert married on June 11, 1949 at St. James Lutheran Church.  Wilbert was her lifelong love, sweetheart and partner until he sadly went to be with the Lord on June 23, 2014, after 65 years of marriage.  Her love of family began to grow as their family became larger, which also transitioned into her taking pride in her work.  Mrs. Milleville was active in the day-to-day operations of Milleville Farms, including farming and office work.  Lois enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends throughout the world and annually enjoyed spending time with Wilbert, family and friends at a resort in Kissimmee, FL, where they had vacationed since 2002.  She took great pride and delight in sewing baby quilts for all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Mrs. Milleville was an excellent cook and baker.  Her pie making skills were legendary and her “go to” dessert for any and all occasions.

Lois was the beloved mother of Kathleen L. (John G. III) Miskey, John R. (Joyce) Milleville, Lee W. (Maureen) Milleville, Mary Ann (R.Steven) Kowalski, David E. (Jane) Milleville and Timothy C. (Donna) Milleville; the cherished grandmother of 20 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Elva (late Edgar) Walck, Jean (Richard) St. John and Lois (late Dale) Bush and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to her parents and spouse, Lois was predeceased by a sister, Phyllis (late Colonel, Raymond) Wienk.

Chester G. Ziehm, 71, a resident of Grand Island, died Tuesday (Jan. 24, 1995) in Sisters Hospital.
Ziehm was born in the Town of Wheatfield and served in the Army in Europe during World War II.
He graduated from the University of Buffalo School of Business Management and worked for several years at Carborundum Co. and Standard Oil Co. in Cleveland.
He was a member of First Trinity Lutheran Church. He also was a charter member of Wheatfield Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a member of the Grand Island Rod & Gun Club.
Surviving are his wife, Rosemarie Brym-Conrad Ziehm; three sons, David of Bergholz, William of Chicago and John of Niagara Falls; a daughter, Marion Wendt of Grand Island; a brother, Morris of Schenectady; two sisters, Pearl Ward and Yvonne Bricca, both of Wheatfield; and six grandchildren.

TONAWANDA, Aug. 19. (AP)-Doris Ziehm, two-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Grover Ziehm. died at a hospital today from the effects of gasoline which she drank at her home last night.
The child, her parents said, left the dinner table last night and went out in the yard to play. A short time later the parents heard a scream and upon investigation found the child lying in the yard with a small gasoline can in her hand. At the hospital it was said the child died from an internal hemorrhage and convulsions brought on by the gasoline she had drunk.
Besides the parents, a sister, Pearl, and a brother, Chester, survive. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home and half an hour later at St. Jacob's Church, Bergholz. The Rev. Otto Bruss will conduct the services and burial will be in St. Jacob's cemetery

Morris (Moe) Ziehm went home to be with his Lord & Savior January 16, 2021 at Ellis Hospital after a long illness. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, November 19, 1932, he was the son of the late Grover and Clara Ziehm. Surviving are his loving wife of 61 years, Yvonne. Children Doris Krom (Tom), Douglas Ziehm (Sharon), Deborah Adams (Christopher), Daniel Ziehm (Lucinda). Morris graduated in 1959 from the University of Buffalo School of Engineering with a Bachelor of Science , then earned a Master of Science in Engineering from Union College. He was an associate professor of mechanical technology at Illinois Central College from 1968-1974. He then worked as an engineer at GE Large Steam Turbine retiring in 1994 after 29 years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and an active member of the church council for many years. PORT RICHEY, FL — William G. Gensler, age 70, of Port Richey, FL, formerly of Western New York, entered into rest on April 11, 2013. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on December 10, 1942, he was the son of the late Alfred and Mildred (Ferchen) Gensler. William was employed at US Steel in Oil City, PA and then relocated to Woodward, OK in 1986, where he was employed at Weatherford International, until his retirement, afterwards moving to Florida. He was an active member of the Masonic Moose Lodge.

Survivors include a son, Kevin (Michele) Gensler; daughter, Melissa (Larry) Dotson; brother, John (Susan) Gensler; three grandchildren, Jamison, Zachary and Ashlee; three nephews and one niece. Also predeceased by a sister, Kathy Mack.

OBITUARY

Clarice E. Becker of Sanborn, NY passed away on  Saturday, January 8, 2022, at her home under the loving care of her family and the wonderful nurses of Niagara Hospice.  She was born in Niagara Falls, NY on August 5, 1932, daughter of the late Edwin and Lydia [Walck]  Ferchen.

Clarice graduated from Niagara Falls High School. She was employed with the Niagara County Office for the Aging for many years before retiring.

Always known for taking the scenic route, Clarice enjoyed the journey as much as the destination.  If she wasn’t in her backyard gardening, Clarice was most likely visiting with the family she loved so much whether near or far.

Clarice was the wife of the late Wilfred W. "Bill"  Becker, who passed away in March of 2011. She is survived by  three daughters Barbara (Gregg) Gross, Diane (Gary) Marshall and Cathy (Kevin) Freiert, five grandchildren Derek (Viviana) Robinson, Heather (Mike) McCullen, Jamie (Luis) Roger, Amber and Taylor Marshall, five great grandchildren Ethan, Matthew and Jacob Robinson,Harper and Lennon Roger, two sisters Joyce (late Eugene) Coddington and Dorothy (late Robert) Jenneve,  also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, 6637 Luther Street, Niagara Falls, NY.
Memorials may be made in her name to Holy Ghost Lutheran Church or Niagara Hospice.
Interment in Holy Ghost Cemetery.

NIAGARA FALLS — Marie E. (nee Haseley) Lapress, 74, of Youngstown, NY, passed from this life on Saturday, July 20, 2013 in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center in Niagara Falls, NY, following a brief illness. Born on October 25, 1938 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Myra Haseley.

In 1972, Mrs. Lapress married Norman J. Lapress. He predeceased her in 2001. Throughout her life, Marie was primarily a homemaker. She attended St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sanborn, NY, as well as Messiah Lutheran Church in Lewiston, NY. Mrs. Lapress enjoyed puzzles, reading, crossword puzzles, music and watching baseball.

Mrs. Lapress is survived by two sons, Jamie Lapress of Niagara Falls, NY and George Lapress of Youngstown, NY; two brothers, Harold Haseley of the Town of Niagara, NY and Duane Haseley of Sanborn, NY; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will be present to receive friends on Wednesday, July 24th from 4-7 PM in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007), where a funeral service will follow visitation at 7:00 PM, with Rev. Pat Fleming officiating.

In Loving Memory of Ronald Marcus Haseley

Ronald Marcus Haseley, devoted husband, father, and Lutheran minister, peacefully passed away on May 28, 2023. His life was a testament to faith, compassion, and the transformative power of love.
Ronald was born on September 1, 1941, in Niagara Falls, New York, to the late Marcus and Lizzie Haseley. Educated in theology and ordained as a minister after completing his studies at Capital University and Trinity Lutheran Seminary. He dedicated his life to serving as a minister in Texas, Indiana, and Ohio for over 50 years. His sermons were marked by his profound knowledge of Scripture, his ability to translate its teachings into practical wisdom, and his gift for conveying spiritual guidance with both humility and clarity.
Ronald's ministry extended beyond the walls of the church. Outside of his pastoral duties, Ronald cherished his role as a loving husband to his beloved wife Joanne and as a nurturing father to his three children, Michael Haseley, Beth Shelton (Evan), and Laura Haseley Wilson (Andy). He created a home filled with love, where faith, kindness, and forgiveness flourished. Ronald's dedication to his family was unwavering, and he instilled in them the importance of a life lived with purpose and compassion. Ronald is also survived by eight grandchildren, Michelle, Ian, Sam, Caitlyn, Elizabeth, Marcus, Hannah and Michael and brother Fred Haseley.
A service to celebrate the life and ministry of Ronald Haseley will be held on June 6, 2023, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 4686 E Walnut St, Westerville, OH. Visitation at 10:00 with a service at 11:00. In honor of his memory, the family requests that donations be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Westerville, or Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio.
As we bid farewell to Ronald, we take solace in knowing that he has found eternal peace and has been embraced by the loving arms of the Father. We will hold his memory close, cherishing the profound impact he made on our lives.
