Haseley, 83 years old, who until his retirement several years ago was one of the best known farmers of this vicinity, died last evening at the family home in this village, after a short illness. Funeral services will be held from the home on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, standard time, and at 2: 30 from St. Peter's church at Walmore. The Rev. Edward Grabau will officiate and interment will be in Walmore cemetery. Mr. Haseley was born in Walmore on August 21, 1853, and had resided In this vicinity all his life. In former years he took an active interest in political and agricultural affairs and conducted one of the finest farms in this district. SANBORN, April 5.-Carl W. Haseley, 74, one of the oldest and best known residents of this vicinity, died yesterday at the family home in the Saunders Settlement road following an illness of about two weeks. Funeral services will be held from the home on Monday afternoon, April 7, at 2 o'clock and at 2:30 from St. Peter's Evangelical church at Walmore. The Rev. Edward Grabau will officiate and interment will be in Walmore cemetery. Mr. Haseley was born in the town of Wheatfield a son of the late Frederick Haseley and Wilhelmina (sic) Wendt, who came from Germany and settled in Wheatfield. He was formerly an active farmer but retired several years ago. Mr. Haseley is survived by one son, George. C., of the Saunders Settlement road, two brothers, the Rev. Rev. A. Haseley, Lake Elmo, Dies
The Rev. Albert Haseley, who served St. Paul's Lutheran church at Lake Elmo during his entire 61 years as a pastor, died Wednesday in a Stillwater hospital. He was 91.
He was graduated from Martin Luther seminary, Buffalo, N. Y, in Rev. Haseley 1891 and went to St. Paul's church. He remained in that pastorate until retiring in November, 1952.
Mrs. Haseley died in 1949. Surviving the clergyman are 4 sons. Gregor of St. Paul Park, the Rev. Leonard of Pittsburg, and Alfred and Gotthold, both of Lake Elmo; 1 daughter, Adelia of Lake Elmo; a sister, 15 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday in Lake Elmo at Christ Lutheran church, which has merged with St. Paul's church.

SANBORN-Philip S. Haseley, 76, well known farmer, of the Town of Lewiston, died at his home in Walmore Rd., Monday (March 5, 1956). He had been in ill health for some time.
He was born in Walmore Oct. 10, 1879, son of the late Frederick and Maria Fahrnwald Haseley. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Walmore.

SANBORN, Feb. 20.-The funeral of Mrs. Edna Haseley Kroening, aged 28 years, wife of Edwin Kroening of the Saunder's (sic) Settlement road, who died at Niagara Falls Memorial hospital on Tuesday, which was held from her late home on Friday at 2 p. m., and 2:30 p. m. from St. Peter's church at Walmore, was one of the largest ever held in this community. A wonderful profusion of beautiful floral tributes bespoke of the high esteem in which she was held by all who knew her. The bearers were cousins and included Messrs. Martin Pfohl, Edwin Haseley. SANBORN-Philip (Pete) W. Haseley, 47, of 5888 Walmore Road, died Friday (Feb. 24, 1967) in Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital after a four-day illness.
He was born in the Town of Lewiston on May 8, 1919, the son of Philip F. Haseley and Anna DeVantier Haseley. He had lived all his life at the Walmore Road address where he operated a farm.
Mr. Haseley was a life member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore, and was a member of the Sanborn Volunteer Fire Co. band for many years.
Survivors include his widow, the former Carol Bohl; a son, Robert, and a daughter, Judy, both at home; a brother, Mervin P. Haseley of Sanborn; a nephew, Paul Haseley, Sanborn, and several aunts and uncles.

She was born Sept. 12, 1913, in Wheatfield, the daughter of Adolf and Eleonore (Retzlaff) Haseley.
On Sept. 21. 1935, she married Arthur P. DuBois in Niagara Falls.
Mrs. DuBois was a member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. where she belonged to the Ladies Aide (sic) and Alter Guild for many years. She also was an exempt member of the Bergholz Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary.
She enjoyed needlepoint and crocheting.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Duane DuBois of Wheatfield; a daughter, Jane Andrews of Sanborn; two brothers, Melvin Walck of Farmington, Mich., and Norman Walck of Sanborn; two sisters, Helen Waldkoetter of North Tonawanda and Doris Toellner of Madison Heights. Mich.; two granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Chester Walck.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, where the Ladies Auxiliary of the Bergholz Fire Co. will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. today. The Rev. Philip N. Sallach will conduct services at 11 a.m. Monday in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, Niagara Road and Luther Street. Interment will be in Holy Ghost Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield.

Born Agnes Pfohl in the Town of Wheatfield, she attended local schools. She was a devoted homemaker and a lifelong, active member of St. Peter's Evangelical
Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of the Women of the Church.
She also was a member of the Sanbornite Senior Citizens and enjoyed many trips with the group.

He was a life long member of St. Peter Evangelical Church, Walmore, NY, where he had served as an elder and trustee. He was married in St. Peter's Church on October 30, 1938, to the former Norma A. Walck.
He was a loving and devoted husband and father, especially to his daughter Karen, who predeceased him.

Pfohl was born in Wheatfield on Nov. 12, 1918, the son of Anthony and Elsie (Haseley) Pfohl, and was a lifelong Wheatfield resident. In 1948, he and Clarence Kroening formed a partnership to operate the Sanborn Milling Co. Inc. He later bought Kroening's share. and continued to operate the business for another 15 years until his retirement in 1983.
Pfohl was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Sanborn, where he held various positions over the years. He. was an exempt member of. the Sanborn Fire Co. and the Sanborn Lions Club, and a former member of the LaSalle Sportsmen's Club.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Eleanor H. Devantier) Pfohl; a daughter, Ann Kroening of Sanborn; a son, Eugene Pfohl of Sanborn; a brother, Hubert Pfohl of Sanborn; a sister, Agnes Walck of Niagara Falls; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Young Man of 20 Called by Death
SANBORN, Jan. 11.-Howard C. Haseley, 21 years old, son of Mr. and Mrs. George C. Haseley, of the Saunders Settlement road, two miles west of this village, died today at the Memorial hospital, Niagara Falls. Mr. Haseley underwent an operation about three weeks ago and was on the road to recovery and removed to his home. Later a relapse developed and he was returned to the institution. Besides the parents, Mr. Haseley is survived by one brother, Milton, and one sister, Sylvia, both at home. Town Justice's Wife Dies at 41
NORTH TONAWANDA -Mrs. Helen Thiele Haseley, 41 of 4202 Lockport Road, Lockport, whose husband Gordon is town justice in Pendleton, died Sunday (Dec. 1, 1968) in DeGraff Memorial Hospital after an illness of a year. Born in this city, she was a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church.
In addition to her husband survivors include a son, Peter, and two daughters, Holley and Nancy, all at home; a brother, Henry Thiele and three sisters, Mrs. Douglas (Janette) Hartman, Miss Olga Thiele, and Mrs. Paul (Irene) Barrett, all of this city.

Warren E. Haseley of Port Washington passed to his eternal rest on October 20, 2018 at the age of 96. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Bernice (Antoine) of Port Washington, daughter Susan (Keith) Campbell of Richfield, and sons Gary (Debra) of Port Washington and Warren (Marjorie) of Mt. Prospect, IL. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, sister Nancy (Paul) Swatek of Lake Geneva, and brothers Donald (Lillian) Haseley of Port Washington and Eugene (the late Betty) Haseley of Lake Geneva. Preceding him in death are two sons, Dean and Gregory, sisters Adene Haseley, Carol (the late Lawrence) Entress and Phyllis (the late Gerald) Klopp, brother Leonard “Skip” (Betty Jane) Haseley, as well as many friends and other family members. Warren was born in Lake Elmo, Minnesota, on February 17, 1922. His family moved to the Jackson/Cedarburg area before settling in Port Washington, where he graduated from high school. Warren was active in many sports and the high school band. After graduation, he entered the Army Air Corps and was stationed in San Angelo, Texas. After discharge, he attended LaCrosse State Teachers College where he was first chair trumpet in the college band. Warren graduated with a bachelor’s degree in physical education and recreation, and later went on to receive a master’s degree in Administration from Roosevelt University in Chicago. He and Bernice were married on June 17, 1950, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Lake Church, in the Town of Belgium. Warren taught at Southern Colony in Union Grove before he found a teaching position in Waukegan, IL, at Thomas Jefferson Junior High School. He taught physical education, health, and coached basketball for fourteen years before being offered an assistant principal’s position at Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Port Washington in 1968. Mr. Haseley retired from education in 1986, after spending 33 years educating and nurturing teachers and students. In retirement, Warren was active in many senior programs in Port Washington: he served on the Senior Citizen Counsel, played senior softball and started the senior horseshoes’ program in town. His love of music was very important to him; Warren was a charter member of the Ozaukee County Barbershop Chorus, and played his trumpet in the New Horizons Senior band. He and Bernice delivered Meals-on-Wheels for thirty years and he also volunteered for fish fries at his parish, St. John XXIII in Port. Warren was also a longtime member of the Van Ells-Schanen American Legion Post 82 in Port Washington.
Warren and Bernice were fortunate to travel to Hawaii and Austria, as well as many cities in the United States. He always expressed disbelief that he actually walked the paths in the Alps. He was amazed at all life had given him.
Warren’s wife and family would like to express their deep gratitude to all the friends and family for the support and love over the last year. Special appreciation and admiration is given to the caregivers and nurses of Harbor Club/Cove; their kindness and compassion will never be forgotten. The family also thanks Heartland Hospice, especially Ann, who took such good care of the entire family, especially Dad, and helped them understand and accept this difficult journey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, October 25th at St. John XXIII-St. Peter of Alcantara Church, 1800 N. Wisconsin St., Port Washington; Father Patrick Wendt will preside. Mass will be followed by Military Honors before processing to St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Washington, for interment. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Thursday from 11:30AM until services at 1PM, with a Legion walk-through scheduled to begin at 12:30PM. Leonard Haseley or "Skip" as he was called by all who knew him passed away Tuesday, September 10th. He was born in Jackson, Wisconsin to Eugene and Agnes Haseley in1927. He has loved living in Paw Paw for almost 20 years with his wife of almost 65 years, Betty Jane, and close to his daughter Peggy and her family in Portage. Skip spent most of his early years ,the middle child in a family of 7 children, growing up in Port Washington, Wisconsin. Right out of High School he enlisted in the Navy and was sent to the Pacific theater. After his discharge he came back to Port Washington and married Betty Jane Kirsch whom he had dated in high school. They soon gave birth to a son, David. But, life took a twist and Skip was called back into to the Navy and sent back to the Pacific for the Korean War. Guess they figured he knew the Pacific. After the Korean War he was again discharged and this time for good. He came back to his young family in Port Washington and got a job at the local power company. Skip was not satisfied with being confined inside all day, not to mention working the all too often night shift. During this time Skip and Betty Jane gave birth to daughter Peggy. With his friendly personality and love of people, sales is where he felt he needed to be. One of his brothers was working at a local car dealership and said they were looking for salesmen. Skip jumped at the opportunity. Skip loved spending time with his family so after a few years of working weekends and evenings one of his other brothers, who was working for a lawn and garden manufacturer, encouraged him to pursue a sales position selling lawn and garden equipment. He would spend the next 30 years working in this industry as a successful, much liked and respected sales manager. When he retired from MTD in Cleveland at age 67 he and Betty Jane decided to move back to the central Michigan area where they had once lived and where Peggy & Gary and grandson Shain and his wife Sarah currently reside. Skip loved to sing and for many years sang with the Barber Shoppers. Everyone in the family who received a call from Skip on their birthday also got an added bonus of hearing "Happy Birthday" sung to them. He always had a melody in his voice and a song in his heart. Skip loved seeing his family, all of them, and when living in Port Washington where most lived, he and the family would spend the day visiting them all whether they wanted to or not. Skip is survived by his wife Betty Jane, son David and wife Jenny of Easton, MD, daughter Peggy and husband Gary of Portage, MI, grandson Alexander Haseley and wife Courtney, great granddaughter Avery of Paris, France, grandson Shain and wife Sarah of Scotts, MI. In addition, he is survived by brothers Warren, Donald and Eugene and sisters Phyllis, Carol and Nancy all from Wisconsin. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 13th from 2 to 3pm, at Life Story Funeral Home, 409 S. Main, Vicksburg (269-649-1697). Mr. Donald Haseley, of Port Washington, passed away with his family by his side at Aurora Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa. He was 93 years old. Don was born in Kirchhayn, WI, on July 4, 1928, son of Eugene Haseley and Agnes Richert Haseley. The family moved to the Port Washington area, where Donald graduated from Port Washington High School with the class of 1946. After high school, Don served his country in the United States Army, playing trumpet in the 421st Army Band. He was honorably discharged in 1951. On October 9, 1954, Don married Lillian Wagner at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Barton. The couple settled in Port Washington to start their family. The couple were married for 64 years before Lillian preceded him in death in 2019. Don was the proud owner and operator of the Gamble's Store in Port Washington for many years. Later, he worked for Schmidt Bros. Dodge until his retirement. He was very active in his community, where he was a former member of the Port Washington Chamber of Commerce, the Port Washington Police and Fire Commission, and the Port Washington Kiwanis Club. Don was an active member of the American Legion Van Ells-Schanen Post 82 where he was a post commander (twice) and also a member of Post 5373 Veterans of Foreign Wars. For over 60 years, Don proudly served as Bugler for local honor guards, playing Taps whenever called upon for fellow veteran's funerals. Don is a current member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Grafton and a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Port Washington. Don is survived by his six children: Jeanne (Joe) Kunzelmann of Mt. Juliet, TN, Donald "Jim" (Maribeth) Haseley of Saugatuck, MI, Lori (Mike) Lanser of Sheboygan, Richard (Mary Kay) Haseley of Windemere, FL, Diane (Mike) Trowbridge of Hartford, and Robin (Jay) Hommel of Greer, SC. He is further survived by eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, his siblings Nancy (Paul) Swatek and Eugene Haseley both of Lake Geneva, a sister-in-law Bernice Haseley of Port Washington, other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lillian, three sisters and two brothers. Private family funeral services will be held. Carol A. Entress, (Nee Haseley) of Grafton, died peacefully surrounded by her family at Angels Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc, on October 13, 2015 at the age of 83. Carol was born in Port Washington, WI on August 9, 1932 the daughter of the late Eugene and Agnes (Nee Richter) Haseley. On June 12, 1954 Carol was united in marriage to the late Lawrence “Red” Entress at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Port Washington. Carol was a founding member of the Cedarburg Garden Club, and was active in Bible studies and gourmet club. She loved her music appreciation classes and was happiest with family around her. She loved gardening and was always generous with sharing plants from her spectacular gardens. She found her greatest joy with family - siblings, children and grandchildren. Her blue eyes, infectious smile and positive personality will be missed by many. Jack Alexander Haseley
Waco - Jack Haseley lived a fulfilling 91 years. He was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Mildred Haseley. He is survived by Maybeth, his loving wife of 33 years, as well as his children: Marie, Melissa (Guy), Amy (Jack) and Sara (Emily). He leaves behind five grandchildren; Christopher (Crystal), Megan (John), Emily, Zachary (Nicole) and Evan. Six Great-grandchildren: Shelby, Brandon, Nathan, Elijah, Colby and Colton. Jack graduated from Grant Union High School in 1948. He worked for California Department of Forestry as a lookout in Colfax. He served in the Army during the Korean War and when he came home he worked as a ranger for the State of CA Beaches & Parks in Tahoe City. He then worked for CDF and was a patrolman at Baker's Ford, the Fire Patrol Prevention Specialist for El Dorado County, instructor at the Fire Academy in Sutter Creek, and eventually retired as Arson Investigator. Jack is well-known for his initiation of the Pioneer Volunteer Fire Department which consisted of merging several small departments and creating the largest of all volunteer fire departments in CA., where he also served as Commissioner. Ge was a board member of the Pioneer School District 1962-1973. He loved serving his community and made many lifelong friends. Jack was a member of the Smith Valley Community United Methodist Church in Smith, NV. A Celebration of Life will be held at this location at a later date. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Harold C. Kroening, 82, of Sanborn, NY died Saturday, February 25th, 2006 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, after a brief illness.
He was born on June 8, 1923, in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, the son of the late Edwin H and Edna [ Haseley ] Kroening, and step son of the late Helen [ Haseley ] Kroening and was a graduate of LaSalle High School, in 1942.
Harold entered the United States Army on February 13, 1943 and was a squad leader serving in Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was awarded the Bronze Star, the Combat Infantry Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, and the Good Conduct Medal, prior to his separation from service with the rank of S Sgt., on November 20, 1945. Following his military career he was associated the family run Kroening's Garage in Sanborn for over 45 years, before retiring in 1985.
He was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church, Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, where he has served as an Elder and Head Usher for many years.
He was an honorary member of the Sanborn Fire Company, and had been a member of the Sanborn Fire Co. Band. He served as a member of the Sanborn Library Board of Trustee's for several years, and was a member of the Sanborn American Legion and the Sanborn Area Historical Society.
Surviving is his wife of 60 years, the former Janet E. Pack, a daughter, Amy [ Ross ] Folmsbee, of Sanborn; a daughter-in-law Kathy Kroening-Armstrong, of Rochester, Monroe County, NY; a sister, Gladys [ Benjamin ] Haseley, of Sanborn; a brother, Gilbert [ Norma ] Kroening, of Ransomville, NY; 4 grandchildren, Jonathan Folmsbee; David, Melissa and Laura Kroening, an aunt, Audrey Haseley, of Calabash, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughter Sharon Kroening and his son, Bruce Kroening.
The family will be present at Tuesday 3 - 7 PM at RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, SANBORN, 5893 Hoover Road.

Of Sanborn, NY, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital.  She was born in Niagara Falls, NY on June 19, 1925, a daughter of the late Edwin H. (Helen) and Edna [Haseley] Kroening.
Mrs. Haseley was a graduate of LaSalle High School.
She was the bookkeeper with Pils Service in Lockport for many years.
Mrs. Haseley was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church Walmore, where she taught Sunday School, was active in the Women's Group and quilted for Lutheran World Relief.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and was an avid bowler.
Mrs. Haseley was the wife of the late Benjamin W. Haseley, who passed away in 2007.
She is survived by her children,  Jacqueline (Clifford) Blank, Donna (late Frank) Licursi, Terry ( Debra) Haseley, Patrice (John)  Elnicki, a sister in law Norma Kroening,  also  seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren,  many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Harold (Janet), Gilbert, Sharon and Richard Kroening.
Everyone is invited to attend her funeral services which will be held on Monday at 1:00 PM  at St. Peter's  Lutheran Church, 6168 Walmore Road, Sanborn, NY,  with the Rev.  Kurt Jensen  officiating.

Of Sanborn, NY, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2016, in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. She was born in Sanborn, on November 7, 1929, the daughter of the late Edward P. and Florence [Pfohl] Walck.


Mrs. Wendt attended local schools and was employed with the National Grinding Wheel, the Sanborn Greenhouse and as a cleaner at St. Peter's Lutheran School for many years. She was actively involved with the Sanborn Fire Company Band and with the Women of Church quilting group. Mrs. Wendt loved spending time with her family and enjoyed playing Bingo and shopping.


She was the wife of the late Bertrum Wendt, who died in January of 2000.
Mrs. Wendt is survived by her daughters Darlene C. (James) Giannini, Sally A. (Michael) Kelley and Laurie L. (Peter Eodice) Wendt Draper, four grandchildren James Giannini, II, Rochelle (Brian) Wylke, Jessica and Jenna Kelley, six great grandchildren Elyssa, Brianna, Landen, Kaden, Kendra and Jaxon, and was the sister of Gilbert I. (Carol) Walck, Jerauld F. (Kay) Walck and Janice (Martin) Wick, she also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Arnold E. Walck.


Her family will be present on Friday from 3-8 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 6167 Walmore Road, Sanborn, NY, with the Rev. Kenneth Spitler and the Rev. Jonathan Haseley officiating.

Walck, 61, a Lewiston native, served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1959. He was a past member of the Sanborn Fire Company Band and a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore, where he was a trustee. He also attended The Chapel in Amherst.

GILBERT IRVIN WALCK, age 82, of Sanborn, NY, passed into eternal rest with his Lord and Savior in his home on May 4, 2020, while being cared for by his loving family and Niagara Hospice. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on February 23, 1938, to the late Edward and Florence Walck.
On October 19, 1963, Gilbert married Carol Joyce (Pfohl) Walck, his wife of 56 years. Gilbert was a life long, self employed dairy farmer in Niagara County which included a herd of dairy cows that spanned 51 years. He served on various agricultural committees which included the Farm Service Agency for USDA, Niagara County Farm Bureau and as a Director for Wendt's Dairy. He was an exempt member of the Sanborn Volunteer Fire Company and had served in the United States National Guard.
Throughout his life Gilbert enjoyed bowling in the Sanborn Businessmen League, watching his favorite baseball team the New York Yankees, deer hunting at the cabin, and riding in his golf cart to check up on what the boys were doing, on the farm. One of his greatest passions was his yearly trip to the Indianapolis 500 race with his dear friends.
Coffee with friends at Marsh's store and Sunday lunch at the Jetport after church were part of his weekly routine he so enjoyed. Gilbert had a very outgoing personality and no matter the event, always knew someone and took time for a conversation. He was a life long active member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church where he faithfully attended weekly worship services.
Gilbert is survived by his loving wife, Carol Walck, and three children, Randy J. (Amy) Walck, Darla J. (Randall) Kroening-Retzlaff and Gary K. (Jill Haseley) Walck; six grandchildren, Tyler (Laura) Kroening, Matthew Kroening, Brock Kroening, Sara, Katie and Luke Walck; a brother Gerald (Kathleen) Walck of Sanborn, NY, a sister Janice (late Martin) Wick of Schwenksville, PA; and many nieces and nephews. Janice Florence (Walck) Wick, 80, of Schwenksville, PA, formerly of Medford, NJ and Sanborn, NY,  passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021.  She was born in Sanborn, NY on August 26th, 1940 to the late Edward Philipp Benjamin and Florence Sophia (Pfohl) Walck.  
On October 1, 1971, Janice married her love, Martin Anthony “Marty” Wick Jr.   She was a committed, caring wife and devoted mother who worked tirelessly to provide a happy life for her family. 
She volunteered at her church and worked for many years outside the home at Cigna Insurance.  
Janice was characterized as deeply caring,  naturally putting other people’s feelings first, and always having a hot meal ready.
Despite moving away from family shortly after marriage, she remained true to her strong, German, Lutheran heritage of Sanborn, NY and worked to ensure  that her children were raised “right”.  In fact, “Did you go to church this week?” was the first phrase heard on calls home throughout the years.
Janice was a life-long, devout Lutheran and an active member at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Marlton, NJ, prior to recently moving closer to her daughter in Pennsylvania, where she continued to faithfully worship.  
Janice is survived by her two children, Martin Anthony (Page) Wick III of Dallas, TX and Rachel Elizabeth (Joshua) Myers of Lansdale, PA; five grandchildren, Amelia Simrall, Josephine Pfhol, and Mary Martin Wick and Joshua John  and Justine Elizabeth Myers; twin brother, Jerauld (Kathleen) Walck of Sanborn, NY; sister in-law Carol Walck of Sanborn, NY; Christine G. Wick of Euclid, OH; and brother-in-law, Fulton J. Wick of Perrysburg, OH, as well as 15 nieces and nephews.  
Janice was predeceased by her husband, Martin Anthony “Marty” Wick: brothers, Arnold Walck and Gilbert Walck; sister, Norine (Walck) Wendt; brother-in-law, Bertrum Wendt.
Due to the current circumstances, a private service was held at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore, with the Rev. Thomas Thorstad officiating.

He served in the Air Force Reserve for three years. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Karen A. Pfohl, 51, of Schoellkopf Health Center, Niagara Falls, who worked as a clerk in the X-ray department of Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, for several years, died Wednesday (Dec. 8, 1999) in the health center after a 30-year bout with multiple sclerosis.
Miss Pfohl was born in Niagara Falls and was a graduate of Niagara-Wheatfield High School.
She worked as a secretary for several years at Errick Road School, Wheatfield, and had worked for several years at Mount St. Mary's Hospital until the time of her illness.
Miss Pfohl was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school at one time.
She had lived in the health center for the past five years and prior to that resided at home with her parents.
Survivors include her parents, Hubert and Norma, and two sisters, Beverly Pendergast and Janet Tober.

Her hobbies included quilting with the St. Peter's women's quilting group, where she coordinated and assisted in shipping many quilts all over the world, shopping, sewing, cooking for her family, mowing the lawn and keeping busy. Ann's life was centered around her family, her faith in God, and everyone was always welcomed to spend time with her and her family. She was the beloved mother of Lynn (William) Lekki and Lee (Lynette) Kroening; cherished "mom" of Scott (Joelle) Pfohl; treasured and admired grandmother of Jarred and Betty Hebeler, Brianne Hebeler, Ian, Colin and Ella Kroening, Ryan and Nick Pfohl. Ann was also predeceased by two brothers, Loren Pfohl in 1960 and Eugene Pfohl in 2014. SANBORN — Eugene A. Pfohl, age 64, of Sanborn, was called peacefully to his heavenly home on January 20, 2014, while under the care of his family and Niagara Hospice. Born in the Town of Lewiston, NY on April 10, 1949, he was the son of the late Erwin and Elenora (DeVantier) Pfohl. Eugene was a 1967 graduate of Niagara Wheatfield High School. He was employed for 33 years at the former family business, Sanborn Milling Company, and 13 years as a truck driver with AT&A Trucking. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and attending classic car shows. Eugene spent countless hours working on his prized possession, a 1967 Dodge RT, of which he won several trophies and plaques. He was an active member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church-LCMC in Walmore, spent many years and really enjoyed coaching the St. Peter's boys and girls high school basketball team, and greatly enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his son, Scott (Joelle) Pfohl; grandchildren, Ryan and Nicholas Pfohl; a sister, Ann Kroening; niece, Lynn Hebeler; nephew, Lee (Lynette) Kroening; and great-nieces and nephews, Jarred and Brianne Hebeler, Ian, Colin and Ella Kroening. Also predeceased by a brother, Loren Pfohl.

LOCKPORT — Mark H. Mittelstaedt, of Lockport, passed away unexpectedly on his 61st birthday, January 15, 2013. Mr. Mittelstaedt was born in North Tonawanda on January 15, 1952, son of the late Harold and Virginia (nee Case) Mittelstaedt.

Mark graduated from Trott Vocational School in Niagara Falls and had a two-year degree in diesel mechanics from Alfred Tech. Mr. Mittelstaedt retired from Dole Ford after 28 years as an auto technician. He was a life-member of the Adams Fire Company and a lifelong member of St. Martin Lutheran Church. Mark was an avid hunter and enjoyed bowling.

NORTH TONAWANDA —
Clarence "Herk" E. Hurtubise, age 83, of North Tonawanda, passed away on November 1, 2012 at Buffalo General Hospital. Mr. Hurtubise was born on July 16, 1929 in North Tonawanda, son of the late Clarence and Marguerite (nee Sommer) Hurtubise.
Mr. Hurtubise was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a graduate of RIT and the University of Houston. Mr. Hurtubise was owner of Your Type Printing in North Tonawanda. He was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Parish in North Tonawanda, where he served as a Eucharist minister. Clarence served as president and on the board of directors for various organizations through out the area.
Mr. Hurtubise is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Margaret "Midge" Mary (nee Spencer) Hurtubise; devoted father of Kenneth (Deborah), Stephen (Sharon), Michael Hurtubise, Betsy Jackson, Patricia Geist and Nancy (Wyatt) Yee; brother of Donald (Barbara), Douglas (Sandy), Joseph (Barbara) and Daniel (Shirley) Hurtubise; proud grandfather of 15.

He was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and received a Master's Degree from U.B. Mr. Heimgartner took pride in designing and building his own house, he enjoyed landscaping and building model airplanes. He had coached both softball and baseball and was very involved in his children's activities. Beloved husband of Carole (nee Sisson) Heimgartner for over 49 years.
