Prominent Sanborn Woman Laid to Rest Wednesday.
SANBORN, Feb. 7. - The funeral of Mrs. Albertina (sic) Walck, age 82, widow of the late Frederick Walck, was held on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 p. m. from St. Peter's church at Walmore. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Edward Retzlaff, and three sons, Fred, John and Benjamin Walck, all of Walmore. Mrs. Walck was born in Germany and came to this country with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Zimmerman. when only ten weeks old, and has resided in this vicinity all her life. The bearers were William Devanticr, Jr., August Walck, Felix Walck, Elmer Kroening, William Walck Jr., and Alton Wendt. Rev. Edward Graubau (sic) officiated and burial was at Walmore cemetery.

Zimmerman Jagow, 76 years old,
a lifelong and highly respected resident
of this village, died last night
at the family home in Niagara street
after an illness of ten days.
Mrs. Jagow was born in Bergholtz
on August 2, 1860, a daughter of the
late Augusta and William Zimmerman,
and had lived her entire lire here.
She was a lifelong member of St.
Jacobi Lutheran church and a charter
member of the Ladies' Aid society of
that church. Until advanced age prevented
she had been an active worker
in the church and Aid society.
Mrs. Jagow is survived by three
sons, Benjamin, Philip and Theodore,
one granddaughter and one sister,
Mrs. Charles Jagow, all of this village.
Funeral services will be held from
the family home in Niagara street on
Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock,
daylight saving time, and at 2:30 from
St. Jacobi church. The Rev. Otto
Brass will officiate and interment will

Niagara Falls, Mar. 25-An old fashioned Christian was Amos A. Haseley, 59, 623 90th Street. Today was Holy Thursday and there was to be a morning service at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church at Walden (sic) at 9.30 o'clock.
At 8 Haseley peered from a window at his home into the turbulence of gale-gripped snow. It did not daunt him. Though it did convince him that he should start forth at once. He knew well the entire five-mile course, for he had covered it Sunday after Sunday, but in that mad world of flakes and wind, traveling would be difficult. With firm stride he set out. In Tuscarora Road near Lockport Road at 9 o'clock, Howard Bodie, Sanborn, stopped his truck sharply, at the side of road, partly covered with snow, was the body of a man. Coroner R. Emes was called. Death from over-exertion, he decided, In the pocket of the man's overcoat he found a Bible. The leather cover, betraying fond use by many gray-lined cracks, bore in guilt (sic) letters the name: Amos A. Haseley. And as Dr. Emes read, scarcely a mile away were tolling the bells that called all worshippers before Pastor Edward Grabau. On Sunday there will he a service at 2 o'clock at the Haseley home and at 2.30 at St. Peter's Church. Then St. Peter's Cemetery will receive the body. A bachelor, the man left a sister, Mrs. Henry Haseley, who had married a third cousin, and three brothers, William, Rudolph and Theodore, all of Lockport.

Heart Attack, Brought on By Exertion of Fighting Storm, Kills Amos Haseley; Gale Sweeps Wide Area.
Vagaries of March weather produced one for the book in Niagara Falls last night-snow, hall, lightning and thunder, borne on the wings of a 50 mile "northeaster" that sent the mercury down near a new low for the month. One death here was indirectly attributed to the storm, which brought wide inconvenience to residents.
Man Dies In Storm
On his way to attend Holy Thursday services in a Walmore church this morning, Amos A. Haseley, 58 year old retired Carborundum company employe (sic), of 623 Ninetieth street, died from a heart attack brought on by over-exertion in fighting his way through wind and snow. His body, partly covered by snow, was found in the Tuscarora road near the Lockport road by Howard Bodie, a truck driver for the Calkins Lumber company of Sanborn.
Coroner Harry R. Emes, called to the scene by Bodie, pronounced death due to a heart attack brought on by over-exertion. Mr. Haseley had left his home about 8 o'clock and his body was found an hour later.
Surviving him are his sister, Mrs. Henry Haseley, with whom he resided, and three brothers, William, Rudolph and Teeter (sic) Haseley, all of Lockport.

NORTH TONAWANDA - John A. Walck, of the Lockport road, town of Wheatfield. died suddenly at his home yesterday. Mr. Walck was 67 years old and had resided on the farm where he died for the last 62 years. He was well known and a member of St Peters Lutheran Church at Walmore. SANBORN - Benjamin A. Walck, 88, of 2595 Lockport Road, died Thursday (Jan. 23, 1975) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness.
A life-long resident of Sanborn, he had operated a farm on Lockport Road for most of his life. He was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church and had served as an elder at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Laura (Wendt) Walck of this town; two daughters, Mrs. Hubert (Norma) Pfohl and Mrs. Herbert (Emily) DuBois, both of this town; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Allen and Benjamin C. Walck.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore Road, with the Rev. Harold L Baum officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.

Former Carbo Foreman Dies
John DeVantier. 78, of 1627 Weston Ave.. a retired foreman of the Carborundum County, died today (Aug. 30, 1958) at 'Memorial Hospital after a six-month illness.
Born in Bergholtz, Mr. DeVantier resided in this city for 60 years. He was well-known in the Pine Ave. area, where for many years he did general handyman work at several homes. He was employed at the Carborundum for 26 years before retiring in 1946. Mr. DeVantier was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where he was a past deacon and elder.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Agnes DeVantier; a son, Max F. Haseley, of Lewiston; one brother, William DeVantier, Bergholtz; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Camann, Bergholtz, and Mrs. William Siegman, St. Johnsburgh (sic), and three grandchildren.

SANBORN - William G. DeVantier, 82, of 2043 Cayuga Drive, died Monday evening (July 1, 1968) at his home, of an apparent heart attack, after a long illness. A native of Wheatfield, Mr. DeVantier was a resident of Niagara Falls for 54 years. He was a wheel molder at the Carborundum Co. for more than 25 years and was a member of the plant's 25 Year Club. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Bergholtz and an elder of that parish for 15 years. He is survived by three sons, Gerhard, Martin and Norman DeVantier, and two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Rose) Camann and Mrs. William (Martha) Siegmann, all of Niagara Falls. Young Woman of Wheatfield Dead
NORTH TONAWANDA, Aug. 5.-Mrs. Ella M. Camann, 43, died today at her home in the Niagara Falls boulevard, town of Wheatfield, after a long illness. She was a life long resident of Wheatfield. She is survived by her husband, Harry F. Martha A. Siegmann, 103, formerly of Errick Road, died Thursday (April 30, 1998) in Northgate Manor Nursing Home, where she had lived since 1985.
A lifelong resident of Wheatfield, the former Martha A. Jagow was the oldest living member of St. John Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Siegmann also was a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and enjoyed baking and gardening. Her husband, William C., died in 1964.
Survivors include four sons, Harold, Melvin, Donald.....a daughter, Clarice Poerschke; 25 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Sunday in St. John Lutheran Church, Niagara Falls Boulevard and Ward Road. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Rudolph C. Jagow Rites Held at Bergholtz
BERGHOLTZ, N. Y. Oct. 11 - Funeral services for Rudolph C. Jagow, who died Friday at his home in Niagara road, after a lingering illness, were largely attended. Almost 300 friends relatives and neighbors from all over Niagara county, were at the Holy Ghost Lutheran church services which were held from the home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock and at 2:30 at the Holy Ghost church. The bearers were Edwin J. Camann, Edward H. Eggert, Walter Mielke, Paul Mueller, Ervin ONeil and Arthur Stoelting. Honorary bearers were Christ Burow, George Camann, Valerius Ferchen, Jr., Dell Harvey. Arthur Heuer, William Loeschke, Henry Smith, Alvin Schimschack and Ralph Wittkopp. Mr. Jagow was born on May 12, 1901, at the corner of Hunt and Cayuga streets, this village. He was baptlzed on May 19 at the Holy Ghost church. When three years old, he moved with his parents to the corner of Walmore road and Old Falls boulevard. He attended the Holy Ghost parochial school. He was confirmed on March 28, 1915, In the Holy Ghost Evangelical Lutheran church, of which he was an active member, all his life. Twenty years ago, on April 26, he was married to Miss Alma Stoelting, of Pekin. N.Y., and had been the proprietor of a general store in Niagara road ever since. He was also an active member of the Bergholtz Volunteer Fire company. Mr. Jagow is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alma Stoelting Jagow; one daughter, Dolores Jagow, of this village; his mother, Mrs Hulda Jagow, this village; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Camann, of this village, and Mrs. William Siegman of St. Johnsburg, N. Y., and three step brothers, John DeVantier, of Niagara Falls, N. Y. and Albert and William, of the Town of Wheatfield. The Rev. John Kuchenbecker officiated at the services. The school children in charge of H. W. Krage. sang. "Asleep In Jesus," at the church service. Interment was in Holy Ghost cemetery.

Long Illness Fatal To Benjamin Jagow
Benjamin W. J. Jagow, 59, a lifelong resident of the town of Wheatfield, residing on the Niagara road in Bergholz, died yesterday at the Memorial hospital Niagara Falls, after an illness of several weeks.
One of the best known residents of the village, Jagow was a charter member and one of the organizers of the Bergholz Fire company. He was also member of the Zion Lutheran church on Cayuga Drive, Niagara Falls.
Surviving are his wife, Esther Gombert Jagow; a daughter, Helen Jagow, at home, and two brothers, Philip and Theodore Jagow of Niagara Falls.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 P.M. from the residence and half an hour later from the Zion church. The Rev. George F. Heuer will conduct the rites and interment will be in Memorial Park, Niagara Falls.

Frank. C. Haseley, retired assistant station superintendent of Suspension Bridge Station of the Niagara Falls Post Office, died today (Jan. 16, 1963) at DeGraff Memorial Hospital in North Tonawanda. He was 63. Mr. Haseley had made his home at 1383 Moll St., North Tonawanda, since shortly before his retirement in October 1961. A Niagara Falls native, he formerly resided at 1506 Cleveland Ave. here. Mr. Haseley joined the post office as a substitute clerk in November 1923. He received subsequent promotions and in 1955 was named a foreman. He was appointed assistant superintendent of the Falls Station in 1957 and became assistant superintendent of the Bridge Station in 1958. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Nella Haseley, a daughter, Mrs. Louis Scutmore, North Tonawanda ; three brothers, Elmer, Herman and Carl Haseley , and four grandchildren. BUFFALO - A former Niagara Falls resident, Henry E. Haseley, 56, of 35 Commonwealth Ave., died today (May 12, 1976) in Veterans Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Bergholtz, he lived in the LaSalle section of Niagara Falls for 35 years before moving to Buffalo. Mr. Haseley served in the U. S. Army during World War II and was awarded a purple heart during the invasion of Italy. He was active in local baseball circles. He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Walter (Bessie) Ziehm of the Town of Wheatfield, and Lena and Gertrude Haseley, both of Buffalo. Funeral services will be held Friday at a time to be announced from the Lane Funeral Home with the Rev. Daniel Otto officiating. Interment will be in Elmlawn Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda. Mrs. Kroening died Saturday (Sept. 4, 1965) in Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Surviving, besides her husband Elmer; are five sons, Martin and Harry Kroening of Sanborn, John and Herbert Kroening of Lockport, and Raymond Kroening of Ransomville; two daughters, Mrs. Alfred Haseley of Sanborn and Mrs. Dennis DeVantier of Bergholtz. SANBORN - Edward P. Walck, 71, of 2550 Saunders Settlement Road, died Saturday (April 12, 1975) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital after a short illness. A native and lifelong resident of Sanborn, Mr. Walck retired in 1969 from the National Grinding Wheel Co. of North Tonawanda where he had worked as a molder for 30 years. He had served as trustee and elder of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore, where he had been a lifelong member. He was a member of Sanborn Fire. Co. He is survived by his wife, Florence; three sons, Arnold E. Walck of Pendleton, and Gilbert I. and Jerauld F. Viola E. Pfohl, 90, of Fairchild Manor Nursing Home, formerly of Saunders Settlement Road, Sanborn, who was a homemaker for most of her life, died Tuesday (May 18, 1999) in the nursing home after a long illness.
The former Viola Walck was born in Sanborn and had lived in Fairchild Manor since 1991.
Mrs. Pfohl, who enjoyed traveling, was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Niagara Falls, and was active with the church's Altar Guild.
Her husband, Martin, died in 1992.
Survivors include two sons, Melvin of Niagara Falls and Delbert of Sanborn; two daughters, Marilyn Cornelius of Wellsville and Lorraine Steingasser of Sanborn; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

I. E. Walck Stricken At Church Meeting
SANBORN-Irwin E. Walck, 50, of 2466 Saunders Settlement Road, this community, died Tuesday, (Sept. 27, 1966) while attending a meeting at St. Peter's Lutheran Church at Walmore.
The Tri-Community Ambulance removed Mr. Walck to Mount St. Mary's Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Mr. Walck, a well-known farmer in this area, was born March 20, 1916, in Sanborn, a son of Frederick and Helene Mueller Walck and had operated the farm at the Saunders Settlement address. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, a member of the church council and an exempt member of the Sanborn Volunteer Fire Co. and a member of the Niagara County Extension Service and Farm Bureau. Survivors include his widow, the former Ruth Retzlaff; a son, Glenn Walck; two daughters, Nancy and Fay Walck, all at home; a brother. Edward Walck of Sanborn; two sisters, Mrs. William Walck and Mrs. Martin Pfohl, all of Sanborn. Another sister, Mrs. Elise (sic) Kroening, died in 1965. Norma A. Pfohl, age 99, of Sanborn, NY, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2014, in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence. She was born in the Town of Wheatfield, on April 25, 1915, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Laura [Wendt] Walck.

Mrs. Pfohl was a life long resident of the Sanborn area. She helped her husband Hubert run the family farm for many years. She was a lifetime member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church Walmore and loved spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Pfohl and her husband lovingly took care of their invalid daughter the late Karen Pfohl, who died in 1999.

She was the wife of the late Hubert F. Pfohl, who died in September of 2003. Mrs. Pfohl is survived by two daughters Beverly (Charles) Pendergast and Janet (David) Tober both of Sanborn, five grandchildren Mark (Nancy) Miller, Kristen (Johnny) Seawell, Rachel (Daryl) Haseley, Beth (Steven) Guidetti and Michael (Stephanie) Tober, ten great grandchildren Lauren, Ryan and Addison Miller, Brett and Jeremiah Seawell, Lauren and Riley Haseley, Emily Guidetti and Luke and Jane Tober. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Benjamin Walck, Emily DuBois and Allen Walck.

He was a native of the Town of Wheatfield and served during World War II with the U.S. Army.
Mr. Walck had worked for the New York State Highway Department for 15 years at the time of his death and was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church Walmore, Wheatfield American Legion Post 145 Amvets Post 26 of North Tonawanda, Civil Service Employees Association, and the American Federation of State, County, and municipal employees.
He is survived by his widow Lorena; four daughters Louise, Barbara, and Linda Walck of Sanborn, and Mrs. David (Marie) Shannon of Key, West, Fla.; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Walck, and two sisters, Mrs. Hubert (Norma) Pfohl and Mrs. Herbert (Emily) DuBois all of Sanborn; and one grandson, three nieces and two nephews.

Elenora H. Pfohl (DeVantier), age 93, of Wheatfield, was called peacefully to her heavenly home to be with our Lord, on Thursday, April 29, 2010, in the comfort of her home, with her loving family at her side. Born in the Town of Wheatfield, NY, on July 30, 1916 to the late Albert and Ella (Milleville) DeVantier. Elenora was baptized, confirmed and later united in marriage to Erwin G. Pfohl on October 12, 1940, in St. James Ev. Lutheran Church, Bergholz. Erwin predeceased her on December 15, 1993. Elenora and Erwin became members of St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church, Walmore, in 1940. She was very active in the church, holding various positions over the years, and with the church's Women of the Church and the Women's Quilting Group, sending hundreds of quilts to those in need in other countries. Her hobbies included sewing, playing cards, cooking and baking. Elenora's life was centered on her family and her greatest joy in life came in spending time with them. Lovingly known to many as "Gramma Peeps", she spent countless hours babysitting her great-grandchildren and taught them German prayers. She was admired by her family for her strong faith and devotion to God and her family.
Elenora was the beloved mother of Ann Kroening and Eugene (Candy) Pfohl; admired grandmother of Lynn Hebeler, Lee and Lynette Kroening, and Scott and Joelle Pfohl; cherished great-grandmother of Jarred and Brianne Hebeler, Ian, Colin and Ella Kroening, Ryan and Nicholas Pfohl. She was also predeceased by a son, Loren Pfohl in 1960; son-in- law, Albert (Jr.) Kroening in 2000; and sister, Helma Haseley in 1991.

Born in Wheatfield, she was the daughter of Albert and Ella Milleville DeVantier.
Mrs. Haseley and her husband Richard would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct 25,
A lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church, she was a Sunday school teachers and member of the church Altar Committee and Women of the Church.
Mrs. Haseley worked for eight years at Hens & Kelly's store at the Summit Park mall.
Besides her husband, surviving are three daughters, including Eileen of Sanborn, a son; a sister, Elenora Pfohl of Sanborn and six grandsons.

WHEATFIELD - Gerhard "Gerry" W. DeVantier, 75, of Cayuga Drive Extension, died Wednesday (March 21, 1990) at his home.
The Wheatfield native worked at the Carborundum Co. Bonded Division in Niagara Falls 41 years, retiring in 1979. He was a lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church and former trustee of the church, a member of the Carborundum Alumni Association, and an exempt member of the Bergholz Volunteer Fire Co.
His wife, Martha E. (Haseley) DeVantier, died Dec. 13, I986. He is survived by a son, Gary L. DeVantier of North Tonawanda; two daughters, Connie Washburn of North Tonawanda ,and Marcia A. DeVantier of Niagara Falls; a brother, Martin DeVantier of Bergholz, seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Norman DeVantier.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Friday at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz, where the Bergholz Fire Co. will have a memorial service at 7 p.m. Friday.
The Rev. David B. Menz will conduct services at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, Niagara Road, Bergholz. Burial will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Bergholz.
Contributions to the church building fund are acceptable as tribute.

DeVantier, 77, was born in Wheatfield and lived in Bergholz all his life.
He served in Europe with the U.S. Army during World War II.
DeVantier was a member of Wheatfield Post, American Legion, and
the LaSalle Sportsmen's Club and was an exempt member of Bergholz
Volunteer Fire Company.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred E.; two sons, Dale and David, both of Wheatfield; and three grandchildren.

Norman DeVantier
BERGHOLTZ - Norman A. DeVantier, 55. of 2043 Cayuga Drive Extension died Tuesday (Oct. 25, 1977) in Sister's Hospital, Buffalo, after an apparent heart attack. A lifelong resident of the Town of Wheatfield, he served with the U.S. Air Force during World War II, and had been employed by the National Grinding Wheel County, North Tonawanda, as a machinist for over 20 years. He was a member, trustee, president, and elder of St. Jame's (sic) Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was an exempt member of the Bergholtz Volunteer Fire County, a member of the Wheatfield American Legion Post 1451, the Wheatfield Republican Club, and was a Wheatfield Republican town committeeman.
Survivors include his wife. Pearl Haseley DeVantier; a son, Scott DeVantier, two daughters, Mrs. Mark (Marlene) Sivecz of Spencerport, and Miss Lauren DeVantier, at home; two brothers, Gerhard and Martin DeVantier, both of Niagara Falls, and several nieces and nephews. Burial will be in Holy Ghost Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield. Mrs. McClenathan, 78, of the Carousel Park Apartments, North Tonawanda, died Saturday (Feb. 22, 1992) in Millard Fillmore Hospital. Born in Wheatfield, the former Edna Camann was a member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church and its Altar Guild, the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and the Carousel Serenaders. She was employed by Carborundum's Bonded Abrasives Division for 20 years until 1958. Her husband, Clarence, died in 1977. Survivors include a brother, Wilmer Camann of Niagara Falls, and a sister, Jean Klettke of Bergholz.

NIAGARA FALLS — Wilmer F.C. Camann, age 95, of Niagara Falls, was called to his heavenly home on February 13, 2011 in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence. Born in the Town of Wheatfield on July 18, 1915 to the late Franklin and Rosa (Jagow) Camann. He attended local schools and was employed at the Carborundum Company-Bonded Abrasives for 40 years, retiring in 1980. Wilmer was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church in Niagara Falls. He used to enjoy hunting and years ago played in the Bergholz Band.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Evelyn H. (SaintDenny) Camann; a daughter, Gail (Seale) Williamson of Alabama; two grandchildren, Steven Williamson and Susan Bishop; and four great-granddaughters; a sister, Jean Klettke of Bergholz and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons, an infant at birth and Gerald Camann; and two sisters, Edna McClenathan and Marion Meitz.

Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road (Bergholz), in Wheatfield on Sunday from 2-3 PM, followed with a service at 3:00 PM, with the Rev. Matthew Sorenson officiating. Jean Ruth (Camann) Klettke, age 89, joined the Church Triumphant on July 7, 2019 to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Born April 27, 1930, to Franklin and Rosa (Jagow) Camann; she grew up in Bergholz (Town of Wheatfield) NY.
Jean was a lifelong member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, attended Holy Ghost School and graduated from LaSalle High School. She enjoyed English (German was spoken at home), home economics and bookkeeping. When she was 16, she began working at Kresge's Department Store in Niagara Falls.
Jean married Ivan "Corky" Klettke on July 12, 1952 in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. Following their marriage, they lived in California and Rhode Island as Corky fulfilled his naval enlistment. They returned to purchase their family home on part of Jean's family's homestead. They celebrated holidays with extended family and friends, except for July 4, when they served the community at the Bergholz Fire Company Field Days.
Jean and Corky enjoyed Sunday outings at Camp Pioneer in Angola. They took semi-annual vacations to Rhode Island, enjoyed family camping trips, winter trips to Florida and driving to Alaska as retirees in 1994.
For most of her life, Jean was a homemaker and mother. In later years, she served as secretary and bookkeeper in the family land surveying business. She volunteered as a Sunday school teacher, member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, Parent Teacher League and the Ladies' Aide Society. She held offices in the Bergholz Fire Company Ladies' Auxiliary and Historical Society of North German Settlements in Western NY, worked as elections inspector for the Niagara County Board of Elections, and was a member of the Valparaiso University Guild.
Jean is survived by her four sons, Neal (Sue), Russell, Bart (Gloria) and Matthew (Kareen); nine grandchildren, Lynette Boesken (Mark), Andy, Ted (Ariel, Erin, Cam, Joshua (engaged to Sarah Sorrentino), Kirsten, Noah and Amanda; two great-grandchildren, Stone and Pia Boesken; and three nieces, Gail Williamson (Rex), Elspeth Nevelson and Maria Nevelson. She is predeceased by her husband, Corky; and siblings, Edna McClenathan, Wilmer Camann and Marion Meitz.

Chester H. Camann, 14 years old, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Camann, Niagara Falls boulevard, Bergholz, died yesterday at the family residence after a lingering illness. Besides his parents he is survived by a brother, Norman, and a sister, Viola.
The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock standard time at the residence and half an hour later from the Holy Ghost church, Bergholz. Rev. John Kuchenbecker will conduct the services and interment will be in the Holy Ghost cemetery

BERGHOLZ - Norman R. Camann; 71, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Bergholz, died Sunday (July 30,1989) at Roswell Park Memorial Institute, Buffalo.
The Wheatfield native was the son of the late Harry and Ella Jago (sic) Camann. He founded the Norman R. Camann Plumbing and Heating Co. in Wheatfield in 1945. He retired in 1980 and moved to Sarasota.
He was a member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Wheatfield, an associate member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Florida, an exempt member of the Bergholz Fire Company, a member of the Lutheran Layman's League, the Wheatfield Business Association and the Town of Wheatfield Plumbing Board. He and his wife celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in January.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Lenhardt Camann; sons, Leonard Camann of Charlotte, N.C., and Raymond Camann of Bergholz; a sister, Viola Furry of Wheatfield; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Chester Camann.

Donald P. Siegmann, age 73 of the Town of Wheatfield, Niagara County, NY, died Sunday October 16, 2005, in Mount St. Mary's Hospital after a long illness.
He was a lifelong resident of the Town of Wheatfield, born on July 2, 1932, in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, the son of William and Martha [ Jagow ] Siegmann, where he attended local schools. Donald served in the Korean War in the United States Army from November 18, 1952 to November 17, 1954.
He was employed as a construction laborer through Local 210 and had been employed by many local building contractors, including W. W. Kimmins & Sons of Kenmore, NY. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, a 50 year member of the St. Johnsburg Volunteer Fire Company and a 50 year member of the Wheatfield American Post # 1451.
Donald enjoyed farming and gardening and volunteering at the fire hall.
His family was very important to him, especially spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving is his wife of 47 years, the former Rosemary Hefferon; three sons: Douglas [ Theresa ] Siegmann; Thomas [ Susan ] Siegmann and Rodney [ Dawn ] Siegmann, all of Wheatfield; a daughter, Brenda [ Martin ] Perry of Niagara Falls; his twin brother, Richard [ Jean ] Siegmann of Wheatfield; a brother Harold [ Vivian ] Siegmann of North Tonawanda, Niagara County, NY; a sister, Clarice [ Richard ] Poerschke of Wheatfield; sister-in-law, Mae Siegmann; a cousin Roger Siegmann; and 7 grandchildren.
He was the brother of the late Melvin Siegmann, Erma England and Mildred Witkop, and cousin of the late Howard and Lester Siegmann.

Lester K. Siegmann, 73, of Homeyer Road, a lifelong resident of Wheatfield and a veteran of World War II, died Sunday (Sept. 13, 1998) in DeGraff Skilled Nursing Facility, North Tonawanda.
Siegmann served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946 and was employed at Staffen Trucking Co. for 39 years, retiring in 1987 as a foreman.
He was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church and a member of Wheatfield Post 1451, American Legion.
He was given a gold watch in February in observance of his 50 years of service to St. Johnsburg Fire Company, where he was an exempt member.
He enjoyed bowling and watching football games.

Siegman was a life member of the Niagara County Volunteer Firemen's Association, the Niagara County Fire Police Association and a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church. He was superintendent of the church cemetery.

DOLORES A. HILL, age 84, of Cambria, NY, was called peacefully to her heavenly home on August 19, 2019 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence, Lewiston, NY. Born in the hamlet of Bergholz, Town of Wheatfield on July 5, 1935; daughter of the late Rudolph and Alma (Stoelting) Jagow. She was a Niagara Falls High School graduate, and was employed at Bell Aerospace, and later at Union Carbide, in the office. Dolores was a devoted homemaker, a lifelong active member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Bergholz, where she served as organist for many years, helped with Vacation Bible School, was a Sunday School teacher, member of the Altar Guild, and the LWML. Dolores was also a member of the German Historical Society, loved music, baking, gardening, playing cards with the card club, and the quality time spent with her family and friends.
Survivors include her loving husband, Arthur Hill. They were united in marriage on June 27, 1959; two children, Stephen Hill of Bergholz, and Laurie (Thomas) Wikander of Wheatfield; six grandchildren, Joshua Waller, Britney and Christopher Hill, and Sarah, Jessica and Madeline Wikander; and three great-grandchildren, Seth, Christian and Eden.

He retired as a pipefitter from Harrison Radiator, Lockport, NY in 1988. He and his predeceased wife, Betty Fay (Lymburner) lived primarily in central Florida in a home on Oakwood Golf Course, Lake Wales. He was an avid golfer, gardener, enjoyed investing and was a loyal fan of the Buffalo Bills and Orlando Magic.
He is survived by his five children: Linda J. Miller (Thomas) of Williamsburg, VA, Douglas R. Wendt (Debra) of Pendleton, NY, Nadine A. Stom (Glenn)of Indian Lake Estates, FL, Gregg D. Wendt (Susan) of Sanborn, NY, Rodney J. Wendt (Karen) of North Tonawanda, NY; 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
He is loved, was loved and will always be loved by family and friends as we celebrate his life. We should follow his example and enjoy life as he did, one day at a time. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Robert Elmer Haseley (1925 - 2011)
Beloved Father, Grandfather, Great-grandfather and Friend ascended to heaven at 11:35 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 17, 2011 after a long fight with cancer, surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Niagara Falls, N.Y., June 16, 1925 where he lived the first half of his life and then moved to Simi Valley. Robert served his country well in the U.S. Navy. He was assigned as a Radio Man 1st Class to a Landing Control Craft L.C.C. in the Pacific during World War II. He felt compelled to serve his country at a time needed in the Battle for Leyte Gulf. Coming out of the service, he married Willa I. Fairbanks. In 1949 they had a son, Robert Louis Haseley. Around 1969, they became loving foster parents to Jennifer Griffin (Rudnitzki), Duane Fred Griffin, Diana Griffin (Haseley). In Niagara Falls, Robert was a member of the Plumber's and Steamfitter's Union. He was the Business Manager for the Niagara Power Project. Later he became Plant Foreman on a secret project called Model City where they built a cyclitron to chemically separate fuels for aviation. Also he worked on Nike sites and bunkers as a civilian contractor for the military. During the same years he was an active member of Lewiston Fire Co. #2, a member of Masonic Lodge #132, and with his family, was a really active member in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Niagara Falls, N.Y. He moved to California in 1963, the family joined him in 1964, to find work in the building trades building homes in Simi Valley and Bakersfield. Eventually he went to work for TWA airlines at LAX in ground maintenance from which he retired. He and his family joined Our Redeemer Lutheran Church around 1964 and served many years on council and the other committees. Involved in many other volunteer services that included: Good Shepherd Lutheran School Board, Luther's Attic Treasurer and worker, member of Chapter #55 of the Disabled American Veterans of Simi Valley, and member of L.C.C. Landing Craft Control Boats of WWII organization. During the last several years, he went to the Simi Senior Center to have lunch and play bingo with his friends. One of his favorite things to do was to play bingo every Thursday night with his family where he met many new friends. Then recently he became a Charter Member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church when Our Redeemer and Our Savior Lutheran Churches merged together. After Willa passed, Robert found new love with Vickie Carey who took care of him with much love up until he passed away. She was and is a blessing to Robert and his family. Robert is survived by his beloved friend, Vickie Carey; his only son, Robert, and daughter-in-law, Diana; his grandson, Christopher; his great-grandchildren, Ethan Duarte Haseley and Christiana Perez Haseley; his foster children, Jennifer Rudnitzki and Duane Fred Griffin; his two nephews, Kent and Douglas Cairns and their family who are his sister Leah Cairns' children. His sister Leah and Robert's wife of 59 years Willa, have preceded Robert in death. The family invites friends to the viewing from 5 to 9 p.m. on Jan. 24, located at Rose Family Funeral Home, 4444 Cochran Street, Simi Valley. The funeral service will be officiated by Pastor Gary Stevenson at 10 a.m. on Tuesday morning, Jan. 25, at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 4191 Cochran St., Simi Valley. After the service the interment will be at Pierce Brothers Cemetery, 5600 Lindero Canyon Rd., Westlake. Lois N. Scudmore Lorenze of Upper Mountain Road, a registered nurse, died Friday (May 30, 1997) in DeGraff Memorial Hospital, North Tonawanda, after a six-month illness. She was 69.
The former Lois Haseley was born in Niagara Falls. She graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1946 and earned her nursing degree from Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester in 1949
After moving to North Tonawanda, Mrs. Lorenze worked for five years as a field nurse for Emerson-Day Co. during the construction of the Niagara Power Project.
In 1954, she joined DeGraff Memorial Hospital and was instrumental in organizing its Intensive Care and Coronary Care units.
In 1973, Mrs. Lorenze moved to Sanborn, where she worked as an office nurse for Dr. Robert Rose until 1979.
From 1980 to 1990, when she retired, Mrs. Lorenze was the school nurse for Orleans-Niagara Board of Cooperative Educational Services Center in Sanborn.
Survivors include her husband of 23 years, James F.; four sons, James R. of Mobile, Ala., Douglas M. of Youngstown, Scott W. Scudmore of Dunfries, Va., and Marc A. Scudmore of North Tonawanda; two daughters, Robin Vertino of Grand Island and Laurie A. Bartlett; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was born Sept. 12, 1913, in Wheatfield, the daughter of Adolf and Eleonore (Retzlaff) Haseley.
On Sept. 21. 1935, she married Arthur P. DuBois in Niagara Falls.
Mrs. DuBois was a member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. where she belonged to the Ladies Aide (sic) and Alter Guild for many years. She also was an exempt member of the Bergholz Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary.
She enjoyed needlepoint and crocheting.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Duane DuBois of Wheatfield; a daughter, Jane Andrews of Sanborn; two brothers, Melvin Walck of Farmington, Mich., and Norman Walck of Sanborn; two sisters, Helen Waldkoetter of North Tonawanda and Doris Toellner of Madison Heights. Mich.; two granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Chester Walck.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, where the Ladies Auxiliary of the Bergholz Fire Co. will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. today. He retired in 1988 after 34 years with the Town of Wheatfield.
A World War II veteran of the Army Air Forces, Walck was a past commander of American Legion Post 1451 in Wheatfield.
He also had served as president of the Wheatfield Business Association and as secretary of the American Waterworks Association, and was on the board of the former Bergholz Fire Insurance Co.
Walck was an exempt member of the Sanborn Fire Company.
He enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, the former Audrey Mueller; a son, Robert of Chicago; a daughter, Cheryl Hayes of Lockport; two sisters, Helen Waldkoetter of North Tonawanda and Doris Toellner of Michigan; a brother, Melvin of Michigan; and three grandchildren.

WHEATFlELD - Chester E. Walck, 65, of Hoover Road, died Saturday. (Dec. 5, 1992) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston. He was born in Wheatfield on Dec. 22, 1926, the son of August and Eleanor Walck. He was a lifelong resident of Wheatfield and a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church on Walmore Road, where he also was a past trustee.
Walck worked, at the Harrison Radiator Division of General Motors in Lockport for 34 years, retiring in 1989. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Wheatfield Republican Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and family life.

Helen W. Waldkoetter (Gath) (nee Walck) of North Tonawanda, was taken by Jesus to her Heavenly home on December 2, 2008 while in Niagara Hospice House, after a 12 year courageous battle with cancer. Helen was a graduate of the Buffalo General School of Nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse in the Obstetrics Unit at DeGraff Memorial Hospital until the early 1970’s. In the early 1980’s she began a career as a much loved tour escort in the travel industry as a co-founder of, The Way to Go Tours. She was a very active and devoted member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and for many years she worked for the Niagara County Board of Elections. She was the daughter of the late August and Eleaner Walck and was the wife of the late Irving Gath. Beloved wife of Jerry Waldkoetter; dear mother of Wendy (Thomas) Zuch, Randall (Lee) Gath, Kathleen (John) Fretthold, Robert (Edythe) Gath all of North Tonawanda, and Julie Waldkoetter of New York City. NIAGARA FALLS — Howard Edward Phillip Walck, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2011, at the age of 94, in Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay, Ontario. He was born in the Town of Wheatfield, on December 30,1917, the son of the late Felix and Agatha (Retzlaff) Walck.

Howard attended St. Peter's Lutheran School and church where he served as a Trustee. He graduated from Cornell Agricultural School. Howard was the co-owner and operator of the former Walck's Dairy from 1935 until 1971. He then worked with the Niagara County Highway Department until his retirement. He enjoyed spending his winters in Florida, where he was a member and elder of the Christ Lutheran Church and his summers at his cottage in Canada. Howard enjoyed fishing, gardening and playing cards with his dear friends.

He was the husband of the late Lillian (Retzlaff) Walck, they were married in June of 1939, she predeceased him on April 26, 1978. Howard is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" (Hough) Walck. They where married on May 17, 1979. Three sons, Howard (Shirley), Douglas (Susan), Dennis (Judy) Walck; eight grandchildren, Brent (Andrea), Bruce (Jennifer) Walck, Jennifer (Curt) Muma, Craig (Jessica), Ashleigh and Phillip Walck, Kari (Rob) Corsaro, Adam (Amber) Walck; three great-grandchildren, Nathan, Alyssa and Robbie; one sister, Jennis (late Harold) Pankow; three step-sons, Gordon (Linda), Steven (Gabrielle) and Peter (Lori) Hough; four-step grandchildren, Andrew (Lee) Hough, Michelle (Jayson) Millson, Kyle and Benn Hough; three great-grandchildren, Cooper, Abigail and Isabelle Hough; also many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Bruce Walck.

WHEATFIELD - Alice B. (Retzlaff) Walck, age 87, of Wheatfield, was called peacefully to her heavenly home, to be with her Lord and Savior on October 16, 2012 at her residence. Born in the Town of Wheatfield, NY, on July 22, 2012, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Lily (Pfuhl) Retzlaff. Alice attended St. Peter's Lutheran School in Walmore and was a 1943 graduate of LaSalle High School. She was employed at the former Bell Aircraft and later at the Carborundum Company - Bonded Abrasives division in Niagara Falls, until her retirement in 1983. Alice was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church, Wheatfield, where she was with the St. Peter's Quilters. She was also a member of the Ransomville Seniors and enjoyed gardening, flowers and traveling. WHEATFIELD - Willis S. Retzlaff, who served as town assessor for 27 years and was active in community and church affairs, died of a heart attack Saturday in his home. He was 78.
Mr. Retzlaff was born in Wheatfield and attended local schools. He served in the Air Force and was a member of Wheatfield Post 1451, American Legion.
He was a lifelong farmer and a skilled carpenter who built several homes in the area.
He was town assessor from 1972 to 1999 and the following year was appointed to the Zoning Board of Appeals. He had been president of the Niagara County Assessors Association and an officer of the New York State Assessors Association.
Mr. Retzlaff was an active member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he served as president, elder and financial secretary. At the time of his death, he was chairman of the cemetery committee.
He was a charter member and past president of the Wheatfield Lions Club and was serving as treasurer at the time of his death.
He was named Lion of the Year in 1991 and won two other Lions awards: the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award in 1994 and the Robert Uplinger Distinguished Service Award in 1998.
He was a charter member of the Wheatfield Republican Club; member and past president of the Wheatfield Business Association; treasurer of the Wheatfield Family Picnic Committee; a former member of the Bergholz German Band; a member of the town Historical Society; and a volunteer for Kids Voting.
He enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, the former Lois Hassan; a daughter, Debra Sheehan of Bergholz; a son, Randall of Wheatfield; a sister, Alice Walck of Sanborn; a brother, Kenneth of Wheatfield; and six grandchildren-.
Services will be at 11 A.M. Wednesday in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore Road. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Willis Sherman Retzlaff

Willis Sherman Retzlaff was born on June 7,1927 to Arthur and Lily (Pfuhl) Retzlaff. He was baptized on June 19, 1927 and confirmed on April 14, 1940. Willis was united in marriage to Lois Hassan on September 8, 1951. They were blessed with two children, Debra and Randall.
Willis was a life long member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church where he served as President of the Congregation, financial secretary, Elder and presently as Chairman of the Cemetery Committee.
Willis farmed for many years then went into carpentry and built many homes in the area. He was elected Assessor for the Town of Wheatfield and served in that capacity for 27 years, retiring in 1999.
He was a charter member, past President and currently served as Treasurer of the Wheatfield Lions Club. He was named Lion of the year in 1991, received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award in 1994 and the Robert Uplinger Distinguished Service Award in 1998. He was a charter member of the Wheatfield Republican Club, member of the Wheatfield Senior Citizens, member and past President of the Wheatfield Business Association and treasurer of the Wheatfield Family Picnic Committee, a former member of the Bergholz Band, member of the Historical Society, was a volunteer for Kids Voting each year, was a former President of Niagara County Assessor's Association, a former officer of the New York State Assessor's Association, served in the U.S. Air Force, and was a member of the American Legion-Wheatfield Post 1451, member of the Wheatfield Zoning Board of Appeals.
Willis enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren and helping anyone in need.
On Saturday, August 20, 2005, at home, unexpectedly Willis was called to be with His Lord.

He was a member of the Wheatfield Republican Club, was a trustee at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, and a member of the building committee of the new addition of the church. Ken enjoyed golfing, hunting, and spending time at the cabin.Survivors include his loving wife; six children, Brian (Sandra) Retzlaff, Gary Retzlaff, Sandra (Steven) Lange, Carol (Leonard) Binns, David (Allison) Retzlaff, Dale (Lisa) Retzlaff; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was devoted to serving the Lord, owned and operated a dairy farm in Sanborn, was an avid hunter, farmer, gardener, drove truck until he was 86, and enjoyed traveling. She was born Aug. 30, 1935, in Wheatfield, the daughter of William and Selma (Walck) Walck.
She had lived in the Sanborn area her entire life, attending local schools and graduating from Niagara Falls High School in 1954. Mrs. DeVantier worked for the former Kimberly-Clark Corp. from 1954 to 1958, and later was a courier for the MDS Lab for six years.
She married Ralph DeVantier on Nov. 3, 1956. She worked at his construction company as a bookkeeper and secretary for 37 years.
She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Messiah in Lewiston, and the Wheatfield Jaycees. She also had been active with the Niagara County 4H Program for many years.
Mrs. DeVantier enjoyed gardening, bowling and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Sandra Retzlaff of Sanborn and Amy Bessel of Niagara Falls; three sons, Duane DeVantier of North Tonawanda, Kent DeVantier of Cleveland and Bruce DeVantier of Lewiston; one brother, Edgar Walck of Sanborn; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Irma Haseley.

CAMBRIA - John F.. Kroening, 15, of Upper Mountain Road, . former Town. of Cambria supervisor, died Saturday (Nov. 8, 1997) in Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, after being struck by an automobile. He was responding to the scene of an automobile accident with the Cambria Fire Co. on North Ridge Road near Church Road, when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle while crossing the street.
He was born Oct. 28. 1922, in Niagara Falls, the son of Elmer and Elsie (Walck) Kroening. He and his family moved to Sanborn when he was an ...... Mr. Kroening later to the family farm (sic) in Cambria when he was 8 years old. He attended LaSalle High School.
Mr. Kroening served as the supervisor of Cambria from 1970 to 1993, and as a councilman for 15 years before becoming supervisor. He also worked at the former Wurlitzer Co. and the National Grinding Wheel for a few years before becoming a full-time dairy farmer.
He was a charter member of the Cambria Volunteer Fire County, founded in 1944, where he served as chief from 1952. to 1957. He was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Ridge, and a former member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Pekin, where he served as treasurer from 1952 to 1955 and as chairman in 1969.
Mr. Kroening was a former director of the Niagara County Extension Service and served on the Niagara County Agricultural Stabilization Committee.
“He loved our town,” said June, his wife of 45 years. “He always treated the town's money just as if it was his own.”
A “no-nonsense” sort of guy was how Councilman George J. Bush described Kroening.
“Farmers don't really talk between the lines,” he said, adding that Kroening had approached him years ago to serve on the town's Recreation Commission. Even though Bush just said he would think about it, the next thing he knew, he had been appointed. Although Kroening wore a pacemaker and had some health problems the past few years, his wife said “you couldn't keep him from doing things” as he still loved riding his tractor and helping out others.

Herbert E. Kroening, 75, a councilman for the Town of Cambria, died unexpectedly Monday (Jan. 29, 2001) in Lockport Memorial Hospital.
Born in Lewiston, he operated a dairy farm in Cambria for more than 50 years.
He was serving his third term on the Cambria Town Board at the time of his death.
Kroening was a member of Cambria Volunteer Fire Company for 52 years and served on the town's Agriculture Stabilization Committee for more than 30 years. He also was a committeeman with the National Grape Co-op (Welch's) and a director with Niagara Milk Producers for 13 years.
He was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Lockport.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, the former Jeanette Schuman; two daughters, Kathy Kemble and Bonnie Glenn, both of Lockport; a son, Randy of Wilson; two brothers, Harry and Martin of Sanborn; two sisters, Hazel Haseley of Sanborn and Doris DeVantier of Bergholz; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday in Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 6965 Chestnut Ridge Road, Lockport. Burial will be in North Ridge Cemetery, Cambria

Harry A. Kroening, 88, of Sanborn, NY was called to his heavenly home on Monday, May 9, 2016, at his residence under the care of his family and Niagara Hospice. He was born in the Town of Lewiston, on June 6, 1927, the son of the late Elmer and Elsie [Walck] Kroening.

Mr. Kroening owned a dairy farm and was later employed with the Operating Engineers Local 463 for over 30 years, before retiring in 1989. He was an active member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church for the past 83 years, holding several offices. He was an exempt member of the Shawnee Volunteer Fire Company.

Mr. Kroening built his own home as well as a cabin in the Southern Tier. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, gardening and woodworking.

Mr. Kroening was the husband of 63 years to the late Jeanette [Beutel] Kroening, who died on April 30, 2010. He is survived by his children Joyce Kroening, Daniel (Lois) Kroening, Carl (Donna) Kroening, Lee (Debra) Kroening, Diane (Michael) Sweet and Donna Kroening, thirteen grandchildren, Alicia (Ryan), Jeremy (Kerry), Justin (Aleasha), Andrew, Matthew, Rachel, Michelle (Thomas), Ashley, Lauren, Jessica, Jennifer, Kristina (Robert) and Joseph, two step-grandchildren, Teresa and Gina (Mario), two great-grandchildren Elizabeth and Eli, four step-great-grandchildren, Anthony, Julian, Nico and Jada, one brother Martin (Shirly) Kroening, two sisters Hazel (late Alfred) Haseley and Doris (Dennis) DeVantier, and a sister-in-law June Kroening. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was the father of the late Jean and Lynn Kroening and brother of the late John, Raymond (late Rose) and Herbert (late Jeanette) Kroening.

Mrs. Wendt attended local schools and was employed with the National Grinding Wheel, the Sanborn Greenhouse and as a cleaner at St. Peter's Lutheran School for many years. She was actively involved with the Sanborn Fire Company Band and with the Women of Church quilting group. Mrs. Wendt loved spending time with her family and enjoyed playing Bingo and shopping.


She was the wife of the late Bertrum Wendt, who died in January of 2000.
Mrs. Wendt is survived by her daughters Darlene C. (James) Giannini, Sally A. (Michael) Kelley and Laurie L. (Peter Eodice) Wendt Draper, four grandchildren James Giannini, II, Rochelle (Brian) Wylke, Jessica and Jenna Kelley, six great grandchildren Elyssa, Brianna, Landen, Kaden, Kendra and Jaxon, and was the sister of Gilbert I. (Carol) Walck, Jerauld F. (Kay) Walck and Janice (Martin) Wick, she also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Arnold E. Walck.

Arnold E. Walck of Robinson Road, an employee of the Niagara County Parks and Highway departments since 1979, died Sunday (May 29, 1994) in Lockport Memorial Hospital after suffering a heart attack.
Walck, 61, a Lewiston native, served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1959. He was a past member of the Sanborn Fire Company Band and a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore, where he was a trustee. He also attended The Chapel in Amherst.

GILBERT IRVIN WALCK, age 82, of Sanborn, NY, passed into eternal rest with his Lord and Savior in his home on May 4, 2020, while being cared for by his loving family and Niagara Hospice. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on February 23, 1938, to the late Edward and Florence Walck.
On October 19, 1963, Gilbert married Carol Joyce (Pfohl) Walck, his wife of 56 years. Gilbert was a life long, self employed dairy farmer in Niagara County which included a herd of dairy cows that spanned 51 years. He served on various agricultural committees which included the Farm Service Agency for USDA, Niagara County Farm Bureau and as a Director for Wendt's Dairy. He was an exempt member of the Sanborn Volunteer Fire Company and had served in the United States National Guard.
Throughout his life Gilbert enjoyed bowling in the Sanborn Businessmen League, watching his favorite baseball team the New York Yankees, deer hunting at the cabin, and riding in his golf cart to check up on what the boys were doing, on the farm. One of his greatest passions was his yearly trip to the Indianapolis 500 race with his dear friends.
Coffee with friends at Marsh's store and Sunday lunch at the Jetport after church were part of his weekly routine he so enjoyed. Gilbert had a very outgoing personality and no matter the event, always knew someone and took time for a conversation. He was a life long active member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church where he faithfully attended weekly worship services.
Gilbert is survived by his loving wife, Carol Walck, and three children, Randy J. (Amy) Walck, Darla J. (Randall) Kroening-Retzlaff and Gary K. (Jill Haseley) Walck; six grandchildren, Tyler (Laura) Kroening, Matthew Kroening, Brock Kroening, Sara, Katie and Luke Walck; a brother Gerald (Kathleen) Walck of Sanborn, NY, a sister Janice (late Martin) Wick of Schwenksville, PA; and many nieces and nephews. Gilbert was predeceased by his broter Arnold Walck; sister Norine (Walck) Wendt; brother-in-law Bertrum Wendt; and son-in-law Mark D. Kroening. Gilbert was the son-in-law of the late Wallace and Edna (Schimschack) Pfohl.

Janice Florence (Walck) Wick, 80, of Schwenksville, PA, formerly of Medford, NJ and Sanborn, NY,  passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021.  She was born in Sanborn, NY on August 26th, 1940 to the late Edward Philipp Benjamin and Florence Sophia (Pfohl) Walck.  
On October 1, 1971, Janice married her love, Martin Anthony “Marty” Wick Jr.   She was a committed, caring wife and devoted mother who worked tirelessly to provide a happy life for her family. 
She volunteered at her church and worked for many years outside the home at Cigna Insurance.  
Janice was characterized as deeply caring,  naturally putting other people’s feelings first, and always having a hot meal ready.
Despite moving away from family shortly after marriage, she remained true to her strong, German, Lutheran heritage of Sanborn, NY and worked to ensure  that her children were raised “right”.  In fact, “Did you go to church this week?” was the first phrase heard on calls home throughout the years.
Janice was a life-long, devout Lutheran and an active member at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Marlton, NJ, prior to recently moving closer to her daughter in Pennsylvania, where she continued to faithfully worship.  
Janice is survived by her two children, Martin Anthony (Page) Wick III of Dallas, TX and Rachel Elizabeth (Joshua) Myers of Lansdale, PA; five grandchildren, Amelia Simrall, Josephine Pfhol, and Mary Martin Wick and Joshua John  and Justine Elizabeth Myers; twin brother, Jerauld (Kathleen) Walck of Sanborn, NY; sister in-law Carol Walck of Sanborn, NY; Christine G. Wick of Euclid, OH; and brother-in-law, Fulton J. Wick of Perrysburg, OH, as well as 15 nieces and nephews.  
Janice was predeceased by her husband, Martin Anthony “Marty” Wick: brothers, Arnold Walck and Gilbert Walck; sister, Norine (Walck) Wendt; brother-in-law, Bertrum Wendt.

Melvin graduated from Wilson High School in 1951. He served in the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He loved his family and was an avid hunter and gardener. Melvin was a very active member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, in Sanborn, where he served in various leadership positions over the years.
Melvin is predeceased by his loving wife, Elaine Pfohl, of 60 years. He is survived by his three children, Donna (Robert) Knights of Penfield, NY, Barbara Walck (Mark Lindauer) of Sanborn, NY, and Gary (Karen) Pfohl of Asheboro, NC; four grandchildren, Lindsey Knights (Mark Janzen), Laura Knights (Jake Parker), Megan (Peter) Fendt, and Jenna (Kevin) Hanes, and a future great-granddaughter. WELLSVILLE - Marilyn R. Cornelius, 83, of 4192A Bolivar Road, passed away Friday (July 31, 2020) at the Wellsville Manor Care Center, with her family by her side. She was born March 25, 1937, in Niagara Falls, the daughter of the late Martin and Viola Walck Pfohl. On July 9, 1955, in Elm Valley, she married Louis "Ben" Cornelius, who predeceased her Dec. 19, 2018. Throughout her life, Marilyn was employed in several professions, including as a telephone operator for New York Telephone; being a waitress for The Coffee Pot, Long View and Howard's; selling Avon; and working at the Allegany County Jail. However, Marilyn found her calling in nursing. She had been scheduled to be the valedictorian of her senior high school class but instead opted to follow her heart and marry Ben before having the opportunity to graduate. At the age of 45 she began to pursue her dream and career. She obtained her GED and enrolled in the Alfred State College nursing program. She not only had perfect attendance, but earned high grades and the respect of the younger students. They loved her so much, they nominated her their class president. Upon graduating with an associate's degree, Marilyn would work in both Olean General and Jones Memorial hospitals. Marilyn and Ben were members of the Trinity Lutheran Church, and Marilyn was a member of the Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandma, aunt, nurse and friend to many. Her work on Earth is done, and she is home with her Lord. Surviving are two sons, Louis "Ben" (Judith) Cornelius and Bradley Cornelius, both of Wellsville; a daughter, Karen Lane of Virginia Beach, Va.; six grandchildren, Justin (Kari) Cornelius, Matthew (Diana Gowdy) Cornelius, Brian Lane, Kelly Lane, Joshua Cornelius and Jacob Cornelius; a brother, Delbert (Joanne) Phohl; and a sister, Lorraine (Larry) Steingasser, both of Sanborn; as well as several nieces and nephews. Mabel L. Beutel, 72, died Thursday (Nov. 15, 2001) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a short illness.
Mrs. Beutel was born Mabel DeVantier in the Town of Niagara. She attended area schools and was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
A homemaker, Mrs. Beutel was an excellent baker. Her family said they will especially remember her pies.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Leonard H.; two sons, Larry J. of Iowa Lake, TX, and Loren H. of Wheatfield; a daughter, Linda J. Haseley of Pendleton; two sisters, Elaine Pfohl and Virginia DeVantier, both of Niagara Falls; and six grandchildren.

Cherry Hill - Doris J. DeVantier, age 84, of Cherry Hill passed away after a short illness on December 5, 2017. She was the devoted and loving wife of the late Roger DeVantier for 62 years. Doris was born in Niagara Falls, NY the first child of the late Clarence and Esther Wittkopp. Doris and Roger moved to Cherry Hill in 1957. After passionately raising four children (some required more effort than others), she decided to return to school and earned her diploma as a licensed practical nurse. She helped numerous patients in the Delaware Valley. She was a charter member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church where she was active and energetic in the life of the church until her death. Doris enjoyed knitting, sewing, ceramics, choir singing, and travel. Most of all she was devoted to her family. Roger and Doris especially cherished the annual vacations at Sea Isle City, NJ. They educated us about God's most incredible gift - our Family. Her amazingly strong character taught us lessons that are being passed down to multiple generations through her children and grandchildren. Her last few years of life were challenged by numerous physical and emotional heartaches. She faced all of them with a positive attitude, grace, and exceptional strength that are a true inspiration to all who knew her. She was predeceased by her husband Roger, daughter Joyce White and son Mark DeVantier. Left to cherish her memory include her children Wayne (Pam) DeVantier of Chesapeake, VA, Keith (Betty Jo) DeVantier of Cornelius, NC , daughter in law Vickie DeVantier of Richardson, TX, and son in law Don White of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. Nine adoring grandchildren Drew White, Nicole White, Rachel (Joe) Rice, Audra DeVantier, Kristie Jo (Josh) Schutt, Brent (Kendra) DeVantier Jamie Lee (Ryan) Hillary , Laura DeVantier and Ross DeVantier, as well as four great-grandchildren. Karen A. Pfohl, 51, of Schoellkopf Health Center, Niagara Falls, who worked as a clerk in the X-ray department of Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, for several years, died Wednesday (Dec. 8, 1999) in the health center after a 30-year bout with multiple sclerosis.
Miss Pfohl was born in Niagara Falls and was a graduate of Niagara-Wheatfield High School.
She worked as a secretary for several years at Errick Road School, Wheatfield, and had worked for several years at Mount St. Mary's Hospital until the time of her illness.
Miss Pfohl was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school at one time.
She had lived in the health center for the past five years and prior to that resided at home with her parents.
Survivors include her parents, Hubert and Norma, and two sisters, Beverly Pendergast and Janet Tober.
Services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore Road. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery

Calvin was employed with the Carpenters Local 276, until his retirement. He was a life long active member of St. Peter's Lutheran Chruch, Sanborn, where he served as a reader, trustee, church school picnic committee, and anytime something needed to be repaired, he was there. Calvin was also a member of the Sanborn Fire Company Band, Sanborn Business Men's Bowling, and the 3F Club of Youngstown. In his younger years, he was on the church league basket ball team, church bowling, and floor hockey. He enjoyed the quality time spent with his family, hunting, snowmobiling, and vacations at the camp in Allegany State Park. Survivors include his wife, Lisa M. (Heard) DuBois. They were married May 30, 1981; two children, Danielle E. (Seth) Ardrey of Ft. Kroening, Jr. on November 22, 1962. He was called home on August 2, 2000. Ann worked with her husband at their family business, the former Sanborn Milling Company, until 2002. Her hobbies included quilting with the St. Peter's women's quilting group, where she coordinated and assisted in shipping many quilts all over the world, shopping, sewing, cooking for her family, mowing the lawn and keeping busy. Ann's life was centered around her family, her faith in God, and everyone was always welcomed to spend time with her and her family. She was the beloved mother of Lynn (William) Lekki and Lee (Lynette) Kroening; cherished "mom" of Scott (Joelle) Pfohl; treasured and admired grandmother of Jarred and Betty Hebeler, Brianne Hebeler, Ian, Colin and Ella Kroening, Ryan and Nick Pfohl. Ann was also predeceased by two brothers, Loren Pfohl in 1960 and Eugene Pfohl in 2014. SANBORN — Eugene A. Pfohl, age 64, of Sanborn, was called peacefully to his heavenly home on January 20, 2014, while under the care of his family and Niagara Hospice. Born in the Town of Lewiston, NY on April 10, 1949, he was the son of the late Erwin and Elenora (DeVantier) Pfohl. Eugene was a 1967 graduate of Niagara Wheatfield High School. He was employed for 33 years at the former family business, Sanborn Milling Company, and 13 years as a truck driver with AT&A Trucking. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and attending classic car shows. Eugene spent countless hours working on his prized possession, a 1967 Dodge RT, of which he won several trophies and plaques. He was an active member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church-LCMC in Walmore, spent many years and really enjoyed coaching the St. Peter's boys and girls high school basketball team, and greatly enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his son, Scott (Joelle) Pfohl; grandchildren, Ryan and Nicholas Pfohl; a sister, Ann Kroening; niece, Lynn Hebeler; nephew, Lee (Lynette) Kroening; and great-nieces and nephews, Jarred and Brianne Hebeler, Ian, Colin and Ella Kroening. Also predeceased by a brother, Loren Pfohl.
