Old Resident of Sanborn Is Dead
SANBORN, Sept. 18.-Mrs. Ernestine Haseley, 74 years old, died yesterday at her home in the Saunder (sic) Settlement road. Mrs. Hasley (sic) is survived by three sons, Edward W., Eric (sic) F. and George A. Haseley, all of this vicinity; three daughters, Mrs. Albert Pfuhl and Mrs. Rudolph Walck, both of Sanborn, and Miss Ella Haseley, at home; one sister, Mrs. William F. Haseley, of Sanborn, and one brother, Albert Dubois. of Niagara Falls.
The funeral will be held from the family home on Thursday at 2 p.m., standard time, and at 2:30 from St. Peter's church at Walmore. The Rev. Edward A. Brabau (sic) will officiate. Interment will be in Walmore cemetery.
Mrs. Haseley was born in Germany and came to this country 67 years ago. She was the widow of Ferdinand J. Haseley. Five years ago they celebrated their 50th anniversary and Mr. Haseley died about three years ago.

SANBORN. March 8. - Funeral services for Edward W. Haseley. 84, of Saunders Settlement Road, who died March 2 at Memorial Hospital Niagara Falls, following a long Illness, were held Thursday at the home at 2 p. m and at St. Peters Church, Walmore. at 3:30 o'clock. The bearers were Martin Pfohl, Howard Walck, Rudolph Walck. Alfred Haseley, Kermit Haseley and Roy Marquart. The Rev. Edward Grabau officiated. Interment was in Walmore cemetery.

Mrs. Walck, 67, Dies in Hospital
SANBORN-Mrs. Ernistine (sic) D. Walck, 67, of 5939 Walmore Road, this community, died Tuesday (Jan. 3, 1967) at Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Walck had been attending a meeting of the Ladies Aid Society of St. Peter Lutheran Church at Walmore Tuesday night when she was stricken.
Mrs. Walck was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and an officer of the Ladies Aid Society.
She was born in this community, Sept. 11, 1899, the daughter of Ferdinand and Ernistine (sic) Haseley and lived in this area all of her life.
Besides her husband, Rudolf C. Walck, she is survived by two sons, Rudolf Walck Jr. and Leonard W. Walck; a daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Edna) Craft, all of Sanborn; a sister, Mrs. Ida Pfohl and a brother, Erich F. Haseley, both of this community; and four grandchildren.

SANBORN-Martin E. Haseley, 58, of 2744 Saunders Settlement Road, died Sunday (April 21, 1968) in Meyer Memorial Hospital, Buffalo, after a long illness.
Born in the Town of Wheatfield, he was the son of Edward W. and Hulda Walck Haseley and operated the family farm at the Saunders Settlement Road address where he lived all his life. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore Road, was former member of the senior choir, a member of the Farm Bureau Extension Service and director and agent of the Cooperative Fire Insurance Co. of Bergholtz. Mr. Haseley was a charter member, assistant chief and past chief of the Sanborn Volunteer Fire Company and had recently received a life membership into the company. Surviving are his wife, the former Josephine Blank; his mother Mrs. Hulda Haseley. Sanborn; a brother. Chester of Sanborn; three sisters, Mrs. Edward Kroening of Sanborn, and Mrs. Gerhard DeVantier and Mrs. Warren Camann, both of Niagara Falls. A1so surviving are several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Pike and Jones Funeral Home in Sanborn from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. tonight and Tuesday. The Sanborn native was born June 11, 1912, the daughter of Edward and Hulda (Walck) Haseley.
She was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a member of the Sanbornite Senior Citizens.
Her husband, Edwin H. Kroening, died Feb. 11, 1974.
She is survived by two sons, Gilbert Kroening of Ransomville and Harold Kroening of Sanborn; a daughter, Gladys Haseley of Sanborn; a sister, June Camman of Bergholz; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Sharon L. Kroening; sister of the late Martin Haseley, Chester Haseley and Martha DeVantier; and grandmother of the late Bruce Kroening.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Rhoney Funeral Home, 5893 Hoover Road, Sanborn. SANBORN - Chester A. Haseley, 63, of Saunders Settlement Road, owner of the Chet Haseley Dairy Farm, died Sunday (Jan. 4,1987) at his farm. He was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wheatfield, an exempt member of the Sanborn Fire County, and played the tuba in the Sanborn Fire Co. Band for 46 years. Haseley was for many years a baseball player on various local teams. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion Wheatfield Post No. 1451. He was also a member of Amvets Post No. 26 in North Tonawanda. He is survived by his wife, Lillian (Heuer) Haseley; sons, Daniel, Kevin and Randy Haseley of Sanborn; sisters, Helen Kroening and Mrs. Warren (June) Camann of Sanborn; and four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was a brother of the late Martin Haseley and Martha DeVantier. AMHERST - June M. Camann was called to her heavenly home to be with her Lord on Saturday, August 2, 2014, in Williamsville Suburban Nursing Home, Amherst, NY, at the age of 86.

She was born in Lewiston, NY, on June 15, 1928, the daughter of the late Edward William and Eleanor Hulda (Walck) Haseley.

Mrs. Camann attended Niagara Falls High School. She was employed with Carborundum and was a cook at both the Bergholz Restaurant and John's Flaming Hearth, where she met Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio.

She was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Walmore, where she helped prepare meals and served on the Bereavement Luncheons. She was an avid supporter of the Sanborn Fire Company Band.

Mrs. Camann was a beloved aunt and sister-in-law known for her baking of delicious cookies and pies. Family events were very important to her and she treated her nieces and nephews like her own children.

She was the wife of the late Warren E. Camann, who died on July 26, 2003. They were married on October 8, 1949.

Mrs. Camann is survived by her sister-in-law, Lillian Haseley; four nieces, Connie Washburn, Marcia Gardiner, Gladys Haseley and Brenda Butry; five nephews, Gary DeVantier, Kevin Haseley, Randy Haseley, Jack Cindrich and Richard Cindrich, and also many great-nieces, nephews and cousins. She was the sister of the late Helen Kroening, Martha DeVantier, Martin Haseley and Chester Haseley; aunt of the late Sharon Kroening, K. Gilbert Kroening, Daniel Haseley, Harold Kroening, Daniel Cindrich and Rodney Cindrich.

The family will be present on Wednesday from 4-8 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 6168 Walmore Road, Sanborn, NY, with the Rev. Bruce M. Gamache officiating. The native of Sanborn was born on Feb. 20, 1904, to Albert and Ida (Haseley) Pfohl. He worked at the former Dobbie Foundry in Niagara Falls for 43 years. He retired in 1966.
Pfohl was a member of St. Paul Calvary Lutheran Church in Niagara Falls, where he was once an elder of the church. On Feb. 9, 1992 he and his wife, Viola E. Walck Pfohl of Fairchild Manor, Lewiston celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Melvin Pfohl of Niagara Falls and Delbert Pfohl of Sanborn; two daughters, Marilyn Cornelius of Wellsville, and Lorraine Steingasser of Sanborn; a sister, Edna Wienke of Sanborn; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was born on Feb. 12,1916, in 'Wheatfield, the daughter of Albert. and Ida (Haseley) ,Pfuhl. On Nov 8, 1929, she married Clarence E. Wienke. He died in January 1979
A lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. In Wheatfield, Mrs. Wienke was, active in the Women of the Church. She was a member of the Sanbornite Senior Citizens and did volunteer work at local nursing homes.
She enjoyed family life.
Mrs. Wienke is survived by two sons, Leonard Wienke of Sanborn and Wilfred Wienke of Morgantown, W.Va.; a daughter, Edele Wurl of Sanborn, seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews.
She was the sister of the late Albert Pfuhl and Martin Pfuhl.

WHEATFIELD - Albert N. Pfuhl 68, of 2134 Lockport Road, Niagara Falls, died Saturday (Feb. 15, 1975) In Memorial Medical Center after a short illness.
He was a lifelong resident of the Town of Wheatfield and had been employed as a production worker at the Carborundum Co. He had worked for many years on a farm.
He is survived by his wife, Gertrude (Jagow) Pfuhl; a son, Herbert Pfuhl of Webster, N.Y.; a brother, Martin Pfohl of Sanborn; a sister, Mrs. Clarence (Edna) Wienke of Sanborn; and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Clifford Pfuhl.

Haseley, 70, pf Saunders Settlement Road, was a native of the Town of Lewiston and a longtime member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sanborn.
He is survived by his wife, Irma H. Haseley; a son, David Haseley of Sanborn; daughters, Diane Frerichs and Shirley Walck, both of Niagara Falls; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

SANBORN - Mrs. Myra H. Haseley, 44, of Saunders Settlement Rd., died today (April 5, 1956) in Rosewell Park Memorial Institute, Buffalo, after a long illness.
Born in the Town of Wheatfield July 10, 1911, Mrs. Haseley was the daughter of the late George A. and Helena Lang (sic) Haseley. She was a member of St. Peter's Church, Walmore. She is survived by her husband, Norman W. Haseley; two sons, Harold N. and Duane A. Haseley; a daughter, Marie E. Haseley; and an aunt, Miss Ella Haseley, all at home; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Haseley was born November 24, 1920, in Sanborn, NY, the son of Erich and Lily [ Walck ] Haseley, where he attended local schools. He had resided in the Town of Cambria, NY, for the last 57 years. He was employed as a welder at the General Abrasives, for 44 years, prior to retiring in 1985 Alfred was a longtime member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church Sanborn, NY, where he has served as and Elder and Trustee.
He was a former of the Sanborn Fire Company Band, the Sanborn Business League and Wheatfield Senior Bowling Leagues, for many years. He enjoyed going to Church, being with his children, grandchildren and gardening.
Surviving is his loving wife of 57 years, the former Hazel E. [ Kroening ] Haseley, hi s children, Susan Haseley; Sandra [ Thomas ] Seefeldt; Darwin [ Debbie ] Haseley; Faye [ Peter ] Vogt; Jeffrey [ Doreen ] Haseley; a sister, Pearl DeVantier; 12 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister Lily Peter.

Pearl Elfreida (Haseley) DeVantier, the daughter of the late Erich F. and Lily (Walck ) Haseley, was born on April 11, 1930, in the town of Lewiston, Niagara County, New York. She was baptized into the Christian faith on April 20, 1920 by Pastor Edward A. Grabau in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Walmore. After taking religious instructions under Pastor Grabau, Pearl made public affirmation of her faith through the rite of Confirmation on April 18, 1943. She attended St. Peter’s
Parochial School until high school. On May 12, 1951, Pearl was united in marriage with Norman A. DeVantier in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Their 26 years of married life together were blessed by God with three children: Marlene, Lauren, and Scott. Pearl was a 1947 graduate of LaSalle High School and had worked as a secretary at Vedder Insurance Agency, Walter S. Johnson Building Company., and E.I. duPont Company; also at Hens & Kelly Department store as an office manager, and Bell Aerospace Textron as an administrative secretary from which she retired in 1992. Church was a large part of Pearl’s life. She was a leader of Junior Lutherans, participated in the Women of the Church group, sang in the church choir and faithfully attended services. She was an avid collector of angels and enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, card playing and floral arranging. Her specialty was making old-fashioned German waffles and baking hundreds of Christmas cookies to give away!
Pearl died in the Lord on March 25, 2020, having attaining the age of 90. She suffered from complications of the Coronavirus. She was predeceased by her husband, Norman, in 1977, a sister Lily Peter in 2003, and a brother, Alfred Haseley, in 2006.
Pearl is survived by two daughters, Marlene (Mark) Sivecz and Dr. Lauren (Kenneth) DeVantier Schosek, one son, Scott (Paula) DeVantier, a sister-inlaw, Hazel Haseley, five grandchildren, Daniel (Inhee) Han-Sivecz, Melinda (Ryan) Charron, Rev. David Sivecz, Katherine (Rahul) DeVantier-Pradhu, and Christina (Andrew Fera) DeVantier, and two great-grandchildren, Natalie Charron and Matthias Han-Sivecz along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Private Christian graveside services were held at the St. James Lutheran Cemetery on May 30, 2020 with the Rev. Daniel Tabor officiating. Memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church, 2437 Niagara Rd., Niagara Falls, NY 14304. Arrangements were with the DuBois Funeral Home, Wheatfield, NY.

Rudolf A. Walck, of Walmore Road, a lifelong resident of Sanborn, died Wednesday (July 2,1986) in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.
Walck, 64, operated a dairy farm with his son and brother for many years. He belonged to the Hockey Alumni League and was an exempt member of the Sanborn Fire County, a member of the Sanborn Firemen's Band for more than 30 years and a member of other musical organizations. He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Sanborn and he had been very active in area softball leagues during the 1950s and 1960s.
Walck was the son of the late Rudolf and Ernestine Walck, husband of the late Jeanette (Mueller) Walck and brother of the late Edna Craft.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Simons) Walck; a son, Wayne Walck of Sanborn; a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Lynn) Wilson of Sanborn; a brother, Leonard Walck of Sanborn; a granddaughter, two nephews and several grandnieces and grandnephews.

He was born in Lewiston on July 27, 1926, the son of Rudolf C. and Ernestine (Haseley) Walck. He was a graduate of LaSalle Senior High School.
He was in a partnership with his nephew, Wayne R. Walck, in the Falcon Acres Farm in Sanborn, where he was a dairy and vegetable farmer for 50 years.
The Walck family has had a stall for more than 50 years at the Niagara Falls City Market, where he had worked since he was a boy.
He was member of the Town of Lewiston Planning Board.
Mr. Walck was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Sanborn, where he was a past treasurer of its Sunday school. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau, the Niagara County Milk Producers Cooperative, and a past member of the Sanborn Volunteer Fire Co. Band.
Mr. Walck is survived by his wife of 22 years, Alice (Retzlaff) Walck of Sanborn; three nephews; a niece; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was the brother of the late Rudolf A. Walck and Edna Craft.

SANBORN - Miss Sharon L. Kroening, 24, of 2849 Saunders Settlement Road, a physical education teacher at Niagara-Wheatfield Central School, died unexpectedly at her home Sunday (Dec. 22, 1968).
Miss Kroening, a native of Sanborn, was born Jan. 25, 1944, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Kroening, owners of the Kroening Garage here. She attended the Sanborn public school, and Niagara- Wheatfield High School, graduating in 1962.
She was a graduate of the State University of Buffalo, in 1966, and had been working there toward a master's degree in health and physical education.
She was a Sunday school teacher at Calvary Lutheran Church, Niagara Falls, until two years ago. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Niagara-Wheatfield District Education Association and the New York State Teachers Association.
In addition to her parents, survivors include two brothers, Gilbert and Harold Kroening; a sister, Mrs. Benjamin (Gladys) Haseley; her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Hu1da Haseley, and several nieces and nephews.

Daniel E. Haseley, 47, of West Street, a prominent amateur athlete, died Friday (Jan. 30, 1998) in Roswell Park Cancer Institute. He had battled cancer for the past three months.
Haseley was born in Niagara Falls
He attended St. Peter's Lutheran School and graduated from Niagara-Wheatfield Senior High School in 1968.
Haseley was a mechanical engineer operator for the Town of Lewiston for the past 19 years, after having been employed at the Sanborn Milling Co. He worked on his parents' farm during his school years.
Haseley played basketball locally for years, seeing action in the Niagara Falls Industrial, YMCA, Air Base, Inter-Church, and Lutheran Men's leagues. His teams won several league championships, and from 1979 to 1981, Haseley's teams won 36 consecutive games.
He also starred in softball. His Marlboro Inn team won the Art Ponzi Fast-Pitch League crown in 1975, and his Stockade Restaurant squad captured the Niagara Falls Air Base League title in 1984. Haseley's St. Peter's teams dominated the inter-church League for years. Haseley also bowled in the Sanborn Businessmen's League, carrying an average of over 200.

MELVIN H. PFOHL, age 86 of Niagara Falls, NY, was called to his heavenly home on Saturday, March 28, 2020 in Mount St. Mary's Hospital. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on October 16, 1933, son of Martin and Viola Pfohl.
Melvin graduated from Wilson High School in 1951. He served in the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He loved his family and was an avid hunter and gardener. Melvin was a very active member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, in Sanborn, where he served in various leadership positions over the years.
Melvin is predeceased by his loving wife, Elaine Pfohl, of 60 years. He is survived by his three children, Donna (Robert) Knights of Penfield, NY, Barbara Walck (Mark Lindauer) of Sanborn, NY, and Gary (Karen) Pfohl of Asheboro, NC; four grandchildren, Lindsey Knights (Mark Janzen), Laura Knights (Jake Parker), Megan (Peter) Fendt, and Jenna (Kevin) Hanes, and a future great-granddaughter. Also survived by his three siblings, Marilyn (late Ben) Cornelius, Delbert (Joann) Pfohl, and Lorraine (Larry) Steingasser; and several nieces and nephews.

WELLSVILLE - Marilyn R. Cornelius, 83, of 4192A Bolivar Road, passed away Friday (July 31, 2020) at the Wellsville Manor Care Center, with her family by her side. She was born March 25, 1937, in Niagara Falls, the daughter of the late Martin and Viola Walck Pfohl. On July 9, 1955, in Elm Valley, she married Louis "Ben" Cornelius, who predeceased her Dec. 19, 2018. Throughout her life, Marilyn was employed in several professions, including as a telephone operator for New York Telephone; being a waitress for The Coffee Pot, Long View and Howard's; selling Avon; and working at the Allegany County Jail. However, Marilyn found her calling in nursing. She had been scheduled to be the valedictorian of her senior high school class but instead opted to follow her heart and marry Ben before having the opportunity to graduate. At the age of 45 she began to pursue her dream and career. She obtained her GED and enrolled in the Alfred State College nursing program. She not only had perfect attendance, but earned high grades and the respect of the younger students. They loved her so much, they nominated her their class president. Upon graduating with an associate's degree, Marilyn would work in both Olean General and Jones Memorial hospitals. Marilyn and Ben were members of the Trinity Lutheran Church, and Marilyn was a member of the Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandma, aunt, nurse and friend to many. Her work on Earth is done, and she is home with her Lord. Surviving are two sons, Louis "Ben" (Judith) Cornelius and Bradley Cornelius, both of Wellsville; a daughter, Karen Lane of Virginia Beach, Va.; six grandchildren, Justin (Kari) Cornelius, Matthew (Diana Gowdy) Cornelius, Brian Lane, Kelly Lane, Joshua Cornelius and Jacob Cornelius; a brother, Delbert (Joanne) Phohl; and a sister, Lorraine (Larry) Steingasser, both of Sanborn; as well as several nieces and nephews. David L. Haseley went to be with the Lord November 9, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer.  Born November 25, 1940 in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of Max F. and Irma Haseley.  David worked for Grand Island Sales & Service for 37 years retiring in 2007.  He loved farming, David worked with his father on the Max Haseley & Son Farm and after he retired he worked with his cousins Don Walck and Andrew Milleville at the A & M Farms.
David is survived by his wife of 21 years Joanne (Genet) Haseley; children Cheryl (Michael) Newton, Daryl (Rachel) Haseley, and the late Shawn Haseley; five grandchildren; sisters Diane (late Russell) Frerichs and Shirley (Howard) Walck; also several nieces and nephews.

(nee Haseley) Lapress, 74, of Youngstown, NY, passed from this life on Saturday, July 20, 2013 in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center in Niagara Falls, NY, following a brief illness. Born on October 25, 1938 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Myra Haseley.

In 1972, Mrs. Lapress married Norman J. Lapress. He predeceased her in 2001. Throughout her life, Marie was primarily a homemaker. She attended St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sanborn, NY, as well as Messiah Lutheran Church in Lewiston, NY. Mrs. Lapress enjoyed puzzles, reading, crossword puzzles, music and watching baseball.

Mrs. Lapress is survived by two sons, Jamie Lapress of Niagara Falls, NY and George Lapress of Youngstown, NY; two brothers, Harold Haseley of the Town of Niagara, NY and Duane Haseley of Sanborn, NY; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Wayne R. Walck of Sanborn, NY, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, October 7, 2021, in Buffalo General Medical Center.  
He was born in Niagara Falls, NY on March 5, 1943, the son of the late Rudolf A. and Jeanette E. [Mueller] Walck, Jr.
Mr. Walck graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School and began working with his grandfather,  father, uncle and later with his wife and daughter on the family farm and vegetable stand.
He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church Walmore, Farm Bureau and a charter member of Niagara County  Milk Cooperative.
Mr. Walck enjoyed playing baseball, hockey, fast pitch softball, hunting and watching westerns.  He was an assistant coach on his daughter's softball team.
Mr. Walck is survived by his wife of 45 years Jean E. [Himmelback] Walck, they were married on November 13, 1976, his daughter Claudette Walck, a sister Lynn (Thomas) Wilson, his step mother Dorothy Walck also cousins, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend his funeral services on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 6168 Walmore Road, Sanborn, NY, with the Rev. Thomas  Thorstad officiating.

She was the program director at Niagara County Community College Liberty Program for the past 8 years.
Jamie was actively involved with her children's activities, going to beauty pageants with her daughter and her sons sporting events.
Jamie was a dedicated mother and wife who cherished her time with family and friends, She was a fun loving person who would light up the room and will be remembered for her  outgoing personality.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of 9 years, Joshua Reid, her children Carter, Wesley and Vanessa Reid, a brother Jason (Alison) Haseley and was the sister in law of Aaron (fiancee' Shannon Bradley) Reid and Karisa (Nick) Johnson, also many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was the daughter-in-law of the late Bruce Reid and Julia McGill.
