Mr. Beutel had been employed for the last four years as a farm hand at the Adolph Moll farm, where he made his home.
Born in the Town of Wheatfield July 5, 1901, he was the son of John and Hulda Pfohl Beutel and had been a resident of the area throughout his life. He had been employed in farm work. at various locations.
Survivors include two brothers, William and Hubert Beutel, both of Sanborn; three sisters, Mrs. Edwin Chaal (sic), Wilson, and Mrs. Emil Walck and Mrs. Adolph DeVantier, both of Niagara Falls.

Edwin D. Walck, 94, a longtime farmer, died Monday (Dec. 17, 2001) in CrestWood Health Care Center after a brief illness. Walck was born in Wheatfield and attended St. James School in Bergholz. Before becoming a farmer, he worked as a machinist in Niagara Falls for 14 years. Most of his working years were spent operating farms in the Town of Niagara, Pendleton and Cambria. Among cash crops he harvested were wheat, corn, oats and hay. Walck moved to the health care facility three years from his home in Cambria. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Sanborn, where he served as an elder and trustee. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau and Niagara County Extension. He and his wife of 59 years, Frances Haseley Walck, enjoyed spending winters in Florida. She died in 1994. Walck also had enjoyed hunting on land he owned in northern Pennsylvania. Survivors include two sons, Donald of Pendleton and Darrell of Cambria; a daughter, Suzanne Milleville of Wheatfield; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday in St. Peter's Church, Walmore Road, Sanborn. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

A native of Wheatfield, Pfohl was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Walmore, where he had served on various committees and as president, elder and trustee. He worked for 10 years at the former Sales Book County, now Moore Business Forms, and then for 32 years as a stationary engineer at the Nabisco plant in Niagara Falls until he retired in 1974. Pfohl was a member of the Sanbornites Senior Citizens. His wife, Anna Mueller Pfohl, died in 1984. Wallace "Wally" Pfohl, 82, who operated the family farm on Lockport Road and worked on it even after his retirement, died Thursday (Oct. 5, 2000) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a brief illness.
He was a lifelong resident of Wheatfield.
Pfohl was a member of the Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service, Niagara County Farm Bureau, and had served on the Agricultural Districting Advisory Committee. In addition, he was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where he served as trustee and on various project committees.
He played trumpet with bands, including the Bergholz German Band, with whom he traveled with to Europe, Canada and through the U.S.
Pfohl enjoyed cars, and often was seen driving his 1948 General Motors Corporation truck around town, as well as in parades.
His wife, the former Edna Schimschack, died in 1993.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Walck; a foster son, Harry Dickenson; a sister, Erna Stenzel of North Tonawanda; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Robert W. Werth, age 73, of Town of Niagara, was called to his heavenly home on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester after a lengthy illness. Born in the Town of Wheatfield, NY on March 13, 1934 to the late Edwin and Hulda (Pfuhl) Werth. He was a life long member of St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church in Walmore, where he was President of the Church Council. Bob played in several local marching bands including the American Legion, Sanborn Fire Co., and the Bergholz German Band. His hobbies and interests included fishing, traveling with the Bergholz German Band and getting together with friends to play dominos and euchre. Bob is a U.S. military veteran, member of the American Legion, Town of Niagara Lions Club and the Sanborn Lions Club. He was employed at the former Marine Midland Bank in Sanborn (sic) and was later employed as an accountant at the N.F. Air Force Base retiring in 1986. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Dolores (Krull) Werth; a son, Michael Werth of Ft. RANSOMVILLE - A 20-year-old nurse's aide, en route to work at Ransomville General Hospital, was killed Tuesday when the car in which she was riding slammed into a telephone pole in Balmer Road near here. Miss Betty Helen Werth, 20, of 2683 Lockport Rd., Sanborn, was pronounced dead on arrival at Ransomville General Hospital. She suffered internal injuries, a fractured skull and broken neck.
The driver, John W. Sagar. 19, of 1788 Balmer Rd., Ransomville, was charged by sheriff's deputies with driving at a speed not reasonable or prudent. He was treated for shock at the hospital. This was the 10th traffic fatality in county roads this year compared to 21, this time last year.

Asked For Ride
Authorities said Miss Werth had asked Sagar for a ride to work because she had car trouble. Deputies Clayton Schultz, Louis Reale and Sgt. James Faery said Sagar told them he was driving east in Balmer Road and was late for work. He is an orderly at the Ransomville hospital. The report said Sagar was driving 70 miles an hour when he stepped on the brakes to a slow down. The car went out of control, careened across the road, struck the utility pole and ended up in a plowed field. The mishap occurred about 3:05 p.m.
Miss Werth was a graduate of St. Peter's elementary day school and Niagara Wheatfield Central High School.

Miss Werth's survivors include her parents, Edwin and Hulda Werth, 2683 Lockport Road, Sanborn. and a brother, Robert Werth, Niagara Falls. WHEATFIELD - Alice B. (Retzlaff) Walck, age 87, of Wheatfield, was called peacefully to her heavenly home, to be with her Lord and Savior on October 16, 2012 at her residence. Born in the Town of Wheatfield, NY, on July 22, 2012, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Lily (Pfuhl) Retzlaff. Alice attended St. Peter's Lutheran School in Walmore and was a 1943 graduate of LaSalle High School. She was employed at the former Bell Aircraft and later at the Carborundum Company - Bonded Abrasives division in Niagara Falls, until her retirement in 1983. Alice was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church, Wheatfield, where she was with the St. Peter's Quilters. She was also a member of the Ransomville Seniors and enjoyed gardening, flowers and traveling. WHEATFIELD - Willis S. Retzlaff, who served as town assessor for 27 years and was active in community and church affairs, died of a heart attack Saturday in his home. He was 78.
Mr. Retzlaff was born in Wheatfield and attended local schools. He served in the Air Force and was a member of Wheatfield Post 1451, American Legion.
He was a lifelong farmer and a skilled carpenter who built several homes in the area.
He was town assessor from 1972 to 1999 and the following year was appointed to the Zoning Board of Appeals. He had been president of the Niagara County Assessors Association and an officer of the New York State Assessors Association.
Mr. Retzlaff was an active member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he served as president, elder and financial secretary. At the time of his death, he was chairman of the cemetery committee.
He was a charter member and past president of the Wheatfield Lions Club and was serving as treasurer at the time of his death.
He was named Lion of the Year in 1991 and won two other Lions awards: the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award in 1994 and the Robert Uplinger Distinguished Service Award in 1998.
He was a charter member of the Wheatfield Republican Club; member and past president of the Wheatfield Business Association; treasurer of the Wheatfield Family Picnic Committee; a former member of the Bergholz German Band; a member of the town Historical Society; and a volunteer for Kids Voting.
He enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, the former Lois Hassan; a daughter, Debra Sheehan of Bergholz; a son, Randall of Wheatfield; a sister, Alice Walck of Sanborn; a brother, Kenneth of Wheatfield; and six grandchildren-.

Willis Sherman Retzlaff

Willis Sherman Retzlaff was born on June 7,1927 to Arthur and Lily (Pfuhl) Retzlaff. He was baptized on June 19, 1927 and confirmed on April 14, 1940. Willis was united in marriage to Lois Hassan on September 8, 1951. They were blessed with two children, Debra and Randall.
Willis was a life long member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church where he served as President of the Congregation, financial secretary, Elder and presently as Chairman of the Cemetery Committee.
Willis farmed for many years then went into carpentry and built many homes in the area. He was elected Assessor for the Town of Wheatfield and served in that capacity for 27 years, retiring in 1999.
He was a charter member, past President and currently served as Treasurer of the Wheatfield Lions Club. He was named Lion of the year in 1991, received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award in 1994 and the Robert Uplinger Distinguished Service Award in 1998. Bernhard "Bernie" Emil Walck, 87, born April 14, 1922 in Wheatfield, NY to Emil Frederick Walck and Esther Natalie Beutel, passed away July 11, 2009 in the care of his family members at his daughter, Sharon's home in Green Cove Springs, FL. He grew up in the Niagara Falls area. He graduated from Capital University and Trinity Seminary in Columbus, OH. Bernhard served churches in the New York, Ontario, Canada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Montana and California. During his stay in Montana, he also served as civilian chaplain to the United States Air Force radar base at Opheim, MT. Bernhard was married to Florence Evelyn Pepper in 1943. This union lasted for fifty two years. Four children were born to this union, Sharon, Cassandra, Deborah and Rebekah. Since his retirement, Bernhard has been a volunteer chaplain at the hospital in Orange Park, Florida, Homewood Village in The Villages and served as "Elder of Heart" at Leesburg Assembly of God. During his stay in Florida, Bernhard renewed his acquaintance with a former parishioner, Allie Taylor Coombes. This led to their marriage on April, 19, 1998 at the Leesburg First Assembly of God where they held their membership for years. Bernhard is survived by his wife, Allie; children, Sharon Lloyd of Green Cove Springs, Florida, Cassandra Casto of Mansfield, Ohio, Deborah Williams of Delaware, Ohio, Rebekah Strickland of Greensboro, North Carolina; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Edna Rose Agatha DeVantier Walck, age 98 of Wheatfield, NY, was called peacefully to her heavenly home, on August 25, 2021. Born in the Town of Niagara, NY on October 17, 1922; daughter of the late Adolph and Hilda (Beutel) DeVantier. A life long member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Sanborn, where she was currently the oldest member. Edna was active with St. Peter's Senior Citizens, the Cradle Roll, and quilter's group. She was also active with Daus House, in Bergholz as a curator for visitors. Edna and her late husband, Hugo C. Walck, were united in marriage on June 7, 1947. He passed on October 3, 1994. They maintained a home in Florida for many years, and welcomed family and friends to stay there. Hugo and Edna traveled extensively in Europe, the Pacific Islands, Australia, and caravanned cross country, into the Canadian Rockies, up to Alaska. Edna and her sister Lillian, enjoyed traveling to the Holy Land. She enjoyed baseball, and was a fan of the Toronto Blue Jays, and the Atlanta Braves. Edna was an accomplished horse back rider, and naturally musically gifted in playing the piano and organ. Earlier in life, Edna was employed at Moore Business Forms in the 1950's, Biagios Quality Inn located in Niagara Falls, as the head housekeeper, and then worked at Hotel Niagara when John's Restaurant took it over. Survivors include her loving daughters, Brenda and Linda, and their husbands, Joel Jaffe and Michael Rozyczko; a grandson, Michael Rozyczko; special niece, Judy Baribeau; special nephews, Grant, Glenn and Mark DuBois; many other nieces and nephews; and a great nephew, Harley. Edna was also preceded in death by her brother, Bert DeVantier; and sister, Lillian DuBois.Friends are invited to join with her family, for services to be held on Wednesday, September 1, at 2:00 p.m. in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 6168 Walmore Road, Sanborn, NY 14132, with the Rev. TOWN OF NIAGARA - Bert A. DeVantier, 64, of Lockport Road, died Sunday (May 7,1995) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston. He was born Feb. 6, 1931, in the Town of Niagara, the son of Adolph and Hilda (Beutel) DeVantier. He married Janice M. Kriedemann on Sept. 3, 1955. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. She was a graduate of Wilson High School and she married Gale C. Pasquarette on November 22, 1958. They have resided in Cambria since 1969. Ruth was a very active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wilson. She enjoyed her workouts and exercising at the Lockport Athletic and Fitness Club.
She is survived by her husband, Gale; a son, Steve (Karen) Pasquarette of Honeoye Falls, NY; her grandchildren, Ryan, Miranda, Amy, and Aiden; and a great-grandchild, Spencer. She was predeceased by a son, Andrew Pasquarette; a brother, Elton Schaal; and two sisters, Dolores Schaal and Helen Wollaber.

Elton Schaal of Wilson passed away May 18, 2015 at the age of 85. Son of the late Edwin and Agathe Schaal and husband to the late Elizabeth (Morton) and brother to the late Helen Wollaber and Dolores Eckler. Elton was a local farmer and worked for Harrison Radiator. A United States Army Veteran who served during the Korean War. Elton was a devoted Christian and lifetime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wilson, NY.

He had a deep love for the land and his farm animals. He enjoyed selling his crops at the Niagara Falls and North Tonawanda City Markets. Most of all, he loved being at home and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his children, Dorothy (George) Preston of Ithaca NY, Nancy Simmons of Wilson, NY, Gloria (Thomas) Ierardi of Skaneateles NY; his sister, Ruth (Gale) Pasquarette; and his six grandchildren, Geoffrey and Emma Preston, Kiersten and Benjamin Simmons, Maria and Alex Ierardi.

John W. Beutel, 66, of the Town of Tonawanda, died Friday (Sept. 24, 1999) in Kenmore Mercy Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born in Sanborn, he attended Trott Vocational High School in Niagara Falls. Beutel served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He was stationed in Germany and achieved the rank of corporal before his discharge.
Before and after his military service, he worked in the family business, William Beutel and Sons, a well drilling business. He worked there until 1964 when he went to work at the General Motors Chevrolet Engine Plant in the Town of Tonawanda. He worked there for 33 years as a repairman, retiring in 1997.
In 1964, he married Patricia Ann Hickey. They settled in Tonawanda, where they were members of St. Amelia's Roman Catholic Church. Beutel was active in the parish's annual Catholic Charities Drive and was a past treasurer of the Tonawanda Boy Scout Troop 229.
He also was a member of the Western New York Gas and Steam Engine Association; the Western New York Two-Cylinder Club, the Western New York Railway Historical Society; and the Niagara Frontier Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society.
Prayers will be said at 8:30 A.M. Monday in the D. Lawrence Ginnane Funeral Home, 3215 Delaware Ave., Kenmore, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 in St. Amelia's Church, 2999 Eggert Road, Town of Tonawanda. Entombment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda

Herman David Beutel, 69, of Sanborn, NY passed away on Monday June 5th, 2006 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, Niagara County, NY, after a brave battle with lung cancer.
He was born in Sanborn, NY, on April 10, 1937, to William and Clara [ Bartel ] Beutel. Mr. Beutel attended St. Andrews School, in Pekin; Wilson High School, Trott Vocational High School, in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, and Bailey Technical School, in St. Louis, MO. He worked with his father and brother John in the family business, William Beutel and Sons Well Drilling. He also worked as a diesel mechanic for Brockway Trucks; Massaro Detroit Diesel; Niagara Diesel and Niagara Falls Coach Lines, prior to retiring on April 1, 1999.
Mr. Beutel served in the United States Army from August 16, 1960 to August 9, 1962. Most of his active duty was in Okinawa, Japan. He received and honorable discharge and completed six years in the reserve duty locally. On August 18, 1978 he married the former Carol [ Reid ] Morgan, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, in Sanborn, NY. His hobbies included restoring old tractors and traveling. He traveled extensively with his wife Carol to all fifty States, seven Canadian Provinces, the Caribbean area and eight countries in Europe.
He was a lifetime member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church - Walmore, Sanborn, NY,a member of the Operating Engineers Local 17, Sanborn Area Historical Society and the Sanbornite Seniors.
Surviving is his wife Carol, sister Hilda Snyder, an aunt Gladys Beutel, of Sanborn; step sons, John Reid Morgan, of Lake Orion, MI; David Justin [ Ivy ] Morgan;granddaughter Kylie Morgan, all of Parma Heights OH; sisters in law Pat [ late John ] Beutel, Tonawanda, Erie County, NY; Ellen Reid, of Belmar, NJ; Marie [ Col. Larry ] Grundhauser, CO Springs, CO, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rev. A funeral for Roger A. Walck, 70, of the Town of Niagara, a longtime Harrison Radiator employee, will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6169 Walmore Road, Sanborn. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Walck died Wednesday (Sept. 25, 2002) at his Town of Niagara home.
He was employed at Harrison Radiator Division of General Motors Corp. in Lockport for 31 years, the last 15 years as a forklift operator, retiring in 1987. He was a part-time farmer and built lawn furniture and picnic tables at his residence.
He served in the Air Force Reserve for three years. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Walck was a member of Wheatfield Post, American Legion.
He was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church. He also was a member of Local 686, United Auto Workers, at Harrison.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Darlene; two sons, Brian R. and Bruce M., both of the Town of Niagara; a daughter, Cindy Y. Engle of Lewiston; his mother, Agnes of Wheatfield; a sister, Gloria Hildebrandt of Cambria; and five grandchildren
Services will be at 11 A.M. Wednesday in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6168 Walmore Road, Wheatfield.

NORTH TONAWANDA, Ivan T. Walck, 41, of 1705 Third Ave., died Saturday (Feb. 4, 1978) in Memorial Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
He was a lifelong resident of the Towns of Wheatfield and Niagara, a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, and of the International Union of' Operating Engineers, Local 463.
For 10 years he was self-employed, operating Walck's Trenching and was later employed by the John J. Gross Plumbing and Heating Co.
He is survived by a son, Randy; a daughter, Terri; his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Theodore J. Walck of Wheatfield; two brothers, Roger A. Walck of the Town of Niagara and Duane V. Walck of Cuba, N.Y.; and a sister, Mrs. Karl (Gloria) Hildebrandt of Sanborn.
The family will receive friends at the Fretthold Funeral Home Inc., 1241 Oliver St. today and Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will he held in St. Peter Lutheran Church Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Paul Wittenberg officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery.

BATAVIA - Duane V. Walck, 47, of Clinton Street, formerly of Niagara Falls, died Wednesday (Oct. 23, 1991) in Highland Hospital, Rochester, after a brief illness. He was the son of the late Theodore J. Walck, who died in 1983, and was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Sanborn. He is survived by his mother, Agnes V. Walck of Niagara Falls; a brother, Roger A. Walck of Niagara Falls; a sister, Gloria Hildebrandt of Sanborn; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Ivan Walck, who died in 1978.

Larry enjoyed the outdoors and liked fishing in Lake Ontario and Quebec, Canada, and going deer hunting at his camp in Friendship, New York. He was a lifelong member of St Peter’s Lutheran Church where he often served as an usher and helped keep attendance records for both the church and Sunday school. He attended St. Peter’s Lutheran school and was a graduate of the Niagara Wheatfield class of 1977. After graduation, Harry had worked at various local businesses as well as helping on the family farm.Harry loved being a statistician for his Niagara Wheatfield sports teams and stayed in touch with many of the players and coaches. Harry enjoyed attending local sporting events and most Saturdays during the football season you would find him at the NW football field watching his Falcons. Being able to attend these events was made possible with the help of his good friend Brian Hapeman. Harry also enjoyed being a volunteer statistician and scorekeeper for the Lutheran Basketball League for over 45 years, it was his life.Harry often spoke about his love for music, especially German and Polka music. Harry had been a member of the Bergholz German Band and the American Legion Sikora Post Band of North Tonawanda where he played the drums for many years. Harry also took pride in participating in the Western New York Challenger Sports League’s bowling division which he attended for over 10 years.Service will be held on Tuesday (January 24) at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. FT. LAUDERDALE FL — Michael R. Werth, age 51, died unexpectedly in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, at Holy Cross Hospital on March 21, 2013. He was the son of Dolores (Krul) Werth and the late Robert Werth.

He graduated from Niagara Wheatfield, attended Community College and University of Buffalo. He worked as a registered nurse in several hospitals in Florida and worked at Mount St. Mary's before he moved to Florida. He took pride in growing orchids in his backyard, enjoyed sports, tennis and basketball.

He leaves behind a sister, Cheryl Werth/Troy Harrison; several uncles and cousins, and his beloved pet, Bella.

There will be a private memorial service for him at a later date.

Obituary of Charles Wollaber

Charles D. Wollaber passed away Friday October 6, 2017. Born in North Tonawanda on April 9, 1966, he was the son of the late Helen Schaal Wollaber and the late Burnette Wollaber. Charles owned and operated Wollaber Electric. He is currently the President of the Niagara County Motorcycle Club. Charles also enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and his dog Hurricane.

Beside his stepmother Doris, Charles is survived by his wife of 20 years, Marcia (nee Milstead) Wollaber, his sister Carol (Bob) Lamb; brother in law of Gary, Mark, Sue and the late David Milstead. He is also survived by his niece, Arianna Lamb and nephews, Harley and Cody Milstead and several other nieces and nephews. Charles is also predeceased by his mother and father in law Lorraine and Bud Milstead.

WILSON - Andrew J. Pasquarette, 32, of West Lake Road, died Tuesday (Nov. 19, 1996) at home.
He was born Nov 14, 1964, in Clarion, Pa., the son of Gale C. and Ruth M. (Schaal) Pasquarette of Lockport.
The 1982 Wilson Central High School graduate had lived in Cambria and Wilson for most of his life.
On June 6, 1987, he married Susan Johannes in St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Mr. Pasquarette worked as a model-maker for the Moore Research Center on Grand Island for the past seven years. He also had his New York State Tool and Die Journeyman's Certificate. At the time of his death, he was attending Niagara County Community College and studying for a mechanical technicians degree. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
He was active in recreational sports, including volleyball, and softball. He enjoyed bicycling and riding his motorcycles. In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by two daughters, Amy Pasquarette and Beth Pasquarette, both of Wilson: a brother, Stephen Pasquarette of Rochester; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Hardison Funeral Home, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville. The Rev. Ronald Haefner will conduct services at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 220 Young St.

Snyder worked at Bakery Savage Co. in Buffalo and at Walck Brothers Trucking Co. in Lockport as a diesel mechanic. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Besides his parents, he is survived by five sisters, Candace Hoolihan, Christine Snyder and Linda Karp, all of Lockport. Cheryl Danielewicz of Sanborn and Barbara Snyder of Tonopah; Ariz.; a brother, Matthew Snyder of Ransomville; his grandparents William and Clara Beutel of Sanborn and Naomi Tooley of Sykeville.
