    WALCK RITES HELD
    Body of Bergholtz Man Borne to Grave by Grandchildren BERGOLTZ, Dec. 27. - Funeral services for John Walck, who died suddenly Saturday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Helena Zimmerman, at Niagara street, were held Tuesday afternoon from the home of Mrs. Zimmerman at 2 o'clock and at 2:30 from St. James church on Rohr Street. The Rev. Otto Bruss officiated.
    Mr. Walck is survived by five daughters, Mrs. August D. Mueller, Mrs. Apolonia (sic) Blumreich, of Niagara Falls, Amalia (sic) Pfuhl, of Walmore. and Mrs. Helena Zimmerman and Mrs. Lydia DeVantier, of this village, and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. The deceased was a retired farmer and had resided in this vicinity all his life. His two sons, John Walck and Christ (sic) Walck, died a number of years ago. Burial was in St. James cemetery. The bearers were all grandchildren: Edward and Arthur Zimmerman, Theodore and Edwin Walck, Edward Mueller and A. Pfuhl.

    BERGHOLTZ. N. Y.-Mrs. Helen
    Zimmerman, 70 years old, one of the
    best known and most highly respected
    residents of this community,
    died yesterday afternoon at the
    family home. Niagara road, after
    a period of ill health extending over
    a year.
    Mrs. Zimmerman was born in
    Bergholtz. a daughter of the late
    John and Wilhelmina Walck, and
    had resided here alf her life. She
    was a member of St. James Lutheran
    church and until ill health
    prevented was active In the Ladies'
    Aid society and other church organizations.
    Funeral services will be held tomorrow
    afternoon at 2:30 o'clock
    from the family home to St.
    James' Lutheran church, where services
    will be held at 3 o'clock. The
    Rev. Otto Bruss will officiate. Interment
    will be in St. James' cemetery.
    Mrs. Zimmerman Is survived by
    two daughters and four sons, Edward,
    John and Rudolph, of Bergholtz,
    Arthur and Lydta. of Niagara
    Falls, and Helen, of Fort Lauderdale,
    Florida; two nieces, Alice and
    Jean; one nephew, Arthur Zimmerman.

    sisters, Mrs. Albertine Mueller and
    Mrs. Edward Blumreich. of Niagara

    Mrs. Albertine Mueller Dies Suddenly at 80
    Mrs. Albertine Mueller, 80, died suddenly yesterday at the home of her son. Edward Mueller. 9660 Cayuga Dr. Born in the Town of Wheatfield, Mrs. Mueller had lived in this city for the last 60 years. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church,. Bergholtz, and its Ladies Aid and Missionary Societies. She was the wife of the late August D. Mueller, a carpenter and contractor in this city for many years, who died in 1937. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Louis C. Heuer, Yorkville, IL.; a son, Edward Mueller, six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Albert DeVantler, Wheatfield, and Mrs. Lona Blumreich, this city, Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the home of the son, Edward, and Vat 2:30 o'clock at St. James' Church, Bergholtz. The Rev. Otto Bruss will officiate. Interment will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery.

    BERGOLTZ, Mar. 13. - The passing of Christian Walck, 45 years old, whose funeral was held last Saturday afternoon, removes a well (known) resident of Niagara county. He lived and labored in this vicinity all his life. He was failing in health last week and was removed to the Memorial hospital at Niagara Falls. N. Y., where he died of influenza and heart failure. The services for Mr. Walck were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the family home and at 2:30 at the St, Jacob's church, the Rev. Otto Bruss officiating. Burial was in the St. Jacob's cemetery, Niagara street. The floral tributes were many and beautiful. He is survived by his wife, Ida (nee Haseley), one daughter. Levina, five sisters, Mrs. Helena Zimmerman of Niagara street, Mrs. Edward Blumreich and Miss Lydia Walck of Niagara Falls, Mrs. Frederick Pfuhl of Sanborn, and Mrs. August D. Mueller of La Salle, and by his father, John Walck, of LaSalle.

Born in the Town of Wheatfield, she had lived in Niagara Falls for 60 years. She had been a housekeeper for Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lawrence for 40 years, retiring 15 years ago. Survivors include two brothers, Arthur Zimmerman of Lewiston, and Rudolph Zimmerman of Begholtz (sic), and two nieces and a nephew. Funeral services will be held Saturday, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Theodore Menter, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Bergholtz. Friends may call at the Otto Redanz Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Friday. Memorial contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church Memorial Fund will be acceptable as tribute, the family said.

    Mrs. Heuer was the widow of the Rev. Louis Heuer, who died Jan. 16, 1983. He was a Lutheran minister at. various churches for over 65 years. She was the mother of the late Rev. Bernard Heuer and sister of Edward Mueller, who died Oct. 19, 1989.
    Mrs. Heuer is survived by a daughter, Gertrude Kalk of Canton, OH; and seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Visiting hours are Saturday in Mars and at 1 p.m. Sunday at St. James Lutheran Church, 2437 Niagara Road, where services be held at 2 p.m. Sunday.
    Burial will be in St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery.

    WHEATFIELD - Edward M. Mueller, 87, of Cayuga Drive Extension, died Thursday (Oct. 19, 1989) in Mount St, Mary's Hospital, Town Of Lewiston.
    Mueller was a lifelong resident of Wheatfield.
    He was a former Wheatfield town justice and was employed at the National Grinding Wheel Co. for 35 years. Be was a 50 year member of the Co-op Fire Insurance Corp. of Bergholz and served as its president for a number of years, as well as on the board of directors.
    Mueller was actively involved with the Cataract Camera Club and was a recipient of many awards. He was an active member of St. James Lutheran Church, holding numerous offices over the years. After retirement he involved himself in the activities of the Retired Men's Service Club and especially enjoyed singing in its chorus. He was a member of the North German Historical Society. He was also first president of St. James Lutheran Church congregation.
    He was the husband of Edna (DeVantier) Mueller, who died in l984 and was father of the late Lowell Mueller.
    Mueller is survived by daughters, Audrey Walck of Sanborn and Marilyn Mueller of New Orleans; sons, Milton Mueller of Sanborn and Myron Mueller of North Tonawanda; and a sister, Whilimine (sic) Heuer of Ohio; nine ,grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

    Edwin D. Walck, 94, a longtime farmer, died Monday (Dec. 17, 2001) in CrestWood Health Care Center after a brief illness. Walck was born in Wheatfield and attended St. James School in Bergholz. Before becoming a farmer, he worked as a machinist in Niagara Falls for 14 years. Most of his working years were spent operating farms in the Town of Niagara, Pendleton and Cambria. Among cash crops he harvested were wheat, corn, oats and hay. Walck moved to the health care facility three years from his home in Cambria. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Sanborn, where he served as an elder and trustee. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau and Niagara County Extension. He and his wife of 59 years, Frances Haseley Walck, enjoyed spending winters in Florida. She died in 1994. Walck also had enjoyed hunting on land he owned in northern Pennsylvania. Survivors include two sons, Donald of Pendleton and Darrell of Cambria; a daughter, Suzanne Milleville of Wheatfield; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday in St. Peter's Church, Walmore Road, Sanborn. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was an active member at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Sanborn, serving as Sunday School teacher, working with the young people and served on the church council as secretary and president. As chairperson of St. Peter's Archive Committee, she assisted in translating the church's records from the original German script, into English. Mrs. Walck was an accomplished porcelain artist, an officer in the Towpath China Painters Club, and World Organization of China Painters. Pictures of a number of her paintings were published in the organization's publication. Mrs. Walck was a member in the Niagara Women's Club, member of the German Historical Society, Sanborn Area Historical Society, and charter member of Artpark & Company. Audrey's greatest joy was the time spent with her children and grandchildren.     Services for Milton H. Mueller of Sanborn, an industrial arts teacher, were held Wednesday in St. James Lutheran Church, 2437 Niagara Road, Bergholz. Burial was in St. James Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of Wheatfield.
    Mr. Mueller died Saturday (March 6, 2004) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after suffering a heart attack at home. He was 71.
    He was born in Niagara Falls and attended St. James Lutheran School. He graduated from LaSalle High School in 1950 and from Buffalo State Teachers College in 1954.
    As a college student in the early 1950s, Mr. Mueller worked on the construction of the Niagara Power Project. He served with the Army from 1954 to 1956.
    Mr. Mueller began his teaching career in 1956 in the Lewiston-Porter Central School District. In 1959 he transferred to Niagara-Wheatfield Central School District, where he taught for 31 years before retiring.
    He was a longtime member of St. James Lutheran Church, where he was an elder. Mr. Mueller and his wife, Fern, traveled to Russia and China as missionaries, distributing Bibles. He was the television cameraman for the Niagara Ministries television program "Digging In," which is shown throughout the United States and Canada.
    He is survived by his wife of 48 years, the former Fern S. Channell; two sons, Jeffery of Fargo, ND, and Douglas of Niagara Falls; a daughter, Deborah Bennion of Macomb, Mich.; a brother, Myron of North Tonawanda; two sisters, Audry Walck of Sanborn and Marilyn Mueller of New Orleans; and 10 grandchildren

    Myron L. Mueller, age 73, of Wheatfield, was called to his heavenly home to be with our Lord and Savior, on Monday, April 6, 2009 at his residence. Born in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY on January 1, 1936 to the late Edward and Edna (DeVantier) Mueller. He was a lifelong member of St. James Ev. Lutheran Church in Bergholz, where he held various positions over the years and enjoyed singing in the choir. Myron served in the National Guard and retired as a carpenter superintendent with Scrufari Construction Company, was a 50 year member of the Buffalo Carpenters Union and was project manager, working on the Wheatfield recreation and water department buildings and was very proud of his accomplishments. Myron enjoyed bowling at the Manor II Lanes on Monday mornings and Wednesday afternoons, played bingo, traveled many places along the coast - Maine to the Carolina's, visiting lighthouses, faithfully kept a weather journal and had an A-frame at Rushford Lake, where his family vacationed during the summer months. Hobbies included woodworking, gardening, painting, puzzles, fishing and golfing. Myron especially enjoyed being with his family and watching his grandchildren play baseball, and would have an Easter Egg hunt at his house for the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with pizza for lunch.Survivors include his beloved wife, Marlene (Goater) Mueller.     A funeral for Roger A. Walck, 70, of the Town of Niagara, a longtime Harrison Radiator employee, will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6169 Walmore Road, Sanborn. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
    Walck died Wednesday (Sept. 25, 2002) at his Town of Niagara home.
    He was employed at Harrison Radiator Division of General Motors Corp. in Lockport for 31 years, the last 15 years as a forklift operator, retiring in 1987. He was a part-time farmer and built lawn furniture and picnic tables at his residence.
    He served in the Air Force Reserve for three years. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

    WHEATFIELD - Alice B. (Retzlaff) Walck, age 87, of Wheatfield, was called peacefully to her heavenly home, to be with her Lord and Savior on October 16, 2012 at her residence. Born in the Town of Wheatfield, NY, on July 22, 2012, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Lily (Pfuhl) Retzlaff. Alice attended St. Peter's Lutheran School in Walmore and was a 1943 graduate of LaSalle High School. She was employed at the former Bell Aircraft and later at the Carborundum Company - Bonded Abrasives division in Niagara Falls, until her retirement in 1983. Alice was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church, Wheatfield, where she was with the St. Peter's Quilters. She was also a member of the Ransomville Seniors and enjoyed gardening, flowers and traveling. Survivors include her brother, Kenneth (Dianne) Retzlaff of Wheatfield; sister-in-law, Lois Retzlaff; eight nieces and nephews, Debra (Ted) Sheehan, Brian (Sandra) Retzlaff, Gary Retzlaff, Randy Retzlaff, Sandra (Steven) Lang, Carol (Leonard) Binns, David (Allison) Retzlaff and Dale (Lisa) Retzlaff; twenty great-nieces and nephews and one great-great-nephew. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Walck, on December 1, 1994. They were united in marriage on February 5, 1972. Also predeceased by a brother, Willis Retzlaff.     WHEATFIELD - Willis S. Retzlaff, who served as town assessor for 27 years and was active in community and church affairs, died of a heart attack Saturday in his home. He was 78.
    Mr. Retzlaff was born in Wheatfield and attended local schools. He served in the Air Force and was a member of Wheatfield Post 1451, American Legion.
    He was a lifelong farmer and a skilled carpenter who built several homes in the area.
    He was town assessor from 1972 to 1999 and the following year was appointed to the Zoning Board of Appeals. He had been president of the Niagara County Assessors Association and an officer of the New York State Assessors Association.
    Mr. Retzlaff was an active member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he served as president, elder and financial secretary. At the time of his death, he was chairman of the cemetery committee.
    He was a charter member and past president of the Wheatfield Lions Club and was serving as treasurer at the time of his death.
    He was named Lion of the Year in 1991 and won two other Lions awards: the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award in 1994 and the Robert Uplinger Distinguished Service Award in 1998.
    He was a charter member of the Wheatfield Republican Club; member and past president of the Wheatfield Business Association; treasurer of the Wheatfield Family Picnic Committee; a former member of the Bergholz German Band; a member of the town Historical Society; and a volunteer for Kids Voting.
    He enjoyed gardening.
    Survivors include his wife of 53 years, the former Lois Hassan; a daughter, Debra Sheehan of Bergholz; a son, Randall of Wheatfield; a sister, Alice Walck of Sanborn; a brother, Kenneth of Wheatfield; and six grandchildren-.
    Services will be at 11 A.M. Wednesday in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore Road. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

    Willis Sherman Retzlaff

    Willis Sherman Retzlaff was born on June 7,1927 to Arthur and Lily (Pfuhl) Retzlaff. He was baptized on June 19, 1927 and confirmed on April 14, 1940. Willis was united in marriage to Lois Hassan on September 8, 1951. They were blessed with two children, Debra and Randall.
    Willis was a life long member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church where he served as President of the Congregation, financial secretary, Elder and presently as Chairman of the Cemetery Committee.
    Willis farmed for many years then went into carpentry and built many homes in the area. He was elected Assessor for the Town of Wheatfield and served in that capacity for 27 years, retiring in 1999.
    He was a charter member, past President and currently served as Treasurer of the Wheatfield Lions Club. He was named Lion of the year in 1991, received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award in 1994 and the Robert Uplinger Distinguished Service Award in 1998. Ken enjoyed golfing, hunting, and spending time at the cabin.Survivors include his loving wife; six children, Brian (Sandra) Retzlaff, Gary Retzlaff, Sandra (Steven) Lange, Carol (Leonard) Binns, David (Allison) Retzlaff, Dale (Lisa) Retzlaff; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
