Jan. 3 lapsed into a coma and fell asleep Sun. morning Jan 7 (at) 3:25. Survivors: 3 sons, Alton and Wm. of Sanborn, Arnold of Bergholz; 2 daughters, Mrs. Ben Wendt Sr. of Sanborn and Mrs. Edna Walck of Median; 25 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Sanborn. June 10. - Hanging to a beam in his barn, by a piece of clothesline, the body of William Beutel was found about two o'clock yesterday afternoon by the dead man's youngest son, and when the nearest neighbors - summoned by tho terrified youngster - had arrived, the body was still warm, but all attempts at resuscitation failed. Beutel was about 45 years old and resided with his family, on the Lockport road, near Walmore. He had been confined in the Buffalo State hospital on two different occasions, but since his return home two years ago, his mental condition has appeared normal. Mrs. Beutel and her oldest son were in Niagara Falls when the deed was committed. Deceased is survived by his wife and four sons - Edward, Rudolph, Walter, and Erwin - all of the town of Lewiston; one brother, John Beutel of Cambria, and one sister, Mrs. William Wendt of Sanborn, He was a lifelong resident of this township and was a member of the Walmore Lutheran church.

SANBORN, May 10 - The funeral of Fred. A. Fahrnwald, 77, Lockport road, who died on Friday at Mt. St. Mary's hospital, Niagara Falls, was held Sunday at 2:30 pm. at the home and at 3 o'clock at St. Peter's church, Walmore. Besides his wife, Rose Haseley
Fahrnwald, he is survived bv a brother, Philip. Lockport road, and several nieces and nephews. The Rev. Martin Pempeit officiated and interment was in Walmore cemetery. The bearers included Clarence Kroening. Philip Kroening, Mervyn Haseley, Arthur Wendt, Marcus Haseley and Jonas Haseley. The flower bearers were Wilbert
Milleville, Herman Kroening, John Haseley, Glen Haseley, Edgar Kroening,
Donald Walck and Elton DeVantier. The funeral was one of the largest ever held In this community. Friends and relatives attended from Lockport, Buffalo, Niagara Falls and the Tonawandas. Mr. Fahrnwald was a son of the late Henrietta and August Fahrnwald and was born at Walmore. He lived for 22 years on the Joseph Shenk farm. Lockport road, and in 1915 he and his brother, Philip, and their wives, moved to the Barnum farm, Lockport road, where the family still resides.

Born in the Town of Niagara, he was the son of August and Henrietta Haseley Fahrnwald He owned and operated a farm at the Lockport Road address for 52 years. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore Road.
He is survived by his wife, the former Emma Haseley, and a nephew, Harvey Haseley, who resides at the Fahrnwald home.
He also is survived by several other nieces and nephews.

STRUCK BY CAR, FARMER KILLED NEAR THIS CITY
Arthur Wendt Suffers Fatal Injuries; Dies Before Hospital Is Reached.
Hit by an automobile while walking along the Saunders Settlement road at 9:45 p. m. yesterday, Arthur Wendt, farmer, 42 years old, was fatally injured. The automobile was driven by G. M. Krick, 1722 Whitney avenue. Krick told Coroner W. L. Draper, who investigated the accident, that he was driving west and that the glare from headlights of a car approaching in the opposite direction prevented him from seeing Wendt.
Wendt suffered fractures of the neck; skull, both legs and left arm. He was taken to Memorial hospital, but was dead when he arrived there. Wendt was married and leaves a wife and six children. He had lived practically all his life on the Saunders Settlement road, about midway between this city and Sanborn. Krick was not held after he had made his statement to Coroner Draper and Undersheriff Cowdrick.

Mrs. Laura Haseley
PENDLETON - Mrs. Laura Haseley, 81, of 4196 Lockport Rd., died Friday (Feb. 25, 1977) in Buffalo General Hospital after a long illness.
She was a native of the Town of Lewiston, and resided here for 57 years. She was a member of St. Peter's American Lutheran Church Women.
She was the wife of the late Louis F. Haseley who died in 1973. She is survived by two sons, Gordon of Lockport and the Rev. Louis C. Haseley of Valley Stream, N.Y.; four daughters, Lydia Haseley of Lockport, Mrs. Ihsan (Mildred) Hijazi of Beirut, Lebanon, Mabel Haseley of Chicago and Mrs. Wayne Ruth) Berger of Washington, D.C., and 16 grandchildren.
She was the mother of the late Arnold Haseley.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore, with the Rev. Paul F. Wittenberg officiating.
Burial will be in St Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Rhoney Funeral Home, Sanborn, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday.

Esther N. Walck Ex-Sanborn resident dies at 93
SANBORN - Esther N. (Beutel) Walck, formerly of Sanborn, died in Northgate Manor Nursing Home, Wheatfield, Tuesday (Aug. 11, 1987). She was 93. Mrs. Walck was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church and its Joy Circle group. She enjoyed sewing. She was the wife of the late Emil Walck. Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Al (Agnes) Turner and Ella Durkee of North Tonawanda, Minnie Zobrist of Las Vegas, Nev.; a son, the Rev. Bernhard Walck of Simi Valley, Calif., nine grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore Road, conducted by the Rev. Herbert R. Maxwell. Burial will be at St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery. Edward J. Beutel
SANBORN-Edward J. Beutel, 66, of Robinson Road, died at his home Thursday (Sept. 28, 1967).
Mr. Beutel had been employed for the last four years as a farm hand at the Adolph Moll farm, where he made his home.
Born in the Town of Wheatfield July 5, 1901, he was the son of John and Hulda Pfohl Beutel and had been a resident of the area throughout his life. He had been employed in farm work. at various locations.
Survivors include two brothers, William and Hubert Beutel, both of Sanborn; three sisters, Mrs. Edwin Chaal (sic), Wilson, and Mrs. Emil Walck and Mrs. Adolph DeVantier, both of Niagara Falls.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Pike and Jones Funeral Home, the Rev. Alfred W. Walck officiating. Burial will be in Wheatfield Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home, with the family present from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

William N. Beutel, 92, a retired well driller, died Thursday (Dec. 21, 1995) in his home on Tallman Street.
A native of Wheatfield, Beutel was a lifelong member and former trustee of St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Walmore.
He was a grain thresher from 1920 to 1950 in the towns of Wheatfield, Lewiston and Cambria. He then worked as a well driller throughout Niagara County from 1950 until he retired in 1965.
Survivors include his wife, the former Clara L. H. Bartel; two sons, John of the Town of Tonawanda and Herman; a daughter, Hilda Snyder; a sister, Agatha Schaal of Gasport; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Saturday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 6167 Walmore Road, Walmore. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery

CAMBRIA - Hubert T. Beutel, 85, of Shawnee Road, died Wednesday (Feb. 13, 1991) in Inter-Community Memorial Hospital, Newfane. Beutel was a former employee of the Niagara Falls Air Force Base. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda. well in Niagara County in 1927,
and in 1938 Mr. Wendt and his
brothers began operating the
Wendt Brothers Gas Co.
The company supplied
Sanborn residents with gas
until 1956, when the franchise
was sold to the Iroquois Gas
Co.
Mr. Wendt also worked for a
time at the Buffalo Pump Co.
as a machinist.

North Tonawanda, he was an
exempt member of. the Sanborn
Volunteer Fire Co.
He is survived by his widow
Grace Wendt; seven sons,

Mrs. Walck Dies After Long Illness
Mrs. Edna E. Walck of 232 West Center St., Medina, died today (March 27, 1963) at Medina Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
A native of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Walck had been a resident of Medina for the last 20 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Medina.
Surviving are her husband, Andrew Walck; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Margaret) Budnack of Newfane and Mrs. Edward (Edith) Sherbert of Hilton, N.Y., and five sons, Earl E. Walck of Medina, a Niagara Falls Gazette machinist, and Clarence A. and Delbert A. Walck, also of Medina, Lawrence A. Walck of Pekin and Herbert A. Walck of Newfane. Alton P. Wendt
LOCKPORT - Alton P. Wendt of the Briody Nursing Home, a former Town of Cambria highway superintendent, died Sunday (Nov. 7, 1982) after a lengthy illness. He was 78.
A native of Sanborn, Wendt also operated a dairy farm, worked for the Lehigh Valley Railroad and was a well driller. He had worked for the Town of Cambria Highway Department for nine years, retiring in 1970. Wendt was a member of the Exempt Firemen, Sanborn, the Lutheran Brotherhood and the Highway Superintendent's Association. He was the husband of the late Irene Wendt.
Survivors include sons Ronald and Joel, both of Lockport; three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Lorraine) Witkop and Mrs. Edgar (Jane) Kroening, both of Sanborn, and Mrs. Carl (Marlyn) Gross of North Tonawanda; brother Arnold of Niagara Falls; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Frozen food pioneer was active in church
BERGHOLZ-Arnold R. Wendt, 82, of Niagara Road, died Sunday (Aug. I, 1993) at his residence after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Sanborn on May 22, 1911, the son of William and Emelie (Beutel) Wendt. He was a pioneer in the frozen food industry of Western New York. For 25 years, he operated his own business, formerly known as Wendt Frozen Foods on Furman Boulevard in Buffalo.
Mr. Wendt then worked for the former S.M. Flickenger County, now known as the Scrivner County, in Buffalo as a buyer in the frozen food division. He retired in 1976.
He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Bergholz, where he had served as an elder for three terms. He also was a member of the Gideons International.
He married the former Louise Milleville on Nov. 29, 1934.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Wendt is survived by a son, the Rev. Jerald Wendt of Whitewater, Wise.; two daughters, Anne Louise Schreiner of Palus Verdi., Calif., and Jeannine Ary of Sao Paulo, Brazil; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was the brother of the late William Wendt, Laura Walck and Edna Walck.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road. The Rev. Cyril S. Hurnyak will conduct services at II a.m. Saturday in St. James Lutheran É (sic).

SANBORN - Edwin W. Beutel, 74, of 2427 Lockport Road, was pronounced dead on arrival today (July 9, 1974) in Memorial Medical Center, Niagara Falls, after an apparent heart attack at home.
He was a lifelong resident of the Town of Wheatfield, residing at the same address all his life. He had been employed at the Kimberly Clark Corp. as a machine operator where he had worked for over 30 years prior to retiring in 1965.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Beutel; seven sons, the Rev. Eugene Beutel of Neptune, N.J., Allen Beutel of San Diego, Calif., Kenneth Beutel of Sanborn, the Rev. LeRoy Beutel of Baltimore, Md., James Beutel and Edwin Beutel Jr., both of Sanborn, the Rev. Sanborn - Rudolph A. Beutel, 58, of 2381 Lockport Road, a 30-year worker at Kimberly-Clark Corp, Niagara Falls, where he was employed as a machine operator until retiring three years ago, died today(Sept. 28, 1961) after being stricken with a heart attack in Buffalo.
He was pronounced dead on arrival at Edward J. Meyer Memorial Hospital where he was taken by ambulance.
A lifelong resident of this community, where he was born on Feb 20, 1903, Mr. Beutel was a son of the late William and Amelia Retzlaff Beutel. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore.
Surviving are his widow, Louise Mueller Beutel; two sons, Leonard H. Beutel and James Morgan, both of this community; a daughter Mrs. LaVern (Ruth) Haseley, Niagara Falls; three brothers, Edwin, Irwin and Walter Beutel, all of Sanborn and eight grandchildren.

He was employed by the Kimberly Clark Corp. in Niagara Falls for 32 years and was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore. LOCKPORT - Lockport police said a propane heater apparently was to blame for an explosion and fire in a camping trailer that killed a Florida man early Tuesday at 646 Niagara St. County Coroner Kenneth Lederhouse pronounced Clarence Miller, 82, of Ocala, Fla., dead at the scene of the 5: 15 a.m. fire. Police said the trailer was parked behind the house of Miller's son, Richard, with two 35 pound propane cylinders next to it. Christopher Molisani of Cambria told police be was all his way to work when he saw the fire and checked the trailer for occupants, only to find the door locked, Molisani then woke up Richard Miller and his wife to call the fire department. Molisani told Officer Edward Ott he went back to the trailer and broke a window, A small explosion occurred, he said. Detective Robert LaForest said the explosion apparently occurred when the propane cylinders outside the trailer were heated by the fire inside the trailer. Lederhouse said results of an autopsy performed Tuesday afternoon at the Erie County Medical Center should be received today. Foul play was ruled out, he said. "He died from the heat and the explosion itself." Lederhouse said.

SANBORN - Mrs. Minnie Kroening, 79, of 3056 Lockport Road died Wednesday (Jan. 3, 1979) in Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
A lifelong resident of Sanborn, she was a longtime member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore and a member of the American Lutheran Church Woman of St. Peter's. She was predeceased by her husband Philip W. Kroening, who died in 1972.

Funeral services were held in Trinity church, Loyal, on Nov. 6, and burial services were conducted from Immanuel church, Cedarburg, WI., on Nov. 7. Pastor Pfohl was born in Walmore, NY.., on March 24, 1904. He received his education at Martin Luther Seminary, Buffalo, Erie County, NY.., and was ordained on June 24, 1928. Louis A. Pfohl, 91, of Lockport Road, died on Wednesday (April 19, 2000) after being stricken ill at home with an apparent heart attack.
He was born Jun 28, 1908 in Sanborn, the son of John and Eleonore (Fahrnwald) Pfohl.
Mr. Pfohl served during World War II with the United States Army, 8th Air Force, where he attained the rank of sergeant.
He was employed at Carborundum Co. in the abrasive department as a stock handler for more than 40 years and also had worked on the family farm on Walmore Road for many years.
Mr. Pfohl was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore Road, where he had served as Elder and a member of the church choir for more than 50 years.
He was a past commander of Post 969, American Legion, Sanborn, and exempt member of the Sanborn Fire Company; a member of the LaSalle Sportsmen's Club; and the Carborundum Alumni Association.
“Uncle Louie,” as he was affectionately referred to by many in the Sanborn area enjoyed collecting black walnuts, cracking them and giving them to friends.
He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed playing baseball in his early years and watching in his later years.
He is survived by three sisters, Verone Haseley, Lizzie Haseley and Eleonore Craft all of Sanborn; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great-nephews.
He was the brother of the late Minnie Kroening, Martha Haseley, Sigmond (sic) Pfohl, the Rev. John Pfohl and Max Pfohl.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6:30 - 9:30 today at the Rhooney Funeral Home, 5893 Hoover Road, where the Sanborn Fire Company will conduct a memorial service at 9:30 p.m. The rev. Bruce M. Louis A. Pfohl, a lifelong resident of Sanborn who was affectionately known as "Uncle Louis," died in his home Wednesday (April 19, 2000) after apparently suffering a heart attack. He was 91.

Mrs. Haseley was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where she was active in the church choir for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Ladies Aid and other Circles within the church, visiting and sending cards to the sick and shut-ins, and making quilts for Lutheran World relief. She worked for J.J. Haseley & Sons, and accompanied her husband Marcus to the Niagara Falls Farmer's Market for over 40 years. She also had worked at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church Rectory, Lewiston, Niagara County, NY for 19 years.
Survivors include her husband of 70 years Marcus A., sons Rev. Ronald M. [ Joanne] of Greensburg, IN; Frederick W. [ Christy] of Roseville, CA; and Mark J. [ Marilyn ] of Ransomville, sister-in law, Lydia Stoelting of Wheatfield; 5 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. Lizzie Dorothea Pfohl was born in the Town of Lewiston on September 23, 1915, to Johannes and Eleonore [ Fahrenwald ] Pfohl.
She was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Sanborn, NY. Lizzie was baptized on October 3, 1915 and confirmed on Apr 21, 1929.
On January 12, 1939 Lizzie & Marcus Albert Haseley were united in marriage. They were blessed with three children: Ronald M., Frederick W., and Mark J.
She was a lifelong resident of Sanborn where she attended local schools. She worked for J.J. Haseley & Sons, and accompanied her husband Marcus to the Niagara Falls Farmer's Market for over 40 years. She also had worked at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church Rectory, Lewiston, Niagara County, NY for 19 years.
Lizzie was active in the church choir for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Ladies Aid and other Circles within the church, visiting and sending cards to the sick and shut-ins, and making quilts for Lutheran World Relief.
On Saturday, November 8, 2008, while a resident of Fairchild Manor, Lewiston, Niagara County, NY, Lizzie was called to be with her Lord. She was 93 years old.
Survivors include her husband of 70 years Marcus A., sons Rev. Ronald M. [ Joanne] of Greensburg, IN; Frederick W. [ Christy] of Roseville, CA; and Mark J. [ Marilyn ] of Ransomville, 4 sister-in laws, 5 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. Mrs. Eleonore E. Craft, 84 of Sanborn, NY, died Tuesday July 3, 2007, in Mount St. Mary's Hospital after a long illness.
She was born in Sanborn on January 17, 1923, the daughter of John and Eleonore [ Fahrnwald ] Pfohl. She attended LaSalle High School and Trott Vocational School. Eleonore was a life long member of St. Peter Lutheran Church-Walmore, in Sanborn, NY.
She had worked for the Jonas and Martha Haseley Muck farm for several years and for Moore Business Forms, for many years. She married Gilbert Goeseke, on July 22, 1950, and they moved to Newstead, NY, where she was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. Gilbert predeceased her on December 15, 1961.
She was married to Edwin Werth, on June 15, 1966, when they returned to the Sanborn area, he died on November 15, 1971. On September 16, 1978 Eleonore married Raymond Craft and they were married for six years, prior to his death on August 9, 1984.
Survivors include a son, Russell [ Barbara ] Goeseke of Town of Wheatfield, stepsons, Ronald [ Marlene ] Craft, Galen [ Nancy ] Craft, step daughter-in-law Dolores Werth, a granddaughter, Melissa Goeseke, step grandchildren Michael Werth, Cheryl Werth, Jeffery Craft, Mark Sydor, Robin Sydor, Scott Sydor, 4 step great grandchildren, a sister, Lizzie [ Marcus ] Haseley, of Sanborn, and many nieces and nephews.
She was the step mother of the late Robert Werth, and sister of the late Minnie Kroening, Martha Haseley, Verone Haseley, Sigmund Pfohl, Rev. John Pfohl, Louis A. Pfohl and Max Pfohl.
The family will be present at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, SANBORN, 5893 Hoover Road, from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 PM, Friday. WHEATFIELD - Arline F. Walck, a former secretary who was active in her church, died Thursday in Northgate Manor Health Care Facility, where she had been a patient for two years. She was 100.

Born Arline Blank in the Town of Niagara, she attended schools in the LaSalle section of Niagara Falls and in Wheatfield, and later attended Niagara Business College.

She worked as a secretary at the Nabisco plant in Niagara Falls and at Buffalo Garment Co.

Mrs. Walck was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school and a Bible class. She organized the church library in 1962. She dabbled in writing Christian music and also enjoyed reading and traveling.

Her husband, Hubert Walck, died in 1990.

Surviving are a son, Lester of Sanborn; a sister, Josephine Stange of North Tonawanda; a grandson; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6168 Walmore Road. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.

SANBORN-Philip (Pete) W. Haseley, 47, of 5888 Walmore Road, died Friday (Feb. 24, 1967) in Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital after a four-day illness.
He was born in the Town of Lewiston on May 8, 1919, the son of Philip F. Haseley and Anna DeVantier Haseley. He had lived all his life at the Walmore Road address where he operated a farm.
Mr. Haseley was a life member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore, and was a member of the Sanborn Volunteer Fire Co. band for many years.
Survivors include his widow, the former Carol Bohl; a son, Robert, and a daughter, Judy, both at home; a brother, Mervin P. Haseley of Sanborn; a nephew, Paul Haseley, Sanborn, and several aunts and uncles.
Friends may call at the Pike and Jones Funeral Home Inc. from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today, Sunday and Monday, and from noon until 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church where funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. She was born Sept. 12, 1913, in Wheatfield, the daughter of Adolf and Eleonore (Retzlaff) Haseley.
On Sept. 21. 1935, she married Arthur P. DuBois in Niagara Falls.
Mrs. DuBois was a member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. where she belonged to the Ladies Aide (sic) and Alter Guild for many years. She also was an exempt member of the Bergholz Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary.
She enjoyed needlepoint and crocheting.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Duane DuBois of Wheatfield; a daughter, Jane Andrews of Sanborn; two brothers, Melvin Walck of Farmington, Mich., and Norman Walck of Sanborn; two sisters, Helen Waldkoetter of North Tonawanda and Doris Toellner of Madison Heights. Mich.; two granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Chester Walck.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, where the Ladies Auxiliary of the Bergholz Fire Co. will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. today. The Rev. Philip N. Sallach will conduct services at 11 a.m. Monday in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, Niagara Road and Luther Street. Interment will be in Holy Ghost Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield.

WHEATFIELD - Agnes V. Walck, of Wheatfield, died Friday in Elderwood Health Care Center at CrestWood. She was 95.
Born Agnes Pfohl in the Town of Wheatfield, she attended local schools. She was a devoted homemaker and a lifelong, active member of St. Peter's Evangelical
Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of the Women of the Church.
She also was a member of the Sanbornite Senior Citizens and enjoyed many trips with the group.
Her husband of 52 years, Theodore J., died in 1983.
Survivors include a daughter, Gloria Hildebrandt of Sanborn; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

Hubert F. Pfohl, 89, of Sanborn, NY, died Monday September 8, 2003, after suffering an apparent heart attack at home.
He was born in the Town of Wheatfield, Niagara County, NY, on April 16, 1914, the son of Anton and Elsie [ Haseley ] Pfohl, where he attended local schools. Hubert worked most of his life as a farmer, he had also been employed for 16 years, for the New York State Highway Department.
He was a life long member of St. Peter Evangelical Church, Walmore, NY, where he had served as an elder and trustee. He was married in St. Peter's Church on October 30, 1938, to the former Norma A. Walck.
He was a loving and devoted husband and father, especially to his daughter Karen, who predeceased him.
Surviving is his wife of 64 years, Norma, two daughters, Beverly [ Charles ] Pendergast; Janet [ David ] Tober, both of Sanborn, NY; a sister, Agnes Walck, of Town of Wheatfield, Niagara County, NY; five grandchildren, Kristen [ Marty ] Kenny; Mark [ Nancy ] Miller; Rachel [ Daryl ] Haseley; Beth [ Steve ] Guidetti; Michael [ fiancé Lisa Rynn ] Tober; 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

WHEATFIELD - Erwin G. Pfohl, 75, of Lockport Road, died Dec. 15, 1993, in DeGraff Memorial Hospital, North Tonawanda.
Pfohl was born in Wheatfield on Nov. 12, 1918, the son of Anthony and Elsie (Haseley) Pfohl, and was a lifelong Wheatfield resident. In 1948, he and Clarence Kroening formed a partnership to operate the Sanborn Milling Co. Inc. He later bought Kroening's share. and continued to operate the business for another 15 years until his retirement in 1983.
Pfohl was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Sanborn, where he held various positions over the years. He. was an exempt member of. the Sanborn Fire Co. and the Sanborn Lions Club, and a former member of the LaSalle Sportsmen's Club.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Eleanor H. Devantier) Pfohl; a daughter, Ann Kroening of Sanborn; a son, Eugene Pfohl of Sanborn; a brother, Hubert Pfohl of Sanborn; a sister, Agnes Walck of Niagara Falls; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was a lifelong resident of Wheatfield.
Pfohl was a member of the Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service, Niagara County Farm Bureau, and had served on the Agricultural Districting Advisory Committee. In addition, he was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where he served as trustee and on various project committees.
He played trumpet with bands, including the Bergholz German Band, with whom he traveled with to Europe, Canada and through the U.S.
Pfohl enjoyed cars, and often was seen driving his 1948 General Motors Corporation truck around town, as well as in parades.
His wife, the former Edna Schimschack, died in 1993.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Walck; a foster son, Harry Dickenson; a sister, Erna Stenzel of North Tonawanda; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

NIAGARA FALLS — Minnie L. DuBois (Wendt), age 89, of Niagara Falls, was called to her heavenly home, peacefully, on Thursday, October 20, 2011 to be with our Lord and Savior, at her residence, with her loving family by her bedside and under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on August 12, 1922 to the late Arthur and Minnie (Haseley) Wendt. She was employed at the former International Paper Company in Niagara Falls for several years. Minnie was united in marriage to Walter E. DuBois on July 10, 1943, and they were married 65 years when Walter entered into rest on March 25, 2009. In 1944 she was stricken with polio and with everything she endured, she held on to her strong faith in God and was a loving and devoted wife and mother, raising three children. Minnie was a member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, in Bergholz, enjoyed making crafts, playing cards and dominoes, cooking, baking and spending time with her family and friends. She was also predeceased by a sister, Violet Cvetan and three brothers, Ervin, Reinert and Arthur Wendt.

She was born Feb. 12, 1919, in the Town of Niagara, the daughter of Louis and Laura (Wendt) Haseley. She graduated from Niagara Falls High School.
Mrs. (sic) Haseley worked for the federal Department of Defense, Niagara Falls, for more than 30 years. She retired in 1977 as chief administrative officer of the Western New York Regulatory Office. PENDLETON - Former Niagara County Legislator and Town Justice Gordon L. Haseley, a dairy farmer and lifelong Pendleton resident, died Tuesday in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center after a long illness. He was 83.
Mr. Haseley was a self-employed dairy farmer on the family's 200-acre Lockport Road farm until the early 1970s. He also was a life-fire-casualty insurance agent, stock broker, certified state nurseryman and landscaper. He served on the boards of the Dairy Council of Western New York, the Niagara County Milk Producers, the state Fish and Wildlife Management Service and the Sea Grant Lake Ontario advisory council.
He also was active in local civic affairs. He was founding chairman of the first Town of Pendleton Planning Board, served on the Pendleton Town Board in 1960, and as town justice from the late 1950s until 1970. He was a Niagara County legislator from 1970 to 1976, and a member of the Starpoint School Board for a decade after his legislative service.
Mr. Haseley was a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda, where he had served as treasurer, trustee and elder. He was a member of the New York State Magistrates Association, Tonawanda Sportsmans Club, Lions Club, and the Farm Bureau. He was a charter member of the Shawnee Volunteer Fire Company, and a member of NASDAQ and the 4-H.
"After he got out of dairy farming, he did his stone mason work, but I think he was really [most] proud of being on the Sea Grant board," said his daughter, Holly O'Connor. He helped Sea Grant with development strategies and environmental issues along Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence Seaway, O'Connor said. She said her father also enjoyed being a town justice.
His hobbies included fishing, hunting, woodworking and gardening.
His first wife, of 19 years, the former Helen Thiele, died in 1968. Surviving are his wife of 31 years, the former Alice R. Widzinski; six children, Peter of Germany, Holly O'Connor of Chicago, Nancy Haseley of Las Vegas, Thaddeus M. Piechalak of Cheektowaga, Paul Piechalak of Buffalo and Gary Piechalak of Lancaster; a brother, Louis of Holiday, Fla.; two sisters, Mildred Hijazi of Carlsbad, Calif., and Ruth Berger of Annapolis, MD.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Ex-Lockport Man Dies In Coast Crash
LOCKPORT - A former Lockport man was killed in an automobile accident Sunday (Feb. 14, 1965) while returning to his home in Corvallis, Ore., after a weekend drill with the Air Force Reserve at Portland, Ore. He was Capt. Arnold F. Haseley, 33, an associate professor at Oregon State University, while he was studying for his doctor's degree. He was a graduate of Purdue University, Mr. Haseley attended Lockport High School and graduated from North Tonawanda High School. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Corvallis, and was Sunday school superintendent.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Dana Alexander Haseley, and three children, Debra, Randall and Kristen Haseley, all of Corvallis; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis S. Rites Set For Victim Of Crash
NORTH TONAWANDA- Full military honors will be accorded to Capt. Arnold F. Haseley, 33, of Corvallis, Ore., formerly of Lockport Road, Town of Pendleton, who was fatally injured in an auto accident Sunday night near Salem, Ore.
The family and friend's will gather at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Martin's Lutheran Church, Old Falls Boulevard, for a procession to White Chapel Memorial Park for burial. Rev. Luther Knauff, pastor of St. Martin's Church, will conduct a prayer service.
Participating in the military rites will be members of the 4621st Support Group, Niagara Falls Air Force Base. Capt. Haseley was a member of the Air Force Reserve in Oregon and was an instructor at Oregon State University.

Bernhard "Bernie" Emil Walck, 87, born April 14, 1922 in Wheatfield, NY to Emil Frederick Walck and Esther Natalie Beutel, passed away July 11, 2009 in the care of his family members at his daughter, Sharon's home in Green Cove Springs, FL. He grew up in the Niagara Falls area. He graduated from Capital University and Trinity Seminary in Columbus, OH. Bernhard served churches in the New York, Ontario, Canada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Montana and California. During his stay in Montana, he also served as civilian chaplain to the United States Air Force radar base at Opheim, MT. Bernhard was married to Florence Evelyn Pepper in 1943. This union lasted for fifty two years. Four children were born to this union, Sharon, Cassandra, Deborah and Rebekah. Since his retirement, Bernhard has been a volunteer chaplain at the hospital in Orange Park, Florida, Homewood Village in The Villages and served as "Elder of Heart" at Leesburg Assembly of God. During his stay in Florida, Bernhard renewed his acquaintance with a former parishioner, Allie Taylor Coombes. This led to their marriage on April, 19, 1998 at the Leesburg First Assembly of God where they held their membership for years. A life long member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Sanborn, where she was currently the oldest member. Edna was active with St. Peter's Senior Citizens, the Cradle Roll, and quilter's group. She was also active with Daus House, in Bergholz as a curator for visitors. Edna and her late husband, Hugo C. Walck, were united in marriage on June 7, 1947. He passed on October 3, 1994. They maintained a home in Florida for many years, and welcomed family and friends to stay there. Hugo and Edna traveled extensively in Europe, the Pacific Islands, Australia, and caravanned cross country, into the Canadian Rockies, up to Alaska. Edna and her sister Lillian, enjoyed traveling to the Holy Land. She enjoyed baseball, and was a fan of the Toronto Blue Jays, and the Atlanta Braves. Edna was an accomplished horse back rider, and naturally musically gifted in playing the piano and organ. Earlier in life, Edna was employed at Moore Business Forms in the 1950's, Biagios Quality Inn located in Niagara Falls, as the head housekeeper, and then worked at Hotel Niagara when John's Restaurant took it over. Survivors include her loving daughters, Brenda and Linda, and their husbands, Joel Jaffe and Michael Rozyczko; a grandson, Michael Rozyczko; special niece, Judy Baribeau; special nephews, Grant, Glenn and Mark DuBois; many other nieces and nephews; and a great nephew, Harley. Edna was also preceded in death by her brother, Bert DeVantier; and sister, Lillian DuBois.Friends are invited to join with her family, for services to be held on Wednesday, September 1, at 2:00 p.m. in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 6168 Walmore Road, Sanborn, NY 14132, with the Rev. He was born Feb. 6, 1931, in the Town of Niagara, the son of Adolph and Hilda (Beutel) DeVantier. He married Janice M. Kriedemann on Sept. 3, 1955. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was employed by the Carborundum County, Buffalo Avenue plant, for 26 years before the plant closed. He also was self-employed for 20 years as the owner and manager of the Tired Iron Transport Co. A lifelong resident of the town, he was also a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Bert W. DeVantier of the Town of Niagara and Lee G. DeVantier of Seoul, Korea; two sisters, Lillian DuBois of the Town of Niagara and Edna Walck of Wheatfield; and several nieces and nephews. Ruth Pasquarette, age 77, of the Town of Cambria, died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 14, 2017 in Buffalo General Medical Center. Ruth was born on July 7, 1939 in Wilson, the daughter of the late Edward and Agatha (Beutel) Schaal.
She was a graduate of Wilson High School and she married Gale C. Pasquarette on November 22, 1958. They have resided in Cambria since 1969. Ruth was a very active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wilson. She enjoyed her workouts and exercising at the Lockport Athletic and Fitness Club.
She is survived by her husband, Gale; a son, Steve (Karen) Pasquarette of Honeoye Falls, NY; her grandchildren, Ryan, Miranda, Amy, and Aiden; and a great-grandchild, Spencer. She was predeceased by a son, Andrew Pasquarette; a brother, Elton Schaal; and two sisters, Dolores Schaal and Helen Wollaber.

Elton Schaal of Wilson passed away May 18, 2015 at the age of 85. Son of the late Edwin and Agathe Schaal and husband to the late Elizabeth (Morton) and brother to the late Helen Wollaber and Dolores Eckler. Elton was a local farmer and worked for Harrison Radiator. A United States Army Veteran who served during the Korean War. Elton was a devoted Christian and lifetime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wilson, NY.

He had a deep love for the land and his farm animals. He enjoyed selling his crops at the Niagara Falls and North Tonawanda City Markets. Most of all, he loved being at home and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his children, Dorothy (George) Preston of Ithaca NY, Nancy Simmons of Wilson, NY, Gloria (Thomas) Ierardi of Skaneateles NY; his sister, Ruth (Gale) Pasquarette; and his six grandchildren, Geoffrey and Emma Preston, Kiersten and Benjamin Simmons, Maria and Alex Ierardi.

Family and friends are invited to Hamilton and Clark Funeral Home, 270 Young St, Wilson NY 14172 on Friday, May 22, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. - noon. John W. Beutel, 66, of the Town of Tonawanda, died Friday (Sept. 24, 1999) in Kenmore Mercy Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born in Sanborn, he attended Trott Vocational High School in Niagara Falls. Beutel served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He was stationed in Germany and achieved the rank of corporal before his discharge.
Before and after his military service, he worked in the family business, William Beutel and Sons, a well drilling business. He worked there until 1964 when he went to work at the General Motors Chevrolet Engine Plant in the Town of Tonawanda. He worked there for 33 years as a repairman, retiring in 1997.
In 1964, he married Patricia Ann Hickey. They settled in Tonawanda, where they were members of St. Amelia's Roman Catholic Church. Beutel was active in the parish's annual Catholic Charities Drive and was a past treasurer of the Tonawanda Boy Scout Troop 229.
He also was a member of the Western New York Gas and Steam Engine Association; the Western New York Two-Cylinder Club, the Western New York Railway Historical Society; and the Niagara Frontier Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society.

Herman David Beutel, 69, of Sanborn, NY passed away on Monday June 5th, 2006 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, Niagara County, NY, after a brave battle with lung cancer.
He was born in Sanborn, NY, on April 10, 1937, to William and Clara [ Bartel ] Beutel. Mr. Beutel attended St. Andrews School, in Pekin; Wilson High School, Trott Vocational High School, in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, and Bailey Technical School, in St. Louis, MO. He worked with his father and brother John in the family business, William Beutel and Sons Well Drilling. He also worked as a diesel mechanic for Brockway Trucks; Massaro Detroit Diesel; Niagara Diesel and Niagara Falls Coach Lines, prior to retiring on April 1, 1999.
Mr. Beutel served in the United States Army from August 16, 1960 to August 9, 1962. Most of his active duty was in Okinawa, Japan. He received and honorable discharge and completed six years in the reserve duty locally. On August 18, 1978 he married the former Carol [ Reid ] Morgan, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, in Sanborn, NY. His hobbies included restoring old tractors and traveling. He traveled extensively with his wife Carol to all fifty States, seven Canadian Provinces, the Caribbean area and eight countries in Europe.
He was a lifetime member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church - Walmore, Sanborn, NY,a member of the Operating Engineers Local 17, Sanborn Area Historical Society and the Sanbornite Seniors.
Surviving is his wife Carol, sister Hilda Snyder, an aunt Gladys Beutel, of Sanborn; step sons, John Reid Morgan, of Lake Orion, MI; David Justin [ Ivy ] Morgan;granddaughter Kylie Morgan, all of Parma Heights OH; sisters in law Pat [ late John ] Beutel, Tonawanda, Erie County, NY; Ellen Reid, of Belmar, NJ; Marie [ Col. Larry ] Grundhauser, CO Springs, CO, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He then served at Redeemer and First Lutheran Church in Monkton and Logan Township, Ontario, He served at Redeemer Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda since 1983 until the present. In his spare time, he enjoyed cooking, barbecuing, his John Deere, traveling, target shooting, and the outdoors. Rev. Beutel was predeceased by his parents and his brothers Jerry and Howard Beutel. 
Rev. Beutel is survived by his wife of 47 years Kathleen (Lange) Beutel, father of Laura (Ryan) Allen, Heidi Beutel, and Eric (Heidi Edmands) Beutel, brother of Raymond (Amanda), Bonita (the late Leonard) Forth, brother-in-law of Gail and Arlene Beutel. Donald William Wendt, formerly of Sanborn, NY, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2009, in Grand Rapids, MI. He was born April 20, 1920, in Sanborn, NY, the son of William B. and Grace E. Wendt. Mr. Wendt attended grade school at St. Andrews Lutheran School and LaSalle High School and Trott vocational school. He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers attached to the Air Force from 1942 until 1946 in the Azores' Islands. He was also stationed at Eniwetok, Saipan, Tinian Island and Okinawa. After being honorably discharged he was employed for 42 years as an Engineer for the Niagara Junction Railway and later Conrail, retiring in December of 1981. Mr. Wendt, together with his beloved wife, Dorothy became successful entrepreneurs in the opening of Wendt's Propane Gas in 1952. The company was a major supplier of propane gas to the massive Robert Moses Power Project on the Niagara River in the early sixties as well as many local customers. He was a former member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Sanborn for many years and then joined The First Assembly of God Church in Niagara Falls. Mr. Wendt was very fond of traveling, gardening, construction, hunting and fishing. He was the husband of fifty-four years to the late Dorothy Helen (Walck) Wendt, who died in January of 2006. Together they are the parents of Gary (Jacquelyn) of Tuscaloosa, AL, Douglas ( Marion) of Grand Rapids, MI and Susan of Lockport, NY; three brothers, Glenn (Jean), Kenneth (Dianne), Forrest (late Gail) Wendt; a sister, Gracelyn (late John) Bilek, all of Sanborn, NY; brother-in-law of Norine and Darla Wendt; also survived by eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. SANBORN - Marvin W. Wendt, 73, of Shenk Road, a Niagara County legislator from 1978 to 1991, died Tuesday (Aug. 20, 1996) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston.
He was born on Nov. 23, 1922, in Cambria, the son of William and Grace Wendt. On June 17, 1944, he married the former Ruth O. Belling in St. Martin's Lutheran Church, Marvin W. Wendt North Tonawanda.
Born in Cambria, he was self-employed as a well driller and excavator from 1944 to 1989.
From 1978 to 1991, Mr. Wendt served as a Niagara County legislator.
He was a member of the Western New York and the New York State Volunteer Firemen's Association, and was active in civic affairs. He was a charter member of the Sanborn Lions Club. He was very active with the Republican party and was a past Republican committeeman.
He served as past president of the Sanborn Fire Company, where he also was a past assistant fire chief, past president of the Niagara County Volunteer Firemen's Association, past treasurer of both St. Martin's Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda and St. Peter's Lutheran Church on Walmore Road, where he was a member.
He was an avid fan, as well as a collector, of old steam engines, and was active in the Western New York Gas and Steam Association, where he served as director.

Wendt, 73, of Shenk Road was born in the Town of Cambria and had been a lifelong resident of Sanborn.

Bertram F. Wendt, 74, a cymbal player in the Sanborn Fire Company Band since 1945, died Sunday (Jan. 23, 2000) in Sisters Hospital after a long illness.
Wendt had joined the fire company in 1943, but his passion was the fire company's award-winning 60-piece marching band. In an interview with The Buffalo News in July 1999, he said, "The band comes first -- besides my church."
So dedicated was Wendt that he kept playing the cymbals in a wheelchair during the last three years of parades, because a back injury kept him from marching fast enough to keep up with his band mates.
"Back in '95, I injured my back trying to restart a snow blower after it stalled," Wendt said in the interview. "When I pulled the cord, it kicked back and twisted my back. Then the arthritis set in."
A Sanborn native, Wendt attended local elementary schools and Trott Vocational High School in Niagara Falls.
He worked at Hoover's Dairy in Sanborn, and then at A.E. Gombert Lumber Co. in North Tonawanda before taking a job as a mill worker and truck driver at Sanborn Milling Co. for more than 20 years. In later years, he delivered flowers every spring for Sanborn Greenhouse.
Wendt served six years on the fire company board of directors. When he became an exempt member, he took up fire police duties and served as fire police captain from 1981 to 1996.
On Jan. 11, 1992, the Town of Lewiston presented him its first firemen's incentive award.
Wendt was a longtime member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wheatfield. He was a church trustee for eight years, Sunday school secretary for 20 years and custodian of St. Peter's Lutheran School for 29 years.
He was a former member of the LaSalle Sportsmen's Club and an avid fan of the New York Yankees.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, the former Norine M. Walck; three daughters, Sally A. Kelley of Cleveland, TN., and Laurie L. Draper and Darlene C. Giannini, both of Wheatfield; five brothers, Donald, Glenn, William B. Jr., Kenneth, and Forrest; a sister, Gracellyn Bilek; and four grandchildren.

Glenn L. Wendt of Sanborn, NY, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2017, in DeGraff Memorial Hospital, North Tonawanda, NY. He was born at home in Sanborn on May 7, 1930, the son of the late William B. and Grace E. (Wendt) Wendt. Mr. Wendt attended Trott Vocational High School. He worked with his uncle at Wendt Frozen Foods in Buffalo before taking over the family farm and sold Minneapolis Moline tractors. Mr. Wendt worked construction with Smith Brothers and became an operating engineer with Operating Engineer Local 463, until retiring in 1995. He was a life-member of the Sanborn Fire Company, where he served as President and Fire Chief. He had been on every truck committee since 1966 up until the two last fire trucks were purchased. He was active in all the fire companies' activities. Mr. Wendt served as Past President of Niagara County Fire Chiefs Association, FASNY and many other fire related associations. He was a member of the Sanborn Historical Society and Holy Ghost Lutheran Church and enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling and NASCAR. Mr. Wendt is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jean (Smith) Wendt; one son, Jay (Susan) Wendt; three daughters, Dr. Joanne (Tony) Clews, Judy (Robert) Hoover and Joy (Richard) Frerichs; eight grandchildren, Robert (Darci) Hoover, Christina (Mike) Herlan, Thomas (Jen Schepis) Hoover, Jennifer (Jeff) Melear, Michael (Julie) Frerichs, Jamie (Dan) Lukasiewicz, Tiffany (Vincent Aquino) and Brandon (fiance'e, Emma Grayson) Wendt; thirteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Forrest (late Gail) Wendt; a sister, Gracelyn (late John) Bilek; also many nieces and nephews. William B. Wendt Jr., a former Town Board member, died Wednesday (Jan. 28, 2004) in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was 71.
A lifelong area resident, he attended local schools.
Wendt served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1960, partly during the Korean War, aboard the USS Cainard.
"Junior," as he was known by many, was a well driller and plumber most of his working career. His business card for Ken Wendt's Propane Gas Service, said "Jr. Wendt, Jack of All Trades." He retired in 1989.
A Cambria Town Board member during the mid- to late 1970s, he was an exempt member and former treasurer of Sanborn Fire Company and was a bass drummer in the company's marching band.
Wendt was past president and treasurer of Niagara County Volunteer Firemen's Association. For many years, he was judge for the association's volunteer firemen parades.
He was past commander of the Sanborn American Legion post and a former member of the Sanborn Lions Club, serving as chairman of the annual chowder sale for several years.
Wendt was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, North Tonawanda. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, the former Darla Wackett; two daughters, Tammy Payne and Laura Lee Wiepert, both of Ransomville; a son, Richard of North Tonawanda; four brothers, Donald, Glenn, Kenneth and Forrest, all of Sanborn; a sister, Gracellyn Bilick of Sanborn; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Services will be at 11 A.M. Monday in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 64 E. Felton St., North Tonawanda. Burial will be in Mount View Cemetery, Cambria

Kenneth L. Wendt, of Sanborn, NY, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2009, at Hospice Buffalo, Cheektowaga, NY. He was born in Sanborn, NY on January 21, 1934, the son of the late William B. and Grace E. (Wendt) Wendt.Ken graduated from North Tonawanda High School. He was a Seabee with the U.S. Navy, during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as a painter with Lou Anastasi, with his brother, Donald, at Wendt's Gas and with Niagara Mohawk for several years. Ken started Ken Wendt's Propane Gas Service in Sanborn in 1968, which he continued to operate for the next 35 years. He was a State and National officer with the Seabee Veterans of America, a member of the Island X-8 Tonawanda Seabees and chairman of the Seabee Monument Committee on River Road. He was a member of the Sanborn Fire Co. for 58 years and a member of the Fire Companies Exempts, NYSFA. Ken was active in the Sanborn Community over the years as a member of the, Sanborn Lions Club, the Niagara Central Rotary Club and the Sanborn Historical Society. He will always be remembered, for his "Can Do" attitude. Ken is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dianne S. (Sawyer) Wendt; three sons, Mark K. (Maria) Wendt of Waldorf, MD, Paul R. (Susan) Wendt of Ransomville, NY and Todd W. Mrs. Bilek enjoyed gardening, cooking and was involved with many community and group activities.   She was a member of the Sanborn Fire Women's Auxiliary and St. Paul's Evangelist Lutheran Church.    Her most cherished time was spent with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchild.
Mrs. Bilek was the wife of the late John J. Bilek, who passed away in June of 2009. She is survived by her children Wayne J. Bilek,  Craig J. Bilek and Denise R. (Steven) Calvaneso, grandchildren, Rachel V. Norma A. Pfohl, age 99, of Sanborn, NY, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2014, in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence. She was born in the Town of Wheatfield, on April 25, 1915, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Laura [Wendt] Walck.

Mrs. Pfohl was a life long resident of the Sanborn area. She helped her husband Hubert run the family farm for many years. She was a lifetime member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church Walmore and loved spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Pfohl and her husband lovingly took care of their invalid daughter the late Karen Pfohl, who died in 1999.

She was the wife of the late Hubert F. Pfohl, who died in September of 2003. Mrs. Pfohl is survived by two daughters Beverly (Charles) Pendergast and Janet (David) Tober both of Sanborn, five grandchildren Mark (Nancy) Miller, Kristen (Johnny) Seawell, Rachel (Daryl) Haseley, Beth (Steven) Guidetti and Michael (Stephanie) Tober, ten great grandchildren Lauren, Ryan and Addison Miller, Brett and Jeremiah Seawell, Lauren and Riley Haseley, Emily Guidetti and Luke and Jane Tober. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Benjamin Walck, Emily DuBois and Allen Walck.

SANBORN - Benjamin C. Walck Jr., 54, of 2617 Lockport Road, died Wednesday Mount St. Mary's Hospital after a long illness.
He was a native of the Town of Wheatfield and served during World War II with the U.S. Army.
Mr. Walck had worked for the New York State Highway Department for 15 years at the time of his death and was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church Walmore, Wheatfield American Legion Post 145 Amvets Post 26 of North Tonawanda, Civil Service Employees Association, and the American Federation of State, County, and municipal employees.
He is survived by his widow Lorena; four daughters Louise, Barbara, and Linda Walck of Sanborn, and Mrs. David (Marie) Shannon of Key, West, Fla.; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Walck, and two sisters, Mrs. Hubert (Norma) Pfohl and Mrs. Herbert (Emily) DuBois all of Sanborn; and one grandson, three nieces and two nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Harold L. Baum officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.

Councilman Lawrence A. Walck, 66, died Thursday (Jan. 3, 1991) after he was stricken at his home on Upper Mountain Road.
A native of Wheatfield, Walck had been a Cambria town councilman for 12 years and intended to run for re-election next fall.
He had no opponent in his last campaign for re-election in 1987, when he was nominated by the Republican and Conservative parties.
Walck retired June 30 as a compositor at the Tonawanda News after 42 years in the printing industry.
He began his apprenticeship at the Lockport Union-Sun and Journal, then worked at the Niagara Gazette. He joined the Tonawanda News in 1960 and had served as chapel chairman for the International Typographical Union.
He was a 17-year member of the Pekin Fire Company, serving in various offices, including as treasurer.
He also was vice president of the Exempt Firemen of Pekin, local publicity director for the Lutheran Laymen's League and a member of Messiah Lutheran Church of Lewiston.
Walck had coached baseball in Cambria and was a member of the Tonawanda and Niagara County Sportsmen's associations.
Survivors include his wife, the former Jean Becken; two sons, Jerry of Lewiston and Donald; two daughters, Patricia Purdy of Williamsville and Pamela; four brothers, Herbert and Clarence, both of Lyndonville, Earl of Niagara Falls and Delbert of Chesapeake, Va.; two sisters, Margaret Budnack of Newfane and Edith Sherbert of Rochester, and five grandchildren.

HERBERT A. WALCK Mr. Herbert A. Walck, of the Town of Ridgeway, passed away on Saturday evening, March 1, 2008 at the Medina Memorial Hospital. Mr. Walck was born in Wheatfield, September 7, 1925, a son of the late Andrew and Edna (Wendt) Walck. On March 5, 1949, he married the former Janet Lund and the couple were longtime area residents. Active in the community, he was a member and Trustee of the Lyndonville United Methodist Church, Past President of the Lyndonville Lions Club, a longtime member of the Ridgeway Republican Committee and the Lyndonville Area Foundation. He was very interested in antique automobiles and was a member of the Pierce Arrow Club, Antique Automobile Association of America, Model T and Early V8 Club, and enjoyed attending Cruise Nights and the Hershey Flea Market. He was an avid reader. Twenty six years ago, he donated a kidney to his son, Stewart. He was employed by several Western New York publications including the Medina Journal Register, as a printer, and retired from FMC as a mechanic. He was well- known in the area for his heating and plumbing abilities. Survivors include his wife, Janet; a son, Stewart (Bonnie) Walck of Albion; two daughters, Sandra (Will) Zwink of Albany and Barbara (Michael) Halpern of Wilmington, NC; four grandchildren, Brenden, Alison, Jennifer and Jack; a sister, Margaret (Robert) Budnack of Newfane; two brothers, Earl Walck of Niagara Falls and Delbert (Margaret) Walck of Chesapeake, VA; two sisters-in-law, Jean Walck of Sanborn and Edna Walck of Ridgeway; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Despite the loss of her husband, Kenneth Witkop in 1974 at an early age, and her numerous hardships and health problems, it is difficult to think of a time in which she complained and how three of these remained: Faith, Hope and Love. But the greatest of these is Love- 1 Corinthians 13:13.

If a life is to be measured by personal possessions, her life missed the mark. But if life is to be measured by Faith in a risen Savior, Hope in eternal life and Love to all, then her life was rich indeed, and we are richer for having known her. Lorraine was a long time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda, where she was active with the Ladies Aid. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and loved children.

Survivors include her son, Jeffrey (Dawn) Witkop of Rochester; two grandchildren, Adam Kenneth Witkop and Kristen Marie Witkop; two brothers, Ronald and Joel Wendt; two sisters, Jane Kroening and Marlyn Gross; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield on Saturday from 6-8 PM and Sunday 1-3 and 5-7 PM. Services will be conducted in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 453 Old Falls Blvd., North Tonawanda on Monday, March 14th at 11:00 AM. Interment in the Wheatfield Cemetery. Age 89, of Cambria, New York, entered into rest on Saturday, October 31, 2020. Ronald was born on May 10, 1931 on the Family Farm in Sanborn, New York. Ronald had a great sense of humor and was known to always express that the Doctor's fee for his delivery at his family home was $15.00. He was the son of the late Alton and Irene (Blank) Wendt. He married Barbara Szathmary in August of 1952 and they enjoyed 45 wonderful years together. Ron was a member of the Sanborn Fire Company Marching Band for over 50 years where he played bass-horn. He worked for the Niagara County Highway Department for over 20 years. Ron was the owner of Morning Dale Farms formerly of Sanborn, New York and Lockport, New York. Ron loved to work-hard and was an active Farmer his entire life. He had a love for John Deere tractors and enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, hunting in the Adirondacks with his hunting partners for 50 straight years. He enjoyed sharing his hunting stories from hunting in the Adirondacks with friends and Family. Ron was a lifetime member of the NRA and staunch defender of the Second Amendment. He was a life-long member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda until its closing. Ron enjoyed spending time with his Family.
His wife Barbara passed away in June of 1998.
Ron is survived by his sons David R. (Melissa) Wendt and Michael S. (Elaine) Wendt, five grandchildren Stephen, Matthew (Bridget), Robert, John and Thomas, a sister Marlyn (late Carl) Gross, a brother Joel (Barbara) Wendt, two brother in laws Robert (late Helen) Perry and Joseph (Barbara) Szathmary, also several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Loraine (Kenneth) Witkop and Jane (Edgar) Kroening.
Funeral Services and burial will be private and held at the convenience of and for his immediate Family only.

own" in farming since he was

takes an active interest in his
church. He is a member. of

is a trustee on, the church
council and wa$ a delegate
to the Buffalo-Lake Ontario
conference last summer.

JANE MARIE KROENING, age 85, was called to her heavenly home on April 12, 2019 in Gilbert, Arizona, where she resided for the past two years. Born in Niagara Falls, New York on October 24, 1933; daughter of the late Elton and Irene (Blank) Wendt. A lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore, where she was active with the seniors, Women of the church, choir member, and quilting.
Jane was a resident of Sanborn for the majority of her life. She was employed at Starpoint Central School, in the cafeteria, where she loved to see her grandchildren standing in line for lunch. Hobbies and interests included sewing, bowling, gardening, growing pumpkins, and the time spent at the family cabin. 
Jane was predeceased by her husband, Edgar Kroening, on July 1, 1994; a son, Mark Kroening; and a sister, Lorraine Witkop.
Survivors include two children, Brenda (Rick) Kline of Eloy, AZ, and Gerald (Linda) Kroening of Sanborn, NY; daughter in law, Darla Kroening-Retzlaff; two brothers, Ronald Wendt and Joel (Barb) Wendt; a sister, Marlyn; seven grandchildren, Heather Kline, Jamie (Todd) Conklin, Jason (Courtney) Kroening, Lindsay (Shawn) Chapels, Tyler (Laura) Kroening, Matthew and Brock Kroening; eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Rev. Eugene W. Beutel, 77, of Camp Hill, formerly of Freehold and Neptune, NJ, passed away Monday, April 25, 2005 in Holy Spirit Hospital.
Born July 27, 1927 in Sanborn, NY, he was the son of the late Edwin and Alice Beutel.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving as Army Chaplain in Korea from 1953-1955 and a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal. He served as a Mission Pastor in Baltimore, MD and Neptune, NJ. While living in Freehold, NJ, he was the Mission and Service Director of the American Lutheran Church in the Northeast Area. He obtained his Doctor of Ministry from Princeton University and went on to serve as Coordinator of Region 8 for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
Rev. Beutel is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dolores M. Hanson; three sons, David Beutel and wife, Robin Marek of North Kingston, RI, Paul Beutel and wife, Teena of Newport, PA and Jonathan Beutel of Manasquan, NJ; eight siblings and eight grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 A.M. on Monday, May 2, 2005, in Saint Timothy Lutheran Church, 4200 Market Street, Camp Hill. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Viewing will be held from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Sunday, May 1, 2005, in the Neil Funeral Home, 3401 Market Street, Camp Hill and from 9 A.M. until the time of service on Monday, in the church.

Jeanette was born November 1, 1928, in the Town of Wheatfield, NY, the daughter of the late Edwin and Alice (Williams) Beutel. She was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Pekin. She loved spending time with her family and friends and enjoyed flower gardening.
Jeanette is survived by her husband of 63 years, Harry A. BEUTEL, ALLEN E. Ph.D. Allen E. Beutel of La Jolla passed away early the morning of November 25, 2003. He was born in Sanborn, New York on January 21, 1930. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War and married Patricia, his wife of 52 years, in 1951. Allen moved his young family to San Diego in 1962 and pursued a career in Information Management within the Aerospace Industry and Federal Government. During his career, Allen served as Special Assistant to the Undersecretary of the Navy for Data Automation and held the position of Executive Director of the Office of Information Resources Management for the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in Washington, D.C. He received his Masters Degree in Public Administration from San Diego State University in 1972 and his Ph.D. in Public Administration from the University of Southern California in 1976. During his retirement, Allen enjoyed spending more time with his family, attending baseball games, playing golf with friends and continuing his love for teaching as an adjunct faculty member of the University of Redlands in their Master of Arts in Management Program. A Memorial service to celebrate Allen's life will take place at the Solana Beach Presbyterian Church, 120 Stevens Avenue, Solana Beach, CA on December 9, 2003 at 10:30 A.M. He was a warm, caring and compassionate man loved and admired by his family and friends. He is now reunited with his much-loved wife, Pauline (Andrew) Beutel. Jim was born in Wheatfield, NY on September 28, 1936; son of the late Edwin and Alice (Williams) Beutel. He was a life-long member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where he held various roles. In his youth, he played basketball and track. He graduated from Trott Vocational & Technical High School, and was a past member of Cataract Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps. Jim served in the United States Army, worked at Kimberly Clarke and retired from Occidental Chemical Corporation in 2000. He remained socially active in retirement, working at the Maid of the Mist, Lane Funeral Home & Wagner’s Farm Market, where he worked for 69 years. Jim enjoyed playing cards, traveling & attending concerts with his wife, family & friends. He was an avid walker, and could out-walk many! Longtime Sanborn resident Kenneth E. Beutel, a retired tool-and-die machinist, died unexpectedly Friday in his Buffalo home. He was 73.
Born in Wheatfield, Mr. Beutel attended Trott Vocational School in Niagara Falls. A Sanborn resident most of his life, he moved to Buffalo in recent years.
He was employed as a tool-and-die machinist at Bell Aerospace during the 1960s and worked for several other companies over the years, including a stint as a landscaper. He retired in 2001.
Mr. Beutel was a member of the Sanborn Fire Company Band and St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Walmore. In Buffalo, he was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church and was a volunteer at DeGraff Memorial Hospital in North Tonawanda and Buffalo General Hospital. He also did volunteer work for the St. Vincent de Paul Society and enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include a daughter, Vicki Doucette of North Tonawanda; a son, Bradley of Baltimore; three sisters, Janette Kroening of Sanborn, Beatrice White of Albany and Audrey Mattrese of Scottsdale, AZ.; four brothers, Edwin and James, both of Sanborn, the Rev. LeRoy of Fredericksburg, Va., and the Rev. Donald of Baltimore; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 A.M. Tuesday in DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Wheatfield. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield
