Mrs. Ida R. Sahr, 81 years old,
widow of Frederick Sahr.Civil War
veteran, who died last summer, pass
ed away at her home, on the Niagara
Falls boulevard, this city,
this morning. Born in Germany,
she came to America at the age
of one and with her parents came
to North Tonawanda immediately
to reside, continuing her residence
here until death.
Mrs. Sahr was a member of St.
Paul's church and a pioneer resi-
dent of the Martinsville section
of North Tonawanda, having seen
the suburb rise from a small log
house settlement to a thriving res-
idential and industrial center.
Mrs. Sahr is survived by four
daughters, Mrs. Edward Rosseau,
Barker; Miss Eleanor Sahr, Mrs.
Louis Newman and Mrs. Otto Neumann;
three sons, Frederick, Gustave
and Christopher, all of North
Tonawanda; seven grandchildren,
four great grandchildren and . a
brother, Aaron Richert, Stillwater,
Minn.
The funeral will be held Sunday
afternoon at 2 o'clock at the
residence and half an hour later.

Paul's church. Rev. F. A. Hinner;
will officiate and burial will be
in St. Paul's cemetery.

Mrs. Munkelwitz Funeral Tuesday
Mrs. Laura Munkelwitz of 516 N. Eighth St., Bayport, passed away at her home Saturday morning, Feb. 8, after a long illness. Mrs. Munkelwitz was born in Baytown township Aug. 10, 1904 and was married to Erick Munkelwitz June 25, 1925, at Lake Elmo. They have lived in Bayport for 30 years. Surviving are her husband, one son, Ronald of Bayport; Mrs. Robert MacAlister of Imperial Beach, Cal.; Mrs. Edwin Wikfors of Englewood, N.J., and Karen of Bayport; her mother, Mrs. Ernest Wendt; one brother Leonard Wendt of Stillwater, and one sister, Mrs. William Mariana of Bayport. Three grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran church at Bayport. The Rev. Alf Wattman will officiate. The body will lie in state at the church one hour before the service. Interment will be made in Hazelwood cemetery. Friends may call at the Jones Funeral home.

Warren E. Haseley of Port Washington passed to his eternal rest on October 20, 2018 at the age of 96. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Bernice (Antoine) of Port Washington, daughter Susan (Keith) Campbell of Richfield, and sons Gary (Debra) of Port Washington and Warren (Marjorie) of Mt. Prospect, IL. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, sister Nancy (Paul) Swatek of Lake Geneva, and brothers Donald (Lillian) Haseley of Port Washington and Eugene (the late Betty) Haseley of Lake Geneva. Preceding him in death are two sons, Dean and Gregory, sisters Adene Haseley, Carol (the late Lawrence) Entress and Phyllis (the late Gerald) Klopp, brother Leonard “Skip” (Betty Jane) Haseley, as well as many friends and other family members. Warren was born in Lake Elmo, Minnesota, on February 17, 1922. His family moved to the Jackson/Cedarburg area before settling in Port Washington, where he graduated from high school. Warren was active in many sports and the high school band. After graduation, he entered the Army Air Corps and was stationed in San Angelo, Texas. After discharge, he attended LaCrosse State Teachers College where he was first chair trumpet in the college band. Warren graduated with a bachelor’s degree in physical education and recreation, and later went on to receive a master’s degree in Administration from Roosevelt University in Chicago. He and Bernice were married on June 17, 1950, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Lake Church, in the Town of Belgium. Warren taught at Southern Colony in Union Grove before he found a teaching position in Waukegan, IL, at Thomas Jefferson Junior High School. He taught physical education, health, and coached basketball for fourteen years before being offered an assistant principal’s position at Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Port Washington in 1968. Mr. Haseley retired from education in 1986, after spending 33 years educating and nurturing teachers and students. In retirement, Warren was active in many senior programs in Port Washington: he served on the Senior Citizen Counsel, played senior softball and started the senior horseshoes’ program in town. His love of music was very important to him; Warren was a charter member of the Ozaukee County Barbershop Chorus, and played his trumpet in the New Horizons Senior band. He and Bernice delivered Meals-on-Wheels for thirty years and he also volunteered for fish fries at his parish, St. John XXIII in Port. Warren was also a longtime member of the Van Ells-Schanen American Legion Post 82 in Port Washington.
Warren and Bernice were fortunate to travel to Hawaii and Austria, as well as many cities in the United States. He always expressed disbelief that he actually walked the paths in the Alps. He was amazed at all life had given him.
Warren’s wife and family would like to express their deep gratitude to all the friends and family for the support and love over the last year. Special appreciation and admiration is given to the caregivers and nurses of Harbor Club/Cove; their kindness and compassion will never be forgotten. The family also thanks Heartland Hospice, especially Ann, who took such good care of the entire family, especially Dad, and helped them understand and accept this difficult journey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, October 25th at St. John XXIII-St. Peter of Alcantara Church, 1800 N. Wisconsin St., Port Washington; Father Patrick Wendt will preside. Mass will be followed by Military Honors before processing to St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Washington, for interment. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Thursday from 11:30AM until services at 1PM, with a Legion walk-through scheduled to begin at 12:30PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Warren’s name can be sent to his favorite charities: American Heart Association and Special Olympics of Ozaukee County. Leonard Haseley or "Skip" as he was called by all who knew him passed away Tuesday, September 10th. He was born in Jackson, Wisconsin to Eugene and Agnes Haseley in1927. He has loved living in Paw Paw for almost 20 years with his wife of almost 65 years, Betty Jane, and close to his daughter Peggy and her family in Portage. Skip spent most of his early years ,the middle child in a family of 7 children, growing up in Port Washington, Wisconsin. Right out of High School he enlisted in the Navy and was sent to the Pacific theater. After his discharge he came back to Port Washington and married Betty Jane Kirsch whom he had dated in high school. They soon gave birth to a son, David. But, life took a twist and Skip was called back into to the Navy and sent back to the Pacific for the Korean War. Guess they figured he knew the Pacific. After the Korean War he was again discharged and this time for good. He came back to his young family in Port Washington and got a job at the local power company. Skip was not satisfied with being confined inside all day, not to mention working the all too often night shift. During this time Skip and Betty Jane gave birth to daughter Peggy. With his friendly personality and love of people, sales is where he felt he needed to be. One of his brothers was working at a local car dealership and said they were looking for salesmen. Skip jumped at the opportunity. Skip loved spending time with his family so after a few years of working weekends and evenings one of his other brothers, who was working for a lawn and garden manufacturer, encouraged him to pursue a sales position selling lawn and garden equipment. He would spend the next 30 years working in this industry as a successful, much liked and respected sales manager. When he retired from MTD in Cleveland at age 67 he and Betty Jane decided to move back to the central Michigan area where they had once lived and where Peggy & Gary and grandson Shain and his wife Sarah currently reside. Skip loved to sing and for many years sang with the Barber Shoppers. Everyone in the family who received a call from Skip on their birthday also got an added bonus of hearing "Happy Birthday" sung to them. He always had a melody in his voice and a song in his heart. Skip loved seeing his family, all of them, and when living in Port Washington where most lived, he and the family would spend the day visiting them all whether they wanted to or not. Skip is survived by his wife Betty Jane, son David and wife Jenny of Easton, MD, daughter Peggy and husband Gary of Portage, MI, grandson Alexander Haseley and wife Courtney, great granddaughter Avery of Paris, France, grandson Shain and wife Sarah of Scotts, MI. In addition, he is survived by brothers Warren, Donald and Eugene and sisters Phyllis, Carol and Nancy all from Wisconsin. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 13th from 2 to 3pm, at Life Story Funeral Home, 409 S. Main, Vicksburg (269-649-1697). The funeral service will be on Friday at 3pm at the same location. Skip will be buried with military honors at Fort Custer National Cemetery.

Mr. Donald Haseley, of Port Washington, passed away with his family by his side at Aurora Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa. He was 93 years old. Don was born in Kirchhayn, WI, on July 4, 1928, son of Eugene Haseley and Agnes Richert Haseley. The family moved to the Port Washington area, where Donald graduated from Port Washington High School with the class of 1946. After high school, Don served his country in the United States Army, playing trumpet in the 421st Army Band. He was honorably discharged in 1951. On October 9, 1954, Don married Lillian Wagner at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Barton. The couple settled in Port Washington to start their family. The couple were married for 64 years before Lillian preceded him in death in 2019. Don was the proud owner and operator of the Gamble's Store in Port Washington for many years. Later, he worked for Schmidt Bros. Dodge until his retirement. He was very active in his community, where he was a former member of the Port Washington Chamber of Commerce, the Port Washington Police and Fire Commission, and the Port Washington Kiwanis Club. Don was an active member of the American Legion Van Ells-Schanen Post 82 where he was a post commander (twice) and also a member of Post 5373 Veterans of Foreign Wars. For over 60 years, Don proudly served as Bugler for local honor guards, playing Taps whenever called upon for fellow veteran's funerals. Don is a current member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Grafton and a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Port Washington. Don is survived by his six children: Jeanne (Joe) Kunzelmann of Mt. Juliet, TN, Donald "Jim" (Maribeth) Haseley of Saugatuck, MI, Lori (Mike) Lanser of Sheboygan, Richard (Mary Kay) Haseley of Windemere, FL, Diane (Mike) Trowbridge of Hartford, and Robin (Jay) Hommel of Greer, SC. He is further survived by eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, his siblings Nancy (Paul) Swatek and Eugene Haseley both of Lake Geneva, a sister-in-law Bernice Haseley of Port Washington, other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lillian, three sisters and two brothers. Private family funeral services will be held. He will be laid to rest with military honors at St. Mary's Parish Cemetery, Port Washington.

Carol A. Entress, (Nee Haseley) of Grafton, died peacefully surrounded by her family at Angels Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc, on October 13, 2015 at the age of 83. Carol was born in Port Washington, WI on August 9, 1932 the daughter of the late Eugene and Agnes (Nee Richter) Haseley. On June 12, 1954 Carol was united in marriage to the late Lawrence “Red” Entress at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Port Washington. Carol was a founding member of the Cedarburg Garden Club, and was active in Bible studies and gourmet club. She loved her music appreciation classes and was happiest with family around her. She loved gardening and was always generous with sharing plants from her spectacular gardens. She found her greatest joy with family - siblings, children and grandchildren. Her blue eyes, infectious smile and positive personality will be missed by many. Carol is survived by her loving children: Jeffrey (Patricia) Entress & Jill (Richard) Cooper; grandchildren: Emily (Ryan) Clark, Carolyn & Alec Entress; Kaitlyn, Carly & James Cooper; brothers: Warren (Bernice) Haseley, Eugene (Betty Ann) Haseley and Donald (Lillian) Haseley; and her sister, Nancy (Duke) Swatek. NORTH TONAWANDA - Benjamin G. Sattelberg, 54, of 100 Old Niagara Falls Boulevard, died unexpectedly Sunday evening (April 29, 1962) after suffering a heart attack at St. Martin Lutheran Church. A lifelong resident of this city, Mr. Sattelberg was employed for the last 23 years as a sales representative for the Block Radio and Television Co. He was a member of St. Martin Church and of its brotherhood, of which he was a past officer. He served as organist for the church for many years and was assistant organist at his death. Mr. Sattelberg also was a former teacher in the church Sunday school and was chairman of the church stewardship committee and a member of its building committee. In 1954, he was elected a member of the stewardship committee of the Eastern District, American Lutheran Church, and served for two terms. He was a member of the Lions Club of the Tonawandas. Surviving are his widow, Adelaide E. Thiele Sattelberg; a son, Ronald E. Sattelberg; a grandson, Jonathan Sattelberg, both of Webster; and his stepmother, Mrs. Ella Sattelberg, this city. Friends may call at the Hamp Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday by Rev. Luther L. Knauff, pastor of St. Martin Church. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Park.

(January 31, 1979) at Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo after a brief illness. A native of North Tonawanda, he had been a resident of Tonawanda for the past 32 years and was the son of Edgar F. Stolzenburg who died in 1969 and brother of Robert E. Stolzenburg who died in 1970. Mr. Stolzenburg was a partner in the Delbert Printing and Stationery Co. in Tonawanda for 18 years and in 1967 joined the Sterling C. Sommer, Inc. staff in Tonawanda. GIESE - Velma A. (nee Stolzenburg) age 97 of North Tonawanda, passed away June 30, 2023 at her residence under the care of Hospice. Wife of 58 years to the late Alton C. Giese who died in 2006, mother of Priscilla “PJ” (Robert) Parkhurst, Marcia L. Giese and Nancy L. (Steven) Roberts, grandmother of Sara (Scott), Matthew (NaCole), Erin and Justin (Jennifer) and great-grandmother of Garret, Gabriel, Caleb and Nikolas, daughter of the late Edgar and Helen Stolzenburg and sister of the late Raymond and Robert Stolzenburg. Also many nieces and nephews. Velma was a graduate of North Tonawanda High School. She was a Life Member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and a member of the Ladies Aid of the church. Velma was also a volunteer of the North Tonawanda Interfaith Food Pantry. Kenny is survived by his wife Jane (Thompson) Hoefert, father of Kenneth F. Hoefert, III; Brooklyn, and Shawn, son of Diane (Dan) Wysko, and the late Kenneth F. Hoefert, Sr.; brother of Darcy (Bob) Black,Son in law of Allen (Shirley) Thompson, also surviving are many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
