Mrs. Clara Schnoor Dies In Newfane At 81
NEWFANE - Mrs. Clara (Donner) Schnoor, 81, of 6096 Karen Ave., widow of Walter Schnoor, died Monday at Inter-Community Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born in Wilson on Sept. 14, 1891, she was a daughter of William and Bertha (World) Donner, and had been resident here for the past 18 years. She formerly resided on Ide Road, Wilson. Mr. Schnoor died in April 1953. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church here. Surviving are a daughter and son, Miss Ruth Schnoor of Newfane and Lawrence W. Canadice:  On September 26, 2019, at age 91, Buzz passed peacefully at his home on Honeoye Lake.  Predeceased by his parents William & Ida (Donner) Geartz and seven siblings.  Survived by his wife of 69 years Mary Ann (Estony) Geartz; children, Gerrett (Melinda) Geartz and Nancy (Barry) Nagel all of Canadice; grandchildren, Jennie (Michael) Ott, Tyler (Kala Stein) Nagel, Taber Geartz, Elisabeth (Robb) Delisanti, Caitlin (Michael) Conklin, Jared Nagel, Todd (Jennifer) Geartz, Catherine (Joel) West, and Jordan Nagel; 10 great-grandchildren; many loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Born in 1928 at the family farm in Ransomville, NY, Buzz was the youngest of eight children.  From a young age Buzz was taught the core values of Faith, Family, and Hard Work; principles he lived by throughout his life and would impart on generations to follow.
In 1946 at the age of 17 Buzz enlisted in the United States Marine Corp where he served until 1948 and later in the Korean War for two years. During this time he married Mary Ann, his high school sweetheart and love of his life.
Buzz was a dedicated husband and father.  He prided himself on being a provider for his family.  Always an extremely hard working individual Buzz had many jobs, sometimes three at a time to support his wife and family. He worked at the farm, local factories, dry cleaning deliveries, as a Bardahl Oil salesman and finally as an ironworker where his skills matched the requirements of the trade.
His passion and strength in leading others enabled him to quickly move through the ranks. In 1963 Buzz started Tri-Steel Construction and grew it into the largest reinforcing steel contractor in Western New York.
Many people do not know that Buzz was also a gifted auctioneer, a skill learned from his father who did household auctions in the Wilson, NY area. At one time the auctioneering business was growing so fast that he had to make a decision on which business to continue.
Buzz loved sports, boating, gardening and most of all his grandchildren. In his retirement years many Honeoye residents would see Buzz teaching his grandkids the value of hard work  at Honeoye Commons, where he maintained the landscaping and utilized them as his crew.
Buzz called many places home over his lifetime – Ransomville, Newfane, Pittsford, Honeoye and Marco Island. He loved Honeoye and the many friendships he cultivated.  He was active with the Honeoye Lake Rotary and hosted Camp Honeoye for many years.  He was an engaged member of the Marco Island Lutheran church and never missed an opportunity to volunteer and share his faith with others.
He was blessed to be surrounded in his final year by wonderful caregivers who offered unparalleled love and support for both Buzz and his entire family.

WILSON — Ruth Caroline Shaffer, 89, died peacefully on Monday, November 21, 2011 at Viera Hospital. She was born on May 1, 1922 in Newfane, NY, to Walter M. and Lena (Donner) Rohring.



Ruth grew up on farms in Wilson, NY. After graduation from high school, she worked at Moore Business Forms in Niagara Falls. She served in the Women's Army Corps from 1945 to 1946 working in hospitals. On July 12, 1947 she married James C. Shaffer. They spent most of their life in Lewiston, NY. Ruth continued her education after starting a family. She graduated from Trott Vocational High School's practical nursing program and then worked as an LPN at Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital until retirement. She was a member of the former Hope Lutheran Church, Town of Niagara and its Ladies Guild. In 1993, she and her husband moved to Melbourne, FL. In Florida she did respite volunteer work and enjoyed making crafts at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer where she was a member.



Ruth is survived by her devoted family, including husband, James Shaffer; daughter Barbara of Arizona, Daughter Diane (Bernard) of California; son, Gary (Jane) of Maine; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; also survived by brothers, Donald of Largo, FL and Allen (Anne) of Wilson, NY; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. Ruth leaves behind special friends, Jeanette Kroening and Huguette Pyska. She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Walter; and great-granddaughter, Lyla Pyska.



There will be a visitation from 2-3 PM on Sunday, November 27th at Florida Memorial Funeral Home, where a funeral service will begin at 3 PM in the chapel. Entombment will be at Florida Memorial Gardens. Eighty-eight full years of being a farmer, United States Marine, business owner, 40 years as a Gideon, member of First Baptist Church in Wilson, and someone who never retired. That is the legacy that Allen Rohring left to us. He was a man of faith who loved his Lord, his family, those in jail and those in need. His acts of generosity will be remembered and carried on for generations to come. One of his favorite Bible verses was Ephesians 2:8-9: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast.”

He will be missed but never forgotten by his family: precious wife of 65 years, Anne (Goodman) and children Peter (Lezlee), Thomas (Janell), JoAnne Bradford (Bud), Jeffrey (Janet), Rodney (Ann) and Steven (Laura), as well as 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Ruth B. Sheehan passed away on December 23, 2012 at her home under the care of Niagara Hospice and her step-daughter-in-law, Patricia Sheehan. Born in Wilson on February 10, 1918, she was the daughter of Walter and Clara (Donner) Schnoor.
She worked in production for 36 years at Newfane Felt. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Charles Sheehan, in 1988.

A member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, she volunteered at the church’s Bazaar and other activities. Other interests included travel to several states, reading and an avid football fan. 
Beloved mother of Michael Snell and Edward (Lynne) Snell. Sister-in-law of Wilma Snell. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

TOWN OF WHEATFIELD — Ruth E. Pohl (nee Wittkop), age 76, of the Town of Wheatfield, Saturday, February 25, 2012. Ruth Pohl left this life to join her beloved husband, the late Arthur Pohl. She was born March 10, 1935, the daughter of the late Edward and Minnie Wittkop. She retired after 30 years from Riley Gear Corp. where she worked as an administrative assistant. A lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, she volunteered in many activities such as the annual Trash and Treasures. Other interests included traveling internationally, reading and crocheting.

Beloved mother of Patricia Pohl and Sandra (Matthew) Murphy, she is survived by her sister, Esther Snell; sister-in-law, Jan Seloske and brother-in-law, Robert (Rosemary) Pohl; dear friend, Nancy Babb; as well as nieces and nephews.

No prior visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Thursday, March 1, 2012, at 11:00 AM, at Fretthold Funeral Home, 1241 Oliver Street at Ward Rd., in North Tonawanda, to be followed by internment at White Chapel Cemetery. He was a member of the
U.S. Marine Corps from 1967
to Febrcary of this year
serving a tour of chity in
Vietnam. Mr. Rohring was an
employe of Harrison Radiator
Inc. in Lockpoet.
Surviving in addition to his
parents are two brothers,
Terry Rohring of Ransomville
and David Rohring serving
with the Armed Forces in

Funeral services will be

Burial will be in Glenwood
Cemetery, Lockport.

Eric M. “Rick” Rohring, age 70, of Ransomville passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at home under the care of Niagara Hospice. Rick was born on November 8, 1951, in Niagara Falls, NY. He is the son of the late Walter G. and the late Lorraine (Shortz) Rohring Jr. He graduated from Lew-Port CSD class of 1969. In December of 1969 he completed a vocational trade program as a service station auto mechanic. He married Charlene Shook on December 4, 1971. In 1982 Rick joined the Ironworkers apprenticeship program with the Ironworkers Union LOCAL # 9 of Niagara Falls, NY accomplishing 40 years of service. Rick owned and operated a 50-acre farm in Ransomville raising beef cattle and vegetable crops for 35 plus years with his wife.Surviving is his wife of 50 years, Charlene; his sisters, Carolyn Rohring, Bonnie Rohring and Karen Kobel; Nephews; Chris Burek, Eric Freberg, Jason Freberg, Shawn Tussing; Niece, Jennifer (Tim) Bagovich; Great Nephews, Andrew and Matthew Bagovich; a brother-in-law, William P. Neil J. Demmin, age 69, of Cambria died unexpectedly following a house fire on Wednesday, October 12th, 2022, at his home. Neil was born November 14th, 1952, in Niagara Falls, NY. He is the son of the late Clifford and the late Mabel (Gotts) Demmin. He was employed by the Union Sun & Journal and Niagara Gazette, first as a maintenance worker and then moving to the mailroom. October 26, 1952 — November 14, 2023

(Middleport) Brent R. Ginty at age 71 passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, after a fierce three-year battle with an extremely aggressive form of Alzheimer’s Disease.
 
He was born October 26, 1952, in Lockport, a son of the late Henry Eugene and
Jeanette Bertha (Donner) Ginty.
 
After his 1970 graduation from Royalton-Hartland Central School, Brent served proudly in the New York Army National Guard from 1972-1978. He volunteered for over 30 years for the American Red Cross in Orleans County. He was a First Aid and CPR instructor and an instructor trainer. He was also a member of the Disaster Action Team, responding to local disasters, and took the
lead for the chapter during the 9/11 response. He was a life member and volunteer for Tri-Town Ambulance for 17 years and served several years as president. When his sons were young, he was active in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and never missed their sporting events. He attended most sporting events. for his grandchildren. Brent retired from Harrison Radiator (Delphi) in Lockport after 30
years, where he worked as a Forklift Operator. He enjoyed fast cars and the freedom of his motorcycle, bowling, golfing, hunting, camping, and being in the center of any party or family gathering. But most of all, he loved spending time.
with his family, especially his grandchildren. He never turned down an Ice-Cold Beer.
 
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Darlene L. (Childs) whom he married on December 17, 1977; sons Regan K. Ginty, Middleport; Eric D. (Stacey) Dodge, Middleport; Craig S. (Hollie) Dodge, Mullica Hill, NJ, and Jason A. (Lisa) Dodge,
Lockport; grandchildren Curtis (Kristen) Rucker, Mantua, NJ; Alyssa (fiancée Tyler Measel) Dodge, Woodstown, NJ; Austin (Heidi) Dodge, Boston, NY; Hannah Dodge, Middleport; Mikayla (Patrick Smith) Dodge, Philadelphia, PA; Colin Dodge, Erie PA, Evan Dodge, Arlington, MA, Tanner Dodge, Mullica Hill, NJ, Mackenzie Dodge and Hailey Dodge, Lockport; great-grandchildren Peyton Epke, Andrew and Emily Rucker, Mantua, NJ; a brother Dale (Diane) Ginty, Conway, SC, Sister Rita (Salvatore) Liuzzi & Family, Gasport; a brother-in-law Keith E. His Celebration of Life will be held at the Middleport Fire Department, 28 Main St., Middleport NY 14105 on Friday, December 1, 2023, at 7:00 PM.
