The deceased is survived by, his wife, Bertha Milleville DeVantier; one daughter, Mrs. Hubert Haseley of Sanborn 1 two sons, Edwin at home and Benjamin De Vantler of Sanborn. Esther L. Haseley Lived in Town of Niagara 65 Years
Esther L. Haseley of Lockport Road in the Town of Niagara died yesterday (May 27, 1984) in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center after a long illness. She was 91. She was a native of the Town of Wheatfield and had lived in the Town of Niagara for the last 65 years. She was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore. Survivors include sons, Raymond and Reuben, both of the Town of Niagara; daughters, Mrs. Howard (Elverna) Catlin and Mrs. William (Doris) Davis, both of the Town of Niagara; a brother, Edwin DeVantier, of the Town of Wheatfield; 25 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was the daughter of the late Frederick and Bertha (Millville) DeVantier and the wife of the late Hubert Haseley, who died in 1974. She also was the mother of the late Milton and Glenn Haseley and sister of the late Benjamin DeVantier. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the Rhoney Funeral Home, 5893 Hoover Road, Sanborn. Farmer Dies as a Result of Fall
Benjamin P. DeVantier, 41 years old, native of Sanborn and well known Ward road farmer, died in the Memorial hospital here this morning of injuries suffered last Thursday when he fell a short distance in his barn. Mr. DeVantier suffered a fractured skull and other injuries when a board broke as he was replacing some flooring and he was precipitated about eight feet.
The funeral will be held from the family home in the Ward road, Sanborn, at 2 p. m., daylight saving time, Wednesday, and from the Holy Ghost Lutheran church, Bergholtz, at 2:30 p. m. with the Rev. John Kuckenbecker officiating. Burial will be in Bergholtz cemetery.
Surviving Mr. DeVantier are his wife Esther Walck DeVantier; a daughter, Thelma may, and a son Dennis DeVantier, all of Sanborn; a brother, Edwin DeVantier, Wheatfield, and a sister, Mrs. Hubert Hasely (sic), of the Town of Niagara. Mr. DeVantier was a son of Mrs. Bertha Devantier and the late Fred DeVantier, of Sanborn.

WHEATFIELD - Hilda R. Grawe of Niagara Falls Boulevard died unexpectedly Sunday in DeGraff Skilled Nursing Facility, North Tonawanda. She was 84.
A Wheatfield native, the former Hilda DeVantier was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she attended Bible class and services and spent time playing cards with the "Rook Gang." She also was a member of St. John's Ladies Aid and the Altar Guild and the Wheatfield Senior Citizens.
Her husband, Allan P., died in 1982.

ELTON C. DeVANTIER, age 89 of Wheatfield, New York, was called peacefully to his heavenly home, to be with his Lord and Savior, on April 11, 2019, while at the Northgate Health Care Facility. Born October 18, 1929 in the Town of Wheatfield, New York, son of the late Edwin and Lily (Haseley) DeVantier. Elton served in the United States Army from 1954-1956. He was employed at L.B. Smith, Syracuse Supply, Dow & Company, Haseley Trucking, and Sevenson Environmental, where he retired from. Elton was a lifelong member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wheatfield, where he served as trustee and elder. Hobbies and interests included hunting, fishing, and the quality time spent with his family at home and camp.
Beloved husband of 63 years, Barbara (Schaffer) DeVantier. They were united in marriage on August 6, 1955; beloved dad of Randy (Sara) DeVantier of Wheatfield, Brian DeVantier of Wheatfield, and Robert (Alyson) DeVantier of Vestal, NY; a brother, Melvin (Gail) DeVantier of Wheatfield; sister-in-law, Marion Schaffer; dearly loved by his grandchildren, Lauren, Brooke, Ethan Dietz, Cole,and Kera Jane; and several nieces and nephews.
Elton was predeceased by a brother, Franklin DeVantier; and two sisters, Hilda Grawe and Alice Marzahl.
Friends are invited to join with the family, for a memorial service, officiated by the Rev. Michael Borgstede, on Saturday, April 20, at 10:00 a.m. in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, corner Niagara Falls Blvd. and Ward Road in Wheatfield. LEWISTON — Elverna G. Catlin, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed away on Monday, January 14, 2013, in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence, Lewiston, NY.

She was born in the Town of Niagara, on February 5, 1923, the daughter of the late Hubert and Esther (DeVantier) Haseley.

Elverna was a sales associate with the Sample Dress Shop in the Mil-Pine Plaza for 22 years, and was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church.

Elverna got her greatest joy spending time with the family, especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughters.

She was the wife of the late Howard W. Catlin, who died in May of 2002.

Elverna is survived by her beloved son, Gary W. (Carol) Catlin of Sanborn, NY; her dearest grandchildren, Cheryl (Robert) Steingasser, Lori Milleville and David (Anna) Catlin; and her much loved great-granddaughters, Kimberly Milleville and Natalie Catlin; one sister, Doris (William) Davis; a sister-in-law, Alice Haseley. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Raymond Haseley, Milton (late Doris) Haseley, Reuben (late Lois) Haseley and Glenn Haseley.

The family will be present on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY, where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Raymond E. Haseley, 78, of Town of Niagara, died Saturday, June 7, 2003, in the Buffalo General Hospital, after a lengthy illness.
He was a life long resident of the Town of Niagara, born on the family farm, on, July 21, 1924, the son of Hubert D. and Esther L. [ DeVantier ] Haseley. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith, in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, in Sanborn, NY. Ray grew up on the family farm, and attended the LaSalle High School and was a graduate of the Trott Vocation High School, in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, in 1942. He was employed at the Dairylea Dairy for 30 years, leaving in 1977, to continue working his second job at Haseley Trucking Company, where he had been employed for 30 years, prior to his retirement, in 1988.
He was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church, in Niagara Falls, where he was an Elder and council member for many years. He was also a member of Teamsters Local 449. Ray enjoyed to traveling, taking his wife and his 13 children, on many camping trips. His home was always open to his family and friends, at any time. The friendships were plentiful and the celebrations were always happening at his home.
His greatest joy in recent years were his grandchildren and great grandchildren, having them over and going to share the many sporting school experiences.
Surviving is his devoted wife of 57 years the former Alice Gordon, and 13 children, Gordon [ Sharen ] Haseley; Russell [ Barbara ] Haseley; Robert [ Dale ] Haseley; Sandra [ Donald ] Slusser; Barbara [ Bruce ] Haseley; Deborah [ John ] Galleciez; Joyce [ William ] Schimschack; Brenda [ Jeffery ] Marohn; Gregory [ Vickie ] Haseley; Jeffery [ Kathleen ] Haseley; Kevin [ Lori Sornberger ] Haseley; Glenn [ Bonnie Burns ] Haseley; Brent [ Deborah ] Haseley; brother-in-law, Gary Gordon; two sisters, Elverna [ late Howard] Catlin; Doris [ William ] Davis; sister-in-law, Lois Haseley; brother-in-law Edward [ Ruth ] Gordon; also survived by 25 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Milton H. Haseley
TOWN OF NIAGARA- Milton H. (Mike) Haseley, 51, of 10315 Lockport Road, was pronounced dead on arrival at Mount Saint Mary's Hospital Friday (Sept. 9, 1977) after being stricken with an apparent heart attack at his home.
He was a life-long resident of the Town of Niagara where he had attended local schools.
He was the president of the Haseley Trucking Co. Inc., which he had operated since the early 1940s. He was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Operating Engineers Local 463, the Niagara County Truck Owners Association, the Judges and Police Association of Niagara County and he was an honorary member of the Sanborn Volunteer Fire Co.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Kelly Haseley, one son, Mark Haseley, one daughter, Marilyn Haseley; his mother, Mrs. Esther Haseley; two brothers, Raymond, and Reuben; two sisters, Mrs. Howard (Elverna) Catlin and Mrs. William (Doris) Davis. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Paul F. Wittenberg officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery. TOWN OF NIAGARA - Reuben E, Haseley, 64, of Lockport Road, , died Monday (Oct. 12, 1992) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Town of Lewiston, of a heart attack.
Born in the Town of Niagara to Hubert and Esther (DeVantier) Haseley, he was a lifelong resident of the town, where he operated his father's family farm. He also worked in the family trucking business.
He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Brethren Church in North Tonawanda where he was an elder. Haseley loved hunting, gardening and family life.

Born in the Town of Wheatfield on May 23, 1933; son of the late Benjamin and Esther (Walck) DeVantier. Dennis was a life long member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, Bergholz, a graduate of Niagara Falls High School, class of 1951, and served in the United States Army from 1953-1955. He was employed at General Abrasives as an Electrician for approximately 42 years, until his retirement. Dennis was one of the better fastpitch softball pitchers in the area, and played competitively into his 50's. A memorial service will be arranged for Daniel A. Grawe, a truck driver, who died July 15 in Erie County Medical Center, Buffalo, after a motorcycle accident in Depew. He was 56. The Niagara Falls native was a graduate of Niagara-Wheatfield High School, Sanborn. Mr. Grawe was an Army veteran who served in Korea.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycling, gardening, camping and traveling.
Mr. Grawe was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Newfane.
He was a driver for ABF Freight of the Town of Tonawanda.
His minister, the Rev. Wayne Jagow, said family members are staying by the side of his wife of 32 years, the former Franziska Hepper, who was injured in the same accident.
Mr. Grawe also is survived by three daughters, Melissa Lemieux of Arlington, Vt., Nicole of Niagara Falls and Jennifer of Denver; and twin sisters, Margaret Failing and Martha Darlak, both of Wheatfield.

A Niagara Falls man whose motorcycle was struck by a car in Depew died early Thursday in Erie County Medical Center, leaving his family mourning his death and maintaining its vigil for his wife, who was critically injured in the same collision.
Daniel A. Grawe, 56, of Niagara Falls Boulevard, who was driving the motorcycle, died at 2:20 a.m., after he had taken a turn for the worse the night before.
His wife, Franziska, 52, remained in critical condition in the medical center.
"My heart just goes out to their three daughters," said the Rev. Wayne F. Jagow, their minister at Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wilson. "They're grieving on one side and having hope on the other. What a tension, in terms of emotions."
The Grawes were riding their motorcycle in Depew on Monday when the vehicle was struck broadside by a car at George Urban Boulevard and Transit Road shortly before 11 p.m.
Witnesses have told police that the car went through a red light before striking the Grawes' motorcycle.
The driver of the car, Jacob A. Hirsch, 19, of Depew, has been charged with two counts of vehicular assault, authorities said. Other possible charges are pending.
Following the accident, family members converged on the Trauma Intensive Care Unit in ECMC, where Franziska Grawe remained sedated in one room with a severe head injury, while her nearby husband was conscious before his condition got worse.
"When we went up there, he was aware what was going on, even though he couldn't communicate," Jagow said. "His daughters explained that things were OK with Fran. At one point, he was getting very agitated, because he wanted more information on her."
Even after Daniel Grawe's death, the hospital vigil continued by his wife's bedside late Thursday.
"This is one layer of tragedy upon another layer," Jagow said. "No matter what happens with Fran, this is a family that has been shattered by an irresponsible act."

Gregory R. “Greg” Haseley, 66, of Sanborn, NY, passed away unexpectedly from heart failure.  Born on November 19, 1956 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Raymond E. and Alice (Gordon) Haseley.  On August 5, 2011, Greg married MaryEllen (Nowak) Sloma Haseley.

Greg was a lifelong area resident and graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School.  On January 27, 2012 he retired from the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #463, working at Niagara Stone/Lafarge and most recently he worked for KWH and Wendt's Propane.  Greg and his wife were members of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Sanborn.  He was a life member of Pekin Volunteer Fire Company as well as Tri-Community Ambulance Services.  Greg also was active in the American Legion Post #1451 in Sanborn.  He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed camping at Niagara's Lazy Lakes Camping Resort and dancing the night away when 90 West preformed.  Above all, Greg had a generous and loving heart and would go above an beyond to help others.  He absolutely adored his grandkids.

Greg graciously anatomically donated to help others through ConnectLife, Blood and Organ Donor Network.

Robert E. Haseley, 74, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed away on May 30, 2023 at Buffalo General Medical Center.  Born on December 7, 1948 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Raymond E. and Alice (nee Gordon) Haseley.  On March 20, 1971, Bob married Dale Hilts.

Bob was a lifelong area resident and graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School.  He proudly served in the United States Army from November 18, 1968, until his honorable discharge on March 30, 1969.  On July 14, 1974, Bob fulfilled his service from the Army National Guard.  In 2007, he retired from the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #463, working at Niagara Stone/LaFarge for 40 years. Bob was a lifelong avid Buffalo Bills fan.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #1451 in Sanborn, LaSalle Yacht Club and the Lower Niagara Moose Lodge #584 in Lewiston.  Bob enjoyed boating and especially spending Wednesday nights with the boys.  Above all family was everything to Bob.

Sandra’s career was spent working for Sears, Radatron and Glarban.  She was a lifelong member of Calvary Lutheran Church as well as St. James Lutheran Church.  Sandra enjoyed attending her nieces and nephews activities, with their friends, who lovingly knew her as “Aunt Sandy.”  Above all, she loved spending time with her family.

He owned the trucking company founded by his father, from 1978 to 2002, when he passed it to his son.
Mr. Haseley was an avid sportsman and a fan of the Buffalo Bills and Sabres and NASCAR auto racing.

Bergholz teen dies in ATV accident
WHEATFIELD - Matthew B. Haseley, 14, of Stoelting Street, Bergholz, died Saturday (July 27,1991) from injuries he suffered in an all terrain vehicle accident. The Niagara Falls native was a graduate of Holy Ghost Lutheran School and was a member of the Luther League. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, where he was a acolyte and was confirmed in May. Haseley played basketball and soccer and was a member of the NW AA wrestling team. He was a paper carrier for the Niagara Gazette and worked for Pfohl's farm. He is survived by his parents, Bruce and Barbara. Haseley of Bergholz; a sister, Michele Haseley of Bergholz; three grandparents; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by grandfather. Friends may call from 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz. The Rev. David B. Menz will conduct services at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. James Lutheran Church in Bergholz. Burial will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. James Lutheran Church.

Services for Matthew B. Haseley, a paper carrier and part-time farm worker who was killed Saturday when the all-terrain vehicle he was riding overturned, will be conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday in St. James Lutheran Church, 2437 Niagara Road.
Prayers will be said at 9 P.M. Tuesday at DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road. Burial will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery.

Born in Niagara Falls, Matthew attended Holy Ghost Lutheran School. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, where he was an acolyte and had been confirmed in May. He was a member of the Luther League.
Matthew was a paper carrier for the Niagara Gazette and worked part time at Pfohl's Farm. He also wrestled and played basketball and soccer.

Life Story


The world lost a beautiful soul, Blake Austin Chaffee, also known as Buford, 22, of the Town of Niagara, NY. He went home to be with his ‘Pa’ and his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on January 7, 2023.  Born on September 25, 2000 in Williamsville, NY, he was the son of Michael Chaffee and Deena L. (Marohn) Chaffee.

 
Buford graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School in 2018. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Bergholz. He was employed by KWH where he worked for his Uncle, Kevin Haseley, CPM, WNY Mobile Home and Jim’s Trucking and Paving.  Most importantly, because of his vast knowledge and kindness, at a moments notice he would help anyone with anything, be it a phone call or even someone stranded on the side of the road. He spent numerous hours in the garage with his 'Pa', Jeff Marohn, learning so many things.  His mind that never stopped truly made him a 'jack-of-all-trades.’

 
In addition to his beloved parents, Blake is survived by his brother, Gage (Lisa Dussault) Chaffee; fur siblings, Ryder, Ninja and CJ; fur niece, Oakley, who he affectionally called 'sunglasses'; grandparents, Brenda (late Jeff) Marohn and Karen Chaffee and Gary Chaffee and way to many special aunts, uncles and cousins to list by name.  He will be forever in the hearts of his family and friends, who he referred to as 'buddy', especially Chris Dingey, Paul Boyd and Jim Rose. He was predeceased by his treasured uncles, Doni and Bruce; his dog, Bailey; cat, Cashmere and so many dear relatives and friends.

 
Blake would not want you to be come dressed up.  Come as you are.  Carhartt's, jeans and work boots are preferred.

 
The family will be present to receive friends on Friday, from 4-8 p.m., at the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007).  Buford’s funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 14th, at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church on Niagara Road in Bergholz, with Rev. Randy Kaminska officiating.  Friends invited. Everyone assemble at the church.  Prayers of committal and interment will follow in St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery, Bergholz, NY.  Flowers gratefully declined. If desired, memorial offerings may be made to Daniel Koslicki Memorial Scholarship Fund.  Professional arrangements are under the care of the Goodlander family.
