A. F. Goerss Rites Slated
N 0 R T H TONAWANDA - Services for August F. Goerss, 86. of 44 Ransom St. who died Friday (Dec. 27, 1957) at DeGraff Memorial Hospital, will be conducted by the Rev. J. Walter Thiemecke at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Fretthold Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Mr Goerss was born in the Town of Wheatfield and lived the greater part of his life in this city. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and was a carpenter. He retired 15 years ago. Surviving are his wife Mrs. Louis Rung Goerss, three daughters, Mrs. Theodore Jagow, Niagara Falls, Mrs. Herbert A. Milleville and Mrs. Clarence Witkop, both of this city, two sons, Carl A. Goerss, and Norman W. Goerss of Lockport, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Ruth E. Milleville, 97, who enjoyed flower gardening, crocheting and refinishing furniture, died Wednesday (March 1, 2000) in CrestWood Health Care Center after a brief illness. Born Ruth Goerss in Wheatfield, she had been a resident of CrestWood since 1996. Her husband, Herbert A., died in 1982. Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Schroeder of Bergholz; a sister, Hilda Wittkop of Amherst; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 A.M. Friday in DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz. Burial will be in Wheatfield Cemetery.

Private grave side services were held today in Acacia Park Cemetery, Pendleton, for retired industrial worker Norman W. Goerss.
Goerss, 74, of Unicorn Drive, died Monday (Jan. 22, 1990) in DeGraff Memorial Hospital, North Tonawanda.
A native of Wheatfield, he worked for 45 years at National Grinding Wheel Co. in North Tonawanda. After he retired, he operated an upholstery business in his home.
Goerss was an Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth E. Strothman Goerss; a son, Terry of the Town of Cambria; two sisters, Ruth Milleville of Bergholz and Hilda Witkopp of North Tonawanda, and three grandsons

Joyce Carol Schroeder, age 89 of Wheatfield, NY, and formerly of Bergholz, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, on August 1, 2024 while at the Northgate Health Care Facility. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on December 26, 1934; daughter of the late Herbert "Harvey" and Ruth (Goerss) Milleville. A graduate of Niagara Falls High School, she had taught kindergarten at Holy Ghost Lutheran School, was employed at the Carborundum Company, and later with the New York State Power Authority. Joyce was a long time member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Bergholz, and was a member of the Parent Teachers League. She was also a past union steward with the IBEW. Joyce enjoyed traveling to Florida, California and Nevada; was a Buffalo Bills fan, collected glass figurines, and cherished the time spent with her grandchildren. She was an advocate and supported children with special needs. Survivors include three children, Sherryl (Ronald) Rimer of Grand Island, Christie (Michael) Scive of Sanborn, and Michael Schroeder (Melanie Pedersen) of Wilson; grandchildren, Michael Jr., Andrew, and Matthew Scive, Alina Jack, Robert Schroeder, Jennifer Baney and Jessica Lewis; two step-grandchildren, Isabel and Sophia Pedersen; great-grandchildren, Joshua Cheff, Simeon and Titus Baney, Gus and Ruthie Lewis. Preceded in death by her husband, Carl Schroeder in 1972; and a son, Kenneth Schroeder in 2010. A memorial service will be conducted by the Rev. Denton White, on Friday (August 9) at 7:00 p.m. in the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield. Arnold C. Goerss, of Sanborn, NY, passed away on Monday, February 25, 2008 at Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, NY.

He was born in North Tonawanda, NY on December 11, 1933, the son of the late Carl and Margaret [Ingwersen] Goerss.

Mr. Goerss attended school at Wheatfield #1, St Paul's Lutheran and Trott Vocational High School. He operated the family farm in Sanborn and was a foreman for the New York State Department of Transportation for 34 years, before retiring in 1994.

He was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda, the Pekin Fire Company and the Sanborn Historical Society. He enjoyed going to auctions and parades.

Mr. Goerss is survived by his wife of 50 years, Pearl [Kiser] Goerss, they were married on September 28, 1957, three sons, Stephen (Diane) Goerss of Lockport, Scott (Kimberly) Goerss of the Town of Wheatfield, and Arnold Goerss, Jr. of Sanborn, one daughter Susie (Charly) Kinne of Lockport, one sister, Arlene M. Goerss of the Town of Wheatfield, nine grandchildren Jenni (Nick) Paterson, Holly, Sabrina, Nathan, Heather, Amy, Stacey, Timothy and Hayden, he is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Private funeral services were held at the convenience of family at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with interment in North Ridge Cemetery, Town of Cambria, NY.

Arlene M. Goerss, of the Town of Wheatfield, NY, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2013, in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, NY. She was born in North Tonawanda, NY, on July 18, 1935, the daughter of the late Carl and Margaret (Ingwersen) Goerss.
Miss Goerss was a lifelong resident of the Town of Wheatfield. She had resided at Crestwood Health Care Center for the past several years, were she served as President of the Resident Council and volunteered for all types of events that took place there.
Miss Goerss is survived by her sister-in-law, Pearl Goerss; a niece, Susie (Charly) Kinne; three nephews, Stephen (Diane) Goerss, Scott (Kimberly) Goerss and Arnold Goerss, Jr.; also several great nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Arnold C. Goerss.

Kenneth C. Schroeder, age 57, of Bergholz, was called to his heavenly home, unexpectedly, on Thursday, February 11, 2010 in Sisters Hospital, Buffalo. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on November 14, 1952 to Carl and Joyce (Milleville) Schroeder. He attended Holy Ghost Lutheran School and graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School, Class of 1970. Ken continued his education, earning his Journeyman's Millwright degree. He was employed at Stoelting Machine from 1968-1973, Carborundum 1973-2002, afterwards at Ferro, and was presently employed as a mechanic with the Wheatfield Highway Department. Ken was a lifelong member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Bergholz, and a member of the Bergholz Fire Company. Hobbies included gardening, baseball and fishing.Survivors include his mother, Joyce Schroeder of Wheatfield; two sisters, Sherryl (Dana) Rimer of Bergholz and Christie (Michael) Scive of Wheatfield; a brother, Michael (Nicole) Schroeder of Ransomville; longtime loving companion, Judi Jagow of Bergholz; best friend, Christian DiRamio; and several nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Brian) Baney, Jessica Rimer, Michael Scive II, Andrew Scive, Matthew Scive, Alina Schroeder and Jack Schroeder. He was predeceased by his father, Carl Schroeder.Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road (Bergholz), in Wheatfield, on Sunday from 1-3 and 6-8 PM.
