John Milleville

John Milleville, 80 years old, one of the pioneer settlers of the town of
Wheatfield, dropped dead at his home in Bergholtz, a suburb of this city,
yesterday afternoon. Heart disease is attributed as the cause of death.
The deceased was born in Germany and came here 55 years ago, locating in
Wheatfield. Three daughters, Mrs. William Schmidt, Mrs. Christian Ferchen
and Mrs. Fred Devantier; three sons, John, William and Albert Milleville,
all of Bergholtz; three sisters, Mrs. Ferdinand Pfuhl, Mrs. William Haseley
and Mrs. Albert Walck and four brothers, August, William, Ferdinand and
Albert Williams all of the town of Wheatfield, survive. The funeral will be
held from the late home tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 o'clock and a half hour
later from the Grabau Lutheran church at Bergholtz. Burial will be at
Bergholtz.

SCHMIDT RITES
Esteemed Bergholtz Resident Is Laid to Her Final Rest.
BERGHOLTZ, April 16.-Funeral services for Mrs. William H. Schmidt, nee Albertine Milleville, 75 years old, who died Tuesday, were from 2 :45 from St. Peter's Lutheran church at Walmore. The Rev. Otto Bruss officiated.
Mrs. Schmidt was born on February 4, 1859, in this village. Her parents were among the first settlers of this town. She attended school here. In the year 1882 she was married to William H. Schmidt, who was for a number of years before his death court crier in county court, Lockport, and who was fatally injured several years ago in an auto accident.
Mrs. Schmidt was of a kind and loving Christian character. She not only endeared herself to her own family but to every one with whom she came in contact. She was a member of the St. Jacobi Lutheran church. Six nephews were bearers. They are Martin Milleville. Gerhard Milleville, Erich Ferchen, Ben De Vantier, Edward Milleville and Philip Milleville. Honorary bearers were the Misses Sophia Milleville and Elsie Milleville, Interment was in St. Jacobi cemetery.

Hold Last Rites For Mrs. Ferchen
BERGHOLZ, June 15. - Funeral services for Mrs. Auguste Milleville Ferchen were held this afternoon from the home at 2 o'clock and at 2:30 o'clock at Holy Ghost Lutheran church with the Rev. Victor. Dahlke officiating. The senior group of the Holy Ghost school sang, "Jesus While Living and Jesus While Dying." The bearers were Christ Burow, Arthur Milleville, Cornelius Ferchen, Theodore Schmidt, David Ferchen and Edwin DeVantier. Interment was in Holy Ghost cemetery. Mrs. Ferchen was born at the Milleville homestead on the Old Falls boulevard and was a life long resident of the Town of Wheatfield for 82 years. She lived 64 years in the same house and attended school in the same house where she resided when ten years old. In 1886 she was married to Christian Ferchen, a parochial school teacher of the St. James congregation. She was the daughter of the late John and Albertine Krull Milleville. She Is survived by two sons, Hugo Ferchen, Niagara Falls, and Erich Ferchen, Bergholz; two daughters, Mrs. Arthur J. Williams. Cayuga drive, Niagara Falls, and Mrs. Edward Eggert, at home; one sister, Mrs. Bertha DeVantier, St, Johnsburg; 11 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. She was a sister of the late John William Albert Milleville and Mrs. William H. Schmidt. Mrs. Ferchen was an active member of the Holy Ghost church and of the Lutheran Women's Missionary league. She was interested in the Lutheran Hour, sponsored by the Luther Laymen's league and founded by the late Dr. Walter Maler.

Mrs. William Kroening (nee Bertha Pfuhl) well known in this village, died in Memorial Hospital Saturday night, after a serious operation. The bearers were Erich J. Haseley. William DeVantier, Elmer Kroening, William Kroening, Jr., Sigmund Pfuhl, Herbert Pfuhl. Walmore Farmer Called by Death
Anthony Pfuhl Lives Only Few Hours After Stroke
WALMORE. Jan.10.-Anthony Pfuhl, 54 years old, well known Walmore farmer died yesterday in the same house in which he was born on the Lockport road. Mr. Pfuhl was seized with a stroke yesterday while attending a meeting at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran church here. He was removed to his home and expired at 11 o'clock last night.
Mr. Pfuhl was a son of the late Ferdinand and Augusta (sic) Pfuhl, pioneer settlers of the Walmore district. He was a prominent member of St. Peter's church and active in Walmore village affairs.
Funeral services will be held from the family home on Sunday, January 13, at 2 o'clock, and at 2:30 from St. Peter's church. The Rev. Edward Grabau will officiate. Interment will be in Walmore cemetery.
Mr. Pfuhl is survived by his wife, Elsie Haseley Pfuhl; two daughters, Mrs. Edward Walck and Mrs. Theodore Walck, both of Sanborn; two sons, Hubert and Ivan (sic), both at home; two brothers, Ferdinand Pfuhl, of Wolcottsville, and John Pfuhl, of Walmore; three sisters, Mrs. William DeVantier and Mrs. Charles Haseley, of Niagara Falls, and Mrs. Anna Koening (sic), of Pekin, and three grandchildren.

PFUHL RITES HELD
Services for Lockport Road Resident Are Largely Attended.
SANBORN, Jan. 15.-The funeral of Anthony Pfuhl, age 54, which was held at 2 o'clock on Sunday afternoon from his home, Lockport road, and at 2:30 at St. Peter's Lutheran church, was one of the largest ever held in this section.
The bearers included Fred Walck, Adolph De Vantier (sic), Hubert Haseley, Tony Walck, Albert Haseley and Albert Pfuhl. Flower bearers included Edna Walck, Irma Walck, Mayrian (sic) Haseley, Dorothy Haseley, Irving Walck, Max Pfuhl, Philip Haseley and Norman De Vantier (sic).
Rev. Edward Graubau (sic) was assisted in the service by Rev. Alfred Walck, of St. Paul, MN Interment was in Walmore cemetery.

BERGHOLTZ - John William Schmidt. 83, of 6784 Ward Road, died Thursday (Oct. 28, 1965) in Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born in the.Town of Wheatfield Oct. 8. 1882, the son of William H. and Albertine Milleville Schmidt, He had lived in this area all his life. With his brother, Theodore, he had owned and operated a farm at the Ward Road address for 40 years. Mr. Schmidt was a member of St. James Lutheran Church here. Survivors, in addition to the brother, include two sisters, Mrs. Ella Reid. Niagara Falls, and Mrs. Henry Schendel, North Tonawanda. Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday in St. James Lutheran Church by Rev. Robert Lehman. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. Mrs. William Lynch Expires After Long Illness
Mrs. Helena (sic) Louise Lynch, 43 years old, wife of William E. Lynch, 1714 Eighteenth street, died at her home yesterday, following an illness of eight months. She was the daughter of the late William Schmidt, Town of Wheatfield, Niagara County court crier, who was killed in an automobile crash a month ago today, Mrs. Lynch bas been critically ill since her father's death and was not told that he had been killed.
Born in the Town of Wheatfield, Mrs. Lynch came to Niagara Falls about 25 years ago. She was well known and highly respected in the city. Besides her husband, she is survived by her mother, Mrs. Albertina (sic) Schmidt, Town of Wheatfield; two brothers, John and Theodore Schmidt, Town of Wheatfield, and three sisters, Mrs. Charles Tunge (sic) and Mrs. Henry Schendle (sic), of the Town of Wheatfield, and Mrs. George Reid, of this city.

Thekla E. DeVantier, a lifelong member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bergholz, died Sunday (May 16, 1999) in Fairchild Manor Nursing Home. She was 101.
The former Thekla Milleville was born in Wheatfield and she lived in Wheatfield and Niagara Falls before moving to the nursing home.
Mrs. DeVantier was a member of the Women of the Church organization at St. James.
Her husband of 55 years, Edward R. DeVantier Sr., died in 1978.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed hearing about travels from her grandchildren who are spread out across seven states.
Mrs. DeVantier is survived by four sons, Edward R. Jr. of Niagara Falls, Roger of Cherry Hill, NJ, the Rev. Vernon of Blissfield, Mich. and Loren; a sister, Helen Milleville of Niagara Falls; 15 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.

He was born Nov 7, 1907, in Wheatfield, the son of John ad Helen Milleville.
Mr. Milleville attended St. James Evangelical Lutheran School in Bergholz.
He married Elizabeth Haseley on Oct. 10, 1936 in St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
He worked at the former Grief Brothers in Niagara Falls and was a dairy farmer for several ears.
Mr. Milleville was a member of St Peter's Lutheran Church in Walmore, where he served as an elder and choir member for 50 years. He also was active with Bible study classes and supported church missions.
He enjoyed his family life.
In addition to his wife of 61 years, he is survived by a son James Milleville of Plymouth Mich.; three daughters, Susan Dunbar of Aurora, OH, Marilyn Ruppel of Kenmore and Carol Moll of Bergholz; two sisters Thekla DeVantier of Lewiston and Helen Milleville of Wheatfield; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Milleville was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be from 2 -4 and 7 - 9 today and Sunday at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz. The Rev. Allen Griep will conduct services at 11a.m. Monday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore Road, Wheatfield. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Church Cemetery..

Helen C. Milleville, age 103, lifelong resident of Wheatfield, was called peacefully to her heavenly home on March 3, 2014 while at the Northgate Health Care Facility. Born in the Town of Wheatfield, NY on November 22, 1910 she was the daughter of the late John W. and Helene E. Milleville.
As a child, Helen attended the St. James Christian Day School and was a lifelong, active member of St. James Ev. Lutheran Church in Bergholz, where she was a former Sunday school superintendent and teacher for many years. Helen was also a member of the worship and music committee at the church, and attended the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis, MN. Helen was employed for 31 years at the Moore Business Forms, Niagara Falls, as a data input operator, retiring in 1975.
Helen was predeceased by four brothers, Hugo, Rev. Edgar, Carl and Martin Milleville; and five sisters, Elsie Milleville, Thekla DeVantier, Amanda Walck, Ella DeVantier and Ada Mueller. Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Sunday from 1-3 PM at St. James Ev. Lutheran Church, Niagara Road in Bergholz. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Jeff Milsten, following visitation at 3:00 PM. Interment will take place in St. James Lutheran Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the church, Lutheran Bible Translator (Wycliffe), or the World Mission Prayer League, Minneapolis, MN. Mr. Milleville was born in the Town of Wheatfield and was a life member of St. James Lutheran, Church, Bergholtz.
He is survived by his widow, Lydia; two sons, Robert W. and Herbert R. Milleville, both of this city; one daughter, Mrs. Howard (Eleanor) Garner of this city; four brothers, Theodore, Edward, and Philip Milleville, Wheatfield, and Herbert A., Milleville of this city; two sisters, Mrs. Carl (Edna) Geltz and Mrs. George (Hilda) Meyers, of this city, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at St. James Church Wednesday: at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Lehman officiating. Burial will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery. Ferchen, a member of the U.S. Customs staff at Niagara Falls for the last 20 years and one of the best known residents of this village, died Saturday at the Ransomville hospital. Born at Bergholtz in 1888, he was a son of the late Christian and Augusta Ferchen. He is survived by his wife, Bessie Treichler Ferchen; one son, James C. Ferchen, this village; two daughters, Mrs. Harry T. Martin, Kenmore, and Mrs. Lawrence Stumpf, Los Angeles. Calif.: two sisters, Mrs. Arthur Williams. LOCKPORT - Adelia F. (Ferchen) Eggert, whose involvement with music spanned most of the century, died Friday (July 13, 1990) at the Briody Nursing Home. Mrs. Eggert, 92, was a former resident of the Ferchen Homestead, Cayuga Street, Bergholz.
She was born on Aug. 9, 1897, the daughter of Christian and Auguste Ferchen.
She began music lessons as a 4 year-old and began teaching music at 16. She played the piano for a four piece family orchestra when she was 16, with her sister as the soloist. She and her sister sang duets. She was a member of the Holy Ghost Lutheran Church quartet and also played at silent movies at the Shredded Wheat County, where she worked from 1918 to 1929 packing biscuits.
Mrs. Eggert was also music chairman for the Niagara County American Legion Auxiliary and was a member of the Auxiliary for 38 years at Post 1451 on Ward Road. She was a Niagara Gazette correspondent for 10 years and a member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church for 74 years, where she was a member of the church's Ladies Aid Society, the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and the Lutheran League. She was also a member of the Niagara County Salon 25 of 8 and 40, Wheatfield Senior Citizens, Sanborn Senior Citizens and the First Volunteer Firemen's Ladies Auxiliary of Bergholz.
She organized the "Happy Harmoniers" orchestra in 1953, which entertained locally for 25 years. She also took pride. in the fact that she was the first woman in Wheatfield to serve as a Niagara County jurist.
She was the widow of Edward Eggert, who died in 1950 and sister of the late Eric Ferchen and Hugo Ferchen and the late Nora Williams. Mrs. Eggert is survived by one daughter, Sylvia Hilts of Sanborn; one son, Noel Eggert of Sanborn; and nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Farmer Dies as a Result of Fall
Benjamin P. DeVantier, 41 years old, native of Sanborn and well known Ward road farmer, died in the Memorial hospital here this morning of injuries suffered last Thursday when he fell a short distance in his barn. Mr. DeVantier suffered a fractured skull and other injuries when a board broke as he was replacing some flooring and he was precipitated about eight feet.
The funeral will be held from the family home in the Ward road, Sanborn, at 2 p. m., daylight saving time, Wednesday, and from the Holy Ghost Lutheran church, Bergholtz, at 2:30 p. m. with the Rev. John Kuckenbecker officiating. Burial will be in Bergholtz cemetery.
Surviving Mr. DeVantier are his wife Esther Walck DeVantier; a daughter, Thelma may, and a son Dennis DeVantier, all of Sanborn; a brother, Edwin DeVantier, Wheatfield, and a sister, Mrs. Hubert Hasely (sic), of the Town of Niagara. Albert Milleville, the three-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Milleville of Bergholtz, died at the family home Saturday night. Louise M. Wendt (Milleville), age 91, was called to her heavenly home on May 25, 2002 at the Fairhaven Retirement Facility, in Whitewater, WI, formerly of Wheatfield, NY. Born on December 7, 1910 to Albert and Rosina (Ferchen) Milleville in Niagara Falls, NY. She was united in marriage to Arnold R. Wendt on November 29, 1934. She was employed as a clerk for the Sanborn Phone Company. She was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Whitewater, WI and St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bergholz, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was predeceased by her husband on August 1, 1993; four sisters and three brothers. Survivors include one son, the Rev. Jerald (Nancy) Wendt of Whitewater, WI; two daughters, Anne Louise (Robert) Schreiner of Los Angeles, CA and Jeannine (Frederick) Ary of Louisville, KY; eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; a brother, Albert (Elizabeth) Milleville of Niagara Falls; three sisters; Sophia Schultz of North Tonawanda, Mabel (Paul) Klemm of Wessington, SD and Judith (Howard) Strobie (sic) of Marion, OH; and several nieces and nephews. Gerhard W. Milleville, who loved to sing in various choirs, died in his home Monday (July 15, 1996) after a long illness.
The 81-year-old was a lifelong resident of this town, as well as a lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church, Bergholz.
Milleville, of Maple Drive, worked in the business office at the Carborundum Co. in Niagara Falls for over 40 years and retired in the mid-1980s.
He enjoyed music, playing the piano and singing in various choirs in the area, including the Western New York Lutheran Men's Choir and the St. James Choir.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna J. of Montpelier, VT.; a brother, Albert of Sanborn; five sisters, Anna Moll and Louise Wendt, both of Bergholz, Sophia Schultz of North Tonawanda, Mabel Klemm of Wessington Springs, S.D., and Judith Stroble of Marion, OH.
Services will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday in St. James Lutheran Church, Niagara Road and Rohr Street, Bergholz. Burial will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery

Albert E. Milleville of Wheatfield died Sunday (March 7, 2004) in Mount View Health Care Facility, Lockport. He was 85.
Born in Wheatfield, he graduated from LaSalle High School in 1936 and married the Elizabeth Ziemendorf on July 19, 1947.
He served as a Wheatfield assessor during the 1950s and was employed at Moore Business Forms for 27 years. He also worked for Summit Park Mall for 20 years, retiring in 1991.
Mr. Milleville was a lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church in Bergholz, where he served as president of many committees. He had a great interest in Christian education and evangelism. He also enjoyed gardening and woodworking.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Nancy of Sanborn; two sons, Dan of Arnold, Md., and Jon of Wheaton, ILl.; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. James Lutheran Church, Niagara Road and Rohr Street, Bergholz. Burial will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery.

Woman hit by/car, killed
WHEATFIELD - A 61-year-old woman was killed Monday when she was struck by an car in front of her home.
Pronounced dead at DeGraff Memorial Hospital was Rose Milleville of 6731 Ward Road. She suffered massive head, and leg injuries in the accident. According to sheriff's deputies, the woman was hit by a car driven by Kenneth Beutel, 46, of 2427 Lockport Road, as he traveled north on the unlighted road.
Deputies reported the car had only one working headlight. An investigation into the incident was continuing.
Miss Milleville was a lifelong resident of Wheatfield and was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and the Women of the Church. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Rosina Milleville.
She is survived by two brothers, Gerhard W. and Albert E. Milleville, both of Wheatfield; five sisters, Anna Moll, Mrs. Arnold (Louise) Wendt, Sophia Schultz, all of Wheatfield, Mrs. Paul (Mabel) Klemm of Woonsacket, S.D., and Mrs. Howard (Judith) Stroble of Cardington, OH; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the Fretthold Funeral Home, 1241 Oliver St., at Ward Road, North Tonawanda. Marion, OH - Judith Grace Milleville Stroble, age 94 of Marion, passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Marion General Hospital. She was born in Niagara County, New York, on August 7, 1926, the youngest child of Albert and Rosina (Ferchen) Milleville. In 1944, she graduated from LaSalle High School and became a bookkeeper and secretary in the law offices of Phelps, Gray, Mansour & Hewitt, Niagara Falls, New York. On June 15, 1952, she was married to Howard M. Stroble, whom she had met in 1949 on Mount Rainier while both were on a post-convention tour of the National Luther League convention. They moved to Muscatine, Iowa, where Howard served his intern year at Zion Lutheran Church and Judy continued with secretarial work. On their return to Columbus, she was the secretary to the Construction Engineer of the Ohio Turnpike Commission. Following Pastor Stroble's graduation from Lutheran Seminary in 1954 in Columbus, Ohio, and ordination in Zion Lutheran Church, Hartford City, Indiana, they served churches in WaKeeney, Kansas; Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada; Saginaw, Michigan; Alma and Republican City, Nebraska; Union City, Indiana; and St. John Lutheran Church (Windfall) in Cardington, Ohio. In Marion, Judy worked in the law offices of Eugene A. Yazel and Brent A. Rowland, and Pastor Stroble was the ARMS Chaplain until his passing on November 2, 2004. Thankful to be a member of the Holy Christian Church, Judy was very active in her work as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, and ACLW officer. She planned many programs for Christmas, Mother's Day, and special anniversaries. She also spent many hours on Lutheran World Relief projects, especially the quilts and layettes. At her daughter's urging, she wrote "Wasn't it amazing, Judy Grace," which included the story of her German and French-Huguenot (Protestant) background, highlights of their years in the various churches, and favorite recipes she collected along the way. Her cinnamon rolls were the best! Judy is survived by her son, Kevin Luther Stroble, of Marion and her daughter, Ruth Jeannine Roberts, of Moriarty, NM. She is also survived by a grandson, William Howard (Jacque) Roberts; a great-granddaughter, Lahna Jewel Roberts; and a granddaughter, Linden Rose (Bart) Roberts. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and their extended families, as well as special friends like Linda Ruehrmund. She was predeceased by 4 sisters, 3 brothers, 3 half-sisters, and 1 half-brother, as well as 7 nieces and 1 nephew. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 1 pm at Marion Cemetery with Deacon Kevin Kehn of Emanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow. Memorial contributions may be made in Judy's honor to the Emanuel Lutheran Church Radio Fund or Good Samaritan Fund, 241 S. Prospect Street, Marion, OH 43302.

BERGHOLTZ, Jan. 2. - Funeral services for Elmer Milleville, which were held from the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Milleville, Niagara Falls boulevard. Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock and at 2:30 from St. James'. Lutheran church, were largely attended. The church was filled to its capacity. Mr Milleville was 36 years old and died after several months illness. He was born in the same house where he died and attended the St. James' parochial school. The bearers were William Milleville Jr., Charles Mllleville, Ben DeVantier, Erich Ferchen. Theodore Schmidt and A. Haseley, all cousins of the deceased. Interment was in St. James cemetery.

BERGHOLTZ, Dec. 28 - Elmer Millleville. 36 years old, son of Supervisor and Mrs. Albert Milleville, of the Niagara Falls boulevard, died today at the home of his parents, after an illness of several months. Funeral services will be held from the home of the parents on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock and at 2:30 from St. James Lutheran church, this village. The Rev. Otto Bruss will officiate. Supervisor Milleville stated today that he would be unable to attend the board meeting in Lockport Monday because of his sons funeral.

KRULL - William C. Krull, 75, of 2874 Niagara Falls Blvd., North Tonawanda,
suddenly Tuesday (May 25, 1971) in the Veterans Hospital, Buffalo. Mr.
Krull was a lifelong resident of the Town of Wheatfield, proprietor and
owner of Krull's Inn for 38 years. He served with the U. S. Army from 1917
to 1919, and was a member of the American Legion Post 264. One of the
original founders of the St. Johnsburg Fire Co., he was a lifelong member of
St. John Lutheran Church.
Mr. Krull is survived by his wife, Esther (nee Schulmeister) Krull; one
daughter, Mrs. Wilfred Humphries of North Tonawanda; three sons, William,
Harold and Melvin Krull, all of North Tonawanda; ten grandchildren, five
great-grandchildren; he was the father-in-law of the late Arnold E. Martin.
Mr. Krull is also survived by one brother, Mr. Edward Krull, and two
sisters, Miss Gertrude Krull and Mrs. Jared Tiffany, all of the Tonawandas.

Bergholz-Mrs. Ruth Haseley, 77, of 2500 Niagara Road, was pronounced dead of arrival at Memorial Medical Center Sunday(Dec. 5, 1971) after she was stricken while attending services at St. James Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Haseley was a lifelong resident of the Town of Wheatfield and was the wife of the late William Loeschke and Paul C. Haseley.

Louis F. Haseley, who would have celebrated his 86th birthday July 30, died yesterday in Lockport Memorial Hospital. Mr Haseley lived at 419H Lockport Road. He was a long-time Niagara County resident. Mr and Mrs Haseley celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Nov. 29, 19B7, the same year in which he became 80 years old. His birthday then was an occasion for a family reunion, with four of their six children returning from abroad and various parts of the country for the celebration. In addition to his wife, Mr Haseley is survived by two sons, Gordon Haseley of Pendleton and the Rev. Louis C Haseley of Valley Stream, L.I.; and four daughters, Lydia Haseley of Lockport, Mrs. Ihsan Hijazi of Beirut, Lebanon; Mabel Haseley of Chicago, and Mrs Wayne Berger of Kansas City, Mo He was the brother of Erie J Haseley of the Town of Niagara and Mrs Hugo Walck of the Town of Wheatfield Sixteen grandchildren also survive. Ex-Garage Owner Dies
SANBORN-Noah A. Haseley, 69, of Lockport Rd., a retired mechanic, died today (March 14, 1960) at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital, Niagara Falls, after a lengthy illness. Born in the Town of Niagara, March 19, 1960, Mr. Haseley was a son of the late Carl and Wilhelmina Pfohl Haseley. He was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School and attended Cornell University. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore. Mr. Haseley owned and operated a garage in Detroit for 35 years, retiring about eight years ago and returning to this area to make his home with his brother, Eric (sic) Haseley.
Surviving are two other brothers, Louis Haseley, Shawnee, and Carl F. Haseley, Niagara Falls, and a sister, Mrs. Hugo A. Walck, Sanborn. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Pike & Jones Funeral Home and at 2:30 p.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Donald Rehkopf. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery

TOWN OF NIAGARA Erich J. Haseley. 86, of 8515 Lockport Road died Saturday (Oct. 28. 1978) in Memorial Medical Center, Niagara Falls.
A lifelong resident of the Town of Niagara, where he had operated a farm at Lockport and Packard roads, he was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a former trustee and chairman of the congregation. He had served as chairman of the building committee of St. Peter's Lutheran School and was a charter member of Niagara No. 1,Volunteer Fire Co. He was also a former Town of Niagara Justice of the Peace and had served as town supervisor.
Surviving are his wife. Irene; a son, LaVern Haseley; a daughter, Mrs. William Gladys Schildhauer, both of the Town of Niagara; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Florence Haseley. Funeral services will be held at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore, Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Paul F. Wittenburg Officiating.

Carl F. Haseley, 68, of 501 B St., Sunny Acres, died Friday (Sept. 22, 1972) in Memorial Medical Center where he had been a patient for six weeks.
He was born in the Town of Niagara and retired in 1969 from the Penn Central Railroad where he had been an engineer for 35 years.
Mr. Haseley was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.

PICKS UP LIVE WIRE AND MEETS INSTANT DEATH
Tuscarora Road Man Electrocuted by 2,200 volt Charge on Lawn of Home
Albert W. Devantier, 52 years old, of the Tuscarora road, R. F. D. Route No. I, was electrocuted this morning at 10:25 o'clock when he picked up a wire carrying 2,200 volts of electricity which had fallen across the lawn of his home. Falls firemen answered a call to the Deventier (sic) home to render first aid with the fire department inhalator but First Assistant Fire Chief Peter P. McGraw and Firemen Elmer Tevins and John Eagan reported that Devantier was dead when they reached the scene. Firemen said that the Niagara Falls Power company was installing some wires along the road near the Devantier home and that when one of the wires fell across Deventier's property he picked it up, not realizing that it was charged, and was instantly killed.

Edna A. Haseley, the longtime owner of a family farm on Saunders Settlement Road, died Thursday (Aug. 22, 2002) in CrestWood Health Care Center, Wheatfield. She was 95.
The former Edna Kroening was born in the Town of Lewiston in 1906. She married Erwin Haseley in 1932. Together, they worked on the family farm until his death in 1962.
She was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where she had been active in its Ladies Aid Society and worked on church dinners. She also was a member of the Sanbornites Senior Citizens Group and enjoyed quilting and crafts.
Mrs. Haseley is survived by a son, Ernest of Niagara Falls; two daughters, Ruth Grose of Daphine, Ala., and Gretchen Plough of Jefferson City, TN.; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 A.M. Monday in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6169 Walmore Road. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Church Cemetery

Born June 15th 1898, in the Town of Royalton, she was the daughter of Ferdinand and Mathilda Williams Pfohl. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Wolcottsville. Her husband, George F. Marcks died in 1964, and a son Richard died in 1952. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs Fred Hill of Medina, Mrs Joseph Lydston, and Mrs Joseph Licata both of Lockport, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. SANBORN-Elmer F. Kroening, 67, of 4181 Upper. Mountain Road, prominent in civic and church affairs here and, chairman of the Planning Board in the Town of Cambria, died Friday (June 17, 1966) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness. Born in the Town of Niagara, he was the son of the late Carl and Anna Pfohl Kroening. His wife, the former Elsie Walck Kroening, died in September of 1965, Mr. Kroening was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Pekin, a member of the Board of Elders, the Church Council, the Lutheran Laymen's League of Western New York, and a past trustee of the church. He also was an exempt member of the Pekin Volunteer Fire Company, a member of the Niagara County Farm Bureau Extension Service, a former director of the National Grape Cooperative and a former board member of the Starpoint Central School. He was a retired farmer. SANBORN - Edwin H. Kroening, 72, of 2849 Saunders Settlement Road was pronounced dead on arrival at Memorial Medical Center, Niagara Falls, Monday (Feb. 11, 1974) after suffering an apparent heart attack at work. Mr. Kroening Was a native of the Town of Niagara and had lived in Sanborn for the last 50 years, where he had owned and operated Kroening Garage on Route 31 for the last 49 years. He was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore; a charter member of the Sanborn Lions Club and an honorary member of the Sanborn Volunteer Fire Co.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Haseley Kroening; two sons, Harold and Gilbert Kroening; and a daughter, Mrs. Benjamin (Gladys) Haseley, all of Sanborn. He was the father of the late Miss Sharon L. Kroening. Also surviving are nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore. The Rev. Harold L. Baum will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.

Funeral services were held in Trinity church, Loyal, on Nov. 6, and burial services were conducted from Immanuel church, Cedarburg, WI., on Nov. 7. Pastor Pfohl was born in Walmore, NY.., on March 24, 1904. He received his education at Martin Luther Seminary, Buffalo, Erie County, NY.., and was ordained on June 24, 1928. He was employed at Carborundum Co. in the abrasive department as a stock handler for more than 40 years and also had worked on the family farm on Walmore Road for many years.
Mr. Pfohl was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore Road, where he had served as Elder and a member of the church choir for more than 50 years.
He was a past commander of Post 969, American Legion, Sanborn, and exempt member of the Sanborn Fire Company; a member of the LaSalle Sportsmen's Club; and the Carborundum Alumni Association.
“Uncle Louie,” as he was affectionately referred to by many in the Sanborn area enjoyed collecting black walnuts, cracking them and giving them to friends.
He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed playing baseball in his early years and watching in his later years.
He is survived by three sisters, Verone Haseley, Lizzie Haseley and Eleonore Craft all of Sanborn; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great-nephews.
He was the brother of the late Minnie Kroening, Martha Haseley, Sigmond (sic) Pfohl, the Rev. John Pfohl and Max Pfohl.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6:30 - 9:30 today at the Rhooney Funeral Home, 5893 Hoover Road, where the Sanborn Fire Company will conduct a memorial service at 9:30 p.m. The rev. Bruce M. Louis A. Pfohl, a lifelong resident of Sanborn who was affectionately known as "Uncle Louis," died in his home Wednesday (April 19, 2000) after apparently suffering a heart attack. He was 91.

Max D. Pfohl, 77, a lifelong dairy farmer, died Sunday (May 31, 1992) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a lengthy illness.
Pfohl operated his family's dairy farm in Sanborn.
Born in the Town of Lewiston, he was a member of the Niagara Milk Co-op.
He also was a member of the LaSalle Sportsmen's Club and an exempt member of the Sanborn Fire Company.
He was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where he had served as an elder.
He is survived by his wife, the former Carol M. Haseley; three sons, Robert Haseley, David and James; a daughter, Judy Long; four sisters, Martha Haseley, Verone Haseley, Lizzie Haseley and Eleonore Craft; a brother, Louis, and two granddaughters.
Services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday in St. Peter's Church, Walmore Road, Town of Wheatfield. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield.

She also had worked at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church Rectory, Lewiston, Niagara County, NY for 19 years.

Lizzie Dorothea Pfohl was born in the Town of Lewiston on September 23, 1915, to Johannes and Eleonore [ Fahrenwald ] Pfohl.
She was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Sanborn, NY. Lizzie was baptized on October 3, 1915 and confirmed on Apr 21, 1929.
On January 12, 1939 Lizzie & Marcus Albert Haseley were united in marriage. They were blessed with three children: Ronald M., Frederick W., and Mark J.
She was a lifelong resident of Sanborn where she attended local schools. She worked for J.J. Haseley & Sons, and accompanied her husband Marcus to the Niagara Falls Farmer's Market for over 40 years. She also had worked at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church Rectory, Lewiston, Niagara County, NY for 19 years.
Lizzie was active in the church choir for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Ladies Aid and other Circles within the church, visiting and sending cards to the sick and shut-ins, and making quilts for Lutheran World Relief.

Mrs. Eleonore E. Craft, 84 of Sanborn, NY, died Tuesday July 3, 2007, in Mount St. Mary's Hospital after a long illness.
She was born in Sanborn on January 17, 1923, the daughter of John and Eleonore [ Fahrnwald ] Pfohl. She attended LaSalle High School and Trott Vocational School. Eleonore was a life long member of St. Peter Lutheran Church-Walmore, in Sanborn, NY.
She had worked for the Jonas and Martha Haseley Muck farm for several years and for Moore Business Forms, for many years. She married Gilbert Goeseke, on July 22, 1950, and they moved to Newstead, NY, where she was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. Gilbert predeceased her on December 15, 1961.
She was married to Edwin Werth, on June 15, 1966, when they returned to the Sanborn area, he died on November 15, 1971. On September 16, 1978 Eleonore married Raymond Craft and they were married for six years, prior to his death on August 9, 1984.
Survivors include a son, Russell [ Barbara ] Goeseke of Town of Wheatfield, stepsons, Ronald [ Marlene ] Craft, Galen [ Nancy ] Craft, step daughter-in-law Dolores Werth, a granddaughter, Melissa Goeseke, step grandchildren Michael Werth, Cheryl Werth, Jeffery Craft, Mark Sydor, Robin Sydor, Scott Sydor, 4 step great grandchildren, a sister, Lizzie [ Marcus ] Haseley, of Sanborn, and many nieces and nephews.

SANBORN - Martin F. Pfohl, _ 88, of Saunders Settlement Road died Wednesday (Dec. 30, 1992) at Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston.
The native of Sanborn was born on Feb. 20, 1904, to Albert and Ida (Haseley) Pfohl. He worked at the former Dobbie Foundry in Niagara Falls for 43 years. He retired in 1966.

Born Agnes Pfohl in the Town of Wheatfield, she attended local schools. She was a devoted homemaker and a lifelong, active member of St. Peter's Evangelical
Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of the Women of the Church.

He was a loving and devoted husband and father, especially to his daughter Karen, who predeceased him.

Pfohl was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Sanborn, where he held various positions over the years. He. was an exempt member of. the Sanborn Fire Co. and the Sanborn Lions Club, and a former member of the LaSalle Sportsmen's Club.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Eleanor H.
