Wolcottsville. March 5 - The funeral of Albert Retzlaff was held last Friday afternoon at St. Michael's church, Rev. Frederick Schleef officiating. The bearers were August Klienhans, John Tiefel, John C. Fink, John Meitz, Fred Wollenburg and Lebrecht Haseley. Mr. Retzlaff for many years conducted a grocery store beside working his farm. He had many friends in this locality. He was a resident of Wolcottsville for about forty-five years. His many friends were shocked to hear of his sudden death.

BERGHOLTZ, April 17,-Mrs. Matilda Wienke, nee Retzlaff, 74 years old, wife of Albert Wienke, died today at her home, in Cayuga road after a brief illness. She was stricken with paralysis Sunday. She was born in Campow (sic), Germany, and had resided in this village for the past 51 years. She was a member of St. James Lutheran church and the Ladies' Aid society.
Besides her husband, she is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Edward Jagow and Mrs. William Eggert, both of Niagara Falls, Mrs. Albert Schmeichel, of North Tonawanda, Mrs. Christ (sic) Haseley, of Sanborn, and Mrs. Gustav Moll, of Bergholtz; five sons, Adolph, of Sanborn, John, Hugo and Reinhard, all of Bergholtz. and Albert, of North Tonawanda; 34 grandchildren; seven great granchildren (sic); two brothers, Fred, of Grand Haven, Mich., and Edward, of Sanborn. Walmore, N. Y.-Funeral services for Edward F. Retzlaff, of Walmore, N. Y., were held Tuesday from the home at 2 P.M. and at St. Peter's Lutheran church at 2:30. Burial was in the Walmore Cemetery. The bearers were Rudolph Retzlaff, Edward Walck, Alfred Walck, Howard Walck, Arthur DuBois, and Melvin Walck. Honorary bearers included Willis Retzlaff, Chester Walck, Emily Walck and Ruth Beutel.
Mr. Retzlaff was born in Germany in 1862. He came to this country in 1880 and has since resided in Walmore. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Auguste Retzlaff, one son, Arthur and two daughters, Mrs. August Walck and Mrs. Felix Walck. He also left 11 grandchildren.

She was the wife of the late August C. Demmin, and is survived by two daughters, Viola of North Tonawanda and Mrs. Edward Bielmeyer of Williamsville; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Fitzgerald of Rochester and Mrs. Cornelius Libbert of Newark, N.Y., and one grandson.

John G. Retzlaw, a farm hand in the
employment of Frank Walck a farmer
who resides near Sanborn was run down
and killed by a train- some time Saturday
night on the Falls road-at a point
three miles from the city at tho crossing
known as . the Long Crossing. The remains
were discovered lying between the
tracks by a train crew which passed at
4M8 o'clock. Both legs were cut off, as
well as an arm. One of the legs was
found at a distance of 60. feet from the
body as well as a package of clothing.
Coroner W. A. Scott, who was summoned,
went to the scene of tho accident on a
light engine. Ho found that the clothing
was from the Brown store at the north
end of the city. The body was brought
Into the city on the engine and removed
to an undertaking establishmenL At
the Brown clothing store it was learned
that Retzlaw had purchased a suit of
clothing on Saturday night. He had evidently
started to walk to the home of his
father August Retzlaw. who lives at Wallmore.
His father came to the city yesterday
afternoon and informed the .coroner
that it was the habit of his son
to walk home from the Falls either by the
highway or the railroad tracks. The
coroner was unable to determine whether
the man was struck while walking the
tracks or while going over the Long
Crossing.. Retzlaw was about 35 years old
and was unmarried. An Inquest will not
be held.

Sanborn-Elsie H. Jagow, 76, of 6245 Ward Road, died Sunday (Dec. 26, 1965) in Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital after a month's illness. She was the widow of Albert Jagow who died in 1963.
She was born May 12, 1889, in the town of Wheatfield, daughter of Frank and Augusta Walck Retzlaff. In 1910, she was married and the couple operated a farm at the Ward Road address until her husband's death.
Mrs. Jagow was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore and of the Ladies Aid Society of the church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Albert (Gertrude) Pfuhl, Niagara Falls; a son, Herbert Jagow, Sanborn; five grandsons and two great-grandsons. Another daughter, Mildred Jagow, died in August of this year.
Services will be held at the Pike and Jones Funeral Home here at 2 P.M., followed by additional rites at St. Peter's Lutheran Church at 2:30, Donald G. Rehkopf officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.
The family will be present at the funeral home from 2 to 5 and 7-9 P.M.
The family said donation to St. Peter's Lutheran Memorial Fund or Lutheran Vespers will be acceptable as tributes.

A retired Lockport grocery store proprietor, Henry H. Retzlaff, 66, of 87 Seattle Ave., died this morning in Lockport City Hospital. He retired six years ago and had bean in poor health for some time. Mr. Retzlaff was born Aug, 30, 1883 in the Town of Royalton, son of Mr and Mrs. Albert Retzlaff. For 45 years he had lived to Lockport where he conducted grocery stores at various times to Transit Street, High and Saxton Streets, Grant Street and Seattle Avenue and in Bristol Avenue. He also operated a shoe store in Main Street, was in partnership with Thomas Ball, in a confectionary store in Locust Street and conducted an ice cream parlor at Lock and Ontario Streets. He wax an ardent fisherman. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lloyd Cooper and Mrs. Daniel Taylor and a son, Allen Retzlaff of Lockport; four grandchildren; a brother, John Retzlaff and a sister. Mrs. Augusta Tryloff of Wolcottsville, Services will be held Thursday at 2:30 at the Gaul Funeral Home, 263 East Ave. Burial will be in North Ridge Cemetery.

Woman Dies as Result Of Stroke Suffered Sunday
North Tonawanda, June 27-Stricken with cerebral hemorrhage while attending the picnic of St. James Church at Bergholz late yesterday afternoon, Mrs. Clara Augusta Frerichs, 58, of the Niagara Road, Bergholz, died today at the DeGraff Memorial Hospital without regaining consciousness.
Mrs. Frerichs was a life-long resident of the Town of Wheatfield, and members of her family were with her when she was stricken. She was removed to the hospital immediately. She was a member of the St. James Church and of the Ladies' Aid Society of the church. Surviving are her husband, Herman; two daughters, Mrs. Richard Parris and Mrs. John Martin, Niagara Falls; four sons, Lester, Niagara Falls, and Walter, Theodore and Herbert, Bergholz; four grandchildren, a brother, Howard Retzlaff, Bergholz, and two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Attl, LaKota (sic), N. JOHN E. WIENKE - John E. Wienke, 84, formerly of Cayuga Road, Bergholtz, died Tuesday (March 21, 1972) in the Abbey Nursing Home Kenmore, after a long illness. Born in Bergholtz where he lived most of his life, he was the husband of the late Marie Mantke Wienke, who died 1936. He was a.lifelong member of the St. James Lutheran Church, and a member of the 1 Bergholtz Volunteer Fire Co. He had been a cabinet maker, and worked for the Meyer Lumber Co. of North Tonawanda. Survivors include four sons, Herbert and Erwin Wienke of this city, Edward and Nelson Wienke of North Tonawanda: three daughters, Mrs. Mildred Motchenbauth of Buffalo, Mrs. Charles (Florence) Donner of Tonawanda and Mrs. Donald (Lorraine) Werth of North Tonawanda;-two brothers, Adolf Wienke of Sanborn and Relnhard Wienke of this city; four sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Jagow, Mrs. Emma Haseley, Mrs. Esther Moll, all of this city; and Mrs. Ella Eggert of Sanborn, 20 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was father of the late Richard Wienke, who died in 1957. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at St. James Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Robert Lahman officiating. Burial will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery. SANBORN - Edwin W. Beutel, 74, of 2427 Lockport Road, was pronounced dead on arrival today (July 9, 1974) in Memorial Medical Center, Niagara Falls, after an apparent heart attack at home.
He was a lifelong resident of the Town of Wheatfield, residing at the same address all his life. He had been employed at the Kimberly Clark Corp. as a machine operator where he had worked for over 30 years prior to retiring in 1965.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Beutel; seven sons, the Rev. Eugene Beutel of Neptune, N.J., Allen Beutel of San Diego, Calif., Kenneth Beutel of Sanborn, the Rev. LeRoy Beutel of Baltimore, Md., James Beutel and Edwin Beutel Jr., both of Sanborn, the Rev. Donald Beutel of Lockbourne, OH; three daughters, Mrs. Jarry (Jeannette) Kroening of Sanborn, Mrs. Beatrice Lane of Albany and Mrs. James (Audrey) Tierney of Stow, OH; a brother. Sanborn - Rudolph A. Beutel, 58, of 2381 Lockport Road, a 30-year worker at Kimberly-Clark Corp, Niagara Falls, where he was employed as a machine operator until retiring three years ago, died today(Sept. 28, 1961) after being stricken with a heart attack in Buffalo.

Ruth Amalie Emma Walck, 81, of Saunders Settlement Road, who had operated a family farm and sold produce at the Niagara Falls city market for many years, died at her residence Tuesday (May 7, 1996).
The former Ruth Retzlaff was born in Wheatfield.
She was an active, longtime member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church on Walmore Road, where she was baptized, confirmed and married, all by the same minister, the Rev. Edward Grabau. She belonged to the Women of the Church group.
Mrs. Walck also was a member of the Sanbornite Senior Citizens.
She and her husband, Irwin E., who died in 1966, operated the family farm together.
Survivors include a son, Glenn; two daughters, Fay Poli of Pendleton and Nancy Dzialak; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Friday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 6168 Walmore Road.

SANBORN - Ruth Amalie Emma (Retzlaff) Walck, 81, of Sanders Settlement Road, died May 7, 1996, at her residence.
She was born in Wheatfield on June 8, 1914, the daughter of Rudolph and Mary (Jagow) Retzlaff. A lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore, she was baptized June 21, 1914, confirmed April 1, 1928, and was married to Irwin E. Walck on Oct 3, 1937, all be the Rev. Edward Grabau at the church. Mr. Walck died Sept. 27, 1966.
An active church member, she belonged to the Women of the Church group. She was also a member of the Sanbornite Senior Citizens and did volunteer work at local nursing homes. Mrs. Walck enjoyed family life and gardening.
She and her husband operated the family farm and sold produce to the Niagara Falls City Market for several years.
She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Dzialak of Sanborn and Fay Poli of Pendleton; a son Glenn Walck of Sanborn; seven grandchildren and a great-grandson.
She was the sister off the late Lillian Walck.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. today at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz.
The Rev. Allen Griep conducted services Friday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Burial was in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield. Memorials may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church Entrance Fund or to St. Peter's Lutheran School. Arrangements were made by DuBois Funeral Home, Bergholz.

SANBORN - Lillian M. Walck, 61, of 2251 Lockport Road died Wednesday (April 26, 1978) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness.
She was a lifelong resident of Sanborn and had been an active member of the St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church.
She and her husband, Howard E. Walck, were the former operators of Walck's Farm Diary in Niagara Falls.
In addition to her husband survivors include three sons, Howard C. Walck and Douglas Walck, both of Niagara Falls, and Dennis Walck of Sanborn, one sister, Mrs. Irwin (Ruth) Walck of Sanborn and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at SI. Peter Lutheran Church, Walmore, with the Rev. Paul F. Wittenberg officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.

WHEATFIELD - Gertrude E. Pfuhl, 86, of Wendt Drive, died Thursday (Jan. 9, 1997) at home. She was born July 31, 1910, in Wheatfield, the daughter of Albert and Elsie (Retzlaff) Jagow.
Mrs. Pfuhl retired from housekeeping with the Niagara-Wheatfield School District. She was a lifelong and active member of SI. Peter's Lutheran Church. She also was a member of the Sanbornite Senior Citizens. Mrs. Pfuhl enjoyed gardening, flowers and family life.
She was the widow of Albert N. Pfuhl, who died in 1975. They were married April 22, 1934. She is survived by a son, Herbert C. Pfuhl of Webster; a grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Clifford Pfuhl, and sister of the late Mildred Jagow and Herbert Jagow. She also was predeceased by a grandson.

SANBORN-Mildred E. Jagow, 53, of 6245 Ward Road, Sanborn, died Sunday (Aug. 29, 1965) in Niagara Falls following a lengthy illness.
Miss Jagow was born in Sanborn in 1912, the daughter of Mrs. Elsie Jagow and the late Albert Jagow. She made her home at the family residence in Ward Road all of her life.
She was a life-long member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore, N.Y.

SANBORN - Herbert A. Jagow, 64, of 6206 Ward Road was pronounced dead on arrival Monday (July 2, 1979) at Mount St. Mary's Hospital after being stricken with an apparent heart attack. He was a lifelong resident of Sanborn, and a life member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore. He was a former member of the church council, serving as elder and trustee. On Tuesday afternoon of next week Coroner Helwig will open an inquest into the circumstances connected with the death of Adrian Frerichs, 34 years old, Bergholz, who was instantly killed in a motor accident on the Niagara Falls Blvd, half a mile west of St Johnsburg Thursday night. The witnesses will include Steve Kovacich, 25 years old, 1411 Robinson Court, Niagara Falls, driver of the death car, and his wife who was riding with her husband at the time of the accident. The driver will come before Justice George Grawe of the Town of Wheatfield on Friday night on a charge of criminal negligence. Rites will be held tomorrow afternoon for Frerichs. The services will be conducted at 2 o'clock from the residence and half an hour later from the St. James church in Bergholz. Otto Bruss will conduct the services and burial will be in St. James cemetery. Frerichs was born in Maza, North Dakota. He had resided in Bergholz the last 31 years. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Lois; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Frerichs; four brothers. Walter, Theodore and Herbert, Bergholz. and Lester, Niagara Falls, and two sisters, Mrs. Richard Paris and Mrs. John E. Martin, Niagara Falls.

A native of Maza, ND, the former Claribel L. Frerichs worked for International Paper Co. for 33 years until the company closed its mill in Niagara Falls in 1967. After she retired, Mrs. Martin volunteered as a foster grandmother.
She was a longtime member of St. James Lutheran Church in Bergholz. Her husband, John N., died in 1951.

Funeral set for recluse Wednesday
RANSOMVILLE - Funeral services will be held Wednesday for Lester T. Frerichs, 61, who was found dead in his makeshift log cabin at 3396 Randall Road Sunday.
Mr. Frerichs had lived at the address for about two years as a recluse and was found dead by a neighbor.
An autopsy was performed at the request of Coroner Daniel Andrews, who issued a certificate of death from natural causes. He said Frerichs had suffered a brain hemorrhage.
He was born in the Town of Wheatfield, the son of Herman and Clara Retzlaff Frerichs, and was self employed as a landscaper.
Surviving are two sons, Lee Frerichs of Pensacola, Fla., and David Frerichs, Cincinnati Ohio; a brother, Ted Frerichs of the Town of Wheatfield; a sister, Mrs. Claribell Martin of Niagara Falls, and one grandchild.
Friends may call today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hardison Funeral Home, where services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Frank McLaughlin officiating. Burial will be in North Ridge Cemetery

Recluse found dead in Cabin

RANSOMVILLE - "My family and I will miss him. He was a true friend, somebody who liked to help and who you could talk to." These were the sentiments of Mrs. David E. Nashwinter, 3378 Randall Road, as she talked about their friend who lived in a log cabin about a quarter of a mile back in the woods. The friend, Lester T. Frerichs, 61, was found dead by Mrs. Nashwinter early Sunday evening. Mr. Frerichs was a recluse. According to Mrs. Nashwinter, Mr. Frerichs at one time was a member of a prominent Bergholtz family that "owned half of Bergholtz." He apparently decided he had enough of life in today's complex world and wanted to be alone. . . "to live with nature." "He believed in God and had a monument to God by his shack. There was a Bible there under a piece of glass," said Mrs. Nashwinter.
Coroner Daniel Andrews of Youngstown ordered an autopsy on Mr. Frerichs to determine the cause of death and was withholding a death certificate until Autopsy results were received.
Mr. Frerichs built a log-cabin type structure on gravel pit property owned by Harold Truesdale and lived there for about two years. Prior to that he lived as a hermit on other nearby property and was kicked out.
"Mr. Truesdale didn't mind him living there. Mr. Frerichs had no electricity and build a stove out of stone and cooked on a grill, Mrs. Nashwinter said.
She described him as a fine person and a fine neighbor. "He would help us with haying and other chores and he often had supper with us," She continued.
"And he said he just had the happiest Christmas of his life." Mrs. Nashwinter said her daughter. Cindy, 11, and a niece, Debby Brown, 14 of Wilson, used their money to buy Mr. Frerichs Christmas gifts: a pair of gloves, two pairs of socks, a toy elf (to help him in his chores), a pack of pencils and a key chain. They made a Christmas tree out of an old branch and decorated it.
"He was so happy about his Christmas presents that he cried when he came to our house," said Mrs. Nashwinter.
Mr. Frerichs was on welfare, had a truck before it broke down and Mr. and Mrs. Nashwinter used to take him into town to cash his welfare check and pick up groceries. He even put up his own mail box. His only mail was the welfare checks sent to 3396 Randall Road.
Mrs. Nashwinter said he didn't talk too much about himself but did say he was a pro golfer at one time, was very well known in the Bergholtz area and used to sell apple cider from a truck on Niagara Falls Boulevard.
On Sunday Mrs. Nashwinter and her two daughters, the other daughter Patty, 10, went back to the cabin to deliver a turkey dinner to Mr. Frerichs.
There was no fire in his cabin, which was unusual, and the Nashwinter's went back home to get a flashlight.
When they returned they found Mr. Frerichs on the floor of his cabin. He had been dead for a number of days. His welfare check was in the was delivered Wednesday, indicating he died before then.
"We will miss him . .. especially my horse, who won't understand why he won't get any more sugar," Mrs. Nashwinter said as she explained she used to ride her horse in the backwoods. Mr. Frerich (sic) always had sugar for him.
As a recluse, Mr. Frerichs didn't bathe and according to Mrs. Nashwinter "was black and stunk."
"Maybe that's why he had trouble making friends with other people," she said.
Mrs. Nashwinter expressed two wishes: that there would be a funeral for their friend so they can buy flowers and that they can find a home for his puppies, which he adored.

TOWN OF TONAWANDA — Gertrude I. (Retzlaff) Schmidt, age 90, of the Town of Tonawanda, formerly of Bergholz, was called to her heavenly home on January 11, 2011 in Kenmore Mercy Hospital. Born in the Town of Wheatfield, NY, on October 11, 1920 to the late Theodore and Marie (Bremer) Retzlaff.

A lifelong member of St. James Ev. Lutheran Church in Bergholz, she was employed at Moore Business Forms in Niagara Falls, Bell Aerospace in Wheatfield, and Sugar Kake in Buffalo. Gert was predeceased by her husband, Howard L. Schmidt in 1982; a daughter, Cathy Flynn; a son, Thomas Schmidt; and two sisters, Genevive Retzlaff and Dorothy Mueller.

Survivors include her twin sons, Mark (Irene) Schmidt of Bergholz and Michael (Janeen) Schmidt of Sanborn; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Improvised Farm Machine Fatally Injures Six-year-old on Bergholtz Farm.
Six-year-old Genevieve Retzloff (sic), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thedore (sic) Retzloff (sic), Bergholtz, was fatally injured at 4:45 p. m. yesterday when she fell from a tractor operated by her father on his farm. and one of the rear wheels of the machine passed over her head, fracturing and crushing her skull. The father rushed the child to Memorial hospital but she was dead when she was carried into the hospital. Coroner W. L. Draper issued a certificate of accidental death after an investigation of the case.
The little girl was playing with two other children on the farm and called to her father, asking if she might ride the tractor. She and the other children climbed on a running board, the tractor having been improvised from an old automobile. Retzloff (sic) started off with the children on the running board, according to investigation by authorities. They enjoyed the fun of riding for a time and then the tractor struck a deep hole in the ground and lurched. Genevieve lost her hold on the car and was jolted from it to the ground, her head falling under the machine and one of the rear wheels passing over it. The other children maintained their positions on the tractor and were not injured.
Retzloff (sic) stopped the tractor and picked up the crushed form of his little daughter. Aided by another man, he rushed with her to the hospital but she was dead when he arrived there.

Walter A. Wienke, 92, of Jagow Road, a Sanborn farmer and businessman, died Tuesday (Nov. 5, 1996) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston.
Born in Sanborn, Wienke lived there most of his life.
He married Frances Ferchen in 1930, and they moved to Ward Road. Twenty-five years later, they built a home on Saunders Settlement Road, Sanborn, where he operated the 60-acre Wienke Farm with his bother, Clarence.
A pond on the farm allowed the brothers to irrigate all their fruit and vegetable crops, which were highly regarded in the area.
In 1936, the brothers started a greenhouse business, growing flowers and vegetable plants for nurseries.
Wienke was a spokesman for the Market Growers Co-Op and is credited with helping save the Niagara Falls Farmers Market from closing in 1963.
In his younger days, Wienke played the sousaphone in the well-known Gombert Band.
He was a member of Abiding Saviour Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda. He was a former member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Niagara Falls, where he served on the vestry as trustee and president.
He was an exempt member of Sanborn Volunteer Fire Company and a member of the Niagara County Extension Service.
His wife died in 1994.
Wienke is survived by a son, Glenn L. of Sanborn; a sister, Hilda Ferchen of Tucson, AZ.; three granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday in Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, Ruie Road and Cambridge Avenue, North Tonawanda. Burial will be in Acacia Park Cemetery, Pendleton

She was a former resident of the Town of Wheatfield and had resided in Arizona since 1973. She was born May 8, 1910, in the Town of Lewiston, and was the daughter of Adolph and Bertha Wienke (nee Haseley). She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Bergholz, and the Ladies Aid Society. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, playing bingo and traveling.

Hilda was the wife of the late Hubert Ferchen, who died in 1989; they were married June 11, 1933, in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Sanborn. Beloved mother of Audrey (Glenn) Schmidli of Wheatfield; grandmother of Kenneth (Vicky) Schmidli of Black Hawk, CO, Mark Schmidli of Niagara Falls, Darleen (John) Finn of North Tonawanda and Doreen (Richard) Parisse of Wilson. Clarence H. “"Dutch"” Jagow, age 85, entered into rest on Friday January 23, 2004 at Mount St. Mary's Hospital, after a short illness. Born September 14, 1918 in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, son of the late Edward N. and Elizabeth (Wienke) Jagow.
Mr. Jagow served as a Sargent in the Army Air Force enlisting in 1942 and was honorably discharged in 1945. Clarence served as a City of Niagara Falls Firefighter for 28 years, retiring in 1981. Mr. Jagow was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed his family and friends, he especially enjoyed camping and fishing in the Finger Lakes.
Mr. Jagow was preceded in death by his brothers, Howard, Edward and Harold Jagow.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy (Schwenkbeck) Jagow, his children Beverly Parise of Niagara Falls, Barbara (Daniel) LaBernardo of Lewiston, and Richard (Rosalind) Jagow of Youngstown; a sister, Elinor Murtaugh. Clarence is also survived by his grandchildren, Danny and Kendra LaBernardo, Richard and Justin Jagow and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Murtaugh was a longtime member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. Elinor enjoyed traveling and going to lunch with her friends. Above all, she loved spending time with her family.


Mrs. Murtaugh was predeceased by her husband, William Murtaugh on April 8, 1975 and four brothers, Howard, Edward, Clarence (Dorothy of Niagara Falls, NY) and Harold Jagow. Jagow, 71, of Dana Drive died Thursday (Aug. 12, 1993) in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center after a long illness.
A native of Niagara Falls, Jagow worked at the former Bell Aircraft Co. and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He later worked at Carborundum in Wheatfield for 40 years and was associated with the former Varsity Sports Shop in Pine Plaza for 30 years.
Jagow was a charter member of the Lutheran Church of the Escarpment, where he was a former deacon, trustee and financial secretary. He was a member of the Protestant Church Men's Bowling League, the Retired Men's Golf League and the Carborundum Alumni Association.
Survivors include his wife, the former Betty Milotta; a brother, Clarence Jagow; and a sister, Elinor Murtaugh, both of Niagara Falls.

He was an avid reader of the Bible and devotional books. Herb married Eleanor (DuBois) Wienke on January 22, 1938, who predeceased him in 1998. Born in the Town of Wheatfield, NY on June 8, 1920; the daughter of John and Marie (Nantke) Wienke. Florence was a devoted homemaker and was employed as a clerk at Parson's Drug Store in Tonawanda for 30 years. She was the oldest member of Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda, where she had been active with the Ladies Missionary League, and Altar Guild; member of the Tonawanda Senior Citizens, and the American Legion Post 264 Ladies Auxiliary for over 50 years. 
Florence was predeceased by her husband, Charles Donner in 1987; two brothers, Herbert, and Richard Wienke; a sister, Mildred Motchenbaugh; and a great-granddaughter.
Survivors include two children, Ann (Raoul) Guedesse of Niagara Falls, NY and Lowell (Frances) Donner of St. Louis, MO; a sister, Lorraine Werth; three brothers, Ervin, Edward (Jessie), and Nelson (Dora) Wienke; grandsons, Richard Guedesse of Niagara Falls, NY, Charles (Shelie) Guedesse of Cheektowaga, NY, Michael Guedesse of Niagara Falls, NY, and Matthew (Gina) Guedesse of Sierra Vista, AZ; great-grandmother of 10, great-great-grandmother of 11; a very special niece and Goddaughter,Joselyn Szafranski; and many other nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends may call at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield, on Tuesday (July 30) from 4-8 p.m. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Frances M. Voelker was born in the Town of Lewiston, New York on February 16, 1909 to Christian and Emma (Wienke) Haseley. She attended St. Peter's Lutheran School in Walmore. A member of St. James Ev. Lutheran Church in Bergholz, where she had been very active, along with being the church custodian for fifty years.
She was a member of the Historical Society in Bergholz, enjoyed flower gardening, sewing, and always willing to help others in need.
Frances was called to her heavenly home on Tuesday, May 21, 2002 at the Schoellkopf Health Center in Niagara Falls, where she had been a resident since March of 1999, at the age of 93.
Services will be conducted by the Rev. David B. Menz on Saturday, May 25th, at 11:00 a.m. in St. James Ev. Lutheran Church. Interment in St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Wheatfield, New York.
Survivors include two daughters: Phyllis (husband Ray) Wienk, and Lois (Wilbert) Milleville; eight grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Irma Haseley. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Henry Voelker in 1973; and four brothers and sisters: Clarence Haseley, Evelyn Brown, Melvin Haseley, and Mabel Harder.

BERGHOLTZ - Melvin C. Haseley, 66, of Bergholtz died yesterday (Dec. 5, 1983) in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.
A native of the Town of Lewiston, he lived in Bergholtz for more than 40 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He had been employed as a pressman for Moore Business Forms for 36 years, before retiring in 1968.
He was a member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, a past commander of the Wheatfield American Legion Post 1451, an exempt member of the Bergholtz Volunteer Fire County, and a member of the VFW Post 9011 in Niagara Falls.
Survivors include his wife, Winifred (Franke); two sons, Arthur of Tonawanda, and Bruce of Bergholtz; a daughter, Mrs. James O. (Diana) Winch of Grand Island; a brother, Clarence Haseley of Bergholtz; two sisters, Mrs. Henry (Frances) Volker of Bergholtz and Mrs. Norman (Mabel) Harder of North Tonawanda; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Evelyn Brown.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. John Crilley officiating. Burial will be at St. James Lutheran Cemetery. HAROLD R. WIENKE, age 93 of Bergholz, Town of Wheatfield, NY, entered into his heavenly home on January 1, 2019 at the Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on January 12, 1925; son of the late Reinhard and Gertrude (Voelker) Wienke. Harold attended St. James Lutheran School, LaSalle High School, and Coyne Electrical College, in Chicago, IL. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943 and was assigned to the Carrier Aircraft Service Unit, where he did electrical service work on single engine fighter planes, Grumman F6F and Corsair F4U. He was honorably discharged in May 21, 1946, AEM2nd C.
Harold joined his father's business, R.E. Wienke & Son, Electrical Contractors, retiring in 1987. He was a charter member of the American Legion Wheatfield Post 1451, and was active in obtaining the Post's first home on Rohr Street, in Bergholz, a one-room schoolhouse, as a gift from the local school district. Harold served in various offices in the Legion, including Commander. He headed the grave-decorating committee for many years and often took his grandchildren with him, to place or collect flags at Niagara County cemeteries. Harold was a charter member of the Wheatfield Business Association, and served as its first treasurer. He joined the Bergholz Volunteer Fire Company, at the age of 21, and was a 72 year exempt member, serving various offices including President. Harold was a life long member of St. James Lutheran Church, in Bergholz, where he was baptized, confirmed and married by his neighbor, the Rev. Otto Bruss. During most of his life, he lived just a few steps from his beloved St. James.
Harold enjoyed family get-togethers and dinners, backyard softball, board games, cards and bowling. His bowling team consisted of seven other American Legion members, who were also all Lutherans from different area churches.
Harold enjoyed his B&E (Baseball and Euchre). The club had monthly card games, dinners and picnics, and a yearly trip to a major league ballpark for the weekend.
Baseball was Harold's favorite sport. In later years he enjoyed watching the Yankee Channel on TV. In the past, he and four friends saw the Cleveland Indians win a 1948 World Series game, where he saw center fielder Larry Doby play, who was the first Afro-American League player. Over the years, he and his wife, Peggy, visited 15 major league cities to see games.
Harold married his high school sweetheart, Peggy Lou Parris, on August 21, 1948, enjoying 70 years of marriage. She predeceased Harold just three months ago, passing away on October 1, 2018.
Also preceding him in death was his sister, Janice and brother in law, Eugene Camann. Harold's parent's both came from large families. His father, Reinhard Wienke, had 11 sisters and brothers, and his mother, Gertrude Voelker, had 10 sisters and brothers. Of the many Voelker cousins (21), Lois Milleville, is the only surviving cousin.
Harold is survived b y his two daughters, Jennifer Parris (David Hardy) and Suzanne Wienke (Christine Pyjas); grandchildren, Richard (Heather) Skorik, Andrew Skorik, Tiffany (Darren) Palmer, Lindsey Graca, and Eric (Trista) Graca; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Kristin, Drake, Serena, Nadia, Nathaniel, Autumn and Kailan. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and dear family friend, Erich Marzahl.
Private services for the immediate family will be conducted by the Rev. Dan Tabor, at DuBois Funeral Home (Bergholz) in Wheatfield. TUCSON, AZ — Wallace V. Moll, age 92, went to his heavenly home on June 4, 2012, after a long illness. Wallace passed away at Odyssey Hospice, Tucson, AZ.

He is survived by his caring wife, Barbara Stratiff Moll; daughters, Deborah (Paul) Lexlow, Chagrin Falls, OH and Sara (Craig) Peterson, Pittsford, NY; sons, Wallace (Angela) Moll, Carmel, IN and Andrew Moll, Huston, TX; brother, Robert Moll, Buffalo Grove, IL; sister, Dolores (Paul) Silade, Connersville, IN; five granddaughters; one grandson; and two great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by his brother, Norman (Eleanor) Moll, Wheatfield, NY.

Wallace was born on May 25, 1920, in Wheatfield, NY, the son of the late Gustav and Esther Wienke Moll. Wallace had fond memories of growing up on a farm and enjoyed talking about driving a tractor at a very young age, milking the cows, and doing chores. "It was the best life for a kid," he would say. Equally important was his pride in his rich German heritage. In the 1840's, a large group of Lutherans immigrated to western New York and established communities in the area. The church members had been persecuted in their homeland, so with great courage and determination, they left family, friends, and possessions to start a new life in America, where they would be able to worship and establish schools in freedom. Wallace was a descendant of these courageous people and spoke Low German as a first language. Wallace attended Holy Ghost Lutheran School in Bergholz, NY. He was president of the senior graduating class at Trott Vocational High School in Niagara Falls, NY, and graduated from Tri-Sate University in Angola, IN, with a degree in Engineering.

Wallace was an accomplished, well-known architect. He began his career in industry, but later opened an office in Niagara Falls, designing schools in the local community. Later, he obtained his architectural license and began to specialize in church design in eastern United States and Canada. There are numerous houses of worship that attest to his talents combining aesthetics and worship. Wallace also designed townhouses, municipal buildings, private homes, and elderly housing.

Wallace served in the Navy during World War II. He was a past president of the New York State Society of Professional Engineers, Erie-Niagara Chapter; a Fellow member of the Society of American Registered Architects, as well as a past board member; a member of the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers-Canada; and a recipient of many awards, including the Gold Medal from the American Society of Registered Architects, their highest award.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Youngstown, NY, where a memorial service will be held at a later date.

She was born Sept. 12, 1913, in Wheatfield, the daughter of Adolf and Eleonore (Retzlaff) Haseley.
On Sept. 21. 1935, she married Arthur P. DuBois in Niagara Falls.
Mrs. DuBois was a member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. where she belonged to the Ladies Aide (sic) and Alter Guild for many years. She also was an exempt member of the Bergholz Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary.
She enjoyed needlepoint and crocheting.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Duane DuBois of Wheatfield; a daughter, Jane Andrews of Sanborn; two brothers, Melvin Walck of Farmington, Mich., and Norman Walck of Sanborn; two sisters, Helen Waldkoetter of North Tonawanda and Doris Toellner of Madison Heights. Mich.; two granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Chester Walck.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, where the Ladies Auxiliary of the Bergholz Fire Co. will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. today. The Rev. Philip N. Sallach will conduct services at 11 a.m. Monday in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, Niagara Road and Luther Street. Interment will be in Holy Ghost Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield.

Norman A. Walck, retired water superintendent of the Town of Wheatfield, died Tuesday (July 18, 2000) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a brief illness. He was 77.
He retired in 1988 after 34 years with the Town of Wheatfield.
A World War II veteran of the Army Air Forces, Walck was a past commander of American Legion Post 1451 in Wheatfield.
He also had served as president of the Wheatfield Business Association and as secretary of the American Waterworks Association, and was on the board of the former Bergholz Fire Insurance Co.
Walck was an exempt member of the Sanborn Fire Company.
He enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, the former Audrey Mueller; a son, Robert of Chicago; a daughter, Cheryl Hayes of Lockport; two sisters, Helen Waldkoetter of North Tonawanda and Doris Toellner of Michigan; a brother, Melvin of Michigan; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 A.M. Friday in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, on Walmore Road in Wheatfield. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

WHEATFlELD - Chester E. Walck, 65, of Hoover Road, died Saturday. (Dec. 5, 1992) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston. He was born in Wheatfield on Dec. 22, 1926, the son of August and Eleanor Walck. He was a lifelong resident of Wheatfield and a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church on Walmore Road, where he also was a past trustee.
Walck worked, at the Harrison Radiator Division of General Motors in Lockport for 34 years, retiring in 1989. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Wheatfield Republican Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and family life.

Helen W. Waldkoetter (Gath) (nee Walck) of North Tonawanda, was taken by Jesus to her Heavenly home on December 2, 2008 while in Niagara Hospice House, after a 12 year courageous battle with cancer. Helen was a graduate of the Buffalo General School of Nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse in the Obstetrics Unit at DeGraff Memorial Hospital until the early 1970’s. In the early 1980’s she began a career as a much loved tour escort in the travel industry as a co-founder of, The Way to Go Tours. She was a very active and devoted member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and for many years she worked for the Niagara County Board of Elections. She was the daughter of the late August and Eleaner Walck and was the wife of the late Irving Gath. NIAGARA FALLS — Howard Edward Phillip Walck, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2011, at the age of 94, in Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay, Ontario. He was born in the Town of Wheatfield, on December 30,1917, the son of the late Felix and Agatha (Retzlaff) Walck.

Howard attended St. Peter's Lutheran School and church where he served as a Trustee. He graduated from Cornell Agricultural School. Howard was the co-owner and operator of the former Walck's Dairy from 1935 until 1971. He then worked with the Niagara County Highway Department until his retirement. He enjoyed spending his winters in Florida, where he was a member and elder of the Christ Lutheran Church and his summers at his cottage in Canada. Howard enjoyed fishing, gardening and playing cards with his dear friends.

He was the husband of the late Lillian (Retzlaff) Walck, they were married in June of 1939, she predeceased him on April 26, 1978. Howard is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" (Hough) Walck. They where married on May 17, 1979. Three sons, Howard (Shirley), Douglas (Susan), Dennis (Judy) Walck; eight grandchildren, Brent (Andrea), Bruce (Jennifer) Walck, Jennifer (Curt) Muma, Craig (Jessica), Ashleigh and Phillip Walck, Kari (Rob) Corsaro, Adam (Amber) Walck; three great-grandchildren, Nathan, Alyssa and Robbie; one sister, Jennis (late Harold) Pankow; three step-sons, Gordon (Linda), Steven (Gabrielle) and Peter (Lori) Hough; four-step grandchildren, Andrew (Lee) Hough, Michelle (Jayson) Millson, Kyle and Benn Hough; three great-grandchildren, Cooper, Abigail and Isabelle Hough; also many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Bruce Walck.

WHEATFIELD - Alice B. (Retzlaff) Walck, age 87, of Wheatfield, was called peacefully to her heavenly home, to be with her Lord and Savior on October 16, 2012 at her residence. Born in the Town of Wheatfield, NY, on July 22, 2012, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Lily (Pfuhl) Retzlaff. Alice attended St. Peter's Lutheran School in Walmore and was a 1943 graduate of LaSalle High School. She was employed at the former Bell Aircraft and later at the Carborundum Company - Bonded Abrasives division in Niagara Falls, until her retirement in 1983. Alice was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church, Wheatfield, where she was with the St. Peter's Quilters. She was also a member of the Ransomville Seniors and enjoyed gardening, flowers and traveling. WHEATFIELD - Willis S. Retzlaff, who served as town assessor for 27 years and was active in community and church affairs, died of a heart attack Saturday in his home. He was 78.
Mr. Retzlaff was born in Wheatfield and attended local schools. He served in the Air Force and was a member of Wheatfield Post 1451, American Legion.
He was a lifelong farmer and a skilled carpenter who built several homes in the area.
He was town assessor from 1972 to 1999 and the following year was appointed to the Zoning Board of Appeals. He had been president of the Niagara County Assessors Association and an officer of the New York State Assessors Association.
Mr. Retzlaff was an active member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he served as president, elder and financial secretary. At the time of his death, he was chairman of the cemetery committee.
He was a charter member and past president of the Wheatfield Lions Club and was serving as treasurer at the time of his death.
He was named Lion of the Year in 1991 and won two other Lions awards: the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award in 1994 and the Robert Uplinger Distinguished Service Award in 1998.
He was a charter member of the Wheatfield Republican Club; member and past president of the Wheatfield Business Association; treasurer of the Wheatfield Family Picnic Committee; a former member of the Bergholz German Band; a member of the town Historical Society; and a volunteer for Kids Voting.
He enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, the former Lois Hassan; a daughter, Debra Sheehan of Bergholz; a son, Randall of Wheatfield; a sister, Alice Walck of Sanborn; a brother, Kenneth of Wheatfield; and six grandchildren-.

Willis Sherman Retzlaff

Willis Sherman Retzlaff was born on June 7,1927 to Arthur and Lily (Pfuhl) Retzlaff. He was baptized on June 19, 1927 and confirmed on April 14, 1940. Willis was united in marriage to Lois Hassan on September 8, 1951. They were blessed with two children, Debra and Randall.
Willis was a life long member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church where he served as President of the Congregation, financial secretary, Elder and presently as Chairman of the Cemetery Committee.
Willis farmed for many years then went into carpentry and built many homes in the area. He was elected Assessor for the Town of Wheatfield and served in that capacity for 27 years, retiring in 1999.
He was a charter member, past President and currently served as Treasurer of the Wheatfield Lions Club. He was named Lion of the year in 1991, received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award in 1994 and the Robert Uplinger Distinguished Service Award in 1998. He was a charter member of the Wheatfield Republican Club, member of the Wheatfield Senior Citizens, member and past President of the Wheatfield Business Association and treasurer of the Wheatfield Family Picnic Committee, a former member of the Bergholz Band, member of the Historical Society, was a volunteer for Kids Voting each year, was a former President of Niagara County Assessor's Association, a former officer of the New York State Assessor's Association, served in the U.S. Air Force, and was a member of the American Legion-Wheatfield Post 1451, member of the Wheatfield Zoning Board of Appeals.
Willis enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren and helping anyone in need.
On Saturday, August 20, 2005, at home, unexpectedly Willis was called to be with His Lord.
He is survived by his wife, Lois, daughter, Debra (Theodore) Sheehan, son, Randall; grandchildren, Theodore (Holly) Sheehan Ill, Becky, Tim and Tom Sheehan, Amanda and Scott Retzlaff; a sister, Alice Walck, a brother, Kenneth (Dianne) Retzlaff; sisters-in-law, Joanne (Edwin) Scherrer, Betty Lou (George) Lozina and Sally Archer and many nieces and nephews.

He was a member of the Wheatfield Republican Club, was a trustee at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, and a member of the building committee of the new addition of the church. Ken enjoyed golfing, hunting, and spending time at the cabin.Survivors include his loving wife; six children, Brian (Sandra) Retzlaff, Gary Retzlaff, Sandra (Steven) Lange, Carol (Leonard) Binns, David (Allison) Retzlaff, Dale (Lisa) Retzlaff; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Rev. Eugene W. Beutel, 77, of Camp Hill, formerly of Freehold and Neptune, NJ, passed away Monday, April 25, 2005 in Holy Spirit Hospital.
Born July 27, 1927 in Sanborn, NY, he was the son of the late Edwin and Alice Beutel.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving as Army Chaplain in Korea from 1953-1955 and a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal. He served as a Mission Pastor in Baltimore, MD and Neptune, NJ. While living in Freehold, NJ, he was the Mission and Service Director of the American Lutheran Church in the Northeast Area. He obtained his Doctor of Ministry from Princeton University and went on to serve as Coordinator of Region 8 for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
Rev. Beutel is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dolores M. Hanson; three sons, David Beutel and wife, Robin Marek of North Kingston, RI, Paul Beutel and wife, Teena of Newport, PA and Jonathan Beutel of Manasquan, NJ; eight siblings and eight grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 A.M. on Monday, May 2, 2005, in Saint Timothy Lutheran Church, 4200 Market Street, Camp Hill. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. BEUTEL, ALLEN E. Ph.D. Allen E. Beutel of La Jolla passed away early the morning of November 25, 2003. He was born in Sanborn, New York on January 21, 1930. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War and married Patricia, his wife of 52 years, in 1951. Allen moved his young family to San Diego in 1962 and pursued a career in Information Management within the Aerospace Industry and Federal Government. During his career, Allen served as Special Assistant to the Undersecretary of the Navy for Data Automation and held the position of Executive Director of the Office of Information Resources Management for the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in Washington, D.C. He received his Masters Degree in Public Administration from San Diego State University in 1972 and his Ph.D. in Public Administration from the University of Southern California in 1976. During his retirement, Allen enjoyed spending more time with his family, attending baseball games, playing golf with friends and continuing his love for teaching as an adjunct faculty member of the University of Redlands in their Master of Arts in Management Program. Longtime Sanborn resident Kenneth E. Beutel, a retired tool-and-die machinist, died unexpectedly Friday in his Buffalo home. He was 73.
Born in Wheatfield, Mr. Beutel attended Trott Vocational School in Niagara Falls. A Sanborn resident most of his life, he moved to Buffalo in recent years.
He was employed as a tool-and-die machinist at Bell Aerospace during the 1960s and worked for several other companies over the years, including a stint as a landscaper. He retired in 2001.
Mr. Beutel was a member of the Sanborn Fire Company Band and St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Walmore. In Buffalo, he was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church and was a volunteer at DeGraff Memorial Hospital in North Tonawanda and Buffalo General Hospital. He also did volunteer work for the St. Vincent de Paul Society and enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include a daughter, Vicki Doucette of North Tonawanda; a son, Bradley of Baltimore; three sisters, Janette Kroening of Sanborn, Beatrice White of Albany and Audrey Mattrese of Scottsdale, AZ.; four brothers, Edwin and James, both of Sanborn, the Rev. LeRoy of Fredericksburg, Va., and the Rev. Donald of Baltimore; and four grandchildren.

Family was most important to Ruth and, over the years, her love also embraced a large extended family. She will be remembered for her generosity of time and talent and her ability to meet life's challenges with abiding faith, love, and resiliency. Ruth partnered in the family farming business--working in the fields alongside her husband, making meals for the workers, and doing the bookkeeping. She also worked for the Niagara County Board of Elections.
Ruth enjoyed crocheting, cooking, arts/crafts, traveling, and planning events.
She will be dearly missed by all that knew her.
Ruth was the beloved wife of 62 years to LaVern E. Haseley, loving mother of Jane (Frank) Donato, Bonnie Mehls, Cindy (Timothy) Engleka, Ann (Frank) Testman, Charles Haseley and the late James Haseley, cherished grandmother of 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, she is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Leonard Beutel and late James Morgan.

Leonard H. Beutel, of Sanborn, NY, loving father and grandfather, passed away Wednesday, November 19,2014 in Northgate Manor Nursing Home. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on April 25, 1930 the son of the late Rudolph and Louise [Mueller] Beutel.

A lifelong resident of Sanborn, he graduated from LaSalle High School. Leonard served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where he married his beloved, Mabel De Vantier in 1954.

Leonard was a milkman for Hoover's Dairy for 41 years, where he was well-known and loved as "Lenny the Milkman", before retiring in 1999. Leonard enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, teaching them German, making them laugh and sharing many stories, always with a smile on his face.

Devoted husband of 47 years to the late Mabel (DeVantier) Beutel, who died on November 15, 2001. Dear father of Larry Beutel, Loren (Annette) Beutel, and Linda (Scott) Hasley, loving grandfather of Benjamin(Sarah), Daniel, Nathan, Bethany, Julia, Collin, Connor and Trevor, great grandfather of Audrey and Bryson. He is also survived by a sister, Ruth (LaVern) Haseley and a sister-in-law, Elaine (Melvin) Pfohl and by several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Dorothy Beutel.
