North Tonawanda, Dec. 28 (Special) - Mrs. Lena L. Rhodes, the wife of Ald. John Rhodes, died in a Buffalo hospital late last evening. Mrs. Rhodes had been ill for several months, but her consition was not considered serious until a short time ago when she was removed to the Women's hospital in Buffalo. Local Man Dies At Wheel of Auto
Stricken with a heart attack while driving his automobile home from work at the Electro-Metallurgical company in Niagara Falls at 2 a. m. today, Carl F. Proefrock, 53, of 98 Felton street, was found slumped over the wheel of his car on the River road in the LaSalle section of the Falls, lifeless.
Coroner James Heary of Niagara Falls investigated and issued a certificate of death from a heart ailment. Proefrock had been under the care of a local physician for some time.
Proefrock was a lifelong resident and member of St. Peter's church on Oliver street and Sutherland Lodge, No. 826, F.&A.M.
He is survived by his wife, Amanda A., nee Kowsky; two daughters, Mrs. Rowland E. Stubbs and Mrs. Elmer H. Holrod; three grandchildren and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Proefrock, all of North Tonawanda.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. from the residence with the Rev. J. J. Braun officiating. Burial will be in Friedens cemetery.

NORTH TONAWANDA — Helene A. Stubbs passed away peacefully at Northgate Health Care Facility on January 20, 2011, at the age of 94. She was born April 22, 1916 in North Tonawanda, daughter of the late Carl and Amanda Proefrock.

Mrs. Stubbs worked as a telephone operator until it was time to raise her children. She had worked for over twenty years as the assistant box office manager at Melody Fair. Mrs. Stubbs was a lifetime member of the North Tonawanda PTA starting as a member of the Wurlitzer PTA. She was a member of Rescue Fire Company Auxiliary for over 50 years, member of the North Tonawanda Youth Board for 12 years including several years as its chairman, long time volunteer at DeGraff Memorial Hospital Pediatrics Ward having over 7000 hours of service.

Wife of the late Roland E. Stubbs; mother of David (Edna) Stubbs and the late Barbara (James) Frase; grandmother of Kevin Stubbs, Darlene Stubbs, Jon (Laura) Frase, Jeanine (Thomas) Olsen and Steven Frase; great-grandmother of Jonathan Burdette, Charles Baudendistle, Amanda, Timothy and Mark Frase.

Dallas was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed cooking and baking with her husband and was well known for her homemade cookies, pizza and sausage.
Dallas is survived by her daughter, Gail (Ronald) Muffler; grandchildren, Michelle (Kris) Christensen and Kimberly (Robert) Castiglione; great-grandchildren, Michael, Brooke Christensen and Joseph, Nicholas Castiglione; two sisters-in-law, Marge (late Emedio) D’Angelo and Phyllis (late Walter) Peters and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and husband, Dallas was predeceased by her son, Jeffrey LaBarber; brother, Rollin Broeker and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

DONALD Eckhardt PROEFROCK, age 79 of Wheatfield, NY, was called to his heavenly home on December 21, 2020 at the Niagara Hospice House, Lockport. Born in North Tonawanda, NY on September 12, 1941; son of the late Eckhardt and Edna (Beiswanger) Proefrock. A graduate of North Tonawanda High School, he was employed at National Fuel for forty years. Don served in the Army Reserve, was a life long member of St. John Lutheran Church in Wheatfield, where he served as an usher, and on the school board. Don was also an active member of the St. Johnsburg Fire Company for 59 years, holding various offices, and a member of the Wheatfield Planning & Zoning Board for over 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the quality time spent with his family, especially the grandchildren, and camping with family. Don loved his Friday night outings with close friends at the fire hall, for just "one beer". He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elaine C. David E., July 11, 1983, of Colden, N.Y., father of Lori Jean and Michael David Grawe; son of the late Edwin and Laura Grawe; dear nephew of the late William and Irene Rauch; survived by other aunts and uncles. David R. Stubbs, age 79 of Ransomville, died Saturday June 1, 2019 in the Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.
David was born November 11, 1939 in North Tonawanda, the son of the late Rowland and Helene (Proefrock) Stubbs. He was a graduate of North Tonawanda. High School, attended Erie Community College, and received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Clarkson College before attending Cornell University. David was an Electrical Engineer for Bell Aerospace, and consulted with Lockheed Martin. He was also affiliated with the WNY Institute for Psychotherapy and worked seven years at Melody Fair in North Tonawanda. David was a caretaker at Camp Windy Meadows since 1993. David was an accomplished guitarist and a 30 year member of the Lockport Federation of Musicians.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Edna G. (Sherman) Stubbs, whom he married May 26, 1962; his children, Darlene L. Stubbs and Kevin D. Stubbs both of Ransomville; and his grandchildren, Jonathan L. Burnett and Charles Baudendistle (fiancé Rachel Dutton). He was predeceased by a sister, Barbara H. Frase.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Wednesday, June 5, from 5 to 8 pm. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Girl Scouts of WNY, for Windy Meadows Camp, 5000 Cambria Rd., Lockport, NY 14094.

Douglas J. Etue, of Ransomville, NY, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2022.
He was born in Lewiston, NY on June 8, 1966, the son of Patricia [Broeker] Etue and the late Melvin "Jim" Etue.
Doug graduated from Niagara Wheatfield and Orleans-Niagara BOCES as a welder. He was employed with DuPont in Niagara Falls for many years and was a member of the Pekin Fire Company. Doug and his brother Chris were former owners of E-Man Motorsports and involved at Ransomville Speedway Go-Kart classes.
Doug enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and loved his pups.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his longtime companion Marcy Lombardo; his sister Nicole J (Brian) Scavone; loving uncle of Liviana and Colin Scavone; nephew of Susan (Kevin) Guenther; dear friend of Jon and Jill MacSwan and Marcy's sons Christopher, Joey and grandson Leonardo. He was the brother of the late Christopher Etue.
His family will be present on Friday from 4-7 PM at RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY, where funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM.

Christopher Jon Etue, 31, of Niagara Falls, NY, died suddenly October 18, 2002, at his home. He was born on November 18, 1970, in Lewiston, NY, the son of M. James and Patricia [ Broeker ] Etue, of Sanborn, NY.

Christopher attended Niagara Wheatfield High School and was a graduate of BOCES with an auto mechanic degree, in 1989. He had participated in the NWAA wrestling and football programs for several years. He was also a member of the Boy Scouts of America Troop # 877, for many years. He was a former member of the Pekin Volunteer Fire Company.

Christopher was the Co-owner of the E-Man Racing, with his brother Douglas J. Etue, of Sanborn, NY. He was an avid snowmobiler and had piloted ultra-lite aircraft, in Olcott, NY.

Surviving in addition to his parents and brother, are his fiancee Angela Colavecchia, special friend Joshua Colavecchia; a sister Nicole J. Etue, of Sanborn; his maternal grandmother, Frances Broeker-Wiseman, of Niagara Falls; his aunts, Barbara Whitbeck; Susan Guenther; Janet Hellner and Lois Broeker; and cousins.

The family will be present at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, Sanborn, NY, from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 TUESDAY.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 11 am at the St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 3229 Upper Mountain Road, Sanborn, NY, with the Rev. R. Peter Voegler, officiating.

Burial will be in the Mount View Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
