Mrs. Elisabeth W. Hoffmeister, aged
72 years, widow of David J. Hoffmeister,
a resident of Lockport for a half century,
died suddenly at 11 o'clock at
her late residence. No. 240 Niagara
street, from heart trouble. Deceased
had not been in good health for several
years, but was able to be around
her home.
Mrs. Hoffmeister was born at Fahrenwalde,
Germany, and coming to
this country a young girl, took up her
residence at Bergholtz, where she
married and later moved to Lockport.
She was an active member of the Trinity
Lutheran Church at Saxton street
and a charter member of the Ladies'
Aid Society of that church.
She is survived by four sons, William
J., David W., Fred, Albert, and
two daughters. Rose C. and Alma
Hoffmeister, all of this city.
Funeral services will be held from
her late home at 1:30 p m. Monday,
with services at Trinity Church at 2
p. m. and interment at German Lutheran
Cold Springs cemetery.

Ill for more than 5 years. Walter
K. Beccue, 64, retired police
sergeant and Spanish-American
War Veteran, died Sunday evening
at his home, 32 Carlton Place.
Mr. Beccue was born in Lockport
March 24, 1882, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Abraham Beccue. His father op-
erated a hotel in Park Avenue.
The son attended the former
Hawley and Washburn Street
schools. When war broke out with
Spain he answered the call to the
colors and served with the 42nd
Regiment, U.S. Volunteers, in the
Philippines.
Before failing health forced his
retirement in 1932, Mr. Beccue
served 23 years in the Lockport
Police Department. Appointed a
patrolman on April 1, 1909, he rose
from the ranks to detective sergeant
and served in that capacity for sev-
eral years. Unable to perform the
latter duties because of his health,
he served as desk sergeant for a
short time before he retired.
Mr. Beccue was a member of the
Hickory Club and Lockport Lodge,
73, F&AM.
Surviving are his wife, Amelia
Buhs Beccue; a daughter, Mrs.
Floyd Beyer of Wilson and three
sons, Karl W., William A. and Don-
ald R. Beccue of Lockport. There
are seven grandchildren.
Services will be held Wednesday
at 2:30 at the Clemens O. Gaul
Funeral Home, 263 East Ave.
Burial will be in St. Peter's Ceme-
tery.

Cerebral Hemorrhage Fatal to Miss Elizabeth Beccue.
LOCKPORT Oct. 30-Miss Elizabeth S. Beccue, of 178 Niagara street, a life-long resident, died at 5 o'clock yesterday morning in Lockport City hospital of a cerebral hemorrhage, suffered at her home about 8 o'clock Saturday evening.
She was the daughter of the late August J. and Albertine H. Wendt Beccue. For a number of years she was employed at the grocery store of E. E. Wiliamson (sic) and for the last 13 years had been at the McCarthy Flower shop. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran church. One sister, Alma S. Beccue, and one brother, William A. Beccue, Lockport, survive. Services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2.30 at the home and at 3 o'clock at Trinity Lutheran church. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cold Springs cemetery.

died Tuesday (August 6, 1963) in Inter-Community, Memorial
Hospital, Newfane, after being injured by a horse
last week.
Mr. Beccue was taken to-the
hospital Friday with internal
injuries after a horse he was
riding t h r e w him and then
stepped on his abdomen.
Born in Lockport, March 13,
1897, he was the son of August
and Albertina Wendt Beccue.
After graduating from Lockport
public school he became
employed by Simonds Saw and
Steel Co. He founded the William
A. Beccue Contracting Co.
nine years later and operated
it until his death.
A boating and water enthusiast,
Mr. Beccue developed Beccue
Island at Wilson in 1948.
He also operated Beccue Boat
Basin.
He was u charter member of
the Wilson Yacht Club, past
director of the Wilson Lions
Club and a member of Trinity
Lutheran C h u r c h , Lockport,
and the Lutheran Laymen's
League.
Surviving are his widow,
Priscilla; a son, Edwin J. Beccue
of Wilson; a daughter, Mrs.
Jeannette S. Burton of Kenmore,
and a granddaughter.

The body of Mrs, Ruth Beccue
Bowler, 32, wife of Arthur D. Bowler.
211 North Transit Road, was recovered
from the Barge Canal by
police at 7:30 this morning, less than
two hours after witnesses saw her
plunge from the approach to the
Exchange Street lift bridge.
Mr. and Mrs. Leo marcinek, 5 Mill
St., restaurant operators, and
Michael Hawley, bridge oprator,
told police the woman jumped into
the water at 6:45. Mr. Marcinek
said he would have gone to her
rescue but he feared he would be
struck by an east-bound oil barge
which was approaching.
Mr. Hawley told police he saw the
woman standing by the bridge for
several minutes and supposed she
was waiting for a ride to an East
Lockport plant.
Patrohnen George Gardner and
John R. Kenny were the first police
on the scene. Later Patrolmen Milton
Nachtrieb and Chester Freeman
arrived. The police emergency boat
was used for grappling.
Dr. Jacob E. Helwig. coroner, North
Tonawanda, issued a certificate of
death by suicide. Friends of the
family said Mrs. Bowler was in ill
health and had been despondent
since the recent death of her father.

Bowler, Daniel (Rene) Bowler, Robin Bowler, Neil Pulver, Scott Rocca, Arthur Mauriello, Ruth Ann Schiavetta and late Susan Austin and Laura Jean Bowler; survived by several cousins, several great nieces and nephews and several great-great nieces and nephews. September 18, 1936 — April 7, 2024
Roger A. Bowler Sr., 87, passed away on April 7th at the Orchard Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Medina NY. Born September 18, 1936, in Lockport, NY, he was the son of Arthur and Anna Ruth (Beccue) Bowler.

He is survived by three sons: Roger Bowler Jr. (Belinda) of Ozark MO, Steven Bowler of Lockport and Robin Bowler of Charlotte NC; two sisters: Betsey Pulver (Wayne) of Glendale AZ and Rebecca “Becky” Austin (late Fred) of Gasport; grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nephews; and his long-time partner Eleanor Dugan.

He was predeceased by one daughter, Lorie Bowler, and one son, Daniel E. Bowler; two brothers, David Bowler and Dennis Bowler; two grandaughters: Diana Rose Bowler and Stephanie Marie Bowler; and his step-mother Arlene (Till) Bowler.

Roger, who attended Lockport and Barker Schools, was an accomplished automotive mechanic. He also worked at Diamond Alkali and Harrison Radiator, where he retired after many years.

Obituary of Floyd A. Beyer

Middleport: Floyd A. Beyer, age 79, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on June 27, 2021. He was born September 26, 1941 in Lockport to the late Floyd and Thelma (Buccue) Beyer.
Floyd worked as an Electrician for 37 ½ years for the NYS Thruway Authority and was a Junior member of the Wilson Conservation Club for over 50 years. Floyd enjoyed collecting toy tractors and going to toy shows and farm shows. He was an avid hunter as well.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Bev (late Dick), Cornelius, Don, and Sharon Williams.
Floyd is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Helen, children, Doug (Tania), Deb (Rob), Duane (Erin), 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Barbara Beyer, brother-in-law, Richard Williams, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends at the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home 38 State St. Middleport, NY 14105 on Thursday, July 1st from 3:00-7:00pm where his funeral service will be held Friday at 10:00am. Private interment will be held in North Ridge Cemetery in Cambria.

NEWFANE - Sharon Ann (Beyer) Williams, a lifelong resident of Niagara County, was called to her heavenly home to be with our living Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, October 29, 2010 in Newfane Health Facility, after a lifelong battle with diabetes. Born on October 18, 1947 in Lockport, she was the daughter of James Floyd and Thelma F. Beccue Beyer. Sharon graduated from Wilson High School in 1966 and married her husband, Richard G. Williams on February 25, 1967. Sharon enjoyed playing the accordion, spending time with her favorite cousin, Darlene, horseback riding and delivering her Avon on horseback, doing leather work, reading, ceramics and spending time with her family. Sharon is survived by her husband, Richard G. Williams; her son, Michael J. Williams; two grandsons, Matthew J. Williams and Andrew J. Williams; one sister, Beverly J. (late Richard) Cornelius and one brother, Floyd A. (Helen) Beyer. She was predeceased by her brother, Donald (Barbara) Beyer. Karl Beccue, 71, passed away in SC with burial in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Son of Karl and Phylena Thomas Beccue, he was a 1966 graduate of LSHS.
Karl was a proud Marine who served in Vietnam, and a national member of the DAV. In 1999 he retired from GM as an inspector and committeeman. He volunteered for many youth organizations. Karl was active in the Republican Party. He and his wife owned Forget-Me-Not Antiques in Lockport and Menagerie Antiques in SC.
Karl is survived by his loving wife, Connie James Beccue; sister, Patricia Robertson; sister-in-law, Patricia Stolzenberg; and nieces, nephews and cousins. Art Ackerman and family were lifetime friends but loved like family.

LOCKPORT — Richard T. Cornelius suddenly on September 29, 2011. Born on August 3, 1957 in Lockport, the son of Richard L. and Beverly J. (Beyer) Cornelius. Richard graduated from Wilson Central Schools in 1975.

Survived by his mother; children; and brothers, Barry (Joan), Brian and Steven; two nieces; several aunts, uncles, cousins.

A Memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, October 15th for family and friends at Pendleton Center United Methodist Church, 6864 Campbell Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Upstate NY Transplant Services in his memory.
