John Williams died at his residence
on the Boulevard one mile west of
Bergholz, Sunday afternoon at the age
of 81 years. He emigrated with his
parents and numerous other German
families in 1843 locating near the
west end of the county which they
named Bergholz where at that time
t h e r e was nothing but wilderness and
uncultivated lands.
He leaves his wife to whom he was
married in 1858, they having celebrated
their golden wedding seven years ago;
two sons, August at home and E. H.
Williams, at Lockport, two daughters,
Mrs. John Reitzlaff, of Los Agneles,
Cal., and Mrs. Chas. A. Kandt, of Lock-
port, twelve grand children and one
great grand child.
The funeral will be held on Thurs-
day afternoon at the house at 1:30 and
at 2:30 from the Lutheran church at
Bergholz, Rev. Stark officiating. Inter-
ment will be in the German Lutheran
cemetery at Bergholz.

Funeral of Retired Farmer Will Be Held on Tuesday.
BERGHOLTZ, Jan. 24.-Albert(?) Williams, 69 years old, retired farmer and one of the best known residents of the Bergholtz district, died late yesterday afternoon at the family home on the Falls-Buffalo boulevard. Mr. Williams, was seized with a heart attack and was ill only a few hours. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home and at 2:30 from the Holy Ghost church, Bergholtz, of which he was a member. Interment will he in Holy Ghost cemetery.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Mrs. Auguste Mueller Williams; one daughter, Mrs. Henry Siegman, of St. Johnsburg; one son Arthur, of this village; three grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Mary Williams, of Niagara Falls; one brother, Edward, of Lockport, and two sisters, Mrs. Louise Kandt, of Lockport, and Mrs. Helena Retzlaff, of California.

The funeral services for August H. Williams, 69, which were held Tuesday afternoon, was one of the largest funerals ever held in this village. The church was filled to its capacity, About 700 attended. Services were held from. the home on the Buffalo-Falls boulevard at 2 o'clock and at 2.30 from the Holy Ghost Lutheran church. Bearers were Paul Mueller, William Mueller, Edward Mueller, Edward Kandt, Arthur Dubois and William Williams. Flower bearers were Edward Walck, Ervin (sic) Walck, Alfred Walck and Edwin Dubois. Burial was in Holy Ghost cemetery on Binckley street.

Former Niagara Resident Passes
TOWN OF NIAGARA, Sept. 13-Word has been received here of the death of Mrs. Helena Williams Retzlaff, in Los Angeles, Calif., on Thursday, September 7. She is survived by one daughter, Miss Lydia Williams; one son, Emil Williams, of Los Angeles; one brother, Edward H. Williams, of Lockport, and one sister, Mrs. Louise Williams Kandt, also of Lockport. She was a sister of the late August William J. Williams and the late William Williams, of the Niagara Fall (sic), boulevard, Town of Niagara.
Mrs. Retzlaff was 75 years old and was well known in Niagara county where she had resided for many years. She was a daughter of the late John Williams and Mary Williams. The latter died about four years ago at the age of 96 years.
Mrs. Louise Kandt and her daughter Mrs. Erna Kandt Hanning, of Lockport, visited the deceased last winter in California and returned home early this spring, They both left for California last Friday and will attend the funeral of Mrs. Kandt's sister, Mrs. Retzlaff.

Emil Williams, aged 30 years, was,
adjudged insane by a commission in
county court yesterday and committed
to the Buffalo State Hospital. He was
arrested on March 30th, charged with
shooting his aunt, Mrs. Bertha Williams
of La Salle. Since the arrest he
has been acting strangely in the county
Jail. Relatives claim he has been
mentally unbalanced for some time.

NIAGARA FALLS — Arthur W. Milleville, 87, passed away on December 1, 2013, at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence. He was born in Niagara Falls on July 30, 1926, the son of the late Arthur P. and Gertrude (Williams) Milleville.

Arthur graduated from the original LaSalle High School in 1944. He briefly attended Niagara University before being drafted into the United States Army during World War II. He served in the Army Aviation Engineers as a Corporal of the 808 Regiment in the Pacific-Asiatic Theater from December 26, 1944, until his honorable discharge on November 11, 1946. He was the recipient of the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, the Philippines Liberation Ribbon and the Army Occupation Medal.

After his honorable discharge, Arthur attended Valparaiso University in Indiana and graduated in 1950 with a Bachelor's degree in business administration, majoring in accounting and auditing. He held various jobs including Timekeeper at Wurlitzer, Internal Auditor at Bell Aircraft Corporation, Control Clerk at E.I. DuPont deNemours & Company, Accountant for the Chevy Division GM and Goodyear Tire and Rubber Chemical Division. He was an accountant and Administrative Assistant with the Department of State, Division of Cemeteries for Western New York for 29 years. After retirement he volunteered his services with SCORE through the Smal Business Administration.

Arthur was Past Commander and lifetime member of the American Legion Wheatfield Post 1451. He was a NYS American Legion Chairman for Graves Registration and past member of the Bergholtz Fire Company and Sanborn Fire Company Bands, the Kiwanis Club of LaSalle, the LaSalle Sportsmens Club, and the Amherst Male Glee Club.

Arthur was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church in LaSalle and served as an usher and assistant scout master for their Troop 810. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and coaching his son in hockey. He enjoyed gardening and teaching his grandchildren the fine art of growing corn and pumpkins. He was also involved with the Inter-Club City Bowling League at Beverly Lanes for 20 years. Another passion he had was his family's German Culture. He belonged to the Wheatfield German Club and the Wheatfield Historical Society. Arthur loved history, reading books and sharing many stories of his younger life, helping with his family's dairy business.

Arthur is survived by his wife of 56 years, Martha "Myra" (Smith) Milleville; his children, Bryce (Maryann) of New Fairfield, CT, and Kelly (Robert) Braham of Wheatfield, NY; four grandchildren, Bryce and Laura Milleville, Kyle and Kelsey Braham; sister-in-law, Patricia (late Dr. Matthew) Lanighan of Lockport; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Irma (late Robert) Read.

There will be no prior visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service with military honors on Saturday, December 7, 2013, at 10 AM at Grace Lutheran Church, 736 Cayuga Drive, Niagara Falls, NY 14304. Interment will be private in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery in the Town of Lewiston. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Milleville's name to Grace Lutheran Church or Valparaiso University, 1700 Chapel Dr., Valparaiso, IN 46383. WHEATFIELD — Bernice E. Forsey (Williams), age 86, of Wheatfield, was called to her heavenly home on December 16, 2010 at ElderWood Health Care at Crestwood. Born March 30, 1924 in Niagara Falls, NY to the late Arthur and Eleanor (Ferchen) Williams. A lifelong member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Bergholz where she was active in the choir, quilters and the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Bernice was also a member of the Bergholz German Band, Bergholz Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and the Historical Society of North German Settlements in Western New York. During World War II, she worked at Bell Aircraft and later at the Carborundum Company, Abrasives division in Wheatfield. Bernice enjoyed traveling, camping, gardening and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Charles Forsey; five children, Richard (Colleen), Forsey, Bob (Marsha) Forsey, Jim Forsey, Marilyn (Andy) Dawe and Carol (Scott) Misener; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Olive Chaddock, Elaine (Al) Eichin and June (Mike) Stenzel; and brother-in-law, Elmer Forsey.

Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road (Bergholz), in Wheatfield on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Philip N. Sallach on Monday at 11:00 AM in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, corner Niagara Road and Luther Street, in Bergholz. Interment in Holy Ghost Lutheran Cemetery. FacebookTwitterredditOlive Marie "Ollie" Chaddock (Williams), 93, passed peacefully in the company of her beloved sister, Elaine, at her residence in Port Orange, FL. Ollie was born in Niagara Falls, NY, to Eleanor (Ferchen) and Arthur Williams.
The family came to Florida in 1960 where Ollie continued raising her family and began a 15-year career as an accountant clerk and cashier for the Brevard County School Board. She has been a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church for 40 years.
Second to Ollie's love for her family and faith was her passion for gardening. Mounds of coffee grounds and love went into making the backyard of her longtime residence in Titusville an earthly paradise. Ollie also enjoyed traveling about the country as well as abroad.
Ollie is survived by her three children, Thomas, Amy, and Paul Jr.; three grandchildren, Nicole, Chad, and Michelle; and her two sisters, Elaine Eichin and June Stenzel.

BRYCE ARTHUR MILLEVILLE
A beloved husband and father, passed away on Tuesday,  March 7, 2023  at the age of 64 due to a brief illness.  He was born in Niagara Falls, NY on October 9, 1958, a son of the late Arthur and Myra [Smith] Milleville.
He was a graduate of LaSalle Senior High, Niagara University B.S. Chemistry, Loyola University M.S Chemistry and Pace University MBA.  Bryce started out as a chemist in Burt, NY and moved to Chicago, IL, before settling in New Fairfield, CT.   He had an accomplished career in the chemical industry for over 35 years that allowed him to travel the world.
Bryce had a passion for learning and always had an active project going on.  He did extensive work on his house, yard, cars, and boats. He mostly enjoyed spending time with family and friends while vacationing at Drakes Island, ME, camping in the Adirondacks and skiing in Vermont.   He loved being outdoors hunting, fishing or gardening.  An avid Bills and Sabres fan he always made time to come home and attend games with his family.
Those who knew him well will remember how much he loved life and people. He could strike up a conversation with just about anyone.
Bryce is survived by his wife of 38 years Maryann [Dober] Milleville, his children Bryce (Rachel) Milleville and Laura Milleville, his granddaughter Olivia Milleville, a sister Kelly (Robert) Braham, also several nieces and a nephew.

Born in North Tonawanda, NY on March 20, 1941; daughter of the late Clifford and Hilda (Siegmann) Toellner. JoAnn was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Wheatfield. She had been employed with the Niagara Wheatfield Central School District, and was a dedicated loving mother and homemaker. JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Durick on May 3, 2002; and a brother, Jerry Toellner.Survivors include two sons, Kelly Durick and Steven (Stephanie) Durick both of North Carolina; a sister, Betty Brown of Wheatfield; sister in law, Judy Toellner of Arizona; grandchildren, Alexzandrea, Steven, Peyton and Christian all from North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Michael Borgstede, on Wednesday (August 25) at 10:00 a.m. in St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, corner of Niagara Falls Blvd. and Ward Road, in Wheatfield. There will be a visitation period from 9-00 - 10:00 prior to the service, in the church. Interment will follow the service, in the church cemetery. Jerry W. Toellner, age 70, of Ramah, NM, went to be with his Heavenly Father on April 18, 2014. He died peacefully at his Gilbert, AZ home surrounded by family. He was born on July 12, 1943 in North Tonawanda, NY, where he was a member of the Operating Engineers Union Local 463 and worked over 20 years for Haseley Trucking.
Jerry was also a 50-year member of the St. Johnsburg Volunteer Fire Department there. He moved to Arizona in 1986 where he started his own business J & J Excavating & Grading. Once retiring, he moved to Ramah, NM, where he built his dream home in the tall pines of Timberlake Ranch. He was active in the community and served as a member of the board of directors responsible for all road maintenance, repair and snow removal. His greatest love was his family and his hobbies included hunting, fishing and watching NASCAR. Jerry never knew a stranger, he talked to anyone and was loved by everyone.
Predeceased by his daughter, Michele. He is survived by his wife, Judy; daughters, Jill Pennington (Mike) and Stacy Smith-Mills (Mark); grandchildren, Shelby, Lacey, Dillon, Dalton, Ryan and Tyler; and sisters, Betty Brown and JoAnn Durick of North Tonawanda, NY.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 25th from 5-8 PM at Mountain View Funeral Home, 7900 E. Main Street, Mesa, AZ 85207. Service will be on Saturday, April 26th at 1:00 PM at Christ's Greenfield Lutheran Church, 425 S. Greenfield Rd., Gilbert, AZ 85234. Michael L. Stenzel, age 50, of Niagara Falls, NY was called to his heavenly home peacefully into the arms of Jesus, after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Born June 20, 1965 in Niagara Falls, NY to Myron (Mike) and June (Williams) Stenzel. He attended Holy Ghost Lutheran School and graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School in 1983. He was formerly employed at Greene & Kellogg, Superior Lubricants, and Norampac. Michael was an avid Buffalo Sabres fan as well as a NASCAR fan. His sense of humor was unique and enjoyed by many. Michael was a lifelong member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church.

Besides his parents, Michael is survived by his son, Michael Stenzel II, whom he cherished; brother, Jeff (Belinda) Stenzel of Bergholz; sisters, Sandy (Bob) Miller of Houston Texas; and Dawn Stenzel. Michael also leaves behind four nieces, Nicole, Allison, and Sarah Miller of Houston Texas, Riley Stenzel; and one nephew, Kyle Stenzel; two aunts, Ol Chaddock and Elaine (Al) Eichin both of Titusville, FL, several cousins and special family friend, Lois Handley.

Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield, on Friday, October 2nd from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM.

Services will be held Saturday, October 3rd at 10:30 AM in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, corner of Niagara Road and Luther Street in Bergholz, with the Rev. R.P. Vogeler, officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Lutheran Cemetery.

Robert W. Kandt, 69, died Dec. 25, 2022 in the comfort of his home. He was born July 29, 1953 in Lockport, NY and graduated from Lockport Senior High School. He attended the University of Kentucky where he occasionally took classes and eventually graduated in 1983. Kandt was known for his love of the Buffalo Bills (Go Bills!), golf, baseball and most other sports (except definitely not soccer), witty headlines, appropriately placed curse words, beef on weck, and Top 40 hits of his time (inexplicably referred to as "oldies.") Kandt worked at 803 South, a local bar that was regrettably torn down to make room for the underpass on South Broadway. It was at this bar that he honed his musical trivia skills and met his wife. He went on to enjoy his work as Assistant Sports Editor and later as News Editor at the Lexington Herald-Leader, from which he retired in 2012. Kandt moved to Camarillo, CA in 2014, where he golfed as often as possible and volunteered at River Ridge Golf Club in his spare time. He returned to Lexington in 2017, enjoying the proximity of his children and grandchildren and continuing to golf as often as possible. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Catherine Dixon Kandt, daughter Sara (Matt) Galyon, grandchildren Asher and Sky, son Ben (Taylor) Starling, siblings Barbara Kandt, Karen (Mark) Meyer, Susan Kandt, and Charles (LuAnn) Kandt, as well as several nieces, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ruth Meier Kandt. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Woodford Humane Society.
