NORTH TONAWANDA, Nov. 23 - William C. Broeker, 61, died last night at his home. 98 Witmer road, after a heart attack. He was born in the Town of Wheatfield and had resided in this vicinity all his life. Mr. Broeker was a member of St Marks' Lutheran church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Martha Wittkopf Broeker: four sons. Edward, Alfred and Chester, all of this city, and Reynold Broeker, of Wheatfield; five daughters, Caroline Broeker, at home, Mrs. William Bennett and Mrs. Stephen Galos of Buffalo, Mrs. Alfred Cairl of Sanborn, and Mrs. John Corbett of Niagara Falls; four grandchildren: his mother. NORTH TONAWANDA, Feb. 22. Mrs. Viola Andrees. 41, of Stenzel street, died yesterday after a prolonged illness. She was born in the Town of Wheatfield and had resided in this locality all her life. Alfred H. Broeker, age 81, of Warsaw, formerly of the Tonawandas, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at Crossroads House in Batavia. Born in North Tonawanda, he was the son of the late William and Martha (nee Wittkopf) Broeker, and was an Army Veteran of WWII, serving during the occupation of Japan. A resident of the Warsaw area for more than 50 years, he was a custodian for the Warsaw School District, before retiring. He was the brother of the late Edward, William and Reynold Broeker, Selma Galos, Eleanor Corbit and Elsie Bennett.
He is survived by two sisters, Martha Cairl and Caroline Russell; and a brother, Chester (Virginia) Broeker. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. There is no visitation. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at 10 AM Saturday, March 22nd at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda. Interment will be cared for privately at City Cemetery in Tonawanda.

Ostwald, age 92, of Tonawanda, died on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Schofield Residence, after a long illness. Born in North Tonawanda, he was the son of the late Edward and Elsophine (nee Broeker) Ostwald and was an Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII. A lifelong resident of the Tonawandas, he had been employed at Spaulding Fibre until retiring. Along with his wife, Virginia, he had operated "Ostwald's Candies" in Tonawanda for more than 50 years, and was renowned for the quality of their products. Wilbert was an avid gardener and photographer. He was the husband of the late Virginia (nee Keyes) Ostwald, who died earlier this year. He is survived by his children, Dan (Sharon) Ostwald and Phyllis (William) Schnirel. Also surviving are several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. GLENWOOD L. MAERTEN, age 93 of Wheatfield, NY, entered into rest peacefully on February 5, 2022, while at the Elderwood at Wheatfield facility. Born in North Tonawanda, NY on August 2, 1928; son of the late Leonard and Evelyn (Broker) Maerten. After serving his country as a Marine, he started working as a plumber, and in 1965 he formed his own plumbing contracting company, and worked until his retirement at the age of his mid 70's. Glenwood was a founding member of the Wheatfield Plumbing Board, and served as a plumbing inspector. Glenwood was a charter member of the Wheatfield Lion's Club. He enjoyed eating out, loved spending months during the winter, at his home in Cape Coral, Florida.He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary (nee Rehm) of 67 years; a brother, Kenneth Maerten; and sister, Dorothy Meyers.Survivors include a son, Daniel Maerten; daughter, Cheryl (Thomas) Encao; grandchildren, Corrine Bristol, Trevin Maerten, Daniel Encao, and Anthony (Becky) Encao; great-grandchildren, Leia Bristol, Kendyl Bristol, and Nickolas Encao; and many nieces and nephews.The visitation and services will be announced at a later date. Dorothy (nee Maerten) Meiers, age 90, of Tonawanda, died Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Odd Fellows & Rebekah Nursing Home in Lockport, after a long illness. Born in North Tonawanda, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Evelyn (nee Broeker) Maerten and had been a resident of Tonawanda until 2010. She was the wife of the late Bernard F. Meiers, who died August 31, 1998, and sister of the late Kenneth Maerten.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Barb (Gary) Janik of Wheatfield and Kathryn (Steve Cyrankowski) Kozakowski of Lockport; three grandchildren, Wallace Kozakowski of Tonawanda, April (Mike) Ranalli of Wheatfield, and Karen (Quentin) Myrick of San Diego, California; and her brother, Glenwood (Mary) Maerten of Wheatfield. Also surviving are three great-grandchildren, Carah, Jackson and Kennedy; and several nieces and nephews.
