    SHAWNEE, Dec. 8.-Mrs. Matilda
    R. Behnke, 61 years old, died yesterday
    at her home on t he Shawnee
    road, town of Wheatfield, after a
    week's illness. She was stricken with
    paralysis after returning home on
    Tuesday of last week from a shopping
    trip to the Tonawandas.
    Born In the town of Wheatfield.
    she had lived there all her life. She
    was a member of Ladies' Aid society
    and the Mission club of St. Paul's
    church in the Martinville section of
    North Tonawanda.
    Surviving are a husband, William
    L.; two daughters, Mrs. Henry Zappendorf,
    Mrs. Clarence Dexheimer;
    a son, Alvin; a sister, Mrs- Albert
    Stermer, and five grandchildren, all
    of North Tonawanda. The funeral
    will be held at 2 o'clock Friday at the
    home and half an hour later at St.
    Paul's church, the Rev. F. A. Hinners
    officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's
    cemetery.

    Behnke, 51, of 1334 Belling place,
    died yesterday in the DeGraff
    Memorial hospital. A lifelong resi-
    dent of North Tonawanda, Mrs.
    Zappendorf was a member of the
    St. Paul's Lutheran church, in the
    Niagara Falls boulevard, and the
    Ladies Aid society of the church.
    She leaves her husband. Henry:

    Heppler and Miss Myra Zappendorf,
    of North Tonawanda: a son,
    Private First Class Elton Zappendorf.
    of the U.S. Army, stationed In

    Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at
    the residence and at 2:30 o'clock

    Hospital, where he died at about 12:10
    a.m.today.
    The North Tonawanda Fire Department
    is investigating the blaze.
    Mr. Zappendorf had been living with
    the Hepplers since a 1971 automobile
    accident which left him permanently
    disabled. He was a former employe of
    the old Bell Aircraft Corp., and was a
    member of St. Paul's Lutheran
    Church.
    He was the husband of the late Mabel
    Hibbert Zappendorf. He is survived by
    two sisters, Mrs. Heppler and Mrs.
    James (Myra) Soos of North
    Tonawanda, one niece and one nephew.
    The Brunner Funeral Home, 156
    Robinson St., North Tonawanda, is in
    charge of arrangements.
