William F. Goerss, 78 years old, died early this morning at his home, Shawnee road, town of Wheatfield, after a prolonged illness. Born in the town of Wheatfield, he had resided there all his life with the exception of 15 years, which he spent in the town of Pendleton. He resided on the farm in Pendleton now occupied by Acacia cemetery. He was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran church on the Niagara Falls boulevard. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Gustav Reichert, Wheatfield, and Mrs. Edwin J. Wendt, North Tonawanda; seven sons, Arthur A. Wheatfield; Rev. Richard W., Nagercoil, India, Ezra C., Wilmer C., and Gerhard, North Tonawanda, Rev. Daniel F., Pitcairn, Pa., and Wallemar (sic) A., Cleveland; 27 grandchildren and a sister. Mrs. William Ferchen, Bergholz. Services will be held Thursady afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence and at 2:30 o'clock from St. Paul's church, Rev. F. A. Hinners officiating. Burial will be in Elmlawn.

Arthur Goerss Is Found Dead, Tonawanda News Oct 18, 1937
North Tonawanda, Oct 18 - Arthur A Goerss, 52 years old, was found dead in his home on the Shawnee road, town of Wheatfield, Saturday night, the victim of a heart attack. He was found by his sister, Mrs Gustav H Reichert, who resides on the same road, a short distance from her brother's residence. Not having seen Goerss about during the day and seeing no light in the house after dark Saturday night, Mrs Reichert went to her brother's home and found him dead. Coroner J E Helwig gave the cause of death as heart disease. Goerss had lived in the town of Wheatfield all his life with the exception of four years in the town of Pendleton. Goerss was single and lived alone. He leaves 2 sisters, Mrs Reichert and Mrs Edwin J Wendt, of Niagara Falls, and six brothers, the Rev Richard W Goerss of Nagercoil, India; Ezra C, Wilmer C and Gerhard V Goerss of North Tonawanda; the Rev Daniel F Goerss of Pitcairn, Pa, and Waldamer, of Mentor, Oh. Rites will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 in the late residence and at 3 o'clock from St Paul's church in Martinsville. The Rev F A Hinners will conduct the service and interment will be in the Elmlawn cemetery, town of Tonawanda.

Gerhard V. Goerss, 68, of 1270 Pierce ave., North Tonawanda, died unexpectedly Tuesday (Jan. 19, 1971). Born in Bergholz, Mr. Goerss had resided in North Tonawanda for the greater part of his life and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Layman's League and Rescue Fire Co., No. 5 of North Tonawanda. In 1925 he established the G.V. Goerss Dairy.
Surviving are his wife Leona W. (nee Fritz) Goerss; two sons, James M. and Don D. Goerss; three grandchildren, all of North Tonawanda and a brother, Waldemere(sic) Goerss, of Clearwater, Fla.
The family will be present Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Sts., Tonawanda. Services Friday at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Old Falls Blvd. The Rev. Enno A. Schmoock will officiate. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Park. Eugene B. Goerss, 88, of Getzville, formerly North Tonawanda Saturday (March 14, 2020) surrounded by family under the care of Hospice Buffalo. Mr. Goerss was born in North Tonawanda on September 14, 1931. Eugene was a Computer Programmer at General Motors, retiring after 39 years, former 5th Ward Alderman for North Tonawanda from 1980-1985, member of Zion United Church of Christ, and former choir member, an avid Bills fan and 53 year season ticket holder.
Mr. Goerss is survived by his wife of 67 years Margaret (Storey) Goerss, father of Judy (Barry) Bermudez, Bruce (Kathy) Goerss, brother of the late Kenneth, Merritt, and Dennis Goerss, and Marie Burtch, grandfather of Angela, Diana, Tony, Christopher, and Rachael, great grandfather of Rowan and Isaac.

NORTH TONAWANDA — Marie Goerss Burtch, age 90, of North Tonawanda, passed to see her Jesus while at Crestwood Health Care Facility on January 10, 2013. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Fred Burtch; one daughter, Kathleen (William) Starkweather of Endwell, NY: two grandchildren, Lynn (James) Potenziano of Binghamton, NY; Matthew (Jennifer) Ciesielski, of DeWitt, IA; six great-grandchildren, Kendra and Taylor Potenziano, Faith, Noah, Sara and Matthew Jr. Ciesielski; one brother, Gene (Margaret) Goerss of North Tonawanda; predeceased by brothers, Kenneth, Merritt and Dennis Goerss. She is also survived by two step-sons, John (Bettie) Burtch and Tom (Nancy) Burtch; step-grandchildren, Steven and Michael Burtch.

Marie worked in the attendance and guidance office at Sweet Home High School for 12 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the DeGraff Hospital Auxiliary and the North Tonawanda Senior Citizens.

There will be no prior visitation but friends and family are invited to a memorial service to be announced at a later date. Private burial will be at White Chapel Memorial Park. Winifred W. Walton , 96 of Youngstown, NY, called home to God on May 27, 2019, was born in Niagara Falls, the eldest daughter of Edwin J. and Mabel (Goerss) Wendt on July 10, 1922. She attended local schools and graduated from LaSalle Senior High School in 1940. She was awarded a scholarship to Syracuse University where she earned a degree in Interior Design. She married Sidney G. Walton, her high school sweetheart in 1944, and they raised their family in Niagara Falls, Lewiston, Orchard Park and Youngstown. As her children grew, she studied at Buffalo State Teachers College, earning a degree in Art Education and subsequently taught art at Lewiston-Porter Central School District for eighteen years.
She volunteered her keyboard skills as a substitute organist at several Lutheran Churches where she has membership over the years. She was also active in local garden clubs, an extension of her love of color and design.  She undertook the learning of loom weaving and was for many years a member of weaving clubs locally and in Queenston, Ontario. Predeceased in 2014 by her beloved husband after 70 years of marriage, she remains the dearly loved mother of Judith (James) Condino, Robbie (Larry) Krizan, Bradley (Debbie) Walton, Tim (Kelly) Walton and Sidney Jr. “Skip” (Gayle) Walton. She leaves behind 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her sisters Merilyn Jove and Virginia McKenzie. She was 96. NO PRIOR VISITATION. WILMETTE, IL — Merilyn Jove (nee Wendt) passed away in her sleep at Presbyterian Homes on January 3, 2013, at the age of 85. Born and raised in Niagara Falls, NY, "Marlie" graduated from Northwestern University in 1949. A resident of Wilmette, IL for over 50 years, she was an active member of the Wilmette Women's Club and Wilmette Lutheran Church. She was an avid bridge player and passed on a love of reading and history to her children.

Beloved wife of the late Robert Jove; loving mother of Thomas Jove, Virginia (Tom) Neuckranz, Margaret, M.D. (James) Provenza, Daniel (Kazuyo, and the late Masumi) Jove, and the late Andrew Jove; proud grandmother of Kristin (Tim) Alacala, Laura Neuckranz and the late Erika Neuckranz; Hannah and Christian Provenza; Melissa, Woodward, Forrest and Mizuki Jove; dear sister of Winifred (Sid) Walton and Virginia (the late Donald) McKenzie.

On Thursday, January 8, 2015, Virginia Goerss Wendt McKenzie entered peacefully into her eternal rest with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ after a long battle with diabetes. Virginia was born January 25, 1929, the youngest of three daughters of the late Edwin and Mabel Wendt in Niagara Falls, New York.
Virginia attended Cayuga Drive Elementary School and LaSalle High School where she achieved high honors. After leaving high school, Virginia pursued higher education as a music (Organ) major at Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio where she met her husband to be, Angus Donald McKenzie (who was attending college at Case University in Cleveland) at a blind date dance. They married on June 23, 1951 and over the next 10 years adopted three children through the Lutheran Service Society. They moved from their home on Cayuga Island to Youngstown, NY in 1971. Virginia was predeceased by her husband on October 22, 2011, shortly after celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.
Virginia was an accomplished organist and used her talent to the Glory of God at Grace Lutheran Church in Niagara Falls. For a short time she worked in the accounting department at Wendt’s, her father’s dairy. Besides being a loving homemaker and mother to her children, Virginia donated considerable amounts of time to organizations in Niagara Falls such as the Niagara Falls Little Theater, The Niagara Falls Service League, President of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, and the Tatler Club of Niagara Falls.
Virginia is survived by her three children, Mary (Brian) Dumont and Craig (Diane) McKenzie, both of Midlothian, VA, Rob (Carolyn) McKenzie of Ransomville, NY. Five grandchildren - Amber, Nathan (Angela), Mallory, Kyle and Kayleigh. Two great-grandchildren - Victoria Lynn and Rob Roy. She is also survived by her sister Win (late Sidney) Walton, her sister-in-law Judy (late Bob) Watterson and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her sister Marlie (late Bob) Jove.
Funeral arrangements are being made through the Lane Funeral Home (which will be announced at a later date). Internment will be at the Oakland Rural Cemetery in Youngstown, NY. Rob R. McKenzie, 66, of Ransomville, NY, went home to be with his Savior on Monday, January 17, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Rob was the first son of the late A. Donald and Virginia (Wendt) McKenzie; and the beloved husband to Carolyn (Kreps) McKenzie who he married on July 6, 1974.
Rob lived in Niagara Falls for the majority of his life and attended local schools. He proudly served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge in 1978. Rob was employed at Tam Ceramics Inc. for 22 years as the Occupational and Safety Health Supervisor, and also spent 6 years working at Air Sep Corp prior to his retirement.
Rob was a faithful member of The Bridge Assembly of God, where he had served as a board member and as a Sunday school teacher for many years. One of his greatest joys was sharing his faith and love of Christ with other believers and non-believers a like.
In addition to his loving wife, Carolyn, Rob is survived by his children, Amber McKenzie and Nathan (Angela) McKenzie; and two beautiful grandchildren, Victoria and Rob Roy, that were the apples of his eyes. He is also survived by his siblings, Mary (Brian) Dumont and Craig (Diane) McKenzie, and a host of in laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 21 from 11 – 1 P.M. at The Bridge Assembly of God, 9750 Niagara Falls Blvd. Niagara Falls, NY 14304, where funeral services will begin at 1:00 P.M with Military honors to conclude. Amber McKenzie, 44, of Ransomville, NY, went home to be with her Savior and reunite with her father, on Wednesday, January 19. The daughter of Carolyn (Kreps) McKenzie and the late Rob R. McKenzie was born in Wiesbaden, Hesse, Germany where Rob was stationed while serving in the United States Army.
Amber graduated from Niagara Falls High School, Niagara County Community College and received her Nursing degree from Crouse Nursing School in Syracuse, NY. She was dedicated to her profession as a homecare scheduling supervisor for 18 years at Niagara Hospice, and currently at Venture Forthe for the past three years.
Amber lived for her family, especially her father, who was her best friend. Together they enjoyed playing the game, Who Wants to be a Millionaire? She was also devoted to her Christian faith and was a member of The Bridge First Assembly of God Church for over 30 years.
In addition to her beloved mother, Carolyn, Amber is survived by her loving brother, Nathan (Angela) McKenzie; her cherished niece and nephew, Victoria and Rob Roy; as well as her treasured aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends.
