84, of 3913 Wilson-Cambria
Road, died today (March 23,
1964) at his home after an
illness of six weeks.
Mr. Schultz had lived and
farmed in the Town of Wilson
for 60 years. He was born
Nov. 12, 1879 in Germany, the
son of August and Sophie
Schultz. He came to this town
with his parents when he was
six months old. He was married
to Selma Winters in 1903.
He was a member of St.
Peter's L u t h e r a n Church,
North Ridge.
Surviving are three daughters,
Mrs. Leslie Lounsbury,
Niagara Falls, Mrs. Herbert
Hurtgam, Ransomville, Mrs.
Roy Eckert, this community;

WILSON - Leonard William Schultz of 3723 Cambria-Wilson Road died Wednesday (Sept. 8, 1982) at Mount View Health Facility, Lockport, after a brief illness. He was 74. Born in the Town of Wilson, the son of the late Frederick W. and Selma (Winters) Schultz married Jenny Van Hanehen, who survives, on Jan. 31, 1936. Schultz was a farmer at his home most of his life and a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, North Ridge, the Wilson Conservation Club, and was an exempt member of the South Wilson Fire Co. He also is survived by sons Chester of Lockport, Eugene of Yonkers and Nelson of North Tonawanda; daughters Carol Hanes of Clyde, Tex., Judith Whitehead of Lockport, Sharon Jagow of Greensboro, N.C., and Brenda Schultz of Wilson; brothers Wallace of Ransomville, Willard of Wilson and Carlton of Newfane; sisters Evelyn Lounsbury of Niagara Falls, Mildred Hurtgam of Ransomville and Eleanor Eckert of Wilson; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Wallace F. Schultz, 86, who had worked for Carborundum Co.'s Bonded Abrasive Division in Wheatfield for 37 years, died Monday (Nov. 23, 1998) in Northgate Manor Health Care Facility, Wheatfield, after a lengthy illness.
Schultz retired from Carborundum in 1974 as a laborer. He also operated a vegetable farm at his home for many years, taking produce to the Buffalo wholesale market.
He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church at North Ridge, Cambria, and the Newfane Golden Agers.
His wife, Edna Zahno Schultz, died in 1997.
Survivors include two sons, Gary and Marvin; two sisters, Eleanor Eckert of Burt and Mildred Hurtgam; two brothers, Willard of Wilson and Carlton of Newfane; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 4169 Church Road, Cambria. Burial will be in North Ridge Cemetery,

Mildred M. Hurtgam Co-Owner/Operator of Hurtgam Farms
Mildred M. Hurtgam, age 88 formerly of Ridge Rd., Town of Cambria, NY, was called to her eternal home on Sunday, November 17, 2002 in the Mt. St. Mary's Long Term Health Care Facility in Niagara Falls, NY. Mrs. Hurtgam was born July 21, 1914 in the Town of Wilson, NY, the daughter of the late Fred and Selma (Winters) Schultz. She was married to Herbert R. Hurtgam on March 7, 1935. Together they owned and operated Hurtgam Farms in the Town of Cambria for many years, taking their eggs and produce to the North Tonawanda and Niagara Falls City Markets. Mr. Hurtgam passed away on September 9, 1991. Mrs. Hurtgam was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church at North Ridge and very active in its' Ladies Aid Society for which she had served as Secretary and Treasurer. She was a member of the Newfane Golden Agers and the Sanborn Friendship Club. She enjoyed sending and receiving greeting cards. She is survived by two sons, Jerry (Brenda) Hurtgam of Ransomville, and Charles (Maggie) Hurtgam of Greene, NY; a sister, Eleanor Eckert and a brother, Carlton (Eleanor) Schultz both of Newfane; her grandchildren, Jeff (Harmony) Hurtgam, Jay (Cassandra) Hurtgam, Jodie Hurtgam, Robert (Nicole) Lewis, and Richard (Penny) Lewis; her great grandchildren, Melissa, Randy, Chris, and Jordan Lewis; her sisters-in-law, Jenny, Alvera, Martha, and Donna Schultz. Willard L. Schultz, 86, a longtime vegetable farmer, died Saturday (June 22, 2002) in Newfane Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, where he had been a patient since February 2000.
Schultz was born in Wilson, attended local schools and lived here all his life.
He farmed 58 acres on Irish Road and sold his vegetables at the Clinton-Bailey Farmers' Market in Buffalo. He was a former vice president of the Clinton-Bailey Farmers Market Association and served on its board for 12 years.
Schultz served on the board of elders of St. Peter's Lutheran Church at North Ridge, Cambria, where he was a lifelong member. He was a former member of the church's cemetery board.
Schultz was also an exempt member of South Wilson Fire Company.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, the former Martha L. Brandt; a son, Randy of Wilson; a brother, Carlton of Newfane; two sisters, Mildred Hurtgam of Niagara Falls and Eleanor Eckert of Burt; and one granddaughter.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church at North Ridge, 4169 Church Road, Cambria. Burial will be in North Ridge Cemetery, Cambria.

Obituary of Arlene Seefeldt

Arlene B. Seefeldt, age 81, of Ransomville, died unexpectedly at her home on Monday October 31, 2016.


Arlene was born August 13, 1935 in the Town of Wilson, the daughter of the late Paul and Irene (Schultz) Bohnstadt. She was a graduate of Wilson High School and on May 1, 1954 she married Neil L. Seefeldt. Together they worked their family farm and took their produce to the Niagara Falls Market and the Clinton & Bailey Market in Buffalo. At the same time Arlene worked for 11 years as a secretary at the Wilson High School. In 1964 she began her pursuit of a career as a teacher, attending Buffalo State Teachers College. Arlene received her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Education and English in 1967 at which time she began teaching English at Lewiston-Porter Schools, at both the Junior and Senior High. She retired in 1989 after 22 years of service.


Arlene was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran at North Ridge. She sang in the choir, was the organist for many years, and had served as principal of the school for two years as well as on its' Board of Education. Arlene had also served as the organist for North Ridge United Methodist Church and had served on the Town of Wilson Board of Assessment Review. Arlene was a member of the NY State Retired Teachers Association.




Her husband, Neil, predeceased her in 1987. She is survived by several cousins, godchildren, and her church family.


A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, November 15, at 11:00 am in St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church at North Ridge, 4169 Church Rd. Town of Cambria, with the Rev. Robert Hoffman officiating. There will be no prior visitation. Arlene was laid to rest with her husband at North Ridge Cemetery with a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church at North Ridge, 4169 Church Rd., Lockport, NY 14094 or to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094. Norman L. Lounsbury, age 69, of Niagara Falls, NY, was called home to heaven on Friday, April 30, 2010 at Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, NY. Born on December 1, 1940 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Leslie and Evelyn (Schultz) Lounsbury. Mr. Lounsbury was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls and offended local schools. Mr. Lounsbury worked as a Laborer for General Abrasives in Niagara Falls, NY. He retired after 30 years of service. Affectionately known as "Stormon Norman", he enjoyed wrestling, bingo and was an avid Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres Fan. Mr. Lounsbury is survived by his sister, Charlene M. Wagner; three nieces, Kathryn M. (Michael) Pooley, Joyce A. (Kirk) Williams and Norene R. (Thomas) Douglas. He is also survived by many great nieces and nephews as well as many extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, Norman was predeceased by sisters, Norene M. Lounsbury and Joyce Ann Lounsbury; and wives, Margaret (Leposky) Lounsbury and June (Pollow) Lounsbury. Dorothy L. Caraglin, 92, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2022. Born in Lockport, NY, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Jenny Bisher.
Dorothy was educated in the Barker Central Schools. On April 29, 1950 she married her beloved husband, Frank J. Caraglin in the Town of Royalton. Mr. Caraglin predeceased her on September 23, 2001.
Dorothy was a longtime member of the American Legion Cadille Post 1664 and the LaSalle-Griffon VFW Post 917. She enjoyed needle work, crocheting, playing cards, reading, as well as listening to music. Above all, Dorothy especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Noreen (Norman) Maillet, Frank (Bambi) Caraglin, Jr., John Caraglin, Mark (Tammy) Caraglin, Loura (Floyd) Maines, Mary (Pat) Corsaro, Debbie (Vince) Ferlito and Jean (late Skip) Hachee; 23 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; her sister, Bonnie (late Vince); as well as many nieces and nephews.

SANBORN - Funeral services will be conducted Sunday for Mrs. Linda S. Haseley, 31, of 3149 Lockport Road, who died Wednesday (Aug. 17, 1977), in Mount St. Mary's Hospital as the result of injuries suffered in an automobile accident on Aug. 14.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore, with the Rev. Paul F, Wittenberg officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.
She was a native of Wilson, where she graduated from Wilson Central High School She attended the Humbolt Institute in St. Paul, MN, and was a travel agent for the Automobile Club of Western New York.
She is survived by her husband, Howard N, Haseley; a son, Jamie; a daughter, Jill; her mother, Mrs. Alvira Schultz of Wilson; three brothers, Dwayne Schultz of Cambria, David Schultz of Wilson and John Schultz of Lockport; two sisters, Mrs. Martin (Shirley) Kroening of Cambria, Mrs. Philip (Diane) Verel of Wilson.

Services for John R. Schultz, a captain in the Niagara County Sheriff's Department, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 4169 Church St., North Ridge, Cambria. Burial will be in North Ridge Cemetery, Cambria.
Schultz, 42, died Sunday (Oct. 27, 1991) at his home on Sunset Drive after a long illness.
A native of Wilson, he moved to the Town of Lockport 21 years ago.
Schultz was a graduate of Wilson Central High School and Niagara County Community College, where he received an associate's degree in liberal arts in 1969. He joined the Niagara County Sheriff's Department in November 1970 and was a member of the U.S. Army Reserve.
He was a member of the Niagara County Sheriff's Association, the National Rifle Association, the Buffalo Zoological Society and the National Wildlife Federation and was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Cambria.
Survivors include his wife, the former Jenny Dent; two daughters, Laura Lynne Newton of Niagara Falls and Jonni V.; his mother, Alvera Rusch Schultz of Wilson; two brothers, David and Duane, both of Wilson, and two sisters, Shirley Kroening of Cambria and Diane.

LEWISTON — Gary W. Schultz, age 71, formerly of Porter Center Rd. in Lewiston, died on Saturday, September 1, 2012 in the Treasure Coast Hospice in Ft. Pierce, FL, after a lengthy illness. Gary was born on April 10. 1941 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Wallace F. and Edna G. (Zahno) Schultz and was a 1959 graduate of Lewiston Porter High School.

He married Gladys Jeanette (Hlavenka) Schultz on June 1, 1963 and they lived in the Town of Porter until moving to Port St. Lucie, FL, 11 years ago. Gary was a Sales Service Manager, employed by Stone Container Co. in Wheatfield, for 45 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of St. Peter's RC Church in Lewiston and of St. Bernadette RC Church in Port St. Lucie. Gary was also a former member and an Exempt Member of the Lewiston Volunteer Fire Co. # 1. He enjoyed farming.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys Jeanette Schultz of Port St. Lucie, FL; his children, Lora (Joe) Kolmer of Kenmore, WA and Michael Schultz of Niagara Falls, NY; his grandchildren, Nathan and Evan Schultz, Shea and Naomi Kolmer; a brother, Marvin Schultz of Ransomville; his mother-in-law, Germaine Hlavenka of Niagara Falls, NY; a brother-in-law, Joseph Hlavenka of Los Angeles, CA; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Lynn Marie Schultz and a brother, Gordon Schultz.

Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 7th at 10:00 AM in St. Peter's RC Church, 600 Center St., Lewiston, with the Rev. Michael Zuffoletto officiating. Jerry H. Hurtgam, age 70, of Ransomville, fell asleep in Jesus on Monday, November 26, 2012, at his home after a lengthy illness. Jerry was born on December 9, 1941 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Herbert R. and Mildred (Schultz) Hurtgam.
He was a 1959 graduate of Wilson Central High School. Jerry was past owner and operator of J Hurtgam Farms and sold produce at Niagara Falls and North Tonawanda farmers markets. He served in various roles on the Farm Bureau, Niagara County Cooperative Extension, and the Lake Plains Vegetable Growers. Jerry was a lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran Church at North Ridge, where he served as usher and member of the finance committee. Faith, family, friends, farming, and Bluegrass music fulfilled his life.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Brenda (Schendel) Hurtgam; two sons, Jeff (Harmony) Hurtgam and Jay (Cassandra) Hurtgam, both of Ransomville; a daughter, Jodie Hess of Hilton, NY; four grandchildren, Emma, Abigail, Allison and Nathan Hurtgam; and a brother, Charles (Maggie) Hurtgam of Greene, NY.
Friends may call at St. Peter Lutheran Church at North Ridge, 4169 Church Rd., Town of Cambria on Saturday, December 1st from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Jeffrey served in the Navy from 1973 to 1976. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed motorcycles including riding his own.
