Henry D Taylor. 89. who
Hved on James Street, a
native and lifelong resident
of Constableville
died very unexpectedly at
his home on Wednesday
afternoon, July 21. 1993.
Mr. Taylor was born on
December 18. 1903, a son
of Fellus Eli and Anna
Newhart Taylor. He attended
high school in
ConstablevUle. For several
years, he and his late
brother. Charles, operated
a trucking business in the
Constableville area. In
addition to hauling cattle
feed to area farms, they
operated a milk route.
After World War II. Mr.
Taylor was employed as
the highway superintend
dent for the Town of West
Turin.. He later became
the foreman for the State
Highway Department in
Southern Lewis County,
and was responsible for
the maintenance of state
highways .between West
Leyden arid Lyons Falls.,
He retired in 1968;
H e married Helen
Schwenk on September
17. 1927. at SL Pauls'
Episcopal Church,. Constableville.
Mr, Taylor had
a lifelong Interest In base-,
ball, and for many years
he played, on the
"Constablevllle Bears", a
baseball town team. In
the 1940s and early.
1950s, he.managed the
town team. Thls past
spring, the Constablevllle
Little League Field was
dedicated to him, and Mr.
Taylor was privileged to
pitch the first ball In the
new ballpark. Mr, Taylor
had also been an active
bowler and was one of the
founders of the Constableville
Bowling Alley in
1938. a member of St.
Paul's Episcopal Church,
he was a lifelong vestryman
of the church. He was
a membeir of Consta-
bleville Fire Company and
had served as clerk of the
Village of Constableville.
Mr. Taylor was also a
member of Turin Masonic
Lodge. An avid outdoors-
man. he was a member of
Constablevtille Fish &
Game Club and had
served as secretary of the
club.
Besides his wife, survivors
Include a daughter.
Joan Taylor of Liverpool:
two sons and a daughter -
In-law. David H. and
Elaine Taylor of Port
Leyden. and Dan E. Taylor
of Floyd; three grandchildren.
Jan, Britlney. and
Ashley and several nieces
and nephews. He was predeceased
by a sister.
Blanche, and two brothers,
Harold and Charles.
Services were held on
Saturday. July 24. 1993. at
11 a.m. at the Tralnor
Funeral Home. Boonville,
with The Reverend
Richard Lewis, rector of
Headwaters Episcopal
Missions, officiating.
Interment was made In
Rural Cemetery. Calling
hours were on Friday from
2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Constableville Fire
Department Ambulance.
