Sarah C. Mehls
LOCKPORT - Sarah C. Mehls, 87, of Lockport Junction Road died Friday (Jan. 8, 1982) at Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston. Born in Sanborn, she attended local schools and was a lifelong resident of Western New York. She was the widow of John R. Mehls. She is survived by a son, Paul F.; a brother, Philippineslip Wendt of Bergholtz; and four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Paul's Calgary (sic) Lutheran Church, 18th and Cleveland streets,
with the Rev. Douglas R. Behm officiating. Burial will be at St. Paul's Calgary Lutheran Cemetery, Bergholtz. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, and noon to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Grimes Funeral Home Inc., 7311 Porter Road, Town of Niagara. Memorials to St. Paul's Calgary (sic) Lutheran Church are acceptable as tribute.

WHEATFIELD - Paul F. Mehls, a former railroad car inspector, died Friday at home after a brief illness. He was 87.
A Niagara Falls native, he graduated from Trott Vocational High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He worked 43 years for Consolidated Rail Corp. and its predecessor railroads, retiring in 1978.
Mr. Mehls was an active member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Niagara Falls. He was a former council president, sang in the choir, taught adult Sunday school and was Sunday school superintendent.
He also belonged to a retired men's singing group, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and collected railroad memorabilia.
His first wife, the former Grace Boulden, died in 1988.
He is survived by his second wife of 10 years, the former Polly A. Fisher; two sons, Richard of Gasport and David of Franklintown, Pa.; two daughters, Karen Jackson of York Springs, Pa., and Linda Kurzik of York, Pa.; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 A.M. Tuesday in St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 18th Street and Cleveland Avenue, Niagara Falls. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.

Richard John Mehls passed away May 26, 2024 in Buffalo General Hospital. He was born on April 26, 1952 in Niagara Falls, NY a son of Paul and Grace (Bolduan) Mehls. Richard was a machinist for Strippit in Akron, NY. He was a member of Solid Rock Assembly of God Church, Allegany Mountain Resort, AARP, YMCA and was on a bowling and horseshoe league. Richard enjoyed bird watching and vacationing with friends at Allegany Mountain Resort. He was a prolific gardener and was famous for his zucchini and banana breads and carrot cake.
Richard was predeceased by his wives Bernice (Evans) and Victoria (Wroblewski) Mehls ; brother David Mehls. He is survived by his step children Tami (AJ) Joslyn, Lukan (Hazard) Busch, Thomas Busch; step grandchildren Claire and Cedric Busch, Seneca, Annora, Allene, Tessa Joslyn; sisters Karen (Richard) Jackson, Linda (George) Kurzik and sister in-law Bonnie Mehls; nieces and nephews Sara Dunkel, David Jackson, Jason Kurzik, Lauren Kurzik, Brian Kurzik, Emily Kurzik, Linnnea (Ryan) Moore and Kelton (Brittany) Mehls; grand nieces and nephews Wyatt Dunkel, Hazel Jackson, Vance Jackson, Scarlett Jackson, Evelyn Gray, Sadie Mae, Aria Mehls and Rylin Moore.
Relatives and friends may call Friday May 31, 2024 from 11-12PM in Solid Rock Assembly of God Church 8590 Rochester Rd. Gasport, NY where a funeral service will immediately follow at 12 noon with Pastor David Hayes officiating. Interment in Cold Spring Cemetery.
