Harold was a past President of the Wrights Corner Fire Department. He was an avid boater, loved his motor home, and a proud member of the Happy Wanders in Middleport, NY. He was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lockport, NY. Harold served our country and was a member of the American Legion Post #410 in Lockport, NY.
He is also survived by his sister, Helen Bye; his sister-in-law, Phyllis Urtel; proud randpa to four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The family will be present to receive friends on Sunday at the Bates Wallace and Heath Funeral Home, 38 State Street, Middleport, NY 14105 from 4-8 PM. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home, followed by burial at Cold Springs Cemetery with Military Honors. LEWISTON — Russell E. Urtel, age 89, of the Town of Cambria, entered into rest on Saturday, November 19, 2011, at Mount St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston. Born May 21, 1922 in Wilson, Russ was the son of the late Edward L. and Mabel I. (Rohring) Urtel.

He married Dorothy (Flagler) Urtel June 20, 1942, at Exley United Methodist Church of Wilson. Dorothy died December 1, 1993. A WWII Veteran, Russ served from 1943 until 1945. He was in the European Theatre of operation in the 113th Mechanized Cavalry and as a truck driver on the Red Ball Express for the 3888 Quartermaster Truck Company. While in the service he traveled to 11 different countries. He had worked at General Motors Chevrolet Plant in Tonawanda as a Quality Analyst and Inspection Supervisor, retiring in 1987 after 47 years. Russ enjoyed spending time with his family and working on his farm. Russ was a member of the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of North Ridge, past member of the Wilson VFW and past member of the American Legion. He also was a member of the Chevrolet Retiree Club. Russ enjoyed going to the Newfane Golden Agers and deer hunting. He had lived in Cambria the past 67 years; previously of Wilson.

Russ is survived by his children, William R. (Shirley) Urtel of Lockport, Rosemary (Michael) Bohlman of Ripley, Thomas E. Urtel of Florida, Barbara (Lance) Cronshaw of Newfane, Sharon (Sean) Healy of Wilson and the late Robert J. Urtel. Brother of Harold “Dolly” Urtel of Middleport, Helen Bye of Newfane, Elton “Bob” (Phyllis) Urtel of North Tonawanda, Hazel (Robert) Walker of Olcott and the late Delilah Grzybowski and Lawrence Urtel. Eleven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and dear friend, Beatrice Zastrow survive him. A grandchild, Amy Raynor, predeceased Russell.

RANSOMVILLE — Delilah (Urtel) Grzybowski, age 85, of Ransomville, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, October 17, 2010 in the Eastern Niagara Hospital in Newfane, after a brief illness.

Delilah was born June 4, 1925 in Wilson, the eldest daughter of the late Edward and Mabel (Rohring) Urtel. She attended a one room school house on Chestnut Rd. in Wilson where she excelled, especially in spelling, and had won the Buffalo Evening News Spelling Bee. Delilah graduated from Wilson High School in 1942 at age 16, the first in her family to do so. She then attended business school where she earned her comptometer license. Delilah married Max J. Grzybowski on June 24, 1950. Max predeceased her on March 11, 1987. She was employed in the payroll office at Harrison Radiator in the 1950’s until she left to raise her family, and was a Niagara County Election Inspector for 45 years.

Delilah enjoyed sewing, baking, gardening and was heavily involved with local 4H Programs with her daughters in the 60’s and 70’s. She was a member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at North Ridge, St. Peter’s Ladies Aide Society, the Wilson Lakeshore Mother’s Club and the Ransomville Rural Retirees. Delilah loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren whom she loved dearly and was so very proud of. She never missed a play, dance recital, concert or graduation ceremony, and attended as many sports events as time would allow.

She is survived by her four daughters, Mary Jo (Kenneth) Higginbotham of Santa Clarita, CA, Janice (James) Sievert and Maxanne (Bill) Rees, both of Wilson, and Gretchen (Leo) Fournier of Ransomville; her grandchildren, Scott and Michelle Higginbotham, Joe and Jackie Sievert, Mercedees, Trey and Quinn Rees, Cooper, Logan and Bailey Fournier; her great-grandchildren, Shaianne Higginbotham, Serena Gelfman and Jaden Higginbotham. She was the beloved sister of Harold Urtel, Russell (Dorothy) Urtel, Helen (William) Bye, Elton "Bob" (Phyllis) Urtel, Hazel (Robert) Walker and the late Lawrence (Ann) Urtel. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

OLCOTT — Hazel U. (Urtel) Walker of Olcott, entered into rest on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Buffalo General Hospital. Born in Ransomville, she was the daughter of Edward L. and Mabel I. (Rohring) Urtel.

Hazel graduated from Wilson High School. She married Robert Walker on April 12, 1952 at St. Peters Lutheran Church. Owner of Flora Hatch, an elegant apparel store which operated in both Lockport and Williamsville for over 50 years, Hazel brought her sense of style and fashion to her many loyal customers. Hazel was a former member of Zonta, DLBA, Habitat for Humanity, Concordia Lutheran Church and Lockport Town and Country Club. Hazel enjoyed spending time golfing, (hole in one at Lockport Country Club), extensive travel, entertaining, gardening, skiing and boating.

Hazel is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert; a son, James Walker; daughters, Jayne (Doug) Lloyd and Jody Siddall; grandsons, Barrett Lloyd and Parker Siddall. Hazel was predeceased by her granddaughter, Paige Siddall; sister to Elton Urtel, Dolly Urtel, Helen Bye and the late Russell Urtel, Delilah Grzybowski and Lawrence Urtel. Hazel is also survived by several nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

Richard W. “Possum” Urtel passed away October 17 (??), 2022 in Buffalo Veterans Hospital.  Born December 15, 1950 in Lockport he was the son of Harold and Bernice (Vicks) Urtel.  Richard served in the US Army from 1970 to 1972 during Vietnam.  He was a machinist working for various manufacturing companies in the Buffalo area.  Richard was an avid fisherman, hunter, drawing, and painting.  Richard also ran the “Possum Lodge Bar & Grill” which was always open to friends.

James "Jimmy" Robert Walker of Olcott, entered into rest on Friday, August 19, 2016. Born February 27, 1956 in Niagara Falls NY, Jim is the son of the late Robert and Hazel (Urtel) Walker.
Jimmy attended the Sunshine School in Lockport and was one of the initial residents of the Developmental Center in West Seneca. Always in the lead, Jim later moved to various group homes where he participated in sheltered workshops, attended camp, and enjoyed being part of the community. Jim was currently attending the day program at Opportunities Unlimited on Niagara Falls Blvd while he resided in Amherst.
Jimmy enjoyed spending time with his family,holidays, flying kites, and music. He touched the lives of many with his humor, generous spirit, and simple life.
Surviving Jimmy is his sister Jayne (Douglas) Lloyd of Lockport and nephews: Barrett Lloyd and Parker Siddall. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his sister Jody Siddall and niece Paige Siddall.

Jody R. (Walker) Siddall, age 52, of Lockport, entered into rest on Monday, January 21, 2013. Born on November 28, 1960 in Newfane, she is the daughter of Robert Walker and the late Hazel (Urtel) Walker.
Jody graduated from Newfane Central Schools in 1978 where she served as class president. She went on to graduate from Tobe-Coburn in NYC with a degree in fashion merchandising and also attended NCCC where she received her degree in Psychology. Jody was a volunteer at Niagara County Jail where she distributed items to the women. She enjoyed skiing, boating and bicycling.
Jody is survived by her son, Parker Siddall. She was predeceased by her daughter, Paige Siddall. Daughter of Robert Walker and the late Hazel Walker. Sister of Jayne (Doug) Lloyd and James Walker; and aunt to Barrett Lloyd. Jody is also survived by aunts, uncles and many cousins.
