NORTH TONAWANDA - May 29 - Mrs. Clara Belling, 76 years old, died yesterday at her home, 342 Niagara Falls Blvd. Born in Port Colbourne, Ont., Mrs. Belling had resided in North Tonawanda since she was two years old. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Emily Lein, Norh Tonawanda; two sons, Henry, Amherst and Gregory, North Tonawanda; nineteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Conrade Leubole, Buffalo and Mrs. John Lehman, Los Angeles, and a brother, Carl Schroeer, Buffalo. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence and half an hour later at St. Martin's church.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Robert W. Walter G. Belling, age 85, of Pendleton, passed away Friday November 6, 2009 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport. Mr. Belling was born March 16, 1924, son of the late Henry and Auguste (nee Ewald) Belling. Mr. Belling attended Tonawanda High School, he served in the United States Army during WWII, he was a PFC with the 511th Airborne Signal Corps, serving from January 23, 1943 until his discharge on February 17, 1946. Mr. Belling was a self employed contractor, he was the Town of Pendleton Building Inspector, he also had worked in the display department for Sears and Roebuck. Mr. Belling was a active life time member of St. Martin Evangelical Lutheran Church, he was chairman of the renovation committee, in 1985 remodeling St. Martin Church, he designed and made the wooden cross for the church's altar. He headed the committee to build the addition to Pendleton's Historical Society where he also taught wood carving classes. He was a member of the Niagara Frontier all Airborne Chapter and it's Honor Guard. Mr. Belling was a expert wood carver, specializing in birds, he had built two homes and most of the furniture in them. AMHERST — Earl L. Belling, age 79, of Amherst, passed away February 7, 2012, following a prolonged illness. Mr. Belling was born June 25, 1932 in Amherst, son of the late Henry and Agusta Belling.

Mr. Belling was a carpenter by trade. He worked for Richardson Boat Company in North Tonawanda. He also had worked for several homebuilders where he did ruff construction for new homes.

Mr. Belling was a lifelong member of St. Martin Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda. He also had enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Beloved husband of Suzanne J. (nee Atwater) Belling of Amherst; father of Connie Sue Gollhardt of FL, Paul Alan Belling of North Tonawanda and Jody Lauren Belling; grandfather of Amanda Ruth, Andrea Mae, Alan Joseph and Aiden Michael; brother of Leonard Belling, Eager (Nancy) Belling and Ellen (Tom) Seeley; predeceased by six other siblings; also survived by nieces and nephews.

The blaze was first reported around 6:20 p.m. Wednesday by a passer-by who noticed flames coming from a three-apartment building at 1338 Belling Place.

Firefighters were able to get Bracken out of the burning structure and resusitative efforts were begun at the scene but he later died at a DeGraff Memorial Hospital.

Bracken was the sole resident in the apartment.

After a joint investigation by the City of North Tonawanda Fire and Police departments, it was determined the fire was accidental in nature and the use of a kitchen stove and/or electrical issue could not be ruled out as the cause.

Damage to the home was estimated at $40,000.

BRACKEN - Reid Died unexpectedly, December 30, 2015 in his home in North Tonawanda, at the age of 60. He is survived by his daughter Christina Bracken, his mother Waldtraut Bracken, and his brother and sister, Rolf and Diane Bracken Reid was a 1973 graduate of North Tonawanda High School and a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Reid made his career as an aircraft mechanic in Florida and his skills as such were evident in all of his endeavors in life. He had an adventurous spirit and was very kindhearted and generous. He will be missed by all who knew him. Visitation Tuesday (January 12, 2016) from 4 to 6 PM at the WATTENGEL Funeral Home, 307 Oliver Street, North Tonawanda, where Services will follow at 6 PM. Douglas S. Mielke, 63 of North Tonawanda, died suddenly on May 6, 2023. He is the son of Gary Mielke (deceased) and Barbara Mielke. Brother to Deborah (Mielke) Leavoy and Dianne (Mielke) Mueller , brother in law to Doug Mueller and wonderful friend to Mark Wilcox. Uncle to Kristene (Mueller) DiMarco, Jaclyn Mueller, Deanna (Mueller) Mendez and Katie Mueller.
Doug had a love for sports, Chicago Blackhawks being his favorite Hockey team and the Yankees was the baseball favorite. He had a passion for Rag doll cats who also had a love for him. One living to be 21 years old. If he isn't working in the yard or enjoying art festivals or spending time with family, you will always find him driving around in his corvette. There is a deep whole in our family but we know we will see him again. We love and miss you Doug
