    BERGHOLZ - William A. Loeschke, a longtime member of the Bergholz Volunteer Fire Company and a retired employee of National Grinding Wheel, died Wednesday in his home after a long illness. He was 77.
    The Bergholz native attended local schools and was a life member of St. James Evangelical Church.
    He served in the U.S. Navy from 1946 to 1948 and was a member of Post No. 1, American Legion.
    Mr. Loeschke worked for National Grinding Wheel in Niagara Falls for 40 years.
    He served in the Bergholz Volunteer Fire Company for 55 years and was an exempt member. He was a lifetime member of the New York State Firemen's Association.
    Mr. Loeschke was active in the Wheatfield Democratic Party for 20 years.
    He and his wife of 54 years, the former Dorothy Thomas, enjoyed spending summers at their cottage in Cape Vincent and winters in Tampa, Fla.
    He also enjoyed fishing, gardening and hunting.
    In addition to his wife, Mr. Loeschke is survived by a son, William E. of Wilson; two daughters, Judy Ann Seebauer of Grand Island and Kathleen Roman of Bergholz; four sisters, Alice Schultz of Wheatfield, Helen Roberts and Ruth Haseley, both of Bergholz, and Norma Scherrer of Niagara Falls; and five grandchildren.
    A memorial service will be held by the Bergholz Fire Company at 7 P.M. Saturday in the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road.
    Services will be held at 2 P.M. Sunday in St. James Evangelical Church, corner of Niagara Road and Rohr Street. Burial will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery

    BERGHOLZ — Martin William Roman, age 23, of Bergholz, entered into rest unexpectedly on Sunday, February 3, 2013. Born in Lewiston, NY on December 18, 1989, he was the son of Kathleen (Loeschke) Roman and the late Michael Roman. Marty was a Niagara Wheatfield High School graduate and the New York Institute of Massage. He was a member of St. James Ev. Lutheran Church in Bergholz. Marty had a love of horticulture, played saxophone, guitar, drums and loved music. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and had a zest for life.

    Survivors include his mother; grandmothers, Hazel Roman and Dorothy Loeschke; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He was predeceased by his father; and two grandfathers, Martin Roman and William Loeschke.

    Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz), in Wheatfield on Thursday from 6-9 PM. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Jeff Milsten on Friday, February 8, at 11:00 AM in St. James Ev. Lutheran Church, across the street from the funeral home. Interment in St. James Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
