    An Ontario Avenue resident, he was employed as an electrician by National Carbon, Steele Electric and Barker Electric.
    A Town of Wheatfield native, he was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and enjoyed bowling and playing cards.
    His wife of 58 years, Esther H. Buerger Toellner, died in 1994.
    Survivors include two daughters, Dana Waselus of the Town of Niagara and Carol Foshee; a brother, Roy of North Tonawanda; two sisters, Ruth Greiser and Leona Doebler, both of North Tonawanda; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
    Services will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 18th Street and Cleveland Avenue. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield

    NORTH TONAWANDA — Leona M. (Toellner) Doebler, age 93, of the Town of Wheatfield, Saturday, June 11, 2011, in the DeGraff Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility, after a brief illness. Leona was a life member of St. John Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aide. She was a life member of the Adams Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She was the wife of the late LaVern Doebler, who died in 1973.

    Dear mother of Faye (David) Schnell of Bedford, TX, Linda (James) Vredenburgh of Tampa, FL and Sally (Roger) Stuermer of St. Augustine, FL; grandmother of three grandsons and seven great-grandchildren; also survived by many nieces and nephews.

    Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home, Inc., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd., in North Tonawanda, Tuesday from 6-9 PM. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM from St. John Lutheran Church. The Rev. Ronald D. Oravec will officiate. Interment in St. John Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church.

    Roy W. Toellner, 79, who had worked as parts manager for the L.B. Smith Co. in Buffalo, died unexpectedly Thursday (Sept. 19, 2002) in his North Tonawanda home. He was 79.
    A Wheatfield native, Toellner was a graduate of North Tonawanda High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
    Toellner was a life member and past commander of the Wheatfield Post, American Legion, and served as post finance officer for 38 years. He was also an AMVETS member.
    He had worked for L.B. Smith for 42 years.
    Toellner was an active lifetime member of St. John Lutheran Church, Wheatfield. He was also a 60-year member of Adams Fire Company, and a member of the Niagara County Fire Police Association and the Firemen's Benevolent Association.
    Survivors include his wife of 46 years, the former Marie Prohaska; three daughters, Mary Zahradnik of Lakeway, TX, and Ellen Brock and Ann Weaver, both of North Tonawanda; a sister, Leona Doebler of North Tonawanda; and four grandchildren.
    Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. John Lutheran Church, Ward Road and Niagara Falls Boulevard. Burial will be in White Chapel Cemetery, Amherst.

He was a survivor of the HMS Rohna which was sunk on Thanksgiving 1943 resulting in the largest loss ever of American life at sea. He was a member of the American Legion Post #1451, the V.F.W. and was a 69-year member of the Adams Fire Co. Walter was active in Wheatfield politics, serving as an Assessor for 8 years and serving on the Town of Wheatfield Planning Board. He had worked a crane operator for Schebell Ready Mix for 20 years and retired from the Niagara County Water Authority. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. He was the husband of the late Ruth E. Toellner who died in 2008. Beloved father of John (Donna) Toellner of Irwin, PA, William (Brenda) Toellner of Harrisburg, PA, James (Bernadine) Toellner of Grand Island and Joanne Walck of Wheatfield; grandfather of Jennifer, Bethany, Jonathan, Daniel, David, Benjamin, Brittany, Kristin, Nicholas and Ryan; great-grandfather of five great-grandchildren.
