Of East Amherst, May 8, 2011, at age 78; beloved husband of 60 years to Lillian (nee Osberg) Fromm; loving father of Kurt of Colden, NY, Kent of Livonia, NY, Craig (Sally Gerber) of Santa Ana, CA, Brian of Glastonbury, CT, Leslie Dianne (Charles Caruso) Fromm of Williamsville, NY, and Mark (Carolyn) Fromm of Westfield, NJ; devoted "Bopa" to Alexandra, Benjamin and Kenneth Ostroff, and Andrew and Alex Fromm; brother of Ruth (late Charles) Buchanan of Russell, KY, Mary Ellen (Philip) Chamot of Lockport, NY, L.G. "Skip" (Nancy) Fromm of St. Pete Beach, FL, and the late Joyce (Alfred Jr.) Runkel, and George (Sharon) Fromm; brother-in-law of John (Beverly) Osberg; also survived by many nieces and nephews; son of the late LaVerne and Hildegarde Fromm. Ken served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a 1960 graduate of the University of Buffalo and began his business career at Motorola and GTE. He retired in 1993 as Vice-President of Human Resources for AG (AT&T & GTE) Communications Systems of Phoenix, AZ. The family will be present on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the (Amherst Chapel) AMIGONE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 5200 Sheridan Drive (corner of Hopkins Rd.).     The Town of Tonawanda recorded its
    third swimming pool death in 16 days
    last night when 2-year-old David M.
    Buchanan, son of Mr and Mrs. Charles
    H. Buchanan, 3000 Eggert Road,
    drowned in the family swimming pool.
    Two brothers, Thomas V., 17. and
    Victor S. Lazzaro Jr., 15, of 19
    Deumant Terrace, were electrocuted
    May 21 while cleaning a pool in their
    backyard.
    Police said the body of the Buchanan
    boy was discovered by his
    father about 7 p.m. floating face down
    in the circular above-ground pool The
    family had just finished eating dinner
    and the boy was left unattended for a
    few minutes.
    Mr. Buchanan pulled the boy from
    the 3-foot deep water and a neighbor.
    Norman H. Scheurich, called police.
    David was taken to Kenmore Mercy
    Hospital where he was pronounced
    dead upon arrival. A certificate of
    death due to accidental drowning has
    been issued. The boy apparently
    climbed to the top of the pool despite
    the presence of other children in the
    yard.
    David is survived by three sisters
    and four brothers ranging in age from
    four months to 13 years. Other
    survivors are his maternal
    grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. LaVerne
    Fromm, Town of Tonawanda. and
    several aunts and uncles
    Funeral arrangements are
    incomplete at this time and are being
    handled by the Dietrich Funeral Home.
