    Frederick Giertz died Thursday at the home on the Johnny Cake road. He is survived by his wife Augusta, two daughters, Mrs. Charles Duchow of Gasport and Mrs. Roy Glena at home, sons, Edward and Frank Giertz of Gasport, three brothers, Henry of Lockport, John and August and a sister, Mrs. Fred Blumreich of Royalton Center ands five grand children. The funeral will be held on Sunday afternoon from the home at 2 o'clock and at 3 o'clock from Trinity Lutheran Church, Wolcottsville with burial in Wolcottsville cemetery. The Rev. Herman Ewald will officiate.

    GASPORT - Edward Giertz, 71, of Fruit Ave,, Medina, a former Gasport resident, died Sunday (June 19, 1966) in Medina Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Mr. Giertz, who was born in Royalton on Nov. 5, 1894, the son of Fred and Augusta Martin Giertz, has been an area farm worker all of his life. He retired nine years ago and had made his home in Medina since the death of his wife, Rose Coulson in 1960. Three daughters and two sons survive. They are Mrs. Mary Cramp of Olcott, Mrs. Florence Moden of Medina. Mrs. Mildred Stover, of Lockport, Roy Giertz of Lockport and Edward Giertz Jr. of Rochester. Also surviving are a brother, Frank Giertz of Lockport, a sister, Mrs. Emma Glena of Middleport, 37 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Friends may. call at t he Bream Funeral Home, Gasport, today from 7 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home Wednesday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Hartland Central Cemetery

    LOCKPORT - Frank H Giertz, 70, of 327 N. Transit St., died of a heart attack at his home Friday (Aug. 22, 1969). He was born Oct. 2, 1898, in the Town of Royalton, the son of Frederick and Augusta (Martin) Giertz. He had been employed at the Harrison Radiator Division, General Motors Corp., for 26 years and retired six years ago because of ill health. Mr. Giertz lived most of his life in Gasport and moved to Lockport 28 years ago. Survivors include his widow, the former Leona Buehring; a son, Elton E. of Lockport; two grandchildren. Spec. 4C. Richard Giertz, currently with the U.S. Army in Vietnam, and Mrs. Duane Godfrey of Lockport ; two great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wallace and Heath Funeral Home Inc., 38 State St., Middleport, and Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Wolcottsville, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m., the Rev.     GASPORT, April 15-Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Giertz Benson, who died of pneumonia Thursday in Olcott, where she had been employed for the past six months, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Bream funeral home, this place.     Florence L. Moden, of Medina, entered into rest on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at the age of 95.
    Born December 19, 1925 in the Town of Hartland, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Rose (Coulson) Giertz. She married the late Walter Moden. Mrs. Moden worked in canning factories in Lyndonville and Middleport and finally worked for Niagara Foods. She was a longtime parishioner of the United Methodist Church in Medina, currently the Grove United Methodist Church. An active community member, Mrs. Moden also served on the Home Bureau and was a lifelong member of the Ridgeway Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo and doing needle point.
    Predeceased by her husband, Walter Moden in 1976; sons, George, Wayne and Jay Moden; and siblings, Alice, Roy, Mary, Mildred and Edward “Dean”, Jr.
    Survivors include six children, Janice (late Stanley) Gillmeister, Karl (Susan) Moden, Sharon (late Larry) Farrow, Beverly Nudd, Paul Moden and Scott (Roxanne) Moden; twenty-six grandchildren; and several great and great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Jan. 27th from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the Grove United Methodist Church, 11004 W. Center St., Medina, with her funeral service immediately following at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Larry Eastlack will officiate and interment will be in Wrights Corners Cemetery, Lockport. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Grove United Methodist Church at the address above. Arrangements are in the care of Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.

    ELTON GIERTZ
    LOCKPORT - Elton E. (Red) Giertz, 48, of 266 Ontario St., died Sunday at his home after suffering an apparent heart attack. The rescue squad of the Lockport Fire Department reponded and the resuscitator was used with no reponse. Willis C. Strickland, of Niagara County Coroner, pronounced the man dead at the scene. Mr. Giertz was a native of Niagara Falls, born July 15, 1923, the son of Frank and Leona Buehring Giertz. He was an inspector at the Harrison. Radiator Division of General Motors Corp. for the past six years. He had formerly been an employe of' the Upson Co. here. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Lockport Horseshoe League, the U&W Local 686 and their Bowling League; and was a WWII Air Force veteran. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; a son, Richard W. Giertz; a daughter, Mrs. Duane Godfrey; his mother, Mrs. Leona Giertz, and three grandchildren all of here.     Obituary of Shirley R. Licata

    Shirley R. Licata, beloved mother and nani, entered into eternal rest July 15, 2019 in Elderwood at Lockport.  Born May 9, 1938 in Royalton she was the daughter of Richard G. and Alice L. (Giertz) Marcks.  Shirley was a beautician for many years and she served on the Board of Elections.  She enjoyed sewing, knitting, making jewelry, and enjoyed traveling to Florida.  Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Vincent Licata on January 30, 1988.
    Shirley is survived by her children Sandra (Jeffrey) Cilibetro, Salvatore ‘Sal’ (April Elizabeth) Licata, and Anthony Licata; grandchildren Christopher Fredrick and Alyssa Licata; sister-in-law of Joseph Lydston and Louis Licata; also several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her two sisters Gladys Hill and Ruth Lydston.
    Relatives and friends may call Thursday, July 18th from 4-7 PM with services following at 7 PM all in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport.  Interment will be in Cold Springs Cemetery on Friday, July 19th at 11 AM.  Memorial donations to the Dale Association would be appreciated by the family.  Visit pruddenandkandt.com.

Bill was born in Somerset, NY on February 26, 1941, the son of the late Albert and Mary Geirtz Kramp. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1963 - 1968. He retired from General Motors after 36 years. Bill was a supervisor for the Niagara County Sheriff Office Work Program where he met many great people along the way. He was a life member and past president of the Newfane Lions Club and a member of the Lockport Elks, Sanborn and Newfane Historical society. Bill volunteered for St. Brendan on the Lake, Olcott Carousal Park and at the Newfane Community Center WNY Food Distribution. He was a court officer, DCO and OCO for the town of Newfane. Bill enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, doing yard work, golfing and watching the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns.     Albert F. Kramp Jr. of Burt, NY, husband of the late Betsy K. Kramp entered into rest Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Kenmore Mercy Hospital. Al was born on July 29, 1939, the son of the late Albert and Mary Geirtz Kramp.


    He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956-1962. He retired from General Motors. Al enjoyed listening to Lockport's WLVL radio station, spending time with his grandchildren and his pet companion Goober. He loved watching auto racing and sports. Dedicated Buffalo Bills, Sabres and Yankees Fan.


    Father of Albert (Sharlene) Kramp, Barbara (Brian) King, David (Renee) Kramp and the late Lori Tucker. Brother of Ruthanne (Paul) Charron and the late Robert and William Kramp. Also survived by 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, several step grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.


    Family and friends may call at the Rutland-Corwin Funeral Home, Inc. 2670 Main St. Newfane, NY on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 from 4-8pm where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at 11am.     Paul E. Moden, 63, of Medina, entered into rest unexpectedly on Monday, November 8, 2021.
    Born August 3, 1958 in Medina, he was a son of the late Walter and Florence (Giertz) Moden. Paul graduated from Medina High School in the class of 1977. Shortly after graduating he joined the U.S. Army. A hard worker, Paul drove semi truck for many years. He worked for Elpay Farms and was known to be able to fix just about anything. Most of all Paul enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing and racing with his grandchildren.
    Predeceased by his parents and brothers, George (Edie) Moden, Wayne Moden and Jay Moden; and brothers in-law, Stanley Gillmeister and Larry Farrow; and former wife, Connie Robison.
    Survivors include his son, Chad (Jessica) Moden; daughter, Jessica Toussaint; step-son, Jamie Kilbury; grandchildren, Tyler Moden and Raelyn Moden; siblings, Janice Gillmeister, Karl (Susan) Moden, Sharon Farrow, Beverly Nudd and Scott (Roxanne) Moden; also several nieces and nephews.
    Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Nov. 18th from 9-11:00 am, with his funeral service immediately following at 11:00 am at the Grove United Methodist Church, 11004 W. Center St., Medina. Interment will be in the Western New York National Cemetery in Pembroke. Arrangements are in the care of Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.
