    NIAGARA FALLS — Eleanor C. Murphy, age 85, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, died on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 in the Autumn Ridge Assisted Living of Clarkson in Holly, MI, after a lengthy illness. Eleanor was born January 21, 1927 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late George and Frances (Theis) Weidert. She was a graduate of Trott Vocational High School and lived in Niagara Falls until moving to Michigan 20 years ago.

    She was the widow of Francis Murphy, who died June 1, 1976. Eleanor is survived by five daughters, Charlene Murphy of Niagara Falls, NY, Linda (Alan) Truesdale of Youngstown, Corinne (Robert) Garrison of Holly, MI, Trisha (Jerry) White of the Town of Niagara, and Janell (Angelo) Farbo of Lewiston; a sister-in-law, Marion Weidert; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, William and George (the late Jane) Weidert.

    Funeral Services and Burial were private in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston. Arrangements were entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts., Lewiston.

    George L. Weidert, 79, of Ransomville, NY, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2007 at his home, with his loving children and family, while under care of Niagara Hospice, after a short illness. He was born in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY on August 15, 1928, the son of George and Frances (Theis) Weidert, where he attended local schools and was a graduate of Trott High School. George was employed as a steel fabricator for Industrial Welding Corporation for over 25 years. He later had worked on the construction of the Somerset Power Plant and then was employed by the Smith Bros. Construction Company for several years, prior to his retirement. George was always helping others, repairing everything imaginable. As a volunteer for Opportunities Unlimited, he built bowling ramps for the handicapped bowlers. He enjoyed hunting, camping and playing cards, especially with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Hope United Methodist Church, Pekin, Niagara County, NY and an Exempt Member of the Sanborn Volunteer Fire Company. George was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, the former Jane E. Smith on May 27, 2006 and a son, John D. Weidert on November 30, 1993. Surviving are two daughters, Mary Jane (Robert) Smith of Ransomville, Susan A. (Dennis) Mielke of Sanborn; a son, George R. (Bonnie) Weidert of Ransomville; grandchildren, Kerri, Jason, R.J., Tracy, Derek, Karen, Sarah and Nicholas; brother, William Weidert of Niagara Falls; sister, Eleanor Murphy of Michigan; also survived by two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family will be present on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, Sanborn, 5893 Hoover Road, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM, followed by services at Hope United Methodist Church, Sanborn, NY at 11 AM, with Rev. Janet Hubbard officiating. The Sanborn Volunteer Fire Company will hold a memorial service Tuesday at 8:00 PM. Interment in Mount View Cemetery, Town of Cambria, NY.     AMHERST —
    Joanne M. (Weidert) Coscia, 59, of Amherst, NY, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2013, at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Amherst, NY. She was the daughter of Marion (Bartlett) Weidert of Niagara Falls, NY and the late William Weidert.
    Joanne attended local schools and graduated in 1972 from LaSalle High School in Niagara Falls, NY. On September 16, 1978, she married Gary J. Coscia in St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Over the years, Joanne has actively assisted with the various operations of the family business. Joanne enjoyed visiting friends in Sarasota, FL and her daughter in Chicago, IL, and lived for her grandchildren, especially the new twins.
    In addition to her mother and her husband of thirty-four years, Joanne is survived by two children, Kelli (Paul) Giannopulos of Chicago, IL and Kevin Coscia of Miami, FL; three grandchildren, Lucas, Gabriella, and Alexa; her sister, Dianne (John) Rosini of Lancaster, NY; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
    Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin on Friday, June 21st at 9:15 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Ave., Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev. Stewart Lindsay officiating. Entombment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. Derek was born in Lewiston, NY on September 18, 1980, the son of Robert E. and Mary Jane (Weidert) Smith. He was predeceased by his grandparents, George and Jane Weidert and Kenneth and Gertrude Smith. He was a graduate of Lewiston Porter High School in 1998, where he played on their hockey team. Derek later attended the University of Buffalo and was a graduate of Buffalo State College with a Business Degree. He was currently employed by Greg Marin Construction. Derek was an avid golfer, who enjoyed hunting with his family in the Southern Tier. He was referred to by his friends as "Hippie" and maintained a close relationship, with his family and extended family. Surviving in addition to his parents, is his best friend, his brother, Robert J. " RJ " Smith; his girlfriend, Jaime Quarantillo; step-grandson of Dorothy Smith; nephew of George (Bonnie) Weidert, Susan (Dennis) Mielke, Richard (Sue) Smith, Bill (Vickie) Smith, Gretchen (Paul) Brown, Kenneth (Mary) Smith. He is also survived by several cousins. The family will be present from on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, SANBORN, 5893 Hoover Road. Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 11 AM, at the Hope United Methodist Church, 2914 Upper Mountain Road, Sanborn, NY.
