Foreman at Lumber Plant Dies
William C. Schoenfedt, 91, formerly of 132 Hagan Ave., died Saturday evening (July 29, 1961) at Kenmore Mercy Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was a foreman in various lumber mills in this city for the greater part of his life. Later, he was employed as a custodian in the city schools system prior to retiring in 1946. Mr. Schoenfeldt was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Electric City Lodge No. 663, IOOF, and of the Golden-Age Club. He was a native of Germany, but had lived in this city 90 years. His wife, the former Mary Westphal, died in June 1951. Surviving are a son, Alfred F. Schoenfeldt, this city; a daughter, Mrs. Thomas Heinback, Tonawanda; eight grand-children and 15 great-grand-children. The funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Tuesday at the Hamp Funeral Home by Rev. Burton L. Baseler. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Park. Odd Fellows will conduct a service at 8 o'clock tonight at the funeral home.

A lifelong resident of North Tonawanda, Mr. Schoenfeldt was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ, Sweeney Hose Company, of which he was a past president and the North Tonawanda Firemen’s Benevolent Association, of which he had been president the past 18 years. SCHOENFELDT – Levant C. Schoenfeldt, 54, of 124 Rumbold Ave., North Tonawanda, died today, Monday Oct. 26, 1953 in the DeGraff Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in North Tonawanda and was a lifelong resident of the city. Mr. Schoenfeldt had been stationed at the Active Hose Company headquarters in North Tonawanda as a driver for 25 years before retiring in 1949. For the past six years he had been employed as a machinist by the Alan Herschell Co. He was a member of the Sweeney Hose Company 7 and the Firemen’s Benevolent Association of North Tonawanda. Mr. Schoenfeldt is survived by his wife, Myrtle, nee Lozo; a son, Albert C.; a daughter, Mrs. Dale Schroeder; three grandchildren; and a brother, Benjamin, all of North Tonawanda. Funeral services for Herbert E. Schoenfeldt, 57, of 102 Rumbold Ave., Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. dealer representative, are scheduled at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Brunner Funeral Home. A lifelong resident of the Twin Cities, Mr. Schoenfeldt died yesterday of a heart ailment at DeGraff Memorial Hospital. The Rev. M. L. Baseler will officiate at the services and burial in White Chapel Cemetery. Mr. Schoenfeldt was an elder and treasurer of St. Peter's American Lutheran Church. Just last Wednesday, the Niagara Mohawk organization promoted Mr. Schoenfeldt to the post of dealer representative serving the Twin Cities and Niagara Falls area. He had been employed by the corporation since Aug. 26, 1930 serving first as a district representative. In December 1940, he entered the Twin Cities office of Niagara Mohawk as a salesman, becoming customer service representative in March 1945. Active in the Lions Club of the Tonawandas, Mr. Schoenfeldt formerly served the club as a director and as secretary-treasurer. He was also member of the Electrical Workers Local 1352-AFL. Mr. Schoenfeldt is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ruth Knoell Schoenfeldt; his son, James, his father William; a brother, Alfred Schoenfeldt, and a sister, Mrs. Viola Heimbeck. all of the Twin Cities. Dorothy J. Wiegand, 94, of North Tonawanda, Niagara County, NY, passed away peacefully December 16, 2008 in Northgate Health Care Facility, after a brief illness. She was born in North Tonawanda, Niagara County, NY on June 24, 1914 to the late Benjamin and Anna (Rathgeber) Schoenfeldt. On June 27, 1936, the former Dorothy J. Schoenfeldt married Joseph H. Wiegand. He died March 10, 1980.For many years Dorothy worked as a sales associate at Jenss Department Store. Mrs. Wiegand was a Charter Member and past President of the Adams Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Niagara County Ladies Auxiliary, the Western New York Ladies Auxiliary and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York. She was also a member of the Wheatfield Garden Club, Wheatfield Republican Club and a Past Noble Grand of Rebekah Lodge #263.Dorothy was a lifelong traveler, taking numerous trips to Germany and Austria as well as Norway and Holland. Her other pastimes included fishing, crocheting, working word puzzles and playing cards, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.She is survived by a son, Robert J. (Mary) Wiegand; a granddaughter, Allison Wiegand; one sister, Mildred Krull, all of North Tonawanda and several nieces and nephews. NORTH TONAWANDA — Albert C. "Shaney" Schoenfeldt, age 87, of North Tonawanda, on Thursday, January 5, 2012, after brief illness at Buffalo General Hospital. Shaney was the oldest living retired firefighter in North Tonawanda. He served 34 years with the North Tonawanda Fire Department. He was a 66-year member of the Sweeney Hose and a 59-year member of the Live Hose. Always active in his community, he was a member of Sikora Post and a former Director of the Third Warder's Club. Shaney was an avid golfer and bowler. Shaney was a WWII U.S. Marine Corps Veteran. Son of the late LeVant and Myrtle (nee Lozo) Schoenfeldt.

Beloved husband of Ruth (nee Williams/Bolduc) of North Tonawanda. Step-father of Alan Bolduc of Florida, Carl (Patricia) Bolduc of South Carolina and the late Mark Bolduc. Father of Carol (the late Ronald) Szymanski, Jane (Ron) Roy, Kyle Schoenfeldt, Keith Schoenfeldt and the late Charlene Phillips.

James H. Schoenfeldt, age 91, of North Tonawanda at the New York State Veterans Home at Batavia, on January 22, 2015 after a long illness. Jim was a member of North Presbyterian Church where he was a former Elder and Trustee. He worked at Van Raalte as a Chemist and later retired from the Hooker Chemical/Occidental Petroleum Corp. where he was a Project Engineer for many years. Jim was a World War II U.S. Army and Army Air Corps Veteran. He served in the European Theater and Patton’s 3rd Army. He was wounded and received the Purple Heart. After the war, he attended Canisius College graduating in 1950 with a B.S. in Chemistry. Son of the late Herbert E. and Ruth Schoenfeldt. Husband of the late Dorothy (nee Nicholson) Schoenfeldt and father of the late David J. Schoenfeldt.

Beloved father of Beth (William) Exton of Perry, NY, Paul (Althea) Schoenfeldt of Richardson, TX and father-in-law of Laurie Schoenfeldt. Proud grandfather of six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Brent Timothy Heimback, Sr., age 81, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, passed away peacefully, Friday, May 22, 2015 at his residence. Brent was born in North Tonawanda, New York. He had been a resident of Port St. Lucie for the past 29 years after moving from Hamburg, New York with his family.

He was the loving son of the late Thomas and Viola Heimback of Tonawanda and the brother of the late Ronald (Shirley) Heimback, the late Bruce Heimback and the late Janice (Warren) Heldwein. He was also predeceased in death by his loving wife, Eleanor Heimback, and his son, Mark Heimback.

He is survived by his daughter, Mary Lynn Heimback Bridges of Columbus, Ohio; three sons, Brent Heimback, Jr. of Boise, Idaho, Douglas (Leslie) Heimback of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Jeffery (Janet) Heimback of Fayetteville, Georgia; and two brothers, Dr. Dennis (Rosemary) Heimback and John (Donna) Heimback, both of Amherst, New York. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The two Whcatfield girls were
killed by an automobile while they
were walking in the Nash Road
Saturday night.
The three fatalities hiked the toll
on county highways in 1955 to 36.
The city now has 10 traffic deaths
for the year. Both figures are new
records.
Mrs. Zulis was crossing Portage
Rd. between Welch Ave. and Ni-
agara St. when she was struck and
dragged about 15 feet by a car that
an unidentified witness called an
old model.
Returning From Theater
Patrolman C. W. Bearfield and
Traffic Officers Robert H. Wolfe
and Bruno Giunta were told by the
witness that the left headlight of
the hit-and-run vehicle went out
after the impact. The car then
turned right in Niagara St. and
fled.
Mrs. Zulis was promounced dead
on her arrival at Memorial Hos-
pital. Her husband, who came to
the hospital to identify the body,
said Mrs. Zulis was returning home
from the Hippofrome Theater
when the accident happened about
10 p.m.
Mrs. Zulis suffered a broken left
arm, left leg, head injuries and
possible internal injuries.
Police apparently had no leads
on the identity of the death car
driver as they pursued their inves-
tigation today. No one was able
to get the license of the vehicle
nor was there any debris or glass
left at the point of impact, accord0
ing to investigating officers.
Second Hit-Run Death
It was the second hit and run
death in the city in less than two months. William T. Royer, 88, of
1864 Niagara Ave., died Oct. 27
as the result of injuries he suffered
when struck in Ontario Ave. Oct. 2.
Police have never found the driver
who hit him.
The teenage girls, close friends
for seven years, were pronounced
dead on arrival at DeGraff Memor-
ial Hospital, North Tonawanda
after they were struck by an auto
operated by Herbert James Mosher,
21, of 308 Falconer St., North
Tonawanda, in the Nash Rd., about
a half mile from Niagara Falls
Blvd.
The girls, sophomores at North
Tonawanda High School, were
killed shortly after they left the
Wiegand home about 10 p.m. Bar-
bara Ann was to walk part way
home with Linda. It was custom-
ary for the girls to walk with one
another half way between their
homes when they visited together
at night.
Mrs. Wesche had phoned her
daughter and asked her to start for
home because the streets were
slippery.
Skids Into Ditch
Mosher struck the girls shortly
after they left the Wieganf drive-
way. He said they were walking
south in the Nash Rd., the same
direction in which he was driving.
Niagara County Criminal Dep-
uty Rudolph Ziehm said Mosher
said he was going about 35 miles
an hour and did not see the girls
until he was about 20 feet away
from them.
Mosher reported he applied his
brakes and after hitting the girls
skidded across the road into a
ditch. The girls were thrown about
100 feet by the force of the impact.
The car skidded against a culvert
and ended up in a ditch 2230 feet
farther down the road.
Mosher was arrested by sheriff's
deputies and held for the grand
jury on a charge of criminal negli-
gence in the operation of an auto.

He waived examination on the
criminal negligence charge and
was remanded to jail by Peace
Justice John E. Culver, Town of
Wheatfield.
Passengers in the Mosher car
were Albert Cholewa of Nash Rd.,
and John McGrath of 308 Falconer

Miller, of 258 Edward St., North
Tonawanda, Mosher's step-father.
Linda suffered a fractured skull,
compound fractures of both legs
and internal injuries. Barbara ann
received a multiple fractured spine,
complete severance of the trachea
and fractures of both legs.
Mrs. Zulis was born in Lithuania
but lived in this city since 1919,

Besides her husband she is sur-
vived by two sons, Louis Casper,
this city, and Clarence Casper, At-
lanta, Ga., and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at
9:15 a.m. Thursday at the Tu-
binis Funeral Home where friends
may call after noon tomorrow. A
Solemn Requiem Mass will be cele-
brated at 10 a.m. thursday at St.
George's Church. Burial will be in
Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

NORTH TONAWANDA - Patricia L. Woods, formerly of Niagara Falls, died on Sunday, March 2, 2014 in DeGraff Skilled Nursing Facility. She was 69. She was born in North Tonawanda on June 27, 1944, the daughter of the late Erwin and Mildred (Schoenfeld) Krull.

Mrs. Woods worked in the Gilmore School Cafeteria and as a tray girl at DeGraff Memorial Hospital. A member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Patricia enjoyed hunting and fishing. She was a member of TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) as well.

Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Jerry A. Woods; five sons, Terry Woods, Niagara Falls; Richard Woods, Henderson, NV; Jerry Michael Woods (Maureen), Holiday, FL; Donald Woods (Marybeth) of Clarence Center, and Eric Kleiner of Niagara Falls; siblings, Judith Zastrow of Wheatfield; Jim Krull (Barbara) of Wheatfield; Paul Krull (Anita) of Ohio; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4-7 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls. A memorial service will be held Thursday 11 AM in St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1135 Oliver Street, North Tonawanda. LOCKPORT — David J. Schoenfeldt, age 54, of the Town of Lockport, suddenly at the Erie County Medical Center on Sunday, June 5, 2011. David worked for the Lockport Union Sun and Journal in the Advertising Department. An avid Buffalo sports enthusiast, his favorite times were spent with friends and family enjoying the games. Loving caretaker of his father, James Schoenfeldt (the late Dorothy).

Loving husband of Laurie (nee Powell) Schoenfeldt of Lockport. Proud and loving father of Philip and Haley Schoenfeldt. Dear brother of Beth (William) Exton of Perry and Paul (Althea) Schoenfeldt of Richardson, TX. Also surviving are four nieces, a great-nephew and a great-niece.

Friends received by the family on Wednesday from 5-9 PM at the Brunner Funeral Home (692-3841), 156 Robinson St., North Tonawanda, where services will be held on Thursday morning at 11:00 AM.
