Mrs. Wilhelmina Schimschack

Mrs. Wilhelmina Schimschack, 86, died this morning at the home of her son, August, Bergholz, after a lingering illness. Born in Germany, Mrs. Schimschack had resided in Bergholz the past 53 years. She was a member of the Holy Ghost church in Bergholz. She leaves five sons, August and Herman, Bergholz; Ferdinand, Lockport; Fred, St, Johnsburg and Otto, Pekin; a brother, August Schroeder, Steubenville, O.; 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Rites will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock from the late residence and at 2 o’clock from the Holy Ghost church. The Rev. John Kuchenbecker will officiate. Burial will be the Holy Ghost cemetery.

Albert F. Schimschack, 32 years old, a well known resident of Bergholtz,
died at his home late Saturday afternoon as the effects of typhoid fever.
The deceased is survived by his widow and three children, his mother, Mrs.
Albert Schimschack and five brothers, Herman, Ferdinand, Frederick, Otto and
August Schimschack. The funeral will be held from the late home at
Bergholtz at 2 o'clock and a half hour later from the German Lutheran Church
at Bergholtz. Burial will be at Bergholtz

Old Hornet Sting Fatal to Lockport Resident at 67
LOCKPORT. May 1 - An infection resulting from a hornet sting suffered two years ago resulted in the death of Ferdinand Schimschack, 67, of 3 McCue avenue, today at Lockport City hospital. Mr. Schimschack's son, Albert P. Schimschack, 83 Beverly avenue, said his father was stung on the left ankle by a hornet. He spent several weeks in the hospital at the time but the infection was never fully cleared up and he had been in the hospital several times since. A native of Germany, Mr. Schimschack came to this country when he was one year old with-his parents, Mr. and Mrs. August Schimschack. who settled in Bergholtz. Fifty years ago he came to this city where he was employed for 28 years by the Richmond Manufacturing company and later for 17 years on the barge canal. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Schimschack; his son and three brothers, Herman and William, of Bergholtz, and Fred, of St. Johnsburg. The funeral will be held Thursday at 8:30 a. m. at the home of the son and at 9 o'clock at St. John's church. Interment will be in St. Patrick's cemetery.

Otto W. Schimschack

Otto W. Schimschack, 62, of 304 Stenzil St., died this morning in the DeGraff Memorial Hospital after a lingering illness. A native of Bergholtz, he retired three years ago as a tavern and restaurant keeper at Pekin, N. Y. He was in business at Pekin for 12 years. Prior to that he was employed for 32 years by the Aluminum Company of America, Niagara Falls. He was a member of the company’s 25-Year-Club. He was also a member of the Pekin Fire Department and the St. Paul’s Evangelical and Lutheran Church on East Felton St. He was a deacon of the church at the time of his death. He was also a former trustee of the church. Surviving are his wife, Ella, nee Broecker; two daughters, Mrs. Charles Tomm and Mrs. Edgar Milke of Pekin; two sons, Alfred O. of Newfane and Robert C. of Pekin; four grandchildren, four brothers, Herman and William R. of Bergholtz, Fred of St. Johnsburg, and Ferdinand of Lockport. Last rites will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the residence and at 2:30 p.m. from the St. Paul’s Church. The Rev. Leonard Baldwin will officiate. Burial will be in Elmlawn.

William A. Schimschack

William A. Schimschack, 60, of Washington St., Bergholtz, died yesterday afternoon in the Memorial Hospital, Niagara Falls. He was a life-long resident of the Town of Wheatfield, a member of the Holy Ghost Church and the Bergholtz Fire Company. For 42 years he was employed at the Carborundum Company’s plant in Niagara Falls. Surviving are his wife, Magdalena, nee Voelker; three sons, Alvin and Donald of Bergholtz and Wilbert of Sanborn; three daughters, Mrs. Norman DeVantier and Mrs. Lewis Heuer of Bergholtz and Mrs. Wallace Pfohl of Sanborn; five grandchildren and two brothers, Herman of Bergholtz and Fred of St. Johnsburg. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the residence and at 2:30 p.m. from the Holy Ghost Church. The Rev. Victor Dahlke will officiate and interment will be in Holy Ghost Cemetery.

ELEANOR V. TOMM
Mrs. Eleanor V. Tomm, 62. of 5841 Buffalo St., Sanborn, died Sunday (Sept. 6. 1970) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital after a short illness. A native of North Tonawanda Mrs Tomm moved to Pekin 21 years ago and operated with her brother, the late Robert Schimschack, Schimschack's Restaurant in Pekin for several years. Her brother died last May 28. In the early 1950's, Mrs. Tomm went to Florida where she operated a restaurant and hotel on Singer's Island, Riviera Beach, Fla., for five years. She returned to Pekin-Sanborn in 1958 and had been a cook at the Bergholz Fire Hall restaurant since. She entered the hospital four weeks ago. Mrs. Tomm is survived by her husband, Charles (Whitey) Tomm, Sanborn; a brother, Al Schimschack, Glendora, Calif., and a sister, Mrs. Joseph(Grace) Hassan, Hinsdale, N.Y. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, North Tonawanda. with the Rev. Matthew A. WHEATFIELD-Edna (Schimschack) Pfohl, 76, of Lockport Road, died. Friday (Feb. 12, 1993), in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Town of Lewiston. She was born in Wheatfield on Feb. 2, 1917, to August and Hulda (Voelker) Schimschack. After marrying Wallace "Wally" Pfohl on Oct. 19, 1942, she and her husband worked on the family's dairy farm. Mrs. Pfohl traveled with her husband and five bands, including the Bergholz German Band, throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church on Walmore Road, and an active member of the Women of the Church for several years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Carol Walck of Sanborn; a son, Harry Dickenson of Wheatfield; two sisters, Irma DeVantier and Eunice Heuer, both of Bergholz; three brothers, Alvin Schimschack and Wilbert Schimschack, both of Bergholz, and Donald Schimschack of North Tonawanda; three grandchildren; a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to. 9 p.m. Monday at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road. The . Rev. Herbert R. Alvin A. Schimschack, 78, of Schultz Street, a former inspector at the Carborundum Co. Abrasives Division in Wheatfield, died Thursday (Oct. 30, 1997) at his home.
He was a lifelong resident of Wheatfield.
Schimschack served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Wheatfield Post 1451, American Legion, and of Friedens United Church of Christ in North Tonawanda, where he served on various boards. He was the church cemetery sexton for many years.
Schimschack enjoyed woodworking and baseball.
His wife, the former Leona Jaeger, died in 1995.
Survivors include a son, William of Wheatfield; a sister, Eunice Heuer; a brother, Donald of North Tonawanda; two grandsons; and two great-grandsons.

Schimschack, 74, of Schultz Street died Friday (Jan. 6, 1995) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a long illness.
He had worked at the former Bergholz Garage, where he was part owner, and at Bell Aircraft. He worked as a custodian for the Niagara-Wheatfield School District until retiring in 1979.
He was an exempt member of the Bergholz Volunteer Fire Department, serving more than 50 years.
Survivors include his wife, the former Helen L. Kroening; two sisters, Irma DeVantier and Eunice Heuer; and two brothers, Donald of North Tonawanda and Alvin.
The Bergholz Volunteer Fire Department will hold a memorial service at 7 P.M. today in DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road.

Eunice was a lifelong member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, where she was active in various organizations in the church over the years. She was a former active member of Tri-Community Ambulance Service and was a member of the Bergholz Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, Wheatfield Seniors, Wheatfield Democratic Club, an elections inspector with the Niagara County Board of Elections, enjoyed playing euchre and pinochle, baking and candy making. Eunice had been employed at the Carborundum Company, coated abrasives division, helped operate the former family store in Niagara Falls, Heuer's Market with her husband, and then at Sanger's Market.Survivors include her daughter, Kathleen (Keith) Potter of Bergholz; granddaughter, Bethany Potter; longtime friend, Beulah; great-granddog, Murphy; and many nieces and nephews. TOWN OF WHEATFIELD — Dolores Lydia (Moll) Andrees, age 86, of the Town of Wheatfield, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on April 13, 2011. Dolores was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church and enjoyed being active in various church activities, such as choir and the Ladies Aid. She worked in food service preparation for the Niagara Wheatfield School District until her retirement. Two of her favorite hobbies were gardening and flower arranging.

Dolores was the daughter of the late Edward J. and Lydia (Schimschack) Moll; and the sister of the late Shirley M. (Gilbert) Walck. Dolores is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, William A. Andrees; two sons, Gary W. (Gail) Andrees, of Akron, NY and David L. (Marianna) Andrees of North Tonawanda; and a daughter, Susan B. (Michael) Kenyon of St. Mary's, GA; also surviving are four granddaughters, Christy Dunn, Gina Andrees, Natalie Andrees and Bethany Andrees; and two great-grandchildren, Carlton Carter and Rileigh Dunn.

She was a Sunday School Teacher, and housed many missionaries, and held Bible Studies at her home for many years. Lois was involved with a group of friends known as "The Club". She also enjoyed traveling and traveled to Israel and throughout the United States and Canada. She was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Reuben, who died on October 12, 1992. Stenzel served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956.

He enjoyed playing golf and horseshoes with his son.

Buchholz, 84,  formerly of Hallsport Road passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at the Northgate Health Care in North Tonawanda, N.Y.  She was born on November 9, 1938 in Lockport, NY, the daughter of the late Rueben and Hilda (Schimschack) Stenzel. On June 7, 1958 in Bergholz she married hee husband of sixty-one years, Oscar L. Buchholz, who predeceased her on September 21, 2019.
She was raised in Bergholz, NY in Niagara County. She also formerly resided in Lockport and North Tonawanda. She moved to the Wellsville area in 1983. During her early years, Dianne was a waitress for her Aunt and Uncle.  She was a dedicated mother and grandmother who enjoyed taking care of her family.
She is survived by: three daughters, Corinne (Ralph) Maday of SC, Brigette (James) Grawe of North Tonawanda, and Donna (Duane) Moderacki of North Tonawanda; six grandchildren, Adam, James, Jennifer, Jamie, Jozef, and Brett; twelve great-grandchildren, Olivia, Addison, Kendal, Carter, Ryan, Ella, Samuel, Brigette, Sophia, Leah, Allie, and William; one brother, Douglas (Gayle) Stenzel of FL; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. NEWFANE — Sallie A. Thompson, of Wilson, NY, wife of the late Gary E. Thompson, entered into rest Saturday, March 16, 2013 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Newfane. She was born in Lockport, NY, January 19, 1938, the daughter of the late Albert and Sarah Mullaney Shimshack. Her husband, Gary E. Thompson, died November 30, 2000.

Sallie was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy in Lockport, NY. She received her Bachelor of Science from Buffalo State Teachers College, class of 1959. Sallie was a Kindergarten teacher for 25 years in Newfane Central School and retired in 1997. She moved to Wilson 53 years ago, coming from Lockport.

Member of St. Brendan on the Lake R.C. Church. Sallie was a past member of the Barton Group Inter-Community Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary for many years. Past member of the Board of Directors for Eastern Niagara Hospital; also was a member of NYS Retired Teachers Association, Gnostic Guild Literacy Group, Olcott Yacht Club and cherished playing Bridge with her friends.

Obituary of Richard Schimschack, Sr.

Richard D. Schimschack, Sr., age 69 of Lewiston, died Thursday December 21, 2017 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, after a brief illness.
Richard was born May 27, 1948 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Robert and Margaret (Powley) Schimschack and he attended Niagara Wheatfield Schools.  A Vietnam Veteran, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in April of 1966 and served until his honorable discharge in May of 1969. Richard served aboard the USS Fletcher (DD870) and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with I bronze star. On November 7, 1970 he married Dawn E. (Olds) Schimschack and he had lived in Lewiston for the last 47 years. Dawn predeceased him in 2013.
Richard owned and operated Schimschack's Painting until retirement. Richard's fondest memories and happiest times however always surrounded family.  From growing up around the family restaurant, marrying, raising his own children and most recently spending time with his beloved grandchildren, these were his greatest joys. 
He is survived by his son, Richard D. Schimschack, Jr. of Niagara Falls, NY; his daughter, Nicole (Patrick) Krawczyk of Lewiston; his grandchildren, Cooper and Carter Krawczyk; a brother, Robert (Helen) Schimschack of Bergholtz and several nieces and nephews.

Dickenson, 64, of Sanborn, NY, passed into eternal rest with his Lord and Savior at Schoellkopf Health Center in Niagara Falls on January 20, 2023, after a brief illness. He was born in Newark, NY, on April 17, 1958Harry was the foster son of his mother and father, the late Edna and Wallace Pfohl and was raised on their dairy farm in Niagara County. He is survived by a sister Carol (late Gilbert) Walck as well as a niece and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was a lifelong member of St Peter’s Lutheran Church where he often served as an usher and helped keep attendance records for both the church and Sunday school. He attended St. Peter’s Lutheran school and was a graduate of the Niagara Wheatfield class of 1977. After graduation, Harry had worked at various local businesses as well as helping on the family farm.Harry loved being a statistician for his Niagara Wheatfield sports teams and stayed in touch with many of the players and coaches. Harry enjoyed attending local sporting events and most Saturdays during the football season you would find him at the NW football field watching his Falcons. Being able to attend these events was made possible with the help of his good friend Brian Hapeman. Harry also enjoyed being a volunteer statistician and scorekeeper for the Lutheran Basketball League for over 45 years, it was his life.Harry often spoke about his love for music, especially German and Polka music. Harry had been a member of the Bergholz German Band and the American Legion Sikora Post Band of North Tonawanda where he played the drums for many years. Harry also took pride in participating in the Western New York Challenger Sports League’s bowling division which he attended for over 10 years.Service will be held on Tuesday (January 24) at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kurt Jensen officiating. Memorials may be made in Harry’s name to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or St. Peter’s Lutheran School, 6167 Walmore Road, Sanborn, NY 14132. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on September 14, 1971; son of Donald and Marina (Posa) Wolanske. A graduate of Niagara Wheatfield High School, and attended Bryant and Stratton College. Robert was a former member of St. James Lutheran Church in Bergholz, where he was confirmed. He was employed at Strenkoski Brothers Construction Co., Inc. and Cafarella Concrete Co.
