MIDDLEPORT - Mrs. Amelia (Haseley) Buehring, 84, formerly of Haseley Road, Wolcottsville died Saturday night (Feb. 19, 1966) at Mount View Hospital, Lockport, where she had been a patient for two days. She was born July 15, 1881 in the Town of Niagara, daughter of John and Fredericka Wolfe Haseley. She was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Wolcottsville and a lifelong resident of this area. Her husband Charles F. Buehring died in 1937. Surviving are four daughters Mrs. Frank (Leona) Giertz, Lockport; Mrs. Erich J. (Irene) Haseley, Niagara Falls; Mrs, Robert (Lillian) Perry, Middleport; and Mrs. Albert (Carrie) Harvey, Lockport; 10 grandchildren, and 28 greatgrandchildren. Ruth A. Ewald of Akron, passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at Brothers of Mercy Health Care Facility. Mrs Ewald was born in the Town of Royalton on May 2, 1921, daughter of Henry and Edna (Giertz) Wolfe.
She has lived in the Wolcottsville area all of her life and was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wolcottsville. She was a former 4-H Leader in Wolcottsville and she taught leather crafting at the 4-H Fair. She enjoyed her family and flower gardening. She and her husband, Carlton Ewald, were married on July 17, 1942 in Wolcottsville. He predeceased her in 1995. She was also predeceased by a daughter, Sharon Brandt; two sons, David Ewald and Bruce Ewald; a son-in-law, Donald Frey; a grandson, Jeff Ewald; her siblings, Erma Glena, Helen Kozloski, Mabel Morgan, Dolores Eldridge, Anna Eick, Gertrude Glena and Kenneth Wolfe.
She is survived by her children, Ralph (Margaret) Ewald of Ransomville, Sandra Frey of Lockport, Keith (Diane) Ewald of Ohio and Kevin (Nancy) Ewald of Lockport. Also survived by 16 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert "Bob" L. Horanberg

LOCKPORT —
Robert "Bob" L. Horanberg passed away on October 29, 2012 in Niagara Hospice House. He was born in Johnson Creek on September 23, 1918, the only child of Albert and Ida Horanberg.
He attended Newfane schools and graduated Salutatorian of his class in 1936. Bob played varsity both basketball and baseball. He entered the employ of The Farmers & Mechanics Savings Bank, (now First Niagara) and retired in December 1982 as Senior Vice President and Mortgage Officer. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Port Surgeon's office in Colon, Panama and was discharged as a Staff Sergeant in January of 1946. Bob was a graduate of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University. He also completed several appraisal courses at Harvard University, Ohio State University and Swarthmore College. Bob was awarded membership in the Institute of Real Estate Appraisers and was the first one in Niagara County to receive the M.A.I. designation.
Mr. Horanberg served the community in many ways. He was Treasurer of Trinity Lutheran Church over 52 years, Treasurer of the Lockport Chapter of the American Red Cross for 30 years, Secretary of the Lockport Real Estate for 31 years. He was past President of the Rotary Club of Lockport where he was a member for over 53 years. He worked for many years with the various charitable organizations. Mr. Horanberg was interested in all sports. He was an avid bridge player. He obtained an amateur radio license (ham radio) in 1964 but devoted most of his time, after retirement to his computer.
His wife, Mary (Mary Elizabeth Thurston) of over 71 years predeceased him. He leaves one son, Guy (Patricia) of Saugus, CA; two daughters, Susan Gray of Lewiston and Karen (David) Karas of Glendale, AZ; two grandchildren, Caryn Czajka of Rochester, NY and Lyndsay (Robert) Quiggle of Chittenango, NY; three great-grandchildren, Alexis Taylor and Mercedes Czajka of Rochester and Lily Quiggle of Chittenango. Mr Horanberg resided at 193 Irving Street which he had built in 1948.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, October 31st from 3-7 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. body of a dump truck he was
repairing fell on him. He was
dead on arrival at Lockport

found by a neighbor, Carl
Harch. He summoned help and
the victim was rushed to Lock-

According to the report. Mr.
Haseley had raised the truck

Born Feb. 16, 1910, in the
Town of Royalton, Mr. Haseley
was the son of Fred and Anna
Wittcopp Haseley and had re-
sided in this vicinity all his
life. He was employed by the

Mrs. Brandt was born in Medina, NY on September 11, 1944, daughter of Ruth (Wolfe) Ewald and the late Carlton Ewald.She grew up in the Wolcottsville area and had lived in Lockport for 43 years. She and her husband, Edward H. Brandt, were married May 6, 1978. She was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Lockport and was a Pre-K teacher for the church from l988 to l999. She enjoyed her family, crafts and gardening.She is survived by her husband, Edward H. Brandt; her children, Allen Hoste and Gregory Tammy) Hoste, all of Lockport and Cheryl (Darren) May of Michigan and her mother, Ruth Ewald of Clarence, NY. Also surviving are her step-children, Edward Brandt of Frankfort, NY, Mary Brandt and Cynthia Brandt, both of Mohawk, NY and Sharon (David) Wert of South Carolina. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; three brothers and one sister, Ralph (Margaret) Ewald of Ransomville, Sandra (late Donald) Frey of Lockport, Keith (Diane) Ewald of Ohio and Kevin (Nancy) Ewald of Akron, NY; a brother-in-law, David (Anne) Brandt of Pennsylvania and several nieces and nephews.Friends may call Thursday from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM at the Bates, Wallace and Heath Funeral Home, 38 State St., Middleport. 4 Others Hurt; Woman Was Returning From Accident Victim's Funeral
LOCKPORT, Oct. 26 - A mother and her two small children were killed at 4 o'clock-yesterday afternoon in a two-car collision at Slayton Settlement and Orangeport
roads, near Gasport. Four other persons were injured. The dead: Mrs. Rose Ann Baehr, 23, of Lockport-Olcott Rd., Wrights Corners. Jerry Baehr, 3-1/2, Roger Baehr, five weeks. The injured: Clarence Otto Baehr, 27, husband of the dead woman, severe head and internal injuries, condition critical. Paul Piatt, 17, of Appleton, multiple contusions, shock and perhaps internal injuries. Carolyn Thiel, 14, of Barker, jaw fracture, cuts and bruises. Patricia Meland, 15, of Barker, multiple abrasions, shock and possibly a hip fracture.
Trapped Under Car
Sheriffs deputies said all the injured were taken to Lockport City Hospital . They said Baehr was driving one auto, Platt the other. The meland and Thiel girls were riding with Platt Mrs. Baehr was killed instantly when she was thrown from her
husband's auto and pinned beneath Piatt's car. The children, also thrown from the car, were rushed to City Hospital, but were pronounced dead on arrival there. The Baehrs were returning home from the funeral of John Leffler Jr., 12, of West Shelby, one of two boys who were burned to death last Thursday when an auto in
which they were riding went out of control and down an embankment near Gasport. Yesterday's accident occurred less than a mile from the scene of Thursday's tragedy. Mrs. Baehr was a cousin of the Leffler boy. Mrs. Baehr's brother, Donald Weir of Newfane, said the Baehrs took their baby, Roger, to St.
Michael's Church at Wolcottsville yesterday morning to be christened and went from there to the Leffler funeral. Mrs. Baehr lived at Wolcottsville until her marriage about seven years ago.
"Saw Nothing Coming"
Lester Meland of Barker, father of the Meland girl, said his daughter and the Thiel girl had lunch together at noon, then went for a ride with Piatt. All three are
students at Barker Central School. Piatt told deputies he was driving south in Orangeport Road, and stopped at the intersection for a boulevard stop sign. "I looked both ways, but saw nothing coming," he said. When he started across Slayton Settlement Road Piatt said, the Baehr car "loomed up from the east," and struck the side of his auto. The careening autos knocked down a power pole, then crashed against a viaduct on the opposite side of the road. The Piatt car had to be raised by passersby before Mrs. Baehr's body could be extricated. Dr. Walter Albach, Newfane coroner, said he would await a complete report of the accident
before issuing death certificates. Funeral plans for the three victims are being completed today.

NEWFANE — Donald L. Weir, of Newfane, NY, entered into rest on Monday, June 26, 2012 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport, NY. Donald was born in the Town of Royalton, NY, the son of the late Lester and Irene Yago Weir. He worked at Niagara Implement for many years. He enjoyed watching sports, playing lottery and going to the horse races.

Brother of the late Anna Rose Baehr, Maryanne Dunlap and Howard Weir. Brother-in-law of Marilyn Weir of Burt, NY. Uncle of Linda (William) Kay, Alan Weir, Debbie (Thomas) Fabian and Brenda (William) Kellner. Also survived by several great-nieces and great-nephews.

LOCKPORT - Elton E. (Red) Giertz, 48, of 266 Ontario St., died Sunday at his home after suffering an apparent heart attack. The rescue squad of the Lockport Fire Department reponded and the resuscitator was used with no reponse. Willis C. Strickland, of Niagara County Coroner, pronounced the man dead at the scene. Mr. Giertz was a native of Niagara Falls, born July 15, 1923, the son of Frank and Leona Buehring Giertz. He was an inspector at the Harrison. Radiator Division of General Motors Corp. for the past six years. He had formerly been an employe of' the Upson Co. here. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Lockport Horseshoe League, the U&W Local 686 and their Bowling League; and was a WWII Air Force veteran. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; a son, Richard W. Giertz; a daughter, Mrs. Duane Godfrey; his mother, Mrs. Leona Giertz, and three grandchildren all of here. LaVern E. Haseley

Of the Town of Niagara, went to be with his Lord on Friday, November 11, 2022, under the care of his family at  home.  He was born on the family homestead, on May 23, 1930, a son of the late Erich and Irene [Buehring] Haseley.
Mr. Haseley attended Trott Vocational High School.  He was a self employed farmer, operating several farms on Lockport Road and on Lower Mountain Road in Cambria.
Mr. Haseley was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church Walmore, where he formerly held the offices of President and Trustee.  He proudly served as a past Town of Niagara Councilman and a member of it's Environmental Board.  He was a member of the Niagara County Farm Bureau and had served on the of Directors of Wendt's Dairy.
While he appreciated traveling across the United States, his favorite trips were local, to check on the crops.
He enjoyed the companionship of his faithful dogs who laid by his feet until his last day.
Mr. Haseley valued his time spent with family and friends at his farm in the Southern Tier and enjoyed hunting and snowmobiling.
He was the husband of 62 years to the late Ruth M. [Beutel] Haseley, who passed away in January of 2015.
He is survived by his five children Jane (Frank) Donato, Bonnie Mehls, Cindy (late Timothy) Engleka, Ann (late Frank) Testman, Charles Haseley, ten grandchildren and cherished  great-grandchildren,  he is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Haseley was the father of the late James Haseley and brother of the late Gladys Schildhauer and Florence Haseley,

Gladys L. Schildhauer (Haseley), age 81, of Haseley Drive, Town of Niagara, was called to her heavenly home on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at her residence. Born in the Town of Niagara, NY on March 7, 1926 to the late Erich and Irene (Buehring) Haseley. She was a life long member of St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church in Walmore, where she was with the Women of the Church Quilting Group. Gladys graduated from LaSalle High School, was employed for several years at Moore Business Forms in Niagara Falls and was a devoted homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and worked at the L.A.D.D. shop in Niagara Falls. Survivors include her husband, William W. Schildhauer; they were married June 12, 1948; five children, Gary (Louise) Schildhauer, Joyce (Ed) Harris, Robert (Denise) Schildhauer, Wendy (Ken) Pendergast and Donald (Peggy) Schildhauer; a brother, LaVern (Ruth) Haseley; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. LOCKPORT — Phyllis (Perry) Gottman Harvey, of Middleport, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Heritage Manor, Lockport, NY, on July 16, 2012.

Phyllis was born in the Town of Hartland on September 22, 1931, daughter of the late Robert and Mildred (Buehring) Perry.

Phyllis was a 1949 graduate of Royalton Hartland High School. She worked at Fisher Price in Medina for several years until her retirement in l993. She was a previous member of the Middleport Princess Chapter #405 O.E.S. and the Middleport United Methodist Church.

Phyllis was a resident of Middleport for her entire life. She had a cheerful spirit and a hearty laugh. She enjoyed spending time with her family, camping and her recent class reunions. Her perseverance was an inspiration to all.

She was predeceased by her husbands, William Gottman and Anthony Harvey.

Loving mother of Diane (Rick) Strusienski of Lockport, Linda (Kim) Snell of Medina, and Charlene (Mark) Murdoch of Florida. Step-mother of Dave (Joyce) Harvey, Paul (Sandy) Harvey, Karen (Tom) Todd and Kathy (Tom) Riexinger. Obituary of Charles Robert Perry
Charles Robert Perry of Middleport, faithfully and peacefully concluded his earthly life and stepped into eternity on his 94th birthday, November 1, 2020 at his home with his family by his side. Charles was of man of quiet faith and service to God, his family, his country and his community.He was born on November 1, 1926, the oldest son of Robert and Mildred (Buehring) Perry and lived in Middleport his entire life. After graduating from Royalton-Hartland Central School in 1945, he served in the US Army for 18 months in Germany. After returning home he attended Bryant and Stratton Business School and began a career at Harrison Radiator as a statistician where he worked for 37 years, retiring in 1987. In 1950 he married Marjorie Manley and they were blessed to celebrate their 70th anniversary on May 27, 2020. He built their home in Middleport in 1956 and resided there his whole life. He was an active member of County Line United Methodist Church and Cataract Lodge #295 F&AM where he helped with fish fries for many years. He is survived by his wife, Marge, his daughters, Susan and Jane, six grandchildren: Ben (Susan) Atwater, Stephen (Amanda) Phillips, Adam (Hannah) Atwater, Denise Phillips, Alicia (Bob) White, Seth (Renee) Atwater and ten great-grandchildren: Marissa, Camden, Adeline, Lydia, Bailie, Elise, Nolan, Lincoln, Grant and Ashlyn. Also survived by his brother, Donald Perry and many nieces, nephews and cousins who have provided love and support over the years. He was pre-deceased by sons-in-law, Richard Atwater and Timothy Phillips, also his sister, Phyllis. She also looked forward to special occasions that would require the nursery to be open. Pat was an avid Gator fan and had an unconditional love for the Gators. She anxiously anticipated Saturday afternoons when Orange and Blue filled the Swamp. In the Spring, she cheered Gator Basketball to "the Dance" in March Madness. Pat was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Lila Haseley; and her brother, Louie Long. Jeffrey M. " Jeff " Ewald, age 40 of Akron, Erie County, NY, formerly of Ransomville, NY died Sunday, November 13th, 2005 at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, after being stricken ill at home with an apparent heart attack.
Jeff was born in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, on March 1, 1965, the son of Ralph W. and Margaret R. [ Haseley ] Ewald. He had attended St. Peter Lutheran School - Walmore, Sanborn, NY prior to moving to Ransomville, NY, in 1975, where he attended the Wilson Central School. He was a graduate of the Wilson Central High School in the Class of 1983.
Jeff was a carpenter, who worked with his father at R W E Woodworking, Inc., following his graduation from high school. Jeff was a collector of John Deere Antiques and memorabilia, who also enjoyed hunting. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, and the WNY Two Cylinder Association.
Surviving in addition to his parents are three brothers, Brett [ Sheryl ] Ewald, of Wilson, NY; Shawn [ Stacey ] Ewald, of Larchmont, NY; Shane Ewald of Dallas TX; one sister, Julie [ Hristo ] Doichev, of San Jose, CA; a nephew, Alex Ewald; two nieces, Jessica Ewald; Kaissa Doichev, his paternal grandmother Ruth Ewald, of Akron, Erie County, NY, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Trapped Under Car
Sheriff deputies said all the in-
jured were taken to Lockport City
Hospital. They said Baehr was
driving one auto; Platt, the other.
The Meland and Thiel girls were
riding with Platt.
Mrs. Baehr was killed instantly
when she was thrown from her
husband's auto and pinned beneath
Platt's car. The children, also
thrown from the car, were rushed
to City Hospital, but were pro-
nounced dead on arrival there.
The Baehrs were returning home
from the funeral of John Leffler
Jr., 12, of West Shelby, one of two
boys who were burned to death
last Thursday when an auto in
which they were riding went out
of control and plunged down an
embankment near Gasport. Yes-
terday's accident occurred less than
a mile from the scene of Thursday's
tragedy.
Mrs. Baehr was a cousin of the
Leffler boy.
Mrs. Baehr's brother, Donald
Weir of Newfane, said the Baehrs
took their baby, Roger, to St.
Michael's Church at Wolcottsville
yesterday morning to be christened
and went from there to the Leffler
funeral. Mrs. Baehr lived at Wolcottsville
until her marriage about
seven years ago.
"Saw Nothing Coming"
Lester Meland of Barker, father
of the Meland girl, said his daughter
and the Thiel girl had lunch
together at noon, then went for a
ride with Piatt. All three are
students at Barker Central School.
Piatt told deputies he was driving
south in Orangeport Road, and
stopped at the intersection for a
boulevard stop sign.
"I looked both ways, but saw
nothing coming," he said.
When he started across Slayton
Settlement Road Piatt said, the
Baehr car "loomed up from the
east," and struck the side of his
auto.
The careening autos knocked
down a power pole, then crashed
against a viaduct on the opposite
side of the road.
The Platt car had to be raised
by passersby before Mrs. Baehr's
body could be extricated.
Dr. Walter Albach, Newfane
coroner, said he would await a
complete report of the accident
before issuing death certificates.
Funeral plans for the three victims
are being completed today.

and her two small children were
killed at 4 o'clock-yesterday afternoon
in a two-car collision at Slayton
Settlement and Orangeport
