Frank A. Haseley, fifty-one years old, died last night at his home, 275 Stenzel street. Mr. Haseley was well known in the Gratwick section of North Tonawanda, where he had lived for many years. He was a member of the Tonawandas Aerie, No. 1411, F. O. E.; the North Tonawanda Firemen's Benevolent association, the Gratwick Hose company, the Firemen's association of the North Tonawanda fire department and the Wheatfield Benevolent association. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Haseley; three brothers, Albert, Otto and Edward Haseley, and three sisters, Mrs Fred Glawf, Mrs. Plumsteel, and Mrs. Harry Wilson, all of North Tonawanda. The Gratwick Hose Company has called a special meeting this evening at the company quarters on Felton street to make arrangements for the funeral.

who was drowned in the lower
Niagara river, near Lewiston a
week ago yesterday, while fish-
ing, was recovered last night,
about a quarter of a mile from
the spot where the tragedy oc-
curred.
The remains were brought to the
Hamp funeral home, 37 Adam
Street, today. Funeral services will
be held at 3:30 o'clock tomorrow
afternoon from the late residence
on Witmer road, town of Wheat-
field. Rev. Theophil Twente will

lawn.

57 years, died Saturday at the
age of 81 after a lengthy illness.
Until his retirement in 1962,
Mr. Krueger was clerk and
business manager for North
Tonawanda public schools for, 20 ,
y e a r s. He also worked as a
bookkeeper and paymaster for
the Rudolpf Wurlitzer Co. from
1917 to 1932, and was . an
engineering aide in the Niagara
County Highway Department
from 1933 to 1942.
A veteran of World War I, Mr.
Krueger was a life member of
Post 264. He was a member of
St. Matthew Lutheran Church
and a charter member of the
Lutheran Laymen's League. He
also served as director of the
Lutheran Service Society for 15
years.
At the time of his death, he
was living with his daughter,
Mrs. Jeanne Greer, of Pendleton.
Other survivors include Mr.
Krueger's wife, Edna Ida
Krueger; a daughter, Mrs. Ruby

North Tonawanda, June 9. - Special, - Miss Elsie Krueger, eighteen year old daughter of Edward Krueger of the Krueger road, town of Wheatfield, was found dead In her bedroom at the home of Sidney D. Stafford, this morning. Strangulation is given as the cause of death. Coroner Kittinger of Lockport gave the cause as accidental death. Miss Krueger was employed at the Stafford home as a maid. She spent last evening out, returning shortly before midnight. She was subject to epileptic fits and it is the opinion of the attending physicians that she fell against the bedstead while in a fit and her neck resting on tho top of the bedstead shut off her breathing, resulting in strangulation. She was found shortly before 9 o'clock this morning. Dr. C. W. Clendenan and Dr. M J. Schnell were summoned.

Krueger was also a member of the Adams Fire Company for 35 years and a member of St. John Lutheran Church. TOWN OF TONAWANDA — Edward C. Krueger, Jr., age 98, of the Town of Tonawanda, on June 14, 2012 in Kenmore Mercy Hospital. Edward was a former employee of Clarence Hackett/Bethlehem Steel. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church.

Beloved husband of Zola (nee Ammerman) Krueger; dear father of Judith, Edward (Donna), Beverly, and the late Vereta. Grandfather of eleven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

No prior visitation. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on Saturday at 2 PM at the Fretthold Funeral Home, Inc., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd. in North Tonawanda. The Rev. Dr. A.W. FRANKLIN, KY — Mrs. Louise Krueger Lambert, age 95, passed away, peacefully, with her daughter by her side, Sunday, April 17, 2011, at the Medco Nursing Facility in Franklin, KY.

She was born in 1916 in St. Johnsburg, NY. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary Schuler Krueger. She lived 62 years in Niagara Falls before moving to Kentucky in 2000 to live near her daughter.

Louise grew up on her family’s farm in St. Johnsburg and was the 12th of 13th children. She enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially baseball, hockey and golf. She worked for 27 years at the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center as a ward clerk.

She was preceded by two brothers, George and Henry, and six sisters, Esther, Lydia, Ruth, Meta, Mary and Lucinda.

Louise is survived by a daughter, Deanna Wilson of Franklin, KY; a son, John Lambert and his wife, Linda of Homassa, FL; a brother, Edward Krueger and his wife, Zola of Kenmore, NY; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service may be held in St. Johnsburg at a later date. If desired, donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice.

N. T. GI Dies On Front Line of Korean War
A North Tonawanda veteran with four years of service in World War II became the fourth man from the Twin Cities killed in action in the Korean conflict.
He is Pfc. Kenneth H. Glawf, 34, husband of Mrs. Shirley Glawf of 311 Bryant St. and son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Glawf of 1711 Ruie Rd.
A Department of Defense telegram received by his wife June 14 reported his death on June 3 while serving with the 27th Infantry, Wolfhound Regiment, in Korea. The telegram gave no details.
Pfc. Glawf earned a sergeant's rating in his combat infantry service in World War II. He held the combat infantryman's badge or 21-months of overseas duty and the European Theater ribbon with three stars.
He was sent to Korea in March. His latest letters home described the fierceness of the fighting. He wrote … "things are rough … the smell is terrible because of the many bodies of dead Communist soldiers unburied … they attack with disregard of weapons and often try to overcome us in hand-to-hand combat without rifles."
Pfc. Glawf was formerly employed by the Rudolph Wurlitzer Company and was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical & Reformed Church.

Townsend on May 31, 1939 in Wilson. Mr. Townsend died on November 1, 1998. Helen had worked at Mt. View Health Facility in Lockport as a cook. She retired in 1978 after 13 years. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, sewing, baking and gardening. Helen had lived most of her life in Lockport. Elmer H. Schuler, age 92, of Cambria died Friday, October 23, 2020 at Eastern Niagara Hospital Lockport. Elmer was born July 9, 1928 in Cambria, NY. He is the son of the late Elmer and the late Elizabeth (Garlock) Schuler Sr. Elmer attended local schools. He was a self-employed dairy farm with Schuler Farms of Cambria all his life. Elmer was a building inspector for many years for the Town of Cambria, he was a people person, an antique car buff, also an exempt fireman with Cambria Vol. Fire Co.He is survived by several children Thomas S. Robert L. Schuler  of the Town of Cambria, NY, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2019, in Northgate Health Care Facility, under the care of Niagara Hospice.   He was born in the Town of Cambria on June 14. 1926, the son of the late Arthur and Mary [Benthin] Schuler.
Mr. Schuler graduated from Trott Vocational High School and served with the US Army during World War II in the European Theater. 
He had worked at Wurlitzer and later with A E Gombert Lumber Company in North Tonawanda for 50 years.
Mr. Schuler was a member of Wood carvers and enjoyed camping.
He was the husband of the late Dolores [Haseley] Schuler, who passed away in May of 1996.
Mr. Schuler is survived by one son Daniel Schuler, two daughters Shirley Schuler and Linda (Daniel) Nye, two grandchildren Greg (Kim) Nye and Jennifer (Tom) Wrate, five great grandchildren Tyler, Christopher, Kelsey, Owen and Collin, he is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Harold,Carl, Arthur and John Schuler and Dora Johnston.
His family will be present on Monday  from 4-8 PM  at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME,  5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM

LOCKPORT - Arthur Schuler passed away Thursday, February 3, 2011. Born May 5, 1927, in Cambria, NY, he was the son of the late Arthur and Mary Benthin Schuler. He worked for Harrison Radiator for 34 years, retiring in 1980. Arthur was a member of the I.O.O.B. and the Redman Club. He enjoyed attending auctions, was an avid antique collector, playing the lottery, sulky horse races and especially spending time with his family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Hellert Schuler.

Arthur was the father of Susan (Doug) Hesch of Newfane and stepfather of Barbara Minervino of Georgia and Thomas Bauer of Florida. He is also survived by his grandson, Devin Hesch and stepgrandfather of Brandi Hesch-Condren, Renee Hasenfelt and Shere Bauer. Arthur was the brother of Dora Johnston of Ransomville, Robert Schuler of Cambria and the late John and Harold Schuler. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, where services will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Wheatfield Cemetery. Memorials to Niagara Hospice would be appreciated by the family.

Dora M. Johnston, age 88 of Ransomville, died Wednesday December 6, 2017 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston after a brief illness.
Dora was born, June 16, 1929 in Sanborn, NY, the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Marie (Benthin) Schuler. On January 25, 1956 she married John R. Johnston and they lived in Youngstown for many years. Dora worked as a chambermaid at the Portage House Motel in Lewiston for over 20 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown. Dora was an avid bowler and was involved with all her children's and grandchildren's activities.
Her husband, John, predeceased her in 1987. She is survived by her children, Debbie (Wayne) Pollow of Ransomville, Duffy (Tammy) Johnston of Youngstown, and Cindy (Dieter) Zahn of North Tonawanda; her grandchildren, Courtney (Albert) Zimmerman, Brittany (Shaun) Kiely, Nicole and Matthew Zahn, and Riley Johnston; her great grandchildren, Harper and Hunter Zimmerman, and Olivia Kiely; a brother, Robert (late Dolores) Schuler of Sanborn, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, John, Harold, and Arthur Schuler.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 21, at 11:00 AM in the First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown, 100 Church St., Youngstown, with the Rev. Dr. Rex Stewart officiating. She spent much time perfecting her beautiful flower gardens, bird watching on her back patio, reading, caring for her animals and always cheering on the Buffalo Bills. Jean is the mother of Jerry D. The Drmacich family is sad to announce the sudden passing of George Drmacich, 79 years old, on April 24, 2023.  George was the husband of Mary Patricia (nee Heffernan) Drmacich for 62 years; beloved father of Michael, Mary Beth, Bill and Melissa; brother of Dan Drmacich; and grandfather of Conor, Christian, Megan, Riley, Nina, Jack, Mia, Christopher, Grace, Elizabeth and Owen.  Friends and relatives will gather Thursday, April 27 from 4 to 7pm  at the HOLE-PARKER FUNERAL CHAPEL, 160 Central Avenue, Silver Creek, NY and on Friday, April 28 from 11 to 2pm at the JOHN O. ROTH FUNERAL HOME, 25 William Street, Tonawanda, NY.  A graduate of Niagara University and University at Buffalo, George taught physical education at Cardinal O’Hara High School and North Tonawanda Public Schools.  George enjoyed coaching football and track and was a founder of the Twin City Geminis semi-pro football team.  An avid windsurfer and Hobie sailor right through his 70s, he spent many happy years with Pat on the shores of Lake Erie.

John moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1972 and worked for an engineering/construction company as a piping designer. He was an avid University of Michigan football fan.
John met his wife, Linda (Snapp), on the softball field in 1975 and they married in 1978. They had two children and in 1991 moved to New Market, Maryland, working for the same engineering/construction company as an estimator.
John retired in 2005 and they moved to Homosassa, Florida, where they lived for 12 years. He continued to play senior softball in Florida until his early 70s. They relocated to Greencastle, PA, in 2018 due to John's health.
In addition to his wife of 42 years, he is survived by his two children, Ryan Lambert, and his wife, Sarah, of Hedgesville, WV, and Ashley Naylor, and her husband, Wayne, of Hagerstown, MD; five beautiful grandchildren who he will miss and dearly loved, Royce, Carter, Fiona, Langston, and Juniper; one sister, Deanna Wilson, of Franklin, KY; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He also will miss his dear childhood friends who supported him throughout his life and had over 35 years of fishing trips to Canada, Fran Giles and Chuck Hayes (deceased)

Born on February 19, 1921 in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, he was the son of the late Alexander F. and Ruth (Plumbsteel) Kelberer. On May 29, 1941, he married the former Evelyn M. Sawyer in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY.Mr. Kelberer was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, attended local schools and graduated from the former Trott Vocational High School. William served in the United States Navy, during World War II, from February 19, 1944 until his honorable discharge on January 28, 1946. From 1940 to 1958 he worked for EI DuPont and later for George’s Appliance, Niagara Welders and aided in the construction of the New York State Power Authority, and then for 24 years he worked for General Motors in Tonawanda, Erie County, NY, where he retired from. Mr. Kelberer was a member of the UAW Local #774, the 40 and 8 Society and the American Legion LaSalle Post #1142, where he served as Post Commander. Robert G. Homewood, 89, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed from this life on Friday, November 28, 2014 in DeGraff Memorial Hospital in North Tonawanda, NY, following a brief illness. Born on December 10, 1924 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Clarence and Ina (Plumsteel) Homewood.

Mr. Homewood was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY. Robert attended local schools and graduated from the former Trott Vocational High School. He proudly served in the United States Navy, during World War II, from January 13, 1943 until his honorable discharge on February 17, 1946. While serving, Mr. Homewood was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal, the American Area Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. On October 19, 1946, Robert married the former Ida Tickett in Niagara Falls, NY. She predeceased him in 1999. For 44 years, he was employed by the Occidental Chemical Corporation, until he retired on October 1, 1989. Mr. Homewood enjoyed maintaining his car and reading.

Mr. Homewood is survived by two children, Deborah (Charles) Sarzyniak of North Tonawanda, NY and Scott Homewood of Charlotte, NC and was predeceased by one son, Robert A. Homewood. Robert is also survived by three grandchildren and one sister, Jeanette Wagner of Florida. In addition to his wife and son, he was predeceased by one brother, Gerald (late Andree')Homewood.

Ellen J. (Taylor) Sczepczenski, 80 years old, died Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at her home after a long illness while under the care of Niagara Hospice. At the time of her death she was surrounded by her loving children. She was born in Niagara Falls on May 19, 1926, the daughter of the late George M. and Winifred B. (Plumsteel) Taylor. Mrs. Sczepczenski attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. For many years she ran the office at the former Niagara Radio and TV on Hyde Park Blvd. for her late husband Robert. She later worked as a bookkeeper for 15 years at Niagara Business. Mrs. Sczepczenski was a member of the LaSalle Church of Christ; the Niagara Presbyterian + 50 Club; the St. James Senior Club and the Echota Club. She enjoyed baking for her family and her church and will especially be remembered for her cookie baking. Mrs. Sczepczenski is survived by her sons, James (Deborah) Sczepczenski of Riverside, CA and Mark (Susan) Sczepczenski of Niagara Falls and her daughters, Carol (Michael) Rydzewski of Angola, NY, Christine (Harold) Earley of Noblesville, IN, Marian (David) Homiszczak of Niagara Falls, Diane (Jeffery) O'Callaghan of Sanborn and Susan (late Mark) Haseley, of Niagara Falls. BUFFALO - Gloria M. (nee Popkey) Elmer, 81, of Elma, NY, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, died on Wednesday, August 3, 2011, in Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, NY. Born on October 12, 1929 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mildred (Plumsteel) Popkey.

Mrs. Elmer was raised in Niagara Falls, NY, attended local schools and graduated from LaSalle High School in 1947. Gloria later earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Sarah Lawrence College. On December 27, 1957, she married David Elmer in Niagara Falls, NY. Mr. Elmer predeceased her on January 29, 1990. Mrs. Elmer worked as a secretary for Bell Aerospace. Gloria was later employed as a Nursery School Teacher and Licensed Real Estate Agent. In 2006, she moved to Elma, NY. Mrs. Elmer was very active in her community and was an elected member of her homeowners association. Gloria was an avid card player and especially enjoyed playing Bridge. She also liked swimming.

Mrs. Elmer is survived by three children, Brissen Leigh Elmer of Western NY, David (Beatrice Wotherspoon) Elmer of Newport, RI and Bryan Stokes (Morgan) Elmer of Denver, CO; two grandchildren, Courtney and Kaela; two brothers, Herbert (late Lois) Popkey of South Carolina and Alex (Mickey) Popkey of Missouri; one sister, Jean E. Gilbert of South Carolina and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Gloria was predeceased by three siblings, Kathleen Kazial, Robert Popkey and Jon F. Popkey.

There will be no prior visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Age 63 of the City of Tonawanda, unexpectedly July 13, 2021. Husband of 41 years to Ann Marie (nee Calabrese) Baker; father of Robert J. Baker, Jr., Danielle (Gino Saieva) Klepp and Brian Baker; grandfather of Dylan Eliseo Baker; son of the late Walter and Shirley Baker and brother of Carol (late Kenneth) Zuhr, Nancy (Peter) Schweigel, Walter (Denise) Baker, III and Barbara Zielen. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Robert was a 1977 graduate of Tonawanda High School and was an avid hunter. He had been employed by Erie County Water and Sewer Dept. for many years. There will be no prior visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday July 22, 2021 at 11 AM in St. Francis of Assisi RC Church, 150 Broad Street in Tonawanda. Funeral services will be held
Saturday in Downers Grove,
111., for Michael J. Cogswell,
2440 Pine Ave., who drown
Tuesday'in the Niagara River
near Beaver Island State Park.
Mr. Cogswell, 20, was a native
of Downers Grove, Ill. and
attended local schools there.
He came to Niagara Falls in
January, 1967 and was employed
by Union Carbide Corp.
He is survived by his parents
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Cogswell
and a brother Bruce Cogswell
all of Downers Grove. He
was the grandson of Mrs. Winifred
Taylor, Town of Niagara
and the nephew of Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Sczepczenski, Lewiston.
The body will be shipped to
the Toons Funeral Home,
Downers Grove where services
will be held Saturday. Burial
will be in St. Peter and Paul
Cemetery, Napierville, HI.
