BERGHOLTZ - June 17. Mrs. Anton Eggert (nee Albertine Hoffmeister) died Tuesday morning at her home after a stroke which she suffered Monday morning. She is survived by her husband, Anton Eggert, two sons William of Niagara Falls, LaSalle section, and Edward of this village, 4 daughters. Mrs. Frank Dutton of Tonawanda, Mrs. Arnold Krull of N.Tonawanda, Mrs. Carl Behrens of Niagara Falls, and Mrs. Roland Bruss of this village, 12 grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Henry Heuer. Last Rites Held For William F. Eggert
GASPORT, June 21 - Funeral services for William F. Eggert, Bunker. Hill Rd., one of the best known residents of this area, were held at the Zion Lutheran church, Cayuga Dr., Niagara Falls. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Lawrence Herfurth officiated. Miss Sylvia Eggert. niece of the deceased, sang a solo with her mother, Mrs. Adelia Eggert, accompanying. Mr. Eggert was born March 12, 1887, at Bergholtz. He was a member of the Holy Ghost Lutheran Church for 40 years. He also attended the Holy Ghost Parochial school and was confirmed in the Holy Ghost church. On July 24, 1926, he was united in marriage to Ella Wienke, by the Rev. Edward Grabau, formerly of Walmore. Mr. Eggert formerly resided in. Niagara Falls, LaSalle Section and was an active member of the Zion Lutheran church, Cayuga Dr., lor 25 years. He retired .several years ago, after being employed at the Carborundum Co. for almost 40 years. He served in the Infantry in World War I for two years, and was one of the last veterans in Niagara County to return home from active duty. He is survived by his wife, Ella Eggert; one daughter, Mrs. Anthony Miller, one grandson, Stanley Miller, at home, and is a brother of Mrs. Frank Dutton and Mrs. Carl Behrent, Tonawanda: Mrs. Roland Bruss, Bergholtz and the late Mrs. Arnold Krull and the late Edward H. Eggert. He was the son of the late Anthony and Albertine Eggert. NORTH TONAWANDA, Aug 4 - Mrs. Christine E. Krull. 55. of 344 Ward road, died yesterday afternoon after a prolonged illness. She was born in the Town of Wheatfield and had resided In North Tonawanda for 30 years. She is survived by her husband Arnold M; three sons, Erwin, Arthur and Wallace, five daughters, Mrs. James Dimond. Mrs Donald Janke, Mrs. Lloyd Schmidt. Mrs. Jack Hanes and Miss Marion Krull, all of the Tonawandas; two brothers, William Eggert, Ransomville, and Edward Eggert. Bergholz, and three sisters, Mrs Frank Dutton and Mrs. Carl Behrns. both of Tonawanda, and Mrs. Roland Bruss, Bergholz. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 30 pm at the family home. The Rev. BERGHOLTZ, Dec. 11 - Funeral services for Edward H. Eggert, which were held yesterday afternoon from Fretthold Funeral Home, North Tonawanda, at 2 o'clock and at 2:30 o'clock at the Holy Ghost Lutheran church, this village, were largely attended by relatives, friends and neighbors. The school children sang, "Abide With Me," with Arthur Eggers accompanying at the organ. The Rev. Victor Dahlke officiated. Mr. Eggert was born in this village on June 28, 1896, and attended the Holy Ghost parochial school. He was confirmed in the Holy Ghost Lutheran church. On October 7, 1928, he was united in marriage to Miss Adelia Ferchen. Last Tuesday he became ill and was rushed to Memorial hospital, Niagara Falls, where he died Friday. Mr. Eggert was a member of the Lutheran Layman's league and the 20-year club of the National Grinding Wheel company. North Tonawanda, where he was employed for over 20 years. He is survived by his wife, Adelia, one daughter, Sylvia, and one son, Noel. Also one brother, William Eggert. Ransomville; three sisters. Mrs. Frank Dutton and Mrs. Carl Behrens, Tonawanda, and Mrs. Roland Bruss, this village. The bearers were Norman DeVantier, Arthur Gombert, Edward Krull, Robert Motchenbough, Harold Pankow and Henry Siegman. Interment was in the Holy Ghost Lutheran cemetery.

Emma E. Bruss, former deputy registrar of vital statistics for the Town of Wheatfield, died Tuesday (March 11, 1997) in Glenwood Care Center, Oxnard, Calif. She was 96.
The former Emma Eggert was born in Wheatfield and attended Holy Ghost Lutheran School
During the 1920s she worked for the Remington Rand and Wurlitzer companies. Mrs. Bruss was deputy registrar of vital statistics during the 1940s and 1950s.
She was a member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church for 26 years and St. James Lutheran Church for 65 years. Mrs. Bruss also was a member at Mount Cross Lutheran Church in Camarillo, Calif.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Machaby of Lewiston; a son, R. Lee of Camarillo; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 A.M. Monday in DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz.

He was a former employee of Bell Aerospace in the Town of Wheatfield and National Grinding Wheel in North Tonawanda. He enjoyed his retirement by restoring antique furniture. Beloved husband of Harriet (Rankin) Krull. Father of Cynthia (Charles) Battaglia of North Tonawanda, Gloria (Michael) Schauger of Biloxi, MS, June Peresich of Saucier, MS and the late Rita Winas. She was a life-long member of St. Mark Lutheran Church. She was the wife of the late Jack Hanes who died in 2017, they had been married for over 69 years. Sylvia Carol Hilts, 85, of Sanborn, NY,  went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 19, 2018 while under the care of Niagara Hospice. She was born on  October 20, 1932 in Niagara Falls, NY,  the daughter of the late Edward and Adelia (Ferchen) Eggert.
Mrs. Hilts was employed for several years with Union Carbide and briefly for the Tonawanda News.
Music was a strong passion of hers, singing in the Niagara Chorale of NCCC and Festival Chorus with Douglas Wendt, Conductor.     She also sang in many local church choirs for Christmas and Easter Cantatas as well as being guest soloist for area church services, weddings and special occasions. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ.  
She enjoyed reading and cooking, especially preparing the fish and wild game associated with the hunting and fishing adventures of her husband and sons.   She also loved to travel around the country with her husband Bill, attending various conferences and conventions.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and her strong Christian faith carried her through 85 years. 
Mrs. Hilts is survived by her husband of 63 years William R. Hilts, they were married in March of 1955,  her four children William D. (Sandra) of Lockport, Richard E. (Lynette) of North Tonawanda, David M. (Julie) of Burt and Susan Davignon of North Tonawanda,  loving grandmother to Kiel and Owen Davignon, Christian Hilts and Natalie Adelia Hilts, step-grandmother to Marla (Kyle) Costello, Keith (Brandy) Brong and Kim Brong, as well as 12 additional step-grandchildren, a brother  Noel (Joan) Eggert of North Carolina, also several nieces and nephews.
She was a friend to many during her spiritual journey and she really appreciated the close friendship with Carol Mayer and Janelle Kroening.

Mrs. Kroening was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Bergholz, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and secretary treasurer of the Sunday school. She was also a member of the Women of the Church and the Sanborn Fire Co. Auxiliary. She was a former media relations specialist at Occidental Chemical Corp. Mrs. Kroening is survived by her husband, Clyde R. Kroening; a son, Karl R. Kroening of Sanborn; a daughter, Candace L. Kroening of Lindsay, Ont.; her mother, Emma E. Bruss; a sister, Mrs. Hector (Donna) Machaby; and a brother, Lee Bruss of California. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. There will be no prior visitation and services will be held at the convenience of the family. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. James Lutheran Church in Bergholz. Memorials to St. James Lutheran Church or New Life Christian Ministries are acceptable as tribute. The Fretthold Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

NORTH TONAWANDA - Patricia L. Woods, formerly of Niagara Falls, died on Sunday, March 2, 2014 in DeGraff Skilled Nursing Facility. She was 69. She was born in North Tonawanda on June 27, 1944, the daughter of the late Erwin and Mildred (Schoenfeld) Krull.

Mrs. Woods worked in the Gilmore School Cafeteria and as a tray girl at DeGraff Memorial Hospital. A member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Patricia enjoyed hunting and fishing. She was a member of TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) as well.

Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Jerry A. Woods; five sons, Terry Woods, Niagara Falls; Richard Woods, Henderson, NV; Jerry Michael Woods (Maureen), Holiday, FL; Donald Woods (Marybeth) of Clarence Center, and Eric Kleiner of Niagara Falls; siblings, Judith Zastrow of Wheatfield; Jim Krull (Barbara) of Wheatfield; Paul Krull (Anita) of Ohio; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4-7 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls. RANSOMVILLE — Wendy Jo (Machaby) Kavanaugh, age 57, of Ransomville, NY, left this world to fly with the Angels on Tuesday, March 29, 2011. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, to parents, Donna and Hector Machaby.

She graduated from Niagara Wheatfield H.S. in 1971, and also graduated from Niagara County Community College, Buffalo State College, and Washington State University. She beautifully played eleven instruments, all of which she was self taught. She once was the 3rd chair Bassonist in the Buffalo Philharmonic. Wendy was a very skilled craftswoman, hulling and spinning raw wool that she sheared from sheep, hand dyed, and made wearable clothing to sell in her shop, Meadow Creek Weaving, in Palmer, Washington.

Predeceased by parents, Hector and Donna Machaby. She leaves behind a sister, Sherry (Sissy) (Bill) Benz of Ransomville, NY; daughter, Callie Benz of Ransomville, NY; nephews, Nicholas Benz of Niagara Falls, NY and Wm. Jr. (Pamela) Benz of Woodstock, GA; great-niece and great-nephew, Caitlin and Colin Benz also of Woodstock , GA; also survived by the residents and staff of Heritage Manor of Ransomville; and her special friend, Ed Weber.

There will be no visitation, however there will be a memorial service at a later date. Donations will be gratefully accepted by Save-A-Pet of Lockport, due to both her love of animals. Arrangements were made by Hardison Funeral Home.
