    Obituary of Glenn Zuch

    Glenn W. Zuch, 87, a retired art teacher, died July 8, 2018 at Niagara Hospice House.
    Born in North Tonawanda, Mr. Zuch was the only son of Harold and Mary (nee Lobein)
     Zuch. He was a 1948 graduate of North Tonawanda High School and attended Buffalo State
     College for his Bachelor’s degree, having his education interrupted by service in the Army during
     the Korean War. After discharge he continued his studies, receiving his Master’s degree, cum
     laude, from the same institution. His post-graduate studies included the pursuit of a second
     Master’s degree, majoring in science education.
       Before his retirement in 1990 he taught Art for 32 years in the Sweet Home Central
     School District's Elementary Schools. He also taught summer school science and science
     enrichment for the gifted.  After retiring from the teaching profession he continued his studies and
    was awarded his Ed D degree in 1999, majoring in Educational Theory.
       An avid naturalist, Mr. Zuch was instrumental in establishing his school's outdoor
    education program and authored a series of booklets on Ecology/Field Studies for Elementary
     School Children. He was a staunch advocate of the Jenny Glen Handicapped Nature Trail at the
    Buffalo Audubon's Beaver Meadow Nature Center.
       He was a member of the Buffalo and National Audubon Societies, the American Wildlife
    Federation, a Life Member of the American Legion, a Life Member of the PTA, New York State
     Retired Teachers Association as well as many additional professional and social organizations.
    He was active in volunteer work at his church.
       Survivors include his wife of 63 years the former Betty Genet; one son, Paul W.
    of Raleigh, N.C.; a daughter, Annelise (Kevin) Newkirk of Lockport; three grandchildren and
    five great-grandchildren with number six due in August.
    Relatives and friends may call Thursday, July 12th from 4-8 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport.  Flowers gratefully declined, memorials, if so desired, may be made to:
