    ADAM REITENBACH (sic)
    Adam Reitenbach (sic), 82 years old, died this morning at his home, Shawnee road, town of Wheatfield, where he had resided for the last 40 years, coming to America from Germany. He is survived by three sons, Philip, Pickard's Bridge; Louis, town of Amherst, and Adam, Wheatfield; a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Toellner, Amherst; 18 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, and a brother, William, Wheatfield. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, standard time at the residence. Rev. Andrew Hils of the Salem church will conduct the services and interment will be in the Wheatfield cemetery.

    PHILIP BREITENBACH
    Philip Breitenbach, 78, of 96 Robinson St., died Wednesday in DeGraff Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Germany, Mr. Breitenbach came to the U.S. when he was 12 years old and has since been a resident of the North Tonawanda area. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Church of Wendelville. Surviving are five sons: Louis, Fred, Henry and Walter all of North Tonawnda, and John of the Town of Tonawanda, four daughters, Mrs. Benjamin Wendt of Sanborn, Mrs. Edward Pokelwaldt of Niagara Falls, and Mrs. Kenneth Bayer and Mrs. Earl Bayer of Wendelville; 14 grandchildren, four great grandchildren; two brothers, Louis of the Town of Amherst and Adam of North Tonawanda; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Toellner of the Town of Amherst. Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Hamp Funeral Home, 37 Adam St, the Rev. Karl Kindt officiating. Burial will be in Wheatfield cemetery.

    BREITENBACH - Adam Breitenbach, Jr., 74, of 608 Old Falls Blvd., North Tonawanda, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1953 at his residence after a prolonged illness. Born in Germany, he resided in North Tonawanda the past 70 years. A farmer for many years, he retired 12 years ago. He was a member of Salem Evangelical and Reformed church. He is survived by his wife, Agnes, nee Mudd Snell; four sons, Adam F., William, Edward, and Alfred, all of the Tonawandas; four daughters, Mrs. Elmer Payne of Newfane, Mrs. Raymond Holland, Mrs. Walter Schwagler and Mrs. Arnold Zimmerman, all of North Tonawanda; a step daughter, Mrs. Clyde Muth of Sanborn; a brother, Louis and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Toellner, both of the Town of Amherst.     Louis P. Breitenbach, 97, of North Tonawanda, Thursday (July 21, 1994) at Hamlin Nursing Home. Mr. Breitenbach was born in Wheatfield and was a lifelong resident of this area. He was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ, Rescue Fire Company #5, Volunteer Firemen's Benevolent Association of North Tonawanda, Electric City Lodge I.O.O.F., Salvation Army Golden Agers and the Tonawanda Senior Citizens. He was the husband of the late Almeda, Irene and Vera Breitenbach. Mr. Breitenbach is survived by his step daughter, Mrs. Lawrence (Dolores) Wardell of North Tonawanda; one brother, John Breitenbach of Niagara Falls; two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Pokelwaldt of Niagara Falls and Mrs. Anna Wendt of Lewiston; also several nieces and nephews. She was born Dec. 9, 1902, in Wheatfield, the daughter of Phillip and Augusta (Behm) Breitenbach. She lived at her Saunders Settlement Road homestead in Sanborn for 63 years before moving into the nursing home. Mrs. Wendt attended Our Savior Lutheran Church in the Town of Niagara. She was a member of the Sanborn Senior Citizens. She enjoyed sewing and ceramics. Mrs. Wendt was the widow of the late Benjamin Wendt, who died in 1972. She is survived by two sons, Robert J. Wendt and Ronald P. Wendt, both of Sanborn; a daughter, Annette Stahl of Sanborn; a brother, John Breitenbach of Niagara FaJls; a sister, Katherine Pokelwaldt of Niagara Falls; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Louis Breitenbach, Walter Breitenbach, Frederick Breitenbach, Henry Breitenbach, Margaret Bayer and Else Bayer. Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Wheatfield. The Rev.     John H. Breitenbach, age 98, of Kenmore, NY, and also of Niagara Falls, NY, Sunday, January 12, 2003 at North Gate Manor Health Care Facility. Born in the Town of Wheatfield, he had been a resident of Kenmore for more than 55 years and of Niagara Falls from 1992 until 1999. He was the husband of Lauretta M. (nee Guinther) Breitenbach, who died in 1992 and was the son of the late Philip and Augusta Breitenbach. Mr. Breitenbach had been employed by National Grinding Wheel in North Tonawanda for 36 years, retiring in 1970 and was a member of Salem United Church of Christ. He is survived by his sister, Katherine Pokelwaldt of Lockport, NY. and was the brother of the late Louis, Frederick, Henry and Walter Breitenbach, Anna Wendt, Margaret Bayer and Elsie Bayer, also survived by many nieces and nephews.The family will receive relatives and friends on WEDNESDAY from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Salem United Church of Christ, 114 Morgan Street in Tonawanda, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. following the visitation.     9/12/2004 LOCKPORT - Catherine C. Pokelwaldt, a homemaker and a defense worker during World War II, died Thursday in Briody Health Care Facility after a long illness. She was 97.
    Mrs. Pokelwaldt was born Catherine Breitenbach in Wheatfield and raised in a farmhouse on the Amherst side of Tonawanda Creek. She lived most of her adult life in Niagara Falls, moving to Lockport at age 90. She had lived in the nursing home for more than a year.
    During World War II, she worked as a riveter, assembling airplanes at Bell Aircraft Corp. in Wheatfield.
    For most of her life she was a homemaker, enjoying what she called her "fancy work": knitting and crocheting, especially doilies and tablecloths.
    Her family said she was a fine baker, specializing in a sour cream cookie recipe handed down from her grandmother. She also enjoyed playing cards.
    Her husband of 43 years, Edward, died in 1970.
    Survivors include four daughters, Shirley Palmiter of Pendleton, Audrey Smith of Ransomville, Carol Burnsworth of Lockport and Beverly Blaise of Prospect Heights, ILl.; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Wheatfield Post 1451, and a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, in the Town of Niagara, where she was active with the church clubs and choir. 
    Survivors include a son, Jeffrey Stahl of Bloom Field; a daughter, Lynne Diciocco of East Aurora; and a brother, Ronald Wendt of Rochester. Also predeceased by a brother, Robert Wendt. Visitation will be Sunday, January 22 from 2-7 PM at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Philip N.     Carol is survived by two daughters, Penny Colangelo and her spouse Kent, and Kim Burnsworth. Also surviving Carol are her two loving granddaughters, Genevieve and Aria Colangelo; her two sisters, Audrey Smith and Beverly Blaise; her niece Peggy Palmiter and partner Nancy Chandler; and nephew, Gary Palmiter.

    Audrey M. Smith, age 87, of Ransomville wife of the late Ronald R. Smith entered into rest on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at home. Audrey was born March 5, 1932 in Niagara Falls, NY. She is the daughter of the late Edward and the late Catherine Pokelwaldt. She married Ronald R. Smith on August 15, 1951 he predeceased on November 27, 2000. 
     
    Audrey was a homemaker all of her life where she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres and the New York Yankees.

    NORTH TONAWANDA — Judith A. Cribbs (nee Brietenbach), age 72, of North Tonawanda, passed away Friday, April 12, 2013 in DeGraff Memorial Hospital.

    Mrs. Cribbs was born August 12, 1940 in North Tonawanda, daughter of the late Walter and Mabel (Mittlestaedt) Brietenbach. Mrs. Cribbs attended local schools and graduated from Starpoint High.

    She was a life member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda. Mrs. Cribbs enjoyed bingo, shopping, ceramics and fishing with her husband.

    Beloved wife of Thomas Cribbs; devoted mother of Thomas Cribbs, Jr. and Cynthia (Herbert) Crossley, both of North Tonawanda; loving grandmother of Matthew and Kaitlynn Cramer; sister of Sharon (late Marvin) Liedy and Nancy (late Edward) Pipalski. Also survived by nieces and nephews.

    BETTY R. OSTWALD

    Of Pekin, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023, at the  Hildebrandt Hospice Care, Rochester, NY.  She was born in Lockport, NY,  on May 26, 1933, a daughter of the late Elmer F. and Lena P. [Breitenbach] Payne.
    Betty was a graduate of Newfane High School.
    Her first job was selling donuts at  the Mohican Market in Lockport.  She met the love of her life Alan and they were married in 1953, then moved to Chicago.  After returning to Western New York, she began her most rewarding job as a pre-school special education associate with the Niagara Orleans BOCES for 17 years, retiring in 1993.
    Betty was an avid quilter making many full size and wall hanging quilts and was known for her handmade birthday cards.
    She will be remembered as the care-taker of her family and hosting the family events over the years.
    Betty is survived by her husband of 69 years Alan G. Ostwald, three children Paul (Maria) Ostwald, Beth (Carl) Dickinson and Lori Ostwald, six grandchildren Nicole (Mark) Thomas, John (Kristin) Ostwald, Julie (William) Webekind, Katherine (Matthew) Butch, Lia and Lin Dickinson, twelve great grandchildren Zachary Marshall, Connor and Brynn Thomas, Emma and Preston Ostwald, Elizabeth, Gregory, Mary, Peter and Thomas Webekind, Joseph and Patrick Butch, two brothers Robert E. and David R. Payne, also three nieces and one nephew.
    She was the sister of the late Marion (Robert) Woods.
    There will be visitation on Wednesday from 12-1:00 PM at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 3229 Upper Mountain Road, Sanborn, NY, where funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00 PM, with the Rev. Kurt D. Schultz officiating.

    Robert E. Payne of Burt passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Absolute Care of Gasport. He was born in Lockport, NY, on August 30, 1934, a son of the late Elmer F. and Lena P. (Breitenbach) Payne. Robert was a graduate of Newfane High School. He was employed at Harrison Radiator from 1952-1993. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1959 and was stationed in Germany. Robert enjoyed making wine, airplanes, and watching the Buffalo Bills. He loved racing and old cars – including his beloved Mustang, the last “collectable car” he owned. Travelling was something else he enjoyed, especially trips to Letchworth State Park with his son Sam.
    He was predeceased by his sisters and their husbands Robert and Marion (Payne) Woods, and Alan and Betty (Payne) Ostwald. Robert is survived by his son Samuel R. Payne and his brother David R. Payne and several nieces and nephews.

    JAMIE L. REID

    Of Grand Island, NY, passed away on Friday September 30, 2022, in Kenmore Mercy Hospital.  She was born in North Tonawanda, NY, on January 19, 1985, the daughter of Kevin L. and Carol L.  [Wendt] Haseley.
    Jamie graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School, Niagara County Community, Buffalo State and received her Master's Degree from Medaille University.
    She was the program director at Niagara County Community College Liberty Program for the past 8 years.
    Jamie was actively involved with her children's activities, going to beauty pageants with her daughter and her sons sporting events.
    Jamie was a dedicated mother and wife who cherished her time with family and friends, She was a fun loving person who would light up the room and will be remembered for her  outgoing personality.
    In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of 9 years, Joshua Reid, her children Carter, Wesley and Vanessa Reid, a brother Jason (Alison) Haseley and was the sister in law of Aaron (fiancee' Shannon Bradley) Reid and Karisa (Nick) Johnson, also many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
    She was the daughter-in-law of the late Bruce Reid and Julia McGill.
    Her family will be present on Thursday from 3-8 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY.
    Jamie's Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 6167 Walmore Road, Sanborn, NY, with the Rev. Kurt Jensen officiating.
    Interment in St. Peter's Cemetery.
