Grover C. Simmons, 80, retired
fireman, died today at the Auburn
Nursing Home after a long illness.
He was the husband of Mrs. Arriej
(Hattie) Simmons of 335 Me- -
lone Village.
The son of the late Jacob and
Catherine Schmink Simmons, -he
was a life resident of Auburn.
Mr. SlmuiuiB was a fuvuien fur
28 years before his retirement Dec.
25. 1946. He was appointed a call
man April 3. 1916. and became a

Mr. Simmons was a communicant
of St. Alphonsus Church.
Surviving besides his widow are
a daughter. Mrs. Michael F. Sofinski;
a son, Lt. Bernard G. Simmons
of the Auburn Fire Departnrr^
two sisters. Mrs. Franca
Roach of Auburn and Mrs. Lila
VandenBosch of Rochester; seven
grandchildren and several nieces
and nephews.
Funeral services will -be-at-(h30
a.m. Monday at the Farrell Funeral
Home and at 10 a.m. in St.
Alphonsus Church where a high
Mass of requiem will be offered.
Burial will be in Soule Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral
home Saturday and Sunday from
3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
