of the Firemenns Benevolent Assn.
His wife, the late Ida Sydow,
died in 1952. He is survived by

GUSTAV FRITZ - Gustav Fritz, Sweeney St, near Bush's Bridge, died shortly after midnight this morning in the Buffalo City Hospital following a brief illness. He was 64 years old. Born in North Tonawanda (sic), he had spent the greater part of his life in this city. He is survived by one son, Henry; two daughters, Nora and Elizabeth, of North Tonawanda; seven brothers, Julius, Albert, Christian J., and George of North Tonawanda, Louis H. Town of Wheatfield, John of Lockport and Edward of Wright's Corners; two sisters, Mrs. Augusta Wilke and Mrs. Henry Kopp, North Tonawanda. He leaves a wife, Clara, nee graf; two sons Howard and Stewart; a daughter, Mrs. George Zuch; three grandchildren, five brothers, Julius and George, North Tonawanda, Louis, Town of Wheatfield, and Edward and John, Lockport, and two sisters, Mrs. Justine Wilke and Mrs. Henry Kopp, North Tonawanda. Saturday evening the members of the Rescue Fire Company paid their last tribute to Albert Fritz. Following roll call the members marched to the home of Mr. C. J. Fritz. Mr. Fritz was a charter member of the company. Final rites were held Sunday at the home of his brother Mr. C. J. Fritz of 700 Falls Boulevard. Mr. Fritz passed away Thursday morning at the DeGraff Memorial Hospital after an illness of six weeks. He is survived by a wife, Minnie, three sons, Elmer and William Fritz and Martin Redlein, a daughter, Mrs. Fred Poeller, two sisters, Mrs August Wilke and Mrs. Henry Kopp, North Tonawanda and six brothers, Julius, Christian J. Believe Farmer Stroke Victim
LOCKPORT, July 23 - Apparently the victim of a stroke, Edward A. Fritz, 76, lifelong Niagara county farmer, was found dead Saturday afternoon in the barn at the farm of Ernest Lewis, Lincoln avenue extension, Town of Royalton, where he had been making his home. The dead man and Mr. Lewis had been getting in hay during the day and Mr. Fritz had remained in the barn while the owner of the farm went back to the field. The body was found on his return. Mr. Fritz was a native of the Town of Wheatfield, son of the late William and Caroline Kube Fritz. He was an exempt member of Rescue Hose Company No. 5, North Tonawanda, and a member of Trinity Lutheran church, Lockport. Before making his home at the Lewis farm, Mr. Fritz had operated his own farm in the Million Dollar highway for many years. Survivors include two sons and a daughter, Howard E., Lester E. and Edith H. Fritz, all of Lockport; three brothers, Julius, Louis and George Fritz, all of Tonawanda. Services will be held at 4 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the Prudden Funeral home with the Rev. Herman Meier, pastor of Trinity church, officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cold Spring cemetery.

LEWISTON - Betty Jane Wurl, an extraordinary cook and seamstress, was called to her heavenly home on Friday (April 4, 2014) in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Home, Lewiston, following a lengthy illness. She was 89.

The former Betty Fritz was born in North Tonawanda to Walter and Leona Fritz and was a graduate of North Tonawanda High School.

Mrs. Wurl was well-known as a cook in the Wheatfield area and was famous for her pork chops and German potato salad. She also enjoyed crocheting, quilting and sewing.

Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Fred "Fritz" Wurl of Lewiston; a son, Dennis (Edele) of Wheatfield; a daughter, Kathleen (Stephen) Keller of Wheatfield; a brother, Gordon Fritz of Buffalo; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Thomas Wurl.

There will be no prior visitation. A memorial service will take place at 11 AM Saturday (4/12/14) in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 453 Old Falls Blvd., North Tonawanda. Interment will be in White Chapel Memorial Park, North Tonawanda. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be sent to St. Paul Lutheran Church. Gordon W. Fritz "Gordie," age 85, passed peacefully January 8, 2015 at High Pointe Nursing Facility after a long illness. Gordon was born on April 1, 1929 to the late Walter and Leona (nee Broecker) Fritz and was an Anny veteran of the Korean War. A life-long resident of Martinsville, North Tonawanda, he was employed at Shawnee Meat Market for over 40 years and then part-time at Federal Markets. Gordon was a very active former member of the North Tonawanda Planning Board, and attended numerous planning and school board meetings. He was also a member of the Western New York Woodturners. Gordon took great pride in his home that he built and lived in for almost 60 years; he enjoyed working on cars, making beautiful items from wood, cooking and listening to music.

Beloved husband to Betty and the late Mary Claire; dear father of Daniel (Heidi), Peter (Theresa), Donna (Leo) Nalbach, Michael (Ellen) and William (Leigh); dear grandfather of Diana, Robert, Kaitlyn, Melanie, Jonathan, Monica, Nicole, Claire, David, Joshua and Caleb; great-grandfather of Scarlet; step-father of Eric Kruss; brother of the late Betty Wurl, brother-in-law of Frederick "Fritz" Wurl.

TERRY G. FRITZ, age 80, of Pendleton, NY, entered into rest on February 13, 2021. He was born in North Tonawanda, NY, to Glenn E. and Rose E. (West) Fritz. Terry leaves behind his beloved wife of 58 years, Jill M. (Phillips) Fritz; two children, Tracy (Dale) Selbert and Jeffrey Fritz; grandchildren, Chad Selbert, Amanda (Nick) Gonnella, and Rachael Fritz; a brother, Ronald Fritz; brother-in-law, Robert (Karen) Phillips; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.After high school, Terry served honorably on active duty in the United States Navy, on the USS Yorktown, from 1958-1962. He held various jobs afterwards, including ownership of a service station, tractor trailer driver, Ken-ton adult education instructor, teaching basic auto mechanics, and then joined the 107th. New York Air National Guard in Niagara Falls, working full time as a mechanic and retired as a Master Sergeant. After his retirement, Terry remained busy and worked part time driving dump truck, shuttle vans, school and tour buses. He enjoyed hunting, motorcycling, RVing, bean bag baseball and traveling the United States with Jill by his side, seeing all 50 states. Terry volunteered for Twin Cities Meals on Wheels, and was a Salvation Army bell ringer. He belonged to the USS Yorktown Association, the RATS/RAGS, the Pendleton Veterans Association, the NT High School Reunion Committee, and the American Legion Post No. 2 in Wauchula, FL. Terry loved his family, friends, and living life to the fullest. He will be in our hearts and memories always.Private services were held in the DuBois Funeral Home, Wheatfield, with the family. NORTH TONAWANDA - Benjamin G. Sattelberg, 54, of 100 Old Niagara Falls Boulevard, died unexpectedly Sunday evening (April 29, 1962) after suffering a heart attack at St. Martin Lutheran Church. A lifelong resident of this city, Mr. Sattelberg was employed for the last 23 years as a sales representative for the Block Radio and Television Co. He was a member of St. Martin Church and of its brotherhood, of which he was a past officer. He served as organist for the church for many years and was assistant organist at his death. Mr. Sattelberg also was a former teacher in the church Sunday school and was chairman of the church stewardship committee and a member of its building committee. In 1954, he was elected a member of the stewardship committee of the Eastern District, American Lutheran Church, and served for two terms. He was a member of the Lions Club of the Tonawandas. Surviving are his widow, Adelaide E. Thiele Sattelberg; a son, Ronald E. Sattelberg; a grandson, Jonathan Sattelberg, both of Webster; and his stepmother, Mrs. Ella Sattelberg, this city. Age 101-peacefully, on December 15, 2021. Esther was born on September 16, 1920. She was a lifelong resident of North Tonawanda and an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed the distinction of being the church oldest member, and the matriarch of the Kopp family. She was an excellent cook and baker, a championship bowler, and an avid golfer. She was also a master knitter and enjoyed reading and playing Rummikub, Scrabble and various cards games, especially Pinochle. Her love of sports was legendary. She was an avid Bills fan and watched all NFL and college games. She loved Nascar as well and attended many races, rooting on Jeff Gordon from the stands. She also followed tennis, golf and the Ultimate Fighting Championship. She began her career at Wurlitzer after high school and became a homemaker after marrying Harvey Loucks in 1955. Esther attended night school and received her certification as an Electronics Technician. She was employed at Moog Music in East Aurora for 9 years. Esther also enjoyed camping and traveling. She and Harvey traveled the states in a Winnebago camper for many years and were members of several RV clubs. They also traveled to Alaska, Nova Scotia, Switzerland and Norway. Beloved wife of the late Harvey Loucks; dear mother of Jan (Daniel) Krull of Ephrata, PA and Amy Loucks-DiMatteo (James Bishop) of Pendleton; grandmother of Matthew Krull, Andrew (Gayle) Krull; Rachel Bonfessuto; Brian DiMatteo and Blake DiMatteo; great grandmother of Dylan and Hannah Krull and Ethan and Lian Bonfessuto. Mrs. Camann was a life long member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, a member of the Lutheran Missionary League, Women of St. Paul and a charter member of the historical society of North German Settlements. She also served as church historian for over 30 years.
Mrs. Camann is survived by her two dear sons, Dr. Carl G. (Margo) Camann of Atlanta, GA, and Paul R. (Anna) Camann of Mystic, CT. Also survived by three grandchildren Claire (Jim) Gooch, Meghan (Michael) Wilson and Carter J. Camann of Georgia.

Services for Thomas R. Wurl, 42, an electrician for Ferguson Electric Construction, who was fatally injured in a work-related accident Monday, will be held at 11 A.M. Friday in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 453 Old Falls Blvd., North Tonawanda. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery.
Wurl lived on Hoover Road. He died Monday afternoon (Sept. 24, 1990) in Lockport Memorial Hospital after the cherry picker he was operating for Ferguson Electric hit a ditch and overturned at the Harrison Radiator Division of General Motors Corp., Town of Lockport.
Born in North Tonawanda, he was a 20-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and had attended Niagara-Wheatfield Central School and Trott Vocational High School, Niagara Falls.
He was an Army veteran and an avid fisherman and bow hunter.
He was a member of St. Paul Church, where he also served on the church maintenance board; Wheatfield Post 1451, American Legion, and the LaSalle Sportsmen's Club.
He is survived by his wife, the former Gail Wendt; two sons, Jonathan and Andrew; his parents, Fred and Betty; a brother, Dennis, and a sister, Kathleen Kowalik, all of Wheatfield

Linda Lee Soos (Zastrow) age 75, of North Tonawanda, on December 29, 2022, angels took her to heavenly home following a five-year courageous battle with cancer. Linda, together with her husband Lawrence, owned and operated Soos’ Oliver St. Café for 38 years. She was the founder of Oliver Street Community Pride, where she spent many hours applying for grants and raising money for signage, planters, and benches along the length of Oliver St. She also initiated the Pony’s on Parade which line Oliver St. She participated in and contributed to the “Glory Be to Kids” softball tournament. She was a member of the Pierogi Ladies at O.L.C. church. In her spare time, she knitted hats, mittens, and scarves for the less fortunate children of the Black Rock area through the Boys and Girls Club. She did all these things while raising two sons. Linda was an unbelievably giving person. Beloved wife of Lawrence Soos, who was a former mayor of North Tonawanda. Dear mother of J. C. Jufer and Michael Jufer. Eleanor M. Hanes (Zastrow) passed away peacefully at home, in New Port Richey, Florida, on November 9, 2020 and has reunited with her beloved son, Kevin L. Hanes, in Heaven. She was born in North Tonawanda, NY, on July 21, 1943.
She is survived by her parents, LaVern and Marge Zastrow; her husband, David; daughter, Susan (Mike); daughter-in-law, Karen (OCallaghan); three grandsons, Kevin II (Jenna), Kyle (Bobbie), and Damien; three great-grandchildren, Addison, Hunter, Ella. Eleanor was the eldest of six, survived by her four sisters and brother, Linda, Connie, Valli, Kim, Ronald.
No services will be held.
