Robert J. Strassburg, age 87 of North Tonawanda, went to be with his Lord, April 9, 2015, following a lengthy illness. Robert was a U. S. Army veteran and a member of AmVets. He was a life-long member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and had served the church in various positions throughout the years. He had worked as a Civil Engineer for Occidental Petroleum, retiring in 1990. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, gardening and golfing. Beloved husband of Margaret (nee Suhr) Strassburg. Dear father of Robert (Patricia) Strassburg of North Tonawanda, John (Deborah) Strassburg of Noblesville, IN, and Kathleen (James) Delabarto of Hilton, NY. Grandfather of Jeremy, Christopher (Lorna), Cherrie (Scott), John (Nena), Robert (Courtney), Christina (Samuel), Lisa (Fiancée Andrew) and the late Anthony. Great-grandfather of 9 great-grandchildren. Brother of the late Norman (late Kathleen) and the late LaVerne (late Lucille); uncle of many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home Inc. 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd. in North Tonawanda on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10 A.M. from St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1134 Oliver St. in North Tonawanda, the Rev. Keith Knupp will officiate, interment in St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery.
