    Notes:

    March 10, 1925 – March 7, 2023

Genevieve Mocniak peacefully passed to heaven to be with her beloved husband Henry on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 under the care of Hospice at the Northgate residence. She would have celebrated her 98th birthday in a few days and the family think she may have left because she knew about the "I'm 98 today" tiara and sash that had been purchased for her to wear at her party.

Genevieve was born in Niagara Falls, NY on March 10, 1925, to Regina and Valenty Siuta, and attended local schools. In 1942 she began working at the Bell Aircraft plant in Wheatfield. She was a "Rosie the Riveter". She loved sharing stories about using a rivet gun to attach a strip of metal molding to hold the plexiglass on the aft cabin of the P39 Aircobra. With so many family and friends serving in WWII, she felt she was doing her part in the war effort.

She fell in love and married "the soldier boy next door", Henry, and together celebrated 64 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in 2010. Together they raised five children, Christine (late John) Bialik, Daniel (MaryAnn) Mocniak, and Carol Mocniak, all of Niagara Falls; also, Frank (Lorraine) Mocniak of West Henrietta, Rochester, and Regina (Carmen) Mauro of Ridgeville, Ontario.

She was an excellent cook and taught her daughters and granddaughters her secrets for delicious pierogi, golumbki, placek and other Polish dishes. She always had enough to feed anyone who walked in despite the fact that she didn't know they were coming! She knitted and crocheted sweaters, scarfs, mittens, afghans, Barbie doll clothing, christening outfits and other apparel. If you received one of her carefully crocheted full tablecloths, you were really special!

Her children's clothes lasted forever because she mended and repaired any tears or rips with patches from her large sewing supplies. She lengthened hems and let out seams as they grew. Heaven forbid if you wore a pair of jeans that had rips or holes. Grandchildren who visited her were admonished for the current style of jeans and she wanted them sewn and patched!!!
One of her greatest thrills was baking and decorating cakes for her daughter's and her grandchildren's weddings; and birthday cakes were an opportunity to hone her skills in different ways and were a sight to behold; she was a perfectionist.

She was a voracious reader: newspapers, 2 or 3 novels a week, magazines, closed captions on the television, signs, and t-shirts if they had any writing on them. She was always reading!!! If something had words on it, she would read it! She loved word searches and always had her trusty bag with at least 10 books and 25 pens near her recliner.

She loved her summer cottage at Long Beach, Ontario where she would wield a broom, weed trimmer, paint brush, or hammer with finesse. Rumors abounded that she and her husband would take an occasional midnight swim when the rest of the family were asleep, but she just smiled slyly when questioned about it. The annual Mocniak family reunions held at the cottage, complete with her son's Polish band, were legendary and looked forward to by everyone. She loved her Canadian "summer home" and she loved her "Cottage friends" who she considered extended family.

She is survived by 13 grandchildren, John Bialik, Jeanine (Christopher) Cheers, Christi (Brian) Ash, James Mocniak, Philip (Michelle) Mocniak, Carolyn (Barret) Anderson, Jenelle Mocniak, Mark Mocniak, Frank (Jacqueline) Mauro, Andrew (Sara) Mocniak, Tess (Isaac) Waxman, Valerie Mocniak, and Joseph Mocniak. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren. She had many family members that she considered "favorites" – her favorite son, favorite daughter, favorite grandchild, favorite niece or favorite nephew … suffice to say we'll let them battle out who the favorite really was.

She was the last of her siblings, predeceased by her brothers William, Gus, Walter, John, Joseph and Stephen and her sisters Virginia Zasucha, and Lottie Zak. She outlived all her generation of friends and relatives, as well as the Queen and Betty White who she read about continually.

Special thanks to Kevin Sandmaier, Maggie, and also the caring staff at Northgate and Hospice who adopted her as their "Babci."

Visitation will be Friday, March 10, from 3:00 to 7:00 at the ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME Inc., 319-24 St, Niagara Falls, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 11, 10:30 AM at Divine Mercy Parish, 2437 Niagara Street, Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev. Richard Augustyn officiating. Burial following in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Niagara Hospice, Niagara County SPCA, or the Card Ministry of Divine Mercy Parish.

    Notes:

    Obituary of Michelle Marie Siuta
Michelle Marie Siuta was strong, creative, smart, thoughtful, honest and fun loving. Her energy could light up any room. She was a beautiful soul, inside and out. Born on November 16, 1984 to parents Paul and Ailleen (Romney) Siuta, of Sanborn, NY. Michelle was one of eight children and survived by her parents and siblings: Renée Siuta, Janelle Siuta, Jonathan (Shannon) Siuta, Colleen (Jon) Gebauer, Rachel (Ryan) Becken and Elizabeth (Andrew) Perry. Her brother Stephen W. Siuta passed away in 2004. In addition to being a wonderful daughter and sister, she was a loving aunt to: Kaelyn Siuta Singer, Rylan Siuta, Hunter Gebauer and Amelia Perry. Beloved Godmother to Kaelyn Siuta Singer and Gavin Garneret. Michelle passed away on April 11, 2020 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY, while undergoing a double organ transplant for a kidney and liver. Michelle grew up on her family's farm where she helped plant and harvest crops, in addition to selling products such as pumpkins, apples, corn and freshly pressed cider at their farm stand. While in high school, she also worked for a local dairy where she helped milk cows.Michelle had a thirst for knowledge, which was woven through all aspects of her life. From a formal education perspective, she was an exceptional student throughout primary school and went on to earn an Associates of Arts in Humanities and Social Sciences from Niagara County Community College in 2004, a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, with a minor in Education from the University at Buffalo in 2006, and a Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering from the University at Buffalo in 2011. While attending the University at Buffalo, Michelle was a member of the Math Club and held the office of Secretary in 2004 and 2005, and Vice President in 2006. She is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and has taken the oath of The Order of the Engineer.Michelle started her professional career as a Draftswoman for Landmark Land Surveying Co. She then went to work for the New York State Department of Transportation as a Transportation Construction Inspector. She expanded on her formal engineering training by becoming certified in Concrete Testing and Soil Testing through the State. She managed projects such as bridge replacements and roadway reconstruction; where she was responsible for overseeing and inspecting assigned projects, reviewing construction plans, coordinating with other inspectors and ensuring structural integrity. Due to Michelle's health concerns, she was forced to cut her engineering career short. She had a gift for problem solving and design, which she parlayed into working as an independent IT Consultant, providing the flexibility needed to make her health a priority.
Over the past 6-months Michelle participated in Cornell Cooperative Extension's Beginning Farmer Training Program, where she completed 100 hours of community service on local farms and attended courses to receive a certification in Market Gardening. Market Gardening entails the intense production and sale of high-value crops. Her goal was to gain personal experience in crop production, a deeper understanding of farm management, and the entrepreneurial skills to positively contribute to her family's existing farm. Michelle had also hoped to leverage the business skills learned through this program, to open her own creative studio. She was incredibly passionate about the Arts, and longed for the opportunity to create every day. She enjoyed all mediums; especially painting, drawing and ceramics. Her love of the Arts also encompassed music. She played the flute, piano and guitar, but was most well known for her tambourine! She always seemed to break it out at just the right moment, to brighten the mood and make people laugh. Michelle enjoyed learning about different cultures and did so through the study of Taekwondo, dance, becoming fluent in French and being a member of the University at Buffalo's Polish Club, which afforded her the opportunity to backpack throughout Europe. She had hoped to travel extensively and explore the world, when her health allowed. She absolutely loved to dance and enjoyed going to social clubs to practice her favorites - Salsa, Bachata and Merengue. From an early age Michelle took an interest in learning and mastering the games of soccer and basketball. She played competitively through her college years and then in clubs as an adult. She shared her passion of soccer with children by coaching youth soccer for PAL and NWAA, where some of her most valued players were her three younger sisters: Colleen, Rachel and Elizabeth. Most recently she could be found on the sidelines, cheering on her niece Kaelyn, who shares her love of basketball and nephew Rylan, who shares her love of soccer.Michelle gave back to the community by being an advocate for the American Porphyria Foundation and serving on a board to educate pharmaceutical companies about the impacts of the disease. She was a volunteer Firefighter with Bergholz Fire Company from 2006 through 2018, where she held the office of Secretary in 2010. She also completed Niagara County Sheriff's Civilian Police Academy in 2016.Michelle's faith in God was unwavering. As the guiding tenant in her life, it helped her to persevere, despite the health struggles she faced. She refused to let them define her and accomplished many great things in her short lifetime. Since Michelle was always authentically herself, we thought it would be best to close with her own words: "Dreams are nothing if not fulfilled, they're only visions that appear. All your hopes and all your might, could be washed away just like a tear. Nothing more, nothing less, it's so easy to lose your way. But if you're strong and don't give up, you will live your dreams someday." – Michelle M. SiutaHere's to Michelle, our strong warrior who never gave up and fought until her very last breath. Forever in our hearts. We love you!Private Mass of Christian Burial & Burial took place at the convenience of the family. A Celebration of Michelle's Life will be held at a later date to be announced.

    Notes:

    Obituary

Joel Robert Ryndak, of Cambria, New York, entered the Lord’s kingdom suddenly on the morning of August 17, 2023. He was 20 years old.
Joel was born May 9, 2003 to Lawrence J. Ryndak and Kiersten A. (Maska) Ryndak in Williamsville, NY.  He is survived by his sister, Morgan R. Ryndak; grandparents, Gordon and Colleene Maska, Stella and the late Joseph Ryndak; his rescue cat, Timbo; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Joel was a talented kid, having started playing hockey at the age of 5, and learning to skate on his grandfather’s home ice rink years before that. He eventually went on to become a goalie for many teams in the Buffalo area, ending his career with the Wheatfield Blades and Starpoint High School.
Upon graduation from Starpoint in 2021, he went on to get his associates degree from Ohio Technical College in Diesel Equipment Technology which he completed in March of 2023.  He stayed in Cleveland this summer after graduation as he was selected to complete a certificate in Generator Power Systems.   Joel started his career with Penn Power Systems in Buffalo, NY this August after he moved back home to Cambria.
To know Joel was to know how to laugh, not take life too seriously, work hard, and give to those around you. He was always someone you could count on for help - from the small things like letting your dog out to helping you put new brakes on your car. He cared greatly for those around him - friends, family, coworkers.
Visitation will be Monday August 21st  from 4-8PM at Rhoney Funeral Home, 5893 Hoover Road, Sanborn NY.
Funeral service will take place Tuesday August 22nd at 10AM at Immaculate Conception Church in Ransomville, NY.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you please make a donation to the Niagara County SPCA or Tunnels to Towers in Joel’s honor.
